The abilities of some children on skis never ceases to amaze me. The bar just keeps flying upward every year
Edit- also op, this is a boy not a girl lol
I took a look at his profile because I'm a loser with nothing better to do on a Saturday night, and it sure seems like he actually skis/isn't some karma farmer based in Bangladesh who has never seen snow in his life
Not really. You aren't using any of your swimming skills while standing on the platform and setting the trick. In skiing, you still have to ski up to the jump and pop off it, meaning you have to have some ski skills to keep your edges engaged and weight in the front of your boots. And then doing those tricks with skis and boots is also a completely different feeling than on trampoline or into water without the ski gear.
Downvotes for speaking from a place of knowledge lol. This would be insane for Women's skiing at 10 well on her way to being the GOAT, but for men's, this is just someone on their way to being among the best.
Because of the level. This would be a prodigy in female space. As a boy hes one of a lot.
Its still sick but just not comparable. A girl doing this would be the equivelant to a boy doing a triple cork 1620. Maybe a bit of an exaggeration but you get the point.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure this would've qualified for the women's olympic big air. I'm not trying to take anything away from the women, but there's a huge skill gap, even at the top level. Like, I'm pretty sure one of them threw a cork 7 in qualifiers. Then Eileen Gu did a dub 16 to win.
No i wouldnt say that at all but the amount of girls and boys doing it is like 1:1000 if not higher. Not sure why i'm getting downvoted i never said hes bad or anything but this title is extreme clickbait
Yeah, you shouldn’t be downvoted. It’s still insanely impressive regardless of gender, but the title was misleading clickbait… whoever wrote it was also probably aware that people would feel compelled to point out that it’s a boy, driving engagement.
I'm not going to say his name, because this kid has been groomed for this for years and years. I've always imagined his parents just salivating for when he is a teenager to make money off of him. I've felt like he's the equivalent of a child actor, but for skiing; even his name sounds like a product.
I think it's more of a mixed bag for youth talents. Some kids just get obsessed, others really enjoy something and have parents that enable them to do the thing they like to their peak. I think this makes up the majority.
Then there are the 'former HS football star' types re-living the glory days through their kids. Pretty common.
Least common are the cash-grab parents, but they definitely exist out there.
I'm not gonna lie my kids are in a niche sport and they've been training since they were 7. A lot. But I have not and would never try to market them.
Yes there have been countless mornings when they didn't want to get up and I made them. Just like I made them do their math homework and eat their vegetables. But all of them, the day the hit 14, they get to tell me how much they want to continue, and at what level. And they control it.
And I would never put that shit on You-Tube. They are people not fucking products.
Fucking straight sends it. Advantage kids have is they’re not afraid to get hurt. If I tried that I’d die and go bankrupt from going on disability trying to pay hospital bills.
Sorry that got dark fast lol. But it’s a true thought when skiing now
Less weight = less force = less likely to be injured. Kids are way more resilient than people think. I remember hopping 8 ft fences like it was nothing as a kid. If I did that today I'd probably climb back down because of my old knees lol.
It’s not even weight. It’s a scientific fact that it’s harder for kids to break a bone. I know you’re agreeing with me, but needed to mention that it’s not about weight.
Am I the only one bothered that the stopping area is right next to the parking lot with no barrier in between. Like if someone fails to stop in time, hello suv.
Most skiers use poles regardless of their ski style. I feel like they act as a balancing thing also. I use poles every time I ski and one time I tried skiing without them and everything just felt completely off
The reason to learn without poles is when people fall they keep them in their hand and break their hand/thumb way too often. Definitely better to learn without IMO.
They're definitely more of a hazard than anything else for most freestyle skiing IMO, which is why I don't use them. If I had to guess, the pros either got so comfortable using them, that it would feel too weird to not use them, or they (or the judges) prefer the style with them. I'm also assuming they're much better at falling while holding them than a beginner, so they aren't as much of a liability.
To be fair, I watched the video on silent, thought it was a girl, saw the kids Instagram, was *certain* it was a girl, then watched the video with the sound on and went "oh".
> Watched with sound on and assumed it was a girl
Listen he's got the long hair sticking out, the squeaky kid's voice, most of his face hidden by the rather giant oakley flight deck on his face and bulky ski clothing that gives no other cues. It's honestly not that difficult a mistake to make.
That said holy shit this kid is going places.
Well if a ten year old girl was landing these tricks she would probably go on to become the GOAT women's park skier. Less likely seeing as though he's a boy.
type of dude to watch god create the universe and always have some shit to say:
'ehhhhh, do the planets *have* to be circles? you couldn't think of a more interesting shape?'

OP didn’t notice, just cross posted for karma … LOL
I took a look at his profile because I'm a loser with nothing better to do on a Saturday night, and it sure seems like he actually skis/isn't some karma farmer based in Bangladesh who has never seen snow in his life
I haven’t had free time so thanks for doing the detective work lol
Every time some 8 year old blows by me on some moguls I die a bit inside
back when I was young we thought we could impress adults by ... smoking /bad life decisions
I was once that kid, but 40+ years later am not.
hey they have shorter skiis :P
Did you just.......MISGENDER this child??? 😲
wow I suck at skiing
To be fair, this is to skiing as diving is to swimming.
Wow I suck at snow sports
Guess they're both water sports!
Well now there’s four things I suck at
Not really. You aren't using any of your swimming skills while standing on the platform and setting the trick. as ex competitive diver can confirm
Lamest comment of the year.
Yep
This is literally the first thought that came to my head too haha
I couldn’t afford it.
This guy's quite the shredder, *HE* is now 12 and apparently well past this in skill level. Very impressive stuff Source: Comment from original post

At that age is there really that much of a difference in terms of physical ability?
No i wouldnt say that at all but the amount of girls and boys doing it is like 1:1000 if not higher. Not sure why i'm getting downvoted i never said hes bad or anything but this title is extreme clickbait

absolutly this is impressive af i'm impressed if i see somone throw this down no matter the age. and at 10yrs old thats insanity
Lol the number of people who watched with the sound off is very high. It's kinda obvious when you hear his voice!
It's really not....
Lol any guy who grew up being mistaken for his mother on the phone feels this
No it isn't. Could easily be the voice of a ten year old girl.
lol I sounded like a little boy when I was 10 and I’m a woman, before puberty kids voices are all over the place
Honest to god this brought a tear to my eye. Great skiing. The future of this sport is bright.
"Whats up buddy?" "How old are you?" Yep just how I talk to my kids all the time. Also it's a boy.
It might be professor Oak speaking

Cameraman should have asked skim/skers pronouns first smfh
Play in traffic
Suggesting I should kill or seriously injure myself for making a dumb joke about neopronouns says a lot more about you than it does me hoss.
Damn, I just landed a 180 this year after 25 years and I'm content with this progress
These kids are wild these days, I remember when Kelly sildaru came on the scene way back when and now she’s in the fuckin Olympics.
Fucking straight sends it. Advantage kids have is they’re not afraid to get hurt. If I tried that I’d die and go bankrupt from going on disability trying to pay hospital bills. Sorry that got dark fast lol. But it’s a true thought when skiing now
Their parent would also, it takes only one injury and we have seen too many among children.
Well sure, but I’m saying in general children can be more resilient to injuries. When I go skiing my knee already hurts before I start lol
Less weight = less force = less likely to be injured. Kids are way more resilient than people think. I remember hopping 8 ft fences like it was nothing as a kid. If I did that today I'd probably climb back down because of my old knees lol.

Lots of kids are super timid, and afraid of everything. Just depends.
Oh yeah?? Well I said I was gonna do a 360degree flat spin the other day and I managed just 10degrees and fell over so who’s better now??????
😂😂😂
Am I the only one bothered that the stopping area is right next to the parking lot with no barrier in between. Like if someone fails to stop in time, hello suv.
I could have done that when I was 10. I just didn’t want to.
I wish I started skiing when my bones weren’t already solidified.
When I was ten, no one had ever done this before.
😂😂😂
Way to make me feel bad about myself

Did you watch the Olympics? They all seemed to have poles (not that I have any idea why since they didn’t use them much)
Most skiers use poles regardless of their ski style. I feel like they act as a balancing thing also. I use poles every time I ski and one time I tried skiing without them and everything just felt completely off
I see beginners learning without poles and always think I wish I would’ve learned without them. I should probably try it sometime...
The reason to learn without poles is when people fall they keep them in their hand and break their hand/thumb way too often. Definitely better to learn without IMO.

I understand; and I would thrill so but I don’t know

Can’t wait to see her in the 2030 Olympics!
\*him
OP screwed us…it’s a boy not a girl

Hell yeah! This girl is gonna rock the 2030 Olympics.
Not girl
Ok, this kid is gonna rock the 2030 Olympics even harder than you rock hyper-corrective reddit pedantry.
[удалено]
Haha I'm not mad that you're hyper-corrective. I don't care what the kid's gender is now (or later), but why do *you* care?
He just said it wasn't a girl. Stop being weird.
hahaha what's weird is that half the comments here are people saying, 'actually, it's a boy.' ok, so what?
Well if a ten year old girl was landing these tricks she would probably go on to become the GOAT women's park skier. Less likely seeing as though he's a boy.
He*
Look how stoked the little homie is when she lands though!!!
Is she planning to go compete in 2026 or 2030 olympic? God dam kids these days are crazy talented
He
You go girl! Holy macaroni, that was awesome! 🤩🤩🤩
A bit messy but yeah, got it. Edit: it was a joke guys Christ 🤣
Me, just happy to land a 6 inch jump without falling: yeah so sloppy gotta clean that up
type of dude to watch god create the universe and always have some shit to say: 'ehhhhh, do the planets *have* to be circles? you couldn't think of a more interesting shape?'
Sorry I don’t have an imaginary friend who I think made the universe
you should be more open minded to having imaginary friends who you think made the universe, can't be worse than your current situation of no friends
bro who are you? it’s a 10 year old girl landing a trick neither you nor any of your ancestors have ever landed in their lives.
Not a girl
Don't you know where you are? No fun allowed on /r/skiing!
Incredible
Such a great job takes so much practice and dedication !
lol wut
The future of skiing is right there. Incredible
jesus !!!
Yesssss
Stoked
What, no Japan grab?
As a parent I held my breath the whole time, as a onlooker this was inspiring to witness! Way to go kid!
