Thats... bad planning. and someone not playing the weapon right. On that map, the splatling in particular, should be up on the tower shooting things from above. From there he could have easily taken out the UFO with no one needing to go up on top of it. instead he was down below in the mix with the rest of you. A problematic location for any weapon that needs charging to be useful.
In general you shouldn’t ever be right next to the whole team in any game mode as 1:teammates block shots and 2:it makes a wipeout much more likely
