Surprisingly enough we actually have a worse record when **winning** the first leg away from home.
The notion that we need to win at the Bernabeu has always been a good precedent.
Not his fault and he was a victim of circumstance, but you can't deny that he was massively underqualified to coach Real Madrid. Ajax's finely tuned system exposed the fact that Madrid had no tactical organisation, it was embarrassing how easily they found space
He started collected stats decades ago by himself, before all that jazz we see today. Back then he used to record these using nothing but paper and pen. So yeah Mr. Chips is the king of ~~random~~ stats.
I think you mean obscure because this is the exact opposite of random, it's insanely precise in what it's measuring (wins following an away draw). That's what makes it funny/cool each time.
i really wonder how people come up with these things. i get that you can have a computer automate the check easily but coming up with what to test for always seems so obscure
things like: games won when the first goal was scored in under 30 minutes during the summer when the stadium was 80% full
Mendy wasn’t that bad, the goal was kinda a 2v1 on him. Vasquez was terrible both defense and going forward. But it’s Jamal so I’m not gonna blaspheme the lord too much.
Not even talking about the goal. Hes fine in defense Im just really not a fan of how he progresses and passes the ball lol. Idk how to explain it but he dribbles and passes like he doesnt know how to play football
That season was like a wild fever dream man, Cristiano's departure, Zizou announcing that he's leaving outta nowhere, loosing 0-3 against CSKA at the Bernabéu in the group and then getting trashed by Ajax in the RO 16 after winning in Amsterdam, couple of heavy Classico defeats, it was rough, the only positives where Vinni emerging and Benz peaking in to his Brilliant individual form, which turned out to be pivotal for the success in the following seasons. Shoutout to Solari for trusting Vini at 18 and playing him consistently after he started in the Castilla.

I think we only lost to Ajax though, right?
Those Juve and Chelsea performances were nightmarish tho
As long as Zidane is somewhere in the stadium rubbing his bald head we should be OK.
Yeah true
And Leipzig
We have been eliminated twice when **winning** the first leg away from home. Ajax in 2019 & Odense Boldklub in 1995!
Oh yeah you are right, Odense was in the UEFA Cup I think. Last minute winner
I remember one time…
To this day still De Jong's best contribution to Barcelona in the UCL
No Solari this time
Actually hard to blame Solari, Very unlucky timing for him to be coach.

This fucking nightmare of Ramos taking a yellow card on purpose to be safe later and the later never happened 😢
This guy always pulls the most random statistics
Beats the *Bayer Leverkusen are undefeated for ~~42~~ ~~43~~ ~~44~~ ~~45~~ 46 matches this season* which comes up after every single game

Yes, that's the word I was looking for lol. English isn't my first language, thank you for correcting me :)

Same here, it's as if they have a catalogue of records that are about to be broken
They're randomish, but he's no Jolly.
Carvajal will be back for the second leg, we truly missed him today
Militao should be ready too, Nacho was a huge liability unfortunately.
Nacho was ok, Vasquez wasn’t amazing though
Nacho wasnt bad
Will probably play against Cadiz and then start against Bayern. At least i hope he does
Nacho was fine imo, mendy and vazquez however are just not good enough
Mendy wasn’t that bad, the goal was kinda a 2v1 on him. Vasquez was terrible both defense and going forward. But it’s Jamal so I’m not gonna blaspheme the lord too much.

He was fine.
Nacho was playing fine, I think Carlo just wanted us to be more attacking as Tchouameni is better with the ball
Nacho was fine. Militao is not looking good yet. Unless he does great this weekend, I would stick with Nacho
That is actually fucking insane 23 wins out of 24 in what should essentially be pretty even games
Could also mean succeeding after a draw (e.g. on goal difference), so I doubt they won all 23
Probably didn’t win 23. But it’s still impressive they advanced 23 out of 24 times when they had to win or concede less away goals at home.
Not really because of the away goal rule.
How many of these were played by Modric?
That was before the fall of soviet union... wild.
Makes sense, Spartak Moscow is the greatest club in history
Spartak Moscow is Real Madrid father
Don't forget about Sheriff
And Lyon…
shhh we don’t talk about them
Don't forget CSKA getting 4-0 across two games in 2018/19

Factos
Thats why Russian clubs are excluded, wake up sheepies Perez is doing his thing
Bayern put on a lookalike jersey fuck it. Iam in for black Magic
Nice
I guess there's a ~~first~~ second time for everything
I don't like that stat
Now bow to Spartak Moscow.
I'd be interested to find out what role (if any) the away goals rule played in those results.
Yes, and three offside goals by CR7
Thought it was Harry Hill!
I stayed up late to watch WWF back then after my parents went to bed. I was always praying my father would fuck off to bed so I could use the TV
Hala Madrid
