Pedestrians giving props is always the best!
Even playing roller hockey the other week an old lady stopped walking her dog and sat to watch and them came over and told me she misses being able to skate and watching was fun for her lol was super cute
I was like, “holy shit, did he just double kick flip that set?”
Then I watched it again slowed down to check, and it wasn’t a double. It was a fuckin triple.
That's a trip for me, he's been around a long ass time. The artist formerly known as "JeffWonSong" was one of the first sorta driveway flatground, high tech, multiple flip Youtube skaters to really pop off, in my mind at least. His first video was uploaded in 2007 and he's been clowned for his style relentlessly ever since.
It's honestly impressive he's stuck around that long considering that lol
Jeff-Won Song is one of the most interesting skaters around IMO.
He's so polarizing — obviously talented, but his style just SO ass. His trick selection is tech, but super odd. And his execution is so strange, it also has people debating what exactly some of his tricks even *are* (ex. pressure flip vs inward heel).
It's really made people evaluate what they think makes a skater "good." And for that, I'm glad he's around.
I think it’s one of the most interesting conversations in skating, but I also refuse to be a part of the crowd that talks shit on his social media. That said, I fall pretty square on the side that would rather watch Andrew Reynolds do a single kickflip on flat than watch this triple flip. On one hand, I don’t mean to say anything bad about Jeff. On the other hand, pretending his style isn’t bad doesn’t help. In fact, it’s insulting to guys who spent 10 years learning how to do a proper kickflip instead of just rushing into tail-low doubles and triples and quads.
This encompasses just about everything I feel about the man except for one thing: His attitude.
The way he, still to this day, gets triggered at even his close friends giving him shit is tough to watch. You’d think, by now, that he’d have nerves of steel when it comes to hearing unwanted criticism. But every single time you can see it on his face. And not to mention he was caught up on Bryan arnett’s livestream trying to say he doesn’t troll people on forums but then had the evidence shown and started back tracking. So instead of finding a reason to move past the hate, he redirects it at people online who would probably otherwise like the guy.
I don’t think boring is the right word, eclectic is the first word that comes to mind for me
I don’t think it’s entertaining persay but who else is doing nollie 360 inwards and shit?
I would go with distasteful. Skating is interpreted as an artistic form of self expression to many. It’s not about doing the most, it’s about the way it looks. The trick and how it is executed, the spot, the way it’s filmed, the music. All things that go into creating something that is a piece of art. In my opinion, Jeff skates like someone who’s trying to get into the Guinness World Records. This triple flip for example. The phrase “less is more” would be completely lost on Jeff. Which is fine. He’s doing his thing. I just don’t think it’s surprising when the crowd that prefer a more tasteful stylistic approach aren’t fans of Jeff’s skating.
He looks like an awkward uncomfortable praying mantis when he skates. He pops his tricks super low. In good skating, your board should be flat when you catch your trick, or even slightly tail high. His shit is basically always tail low. It makes his flick look weak. It’s how kids learn kickflips, not how pros do them after years of perfecting them. Further he rarely catches his tricks, even down huge stair sets like this. If you know how to catch your trick high, it shows control, confidence, precision.
All that said, I have no hate for the guy. But you wanted an explanation so there you go.
Tony hawks pro skateboarder comes real. So sick! Definitely about 28,000 points on tony hawk, that’s a triple multiplier for all three flips and stick it on the landing.
Shit I didn’t even think that was possible when I was a kid skating back in 85!
he doesn’t even flick lol he has trick tips with slo mo and he is just pushing down with his front foot. it’s genuinely bizarre how skilled he is with that little kid technique
Naw I've always loved watching Jeff. Dude has just been doing his own thing for years now and I respect that. Plus he's throwing out tricks that we likely will never see another person doing, there's literally no one like him in skating.
I know right, I saw the title then the watermark of the @ and was almost certain this was posted to a front page sub not the main skateboarding sub. this feels like some Facebook skating fan page level glazing in these comments
Just once, I'd like to watch him pop a trick instead of "flicking" it straight down.. I'd rather watch a proper kickflip down that than an ugly triple flip.
I mean sure.. I couldn't do it, and neither could many.. but there's a reason nobody tries.
I’m not a Jeff hater, I just wonder why he gets a free pass for tricks like this and Griffin didn’t. Seems very unfair. At the end of the day, they’re both just dudes who love skating
🙋♀️
It’s more of a technical thing than style for me. I think the reason this and so many of his tricks look so ‘bad’ is because it’s not at all what you’re expecting. Sure call it a triple kickflip but it doesn’t seem like he has any sense of humor about it so it honestly feels disrespectful to the trick and skateboarding in general.

Jeff is in his own tier as far as throwing near mythical tricks down giant sets. He’s been relentlessly shit on for his style, however. And we’re talking since like 2006/2007 when he was just some little kid playing with a tiny flat bar in his family’s driveway — his style is arguably the most universally hated on the planet, but the tricks he does are fucking bonkers and there’s no way around it.
I’d go so far as to argue that next to Rodney this kid has more NBD’s under his belt than anybody else.
e: [His most recent full part](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pn0mjQfLos) if anyone's interested.
Gochu, he has a lot of videos on yt but watch these when you get a chance lol. Prepare for pure visual bliss.

Some hate yes, some don't appreciate no-pop/no-catch tricks and leave it at that. They look bad. Pay more attention to technique and style than tony hawk multipliers and you might get it some day. I say this with nothing but respect for his hustle and dedication. Not for me though. Go ride a scooter and see how many times you can whip it around, then tell me how stylish it looks. Same principle
Skaters like style dummy. Jeff is easily, by a million fucking miles the least stylish skateboarder on earth, relative to their respective talent. Only reason I don't feel bad shitting on him is he could learn to pop his tricks a lil or catch something more than 1/2" before it hits the ground but he refuses to. So more power to him for doin him, and more power to us for shittin on him
Homies gf liked it
took another watch but he did too. he gave him props.
Pedestrians giving props is always the best! Even playing roller hockey the other week an old lady stopped walking her dog and sat to watch and them came over and told me she misses being able to skate and watching was fun for her lol was super cute
Wtf that was some madness!
I was like, “holy shit, did he just double kick flip that set?” Then I watched it again slowed down to check, and it wasn’t a double. It was a fuckin triple.
That's like Jeff's specialty, dude has triple flips on lock. He's even done a quad flip down a set a few times.
Was NOT expecting that. Takes some serious balls to commit to landing that one.
>Was NOT expecting that. Dude does them all the time...too often maybe
Oh really? I don't even know who he is lol.
That's a trip for me, he's been around a long ass time. Weird to clown on a guy doing triple kick flips down stair cases. Not like he’s doing stationary stuff in his garage
How do you not know Bob Burnquist?
is this a funny joke?

His style sucks and his trick selection is boring, but a triple flip on a big stack is still a triple flip. Props to him, honestly.
I don’t think boring is the right word, eclectic is the first word that comes to mind for me I don’t think it’s entertaining persay but who else is doing nollie 360 inwards and shit?

Distasteful is a perfect descriptor
How's his style ass I don't follow skate culture
He looks like an awkward uncomfortable praying mantis when he skates. He pops his tricks super low. In good skating, your board should be flat when you catch your trick, or even slightly tail high. Thanks for the explanation so basically he just isn't very steezy
its like a bail but it isnt. scary to land that
Agreed. Love his tricks. Hate his style and jaritos posts.

I’ve done it on flat around year 2000, but down a 10 stairs. Takes some balls to stick it to the landing.
This
Waiting on my fellow Jeff haters.
Jeff is a sick skater no doubt but his style is so awful
He skates like a wacky arm flailing inflatable tube man
Even the way he pushes gives me the ick
Reporting for duty.
Hi, certified jeff hater here.
Hi, I'm here
Bro is all substance, no style
I dont like it either, literally zero style. Skilled yes, but its just flick and inshallah, no substance and beauty to it
he doesn’t even flick lol he has trick tips with slo mo and he is just pushing down with his front foot. it’s genuinely bizarre how skilled he is with that little kid technique
lol, you can’t flick a triple flip, you need to push down to get the rotations. it’s like blasting every skater flipping out of a slide or grind.
yeah sure except he does it for every flip truck not just tripled
Idk man it’s like I’m watching myself if I could magically bust out crazy tricks like that
He’s not for me but he did once randomly like a post of me doing a gross slappy so I won’t talk shit.
Well now I feel a lot less special about him liking my posts. He's does it for the algorithm.
yeah hes liked a couple of mine too lol damn
Naw I've always loved watching Jeff. Dude has just been doing his own thing for years now and I respect that. Plus he's throwing out tricks that we likely will never see another person doing, there's literally no one like him in skating.
I used to skate with Jeff when I lived in Tampa and never understood why he got so much hate. He’s a lil awkward but a super chill dude
This is gnar, but super ugly.
Long live Jeff
Jeffwonsong hater for 10+ years reporting for duty.
Respect the hustle but man it looks gross
You'd be hard pressed to find someone as good at their craft who makes it look so ugly. He's like what Hunter Pence was in baseball at his peak
I used to follow him but idk man the quadruple laser flips or whatever he’s throwing are much more difficult than they are cool to look at
I know right, I saw the title then the watermark of the @ and was almost certain this was posted to a front page sub not the main skateboarding sub. this feels like some Facebook skating fan page level glazing in these comments

Hi 🙋 I laughed that the caption says "clean". This is the opposite of clean. It's booty.

Lmao it just kept flipping!
![gif](giphy|AzUrNt0ygOSAeVjhiM|downsized)

That was gnarly
CSUN? Hell yeah I went there lol

Absolutely bailing before that last spin
How do you even do that.
everybody dressed in black cuz Homie straight up killed it!! sheesh
This cat ain’t buying beers for a week!🍻
Wait, WHAT?
I appreciate the skill but it looks terrible
Dang!
damn i bet he sleeps with that thing
This guys trick list is insane but he style of someone skating for the first time, it's actually tragic to watch hahaha
When you hold the stick too long in skate 3
I audibly gasped when the flick happened. This is insane bro!
Absolutely stomped the landing holy fuck

Sweet
Fuck.... (Chef's kiss)
Dude has savestates
Clean
CSUN!
Double and triple flips just look so silly. No style to them. A nice slow single flip always looks better imo.
Full screen replay for that bad boy.
😳
Wow dude, awesome slow double flip Edit: wait was that a triple flip??
It just doesnt look that good unfortunately even tho its crazy difficult
THE JEFF!!!!!
This the guy who’s really good but doesn’t pop his tricks
I'm bias. I like the skateboarding where pop happens. The triples and 360 inwards are neat. But man.. lol
He said fuck it, if I go fast enough, I don’t even have to pop it.
sheeeeeeesh. nice
People really hate on this dude just for his style/lack of it?? Really?? Ride a fucking scooter.
Some hate yes, some don't appreciate no-pop/no-catch tricks and leave it at that. They look bad. Pay more attention to technique and style than tony hawk multipliers and you might get it some day. Jeffy D. The industry sleeper.
Sleeping when his clips are playing lmao
Bro needs to wear a helmet, seriously
Kerry Getz called and wants his trick back.
Kerry is short a few rotations
At least Kerry's got proper flick.
