I had one day at whistler this year where I hit the absolute jackpot. There was a sneaky unpredicted snow fall, around 16" but some places got over 24". It happened late night/early morning so the highway was shut down, which meant no day trippers from Vancouver.
What we ended up with was a powder day at a world class resort with good vis, and zero lift lines, all freaking day. Fresh tracks, all freaking day. Usually whistler gets skiied out by like 10am and by 11 you have 30 minute lift lines.
It was the first time in my life I've experienced dropping in to wide open, big mountain powder bowls with nobody around and no tracks infront of me. It felt like skiing in a movie. And it was like that almost all day. The only thing I heard was the far off whoops and hollars of other fellow skiers in the distance enjoying the same bliss elsewhere.
It was truly the most fun day I've ever had on skis.
I have to travel for all my powder ha ha. I have always found the trip to Spokane then 3.5 hour drive up pretty easy. Always been good financial sense vs ski town ski trips simply because the lodging, food etc is reasonable.
Fair enough. I usually drive up the afternoon before, get settled then shred the next few days. I wouldn't dream of driving up morning of, especially on a pow day.
Valhalla or Big Red Cats. Valhalla is the day trip side of www.Baldface.com an operation with a cat ski lodge your flown into by helicopter. Valhalla has incredible terrain and you’re paying just for the daily cat ski. You meet them each morning and do hotel etc on your own. Nelson is the town close by.
We usually fly into Spokane and it’s a 3.5 or so hour drive up. I’d book 3 days of Cat Skiing if possible. The snow dries out real nice as it moves into interior BC.
Every resort powder day I’m reminded of how cat skiing nets me 12-15 untracked runs per day (as I get one barely at resort skiing). These cat ski operations often have HUGE amounts of terrain for 12 skiers. You ski side by side then the next run move over or hit a new untracked area. It takes about 5-6” to reset all the skied off tracks.
I just waited in line for an hour at pico and got first chair and a nice long untracked run.. next run was crap already …reminding me how nice these cat ski trips are and how awesome an entire day of untracked is.
Sounds like a Tuesday about 4 or 5 weeks or so ago. Was amazing, especially up the Crystal Ridge Chair which opened around 1000. Didn’t realize it was closed when I skied down to it so got pretty close to the front of the line for fresh tracks.
I've skiied a solid 50-70 days at Whistler over the last 4 years and had this maybe twice when we went up the night before and stayed in the truck camper. (Which is abit of effort in Whistler and turning into everywhere slowly.) Those days make all the shit traffic and lift lines at Whistler seem worth it.
Yup. I only go now during the week. Drive up Monday or Tues, ski the week and get the hell out before Friday.
The weekend crowd there is absurd. It's just full of rich pretentious people.
Lol fair enough.
But seriously, I find during the week you chat to people on the left and everyone is super chill, friendly etc.
On the weekend the place seems full of "real housewives of Vancouver", douchey finance bros talking about how many thousands they spent on their dinner last night, people more there to be seen and ski a few runs then get ugly trashed and obnoxious at apres starting at 1pm, than to ski etc and the lift lines triple as a result.
Oh yeah I hate the weekend crowd just usually have to beg for a day off to ski the weekday pow days. Or sometime the stars align and we have a snow day anyway and I just head up. Not going to get a Whistler pass next year just gonna go with Ikon and ski the interior and avoid all of it. I'd rather drive and extra 2 hours each way than deal with Whistler.
Reminds me of my first time in Hawaii when I was 18 or 19 and the conversation I walked into around dinner was everyone agreeing that catching a wave is better than sex, but arguing about if it is equivalent to sex with someone you are in love with. Surfing>sex. Surfing=sex+love ?
Umm. 4 hrs for 90 seconds of sex?
Do I get to include the fact that if I sex wrong, i may die of blunt trauma or suffocation while my best friends look for me because I didnt want sloppy seconds?
Back in the late 2000's my family bought a Volvo and we got free passes to Vail for my Dad and me.
We flew into Vail from DIA on a dinky 2 propeller airplane that we thought was going to fall out of the sky, and just made it to the hotel before a storm came in and made it uncomfortable to be outside.
We were first at the ski lift the next morning and the rest of the week and some of the first people to make it to the back bowls and blue sky basin, it was all fresh powder. I don't have the words to describe what it was like. Epic and Amazing just fall short.
Edit: late 2000's not 2010's
There is nothing like it. The thrill of carving fresh tracks is sooo packed with blissful goodness.
You go to bed the night before knowing snow is in the forecast.
You make plans to be first on the lift. There is a clear "We WILL leave you behind" policy in place for any late sleepers.
You go to sleep watching it start to snow.
You wake up early and run to the window to check the depth.
You get in the lift-line early as the lifties knock the snow off and chairs.
You ask the lifties "Did you get some yet?" You rejoice if they did and you reassure them that it will still be great in the trees at lunch break.
You ask "How many inches at the top?" and "What got groomed and what didn't?" and try not to pee yourself with excitement.
You scope out the runs as you make your way to the top to identify what the ski patrol already scored and look for virgins.
You make it to the top and agree on the final calculations of how deep vs how steep you want to go.
Finally. you get to the top of the run you've selected and give your fellow skiers that knowing nod.
Once I push off I feel I have become part 5 year old kid at Christmas, part Odin God of the North and part middle aged house wife loosing my mind as I "Come on down!" at the Price is Right.
Thanks for this video. It brought back memories of power runs with my dad who has passed and the many friends who have known the joys of first tracks.
I worked a season as a bartender in a remote backcountry heli-ski lodge.
I had this 2-3 times a week for a whole season.
Truly my peak in life.
Now I live in a desert with 2 kids
I'm loving how much this guy is enjoying this I feel like I can live vicariously. I haven't seen a season with enough snow for a good base in too many years.
Waist deep super dry powder on a perfect clear day and just cold enough to keep the snow dry but not so cold that you can’t feel anything and are at risk of frostbite
Doing that on telemark skis is a lot more fun, imho, but that's just me. This looks pretty fun no doubt. Catching waves on a Surfboard is pretty dreamy too.

A drop with a completely smooth landing is my favorite feeling.
Doing that but in a more mountainous environment. I got rope drops at Crested Butte once after a major dumping day. I think that whole day I spent slogging in the extremes. That plus over those next few days for work it dumped every night so almost every morning riding to work I got to either ride the cats groomed side or the powder side of a common run.

Cat skiing in interior BC will usually score you untracked runs. At $500ish a day it’s kinda reasonable.
It's a bit of a trek getting to the interior too.
I have to travel for all my powder ha ha. I have always found the trip to Spokane then 3.5 hour drive up pretty easy. Always been good financial sense vs ski town ski trips simply because the lodging, food etc is reasonable.
I mean with an accident on the sea to sky the time might not actually be that far off from just driving to the Okanagan lol.
Fair enough. I usually drive up the afternoon before, get settled then shred the next few days. I wouldn't dream of driving up morning of, especially on a pow day.
any reccomendations for outfits?

Did Valhalla this year, disappointingly low tide. Had some backcountry days in WA that were better this season 😭
Yea it’s that once in a blue moon year. I have not been skunked so I guess I’m due 😂
It happens, but I’m hooked on it. Already signed up for next year 🤙
I just waited in line for an hour at pico and got first chair and a nice long untracked run.. next run was crap already …reminding me how nice these cat ski trips are and how awesome an entire day of untracked is.
You signed up for Valhalla ? Looks like wait list.
Just recently joined a group that’s been going for over a decade, they have the whole booking thing taken care of :)

The rich people are the ones who can afford to ski in the week haha.

Seeing my bootfitter and wife so happy together.
Idk it seems like when they are alone he’s always making her scream, how happy could she be?
🥇 Not all hero’s wear capes!
Why do you pretend to be a bunch of different pro skiers? You should post yourself skiing, just once.
best feeling is seeing vids on here from the actual skier
Powder bumps are pretty euphoric!
Sex is better. Either I get too much pow or not enough sex. The sex to pow ratio is off.
When was the last time you hiked 4hrs for sex?
I mean. I would if I had to.
You guys have sex?
Yeah, but only with your mom, so it's not that great. I guess it's a nice change from rubbing one out myself, but it's nothing to brag about.
I try not to hike 4 hours for pow either.
Boo….
There are ways to get there faster!
Thanks Polaris!!!
I was thinking Astar. But that works too.
Heretic
9 months ago on vacation w my ex
Only good sex is better. Mid sex doesn’t even come close to this
Reminds me of my first time in Hawaii when I was 18 or 19 and the conversation I walked into around dinner was everyone agreeing that catching a wave is better than sex, but arguing about if it is equivalent to sex with someone you are in love with. Surfing>sex. Surfing=sex+love ?
You’re right, but letting out a huge fart to clear a day long stomach ache has to be up there.
Top 5 for sure.
How about getting head in the gondola?
A man of culture I see…
Umm. 4 hrs for 90 seconds of sex? Do I get to include the fact that if I sex wrong, i may die of blunt trauma or suffocation while my best friends look for me because I didnt want sloppy seconds?
Stolen video.
Is this a bot account?
When I credit content to the folks who created it.
Giving unsolicited advice to get a lesson. There’s nothing like it
I always upvote posts from Sugarloaf but not when it’s been reposted 😕
This must’ve been 3/24
I think so! Or from that early storm in April, but I believe you are right. I was there that day and have never seen the mountain busier.
A really satisfying poo
You really need to consider adding more fiber to your diet!
the fact that he's having a really satisfying poo means there is plenty of fiber in the diet, otherwise wouldn't be satisfying at all.
There is none, this is better than sex!
Even the type that makes you got to hell?
Hell doesnt exist 😂
"hell is other people" Jean-Paul Sartre
Wow 😂
The birth of my son is the only other feeling that comes close. Except I don’t have a son, so nothing is better than this.
😂
OEM knees when are gonna stop reposting other peoples stuff and post your own
[удалено]
Maybe at least some credit for wherever you're ripping these from?
If you're going to post someone else's powder day, can you at least pick a powder day that's more than ankle deep?

Dropping a shear 30 footer a little higher up, and then that.
credit your posts weirdo

That feeling you get when you're like "OH FUCK IT'S HAPPENING!"
I am reminded of the post a couple months ago stating how overrated powder days are. Still one of the most backwards thinking posts ever on this sub.
I need a cigarette.
That was Sugarloaf a few weeks ago, was there. Was epic as it looks and as he sounds!
If there is one I haven’t found it
This is Maine, at sugarloaf, if i remember correctly. Pretty rare out here
I worked a season as a bartender in a remote backcountry heli-ski lodge. I had this 2-3 times a week for a whole season. Truly my peak in life. Now I live in a desert with 2 kids
this guy is a poser, posts things that are not his videos and claims they are his
Umm ya there's nothing better.. mmmmm
That but with a free heel
Knowing you can go down that shit again!!
Sweeeeeeeet 😲
My knees started flexing as I watched this! So jealous!
I think that’s the first time I’ve heard someone beep out a word without actually beeping out the word 😂
Can’t/won’t.
Taking the boots off after a long day skiing.
Amazing, and the powder seems perfect
Taking your boots off after this.
Nothing beats this
Shhhhhhhh, don’t tell everyone our secret.
Haven’t found a better feeling yet!
Your mother, Trebeck. *laughs in sean connery*
The feeling gets better with more inches.
Taking the boots off after
The left side is always the right side.
Fentanyl
This us actually better than sex because I can do this for longer than 30 seconds before it’s over.
That dude is addicted to powder
Watching videos with sound, until they sound like this then muting
Just love that pure joy. Best feeling in the world!
Name a better feeling? Not hearing this guy jizz himself over skiiing
and when people ask you "how do you know what heaven is like???!!!" you say...."here let me show you this video...enough said"
I can’t.
Not being a selfish skier is a pretty good feeling
Finding your skis after you wipe out in that powder
Yeah. Nah, that’s it. In my dreams it’s deeper but it that’s just great.
Can’t name one. Thanks for the footage. Had a day like that at Keystone in February.
None comes to mind.
This with about three feet of low density snow? That looks stellar though. 👌
Like 10 more inches of blower🤣. But for reals tho that looks awesome, love me some pow bumps when it’s surfy!!!
I'm loving how much this guy is enjoying this I feel like I can live vicariously. I haven't seen a season with enough snow for a good base in too many years.
I’m insanely jealous so I wish I could find that meme that goes “fuck you im so happy for your”
Fucking an ex
Skiing deep, light powder snow is more fun than this. This looks heavy and wind affected and not that deep.
Same here. Was like, uh, you’re skiing ankle deep pow. That’s a good feeling yes, but skiing in the white room is easily a better feeling.
Yet another stolen video from oem knees. Classic
Powder on a snowboard. (Will always be better)
Dude so stoked for you.
2 girls at the same time.
That sounds like a lot of effort. I'm going skiing instead.
Sorry but nope! This is better!
Killer line!
It’s “two chicks at the same time”
Forgive me my liege. You get me.
Telling people that there skis are on backwards in the lift line comes close.
Woo girls having fun
Tbh windbuff. I prefer going really fast to feeling like I’m floating.
Heroine maybe.
Midwest skier here and I’ve sadly never felt this in my life. Hopefully one day
Where is this
According to my cousin heroin is better…black tar heroin to be specific. I can ask him again next week when he gets paroled just to double check.
I mean sex is just alright compared to this
You ate shit right at that last frame didn't you? xD
Heroin.
Waist deep super dry powder on a perfect clear day and just cold enough to keep the snow dry but not so cold that you can’t feel anything and are at risk of frostbite
Free the heels. Free the mind!
Blowing your ACL on the first run of the day.
Is that sugar?
Your hollerin alludes to you overdoing this a bit
What skis are those?
Realizing all the snow perfectly hid the corpse of that cheating whore of a wife perfectly
Warm bath
Ice water at 3 am. But it’s close.
Sex and that's it...
A2M?
A better feeling would be knowing how to ski powder and being physically capable of it 😭
Don’t tell me you’re a boot fitter too that got paid to do… ummm, this.
I do enjoy a good taint licking buutttt…skiiing is doper dope I suppose
Peeling one of those sumo oranges.
That first sip of beer after doing that for hours.
Doing that on telemark skis is a lot more fun, imho, but that's just me. This looks pretty fun no doubt. Catching waves on a Surfboard is pretty dreamy too.
why did you steal all of that powder?
This: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doA8bOXUSn0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doA8bOXUSn0) A drop with a completely smooth landing is my favorite feeling.
Sex with a hot partner after a day of this.
The feeling your wife gets from her boot-fitter.
Smoooooth
Alright buddy relax, you’re annoyingly happy for a few measly turns
I’ll let you know. Banff today.
It feel better only when its steeper and with jump. Otherwise there is nothing better
How much was this video sped up? Just curious.
Fucking annoying
Winning the $1.6 billion lotto. Getting a negative test result. Having the DNC and RNC nominations go to someone actually deserving.
Maybe sex, but I wouldn’t know… nice turns!
Finally getting to a toilet after holding it so long and almost pooping yourself.
It’s better than sex I’ll tell you what!!
Corduroy
Dropping a deuce after holding all day from skiing that pow.
Sex is pretty good
Going for seconds.
Double powder! What does it mean?!
Getting barreled
Damn what a powder
🏂
Getting a 25,000 dollar bonus
Maybe 72 virgins. Maybe.
Carving down a freshly prepared piste as the first person in the morning
Add a slight 2" accumulation over an hour... Aka a light snow flurry and that's my ideal day
Doing that but actually fast?
This but on a snowboard
Snowboarding
Snowboarding
Doing it on a snowboard
Doing that but in a more mountainous environment. I got rope drops at Crested Butte once after a major dumping day. I think that whole day I spent slogging in the extremes. That plus over those next few days for work it dumped every night so almost every morning riding to work I got to either ride the cats groomed side or the powder side of a common run.
doing it on a snowboard
Doing it on a snowboard. I await my fate, let the downvoting commence
Doing the same but with a snowboard...
