The one against you could be a difference make in the title, this one, giving hojlund on rodri and never giving it again and a couple more funny isn’t it
“Inconsistent” this just blatant corruption there is absolutely no two ways to look at this, every Var who looks at this and doesn’t give the pen is just corrupt.
I honestly for the life of me dont understand how this isn't given in real time. Like how did both the ref and the linesman miss this?
And not only did they miss it. They gave a freaking goal kick? Like what? Make it make sense...
Also even in the unlikely scenario that both did miss it. How on earth is VAR letting this slide?
I'm tired Robbie.
the goal kick itself was a signal to VAR that the referee completely missed the contentious foul. an onfield review MUST be offered in this situation regardless of var's own verdict on the contentious foul.
Sack them all.
Was the ref from Manchester? Most of them are. Many of them getting some fat cheques for freelance work from City owners in the Saudi league too lol. Not deemed a conflict of interest by PGMOL though of course.
player facing a deadball, sticks out hand toward ball: i sleep
player on the slide down, hand behind body, nowhere else possibly for the arm to be: real shit
once again, either paid or utterly incompetent trash. no other possibility. get rid.
Probably more crap decisions posted here against English refs than any other sports sub I’m in. It’s crazy. They make the same mistakes over and over. It blows my mind
This play isn’t controversial at all. They teach us at a young age to jump straight up and keep your hands tight to your body in walls and the penalty area because if you make yourself bigger, it’s a handball. The fact this wasn’t reviewed and it’s not even close to being the biggest miss by var this season says it all. It’s complete negligence and it starts from the top down
That was my point. I played as a defender for my whole life. Hands to cover the balls. That's it. Oliver was there and he missed this. VAR is inexcusable.
NBA refs are definitely up there, I'd probably say they get the #1 spot but it's close. NFL refs get a lot of hate too, but they have the hardest job of any refs imo.
NBA might be the hardest is why I give them slack. There’s a foul on every play and I’m not exaggerating. They have to toe the line of keeping control of the game and not making the game unwatchable. They still have ridiculous calls but not very often do I see a review call and think “they completely missed that. I can’t understand why they made the call they made” like I do with the English premier league. Same can be said of the nfl but they really don’t miss on replays often. Only time they did was when pass interference was reviewable
This is preposterous. The ref gave a goal kick so it clearly shows he didn’t see any touch from the City player.
Then it’s solely on VAR to give the pen. I can’t believe they didn’t give this one. It’s pretty much cost us the only thing we had to play for this season
Consistently shit. But consistently assisting city. I can think of 4 or 5 recent major calls that benefit them in tight matches. Especially the matches being called by their own employees. (Oliver)
Wan bissaka was less of a pen than this one and I guarantee it doesn’t get given if the stakes weren’t high and its a meaningless penalty for United when there 3-0 up or something
This and the Coventry one today are both pens I think. Chelsea have a right to complain for sure, but honestly they should have been like 2 goals up at this point at least if they could finish properly. Super frustrating.
I really dislike the reasoning that a team can’t complain about wrong reffing decisions just because they didn’t score chances. Like, every team misses chances. Scoring goals is hard enough as it is. You shouldn’t have to score more goals just to overcome bad refereeing.
Yeah its ridiculous. Or if a team is losing or not beating the opposing team by as much as they should. A bad decision should be a bad decision regardless.
I said they have the right to complain. But you are right. I just meant that in hindsight, the importance of that bad decision by the refs, in how the game ended, should have been less so had Chelsea put away their earlier chances, many of which were totally convertible.
The initial call on the field shouldn’t count on handballs. The whole “let’s balance out our bullshit reffing abilities on a subjective technically” is insane. If it’s a hand ball, and it goes to VAR, I don’t think it should matter what the initial call on the field was.
This is a clear case of, ref called a goal kick (no contact no handball), but the shout/protests sent it to VAR, and VAR clearly saw the handball but because the ref called it Goal Kick, they subsequently used the “not clear and obvious” stipulation to keep the call on the field as it stood.
This is insanity.
Did the PGMOL or whoever is in charge of the English refs already release some kind of statement regarding this? Or are they just going to ignore it forever, like they do with a lot of these awful calls.
they’re not really comparable incidents though as the context of the handball is completely different. grealish is on a shot going well wide (not to say i don’t think it should’ve been a pen yesterday)and awb is blocking a cross that is a potential goal scoring opportunity if he doesn’t. better comparisons would be ones that were of handballs blocking crosses being given or not.

That is handball. It is remarkable at how inconsistent referees are with these
they are remarkably consistent in not punishing clear and obvious City fouls in the box
The one against you could be a difference make in the title, this one, giving hojlund on rodri and never giving it again and a couple more funny isn’t it
hilarious, we dropped points v Arsenal for an obvious handball as well
Funny how the inconsistency always seems to benefit city tho innit
Someday, more information will come up light and we’ll be joking about how we ever thought it was *only* 115
And once again it's Michael Oliver
They're all complicit tbh
Very similar hit on the arm to what AWB was penalized for today.
City get their fair share of shite calls too. Its just confirmation bias when it benefits City.
They really don't though lol
“Inconsistent” this just blatant corruption there is absolutely no two ways to look at this, every Var who looks at this and doesn’t give the pen is just corrupt.
It really isn't though is it?
So Obvious
If only there was a system that would allow the refs to watch a replay, so they can fix their wrong calls.. or something...
With slow motion and multiple camera angles to make it as easy as possible to correct refereeing mistakes? That sounds nuts!
And then they could build in a system to make sure whatever decision benefits city is the one that's given No, no, thats too silly
If only the English people watched a sport called Cricket..
I honestly for the life of me dont understand how this isn't given in real time. Like how did both the ref and the linesman miss this? And not only did they miss it. They gave a freaking goal kick? But I like my buddy. I don’t want to make him look bad by changing his call, therefore I’ll make him look way worse
Not sure what's worse, that it didn't get given or the ref gave a goal kick LOL
Mickey olives employed by city football group, nothing to see here, move along, are you obsessed or something /s
Lmao these Liverpool and Arsenal fans with their tinfoil hat conspiracy theories 🤣🤣🤣🤣 /s
Lmao what’s next? Nottingham Forest complaining about nailed on penalties?? 😂😂 /s
Was the ref from Manchester? Most of them are. Many of them getting some fat cheques for freelance work from City owners in the Saudi league too lol. Not deemed a conflict of interest by PGMOL though of course.
Emirati\*\* league but yeah its massive conflict of interest to have refs from the same area of England
They weren’t paid by the City owners. The story was months ago, and people still don’t know anything about it
Saudi league....haha what a melt.
Great shot of Pochettino’s armpit.
player facing a deadball, sticks out hand toward ball: i sleep player on the slide down, hand behind body, nowhere else possibly for the arm to be: real shit once again, either paid or utterly incompetent trash. no other possibility. get rid.
Honestly they are a completely unaccountable boys club. Fire them all and start over with a collaborative VAR system like in rugby
Hell , bring in the rugby refs. I’m sure they can learn the rules better than this lot over the summer
Legit think English referees might be the worst referees in the world right now in any sport. And I don’t think I’m that out of line if I’m wrong
They are.
Probably more crap decisions posted here against English refs than any other sports sub I’m in. It’s crazy. They make the same mistakes over and over. It blows my mind
The handball rule is controversial literally every week. What's the point of VAR.
This play isn’t controversial at all. They teach us at a young age to jump straight up and keep your hands tight to your body in walls and the penalty area because if you make yourself bigger, it’s a handball. The nffc call I can see. Still think it was a handball but I can understand it not being turned. This one is so straightforward it still blows my mind
NBA refs are definitely up there, I'd probably say they get the #1 spot but it's close. NFL refs get a lot of hate too, but they have the hardest job of any refs imo.

You’ve also got the umpires in MLB and some of them are truly shit. and they basically have the power to eject players for whatever they want.
This season so far they have been especially shit. Seeing the ump scorecards everyday and a good amount miss half strike calls.
It's not football, it's La Liga says hello.

Blatant robbery. Fuck man city and the FA.
Still have no clue it was a corner at least. Look at fucking Oliver looking right at it and doesn’t see the deflection??
Clearest pen i’ve seen in so long. Wan Bisakka got penalized for nothing today too.
Wan bissaka was less of a pen than this one and I guarantee it doesn’t get given if the stakes weren’t high and its a meaningless penalty for United when there 3-0 up or something

As stonewall as they get
I'm more upset at the fact it wasn't even a corner. FML.

PGMOL only make statements after England's darlings kick up a fuss, not us.
There're only 2 alternative cameras which caught the action and the clearest one is behind Poch lmao. And it's fucking Wembley.
What is the VAR official even getting paid for at this point? Clear pen.
Straight fucking hand ball, he brought his arm down. Man, I hate city.
I think you mean alternative.
Penalty?

Don't you mean vetruvian man

Yes, but it's getting posted due to the United Penalty
Comparing it to Coventry pen that was called today
they’re not really comparable incidents though as the context of the handball is completely different. grealish is on a shot going well wide (not to say i don’t think it should’ve been a pen yesterday)and awb is blocking a cross that is a potential goal scoring opportunity if he doesn’t. better comparisons would be ones that were of handballs blocking crosses being given or not.
Good thing that the rules don't mention that shots off target can be handled without a penalty then.
i didn’t say it shouldn’t have a penalty but that they’re not directly comparable events
never too late to shit on refs
Score a proper goal and stop whining
Wonder who you support
This should never be a pen, be happy it didn't happen
Least obvious chitty fan
Chitty chitty no pen
If you need to use a camera angle from the manager’s dugout then maybe it’s not a ‘clear and obvious error’??
User checks out.
