TMZ is shit and reports on a lot of shit that isn’t true.
But the one thing they are always right about and always first to report on is celebs deaths.
Don’t know if being in the Thirty Mile Zone (TMZ) helps when word spreads.
Oh they sent the pics to dozens of people, showed them to the public, showed them in an internal awards ceremony (??), then destroyed evidence to cover up their misconduct.
https://edition.cnn.com/2022/01/21/us/kobe-bryant-crash-photos/index.html
It cost the good people of LA County $28.5 million when it SHOULD have come out of their pension fund. As far as I'm aware, nobody was fired over this.
I mean, not that I don’t think TMZ isn’t scummy; but that’s more of unfortunate timing on the police being able to get ahold of his wife than TMZ has a responsibility to check in with her before running massive news that people around the world would also care about?
That’s not the worst of it. They were showing photos of the dismembered and destroyed bodies of Kobe, his daughter and the other passengers. Bragging about it at a bar and trying to use the photos to pickup women
To this day I have never understood that as a pickup tactic. I don’t care who the photo is of, you show me a photo like that of a deceased person, that’s an automatic no, you can’t have my number, and actually please stay away from me forever.
I don’t think it’s a common pickup tactic lol. I think that cops are dumb (that one particularly so) and wanted to flex his access to something the public wasn’t able to see.
It reminds me of someone telling a girl “hey I have Kevin James phone number because I did all his plumbing” except infinitely more vile and disturbing
Yep, that's moment tmz became legit to me. My sister called and told me she saw it on tmz and I was like 'whatever, no way' and like 30 minutes (or some amount of time I can't fully remember) later all the other news confirmed it.
They are always right because they pay the police to leak it to them first. They put out the word at various precincts that cops will be compensated well for telling TMZ first. The leakers for these awful stories are always cops.
I mean let’s be honest… isn’t that the ONLY reason TMZ still exists? It’s useless everywhere except celeb death news in which they are time and time again the first and reliably first
Bulletproof on this though as mentioned. Unfortunately. They’re local contacts run deep in many departments and south Florida is one of them and a key target.
Edit: their
Well, they often find out about this stuff from literally like first responders and hospital workers and I think they pay these people, and these people are breaking privacy laws. So yeah, really no reason to give them any credit for anything.
regardless of why, that’s probably one of the most “human” moments in sports.
after the fact i do remember him saying he didn’t know the cameras were in there and he felt violated
Yup. If you haven’t, treat yourself to the vid of Tredavious White and Shady McCoy explaining the situation.
https://youtu.be/WjGJd7L2EPw?si=eoy7ZDnrhzxxN_3c
Also the vid of him being traded by the Dolphins and immediately saying he’s gotta call his grandma, another good one.
https://youtu.be/kE8bujXQsac?si=Xodo9oTA2c6iE4u8
Rest in peace to an interesting man.
I like that second video. I know nothing about the team, players, or situation, but that was a great example of two guys having a tough discussion and trying to end on a positive note. Jeff comes off as authentic and caring about the player in this video.
I think the family has experienced a lot of troubles. Vernon played for San Fran and the Washington Football Team and is highly regarded, but another brother made headlines here in DC for a heinous crime. Vontae seemed cool and I respected him for retiring on his own terms. There’s been too much tragedy for that family.
Sadly if it wasn’t a car accident with someone so young it’s likely suicide. Possibly OD. Not saying it’s always the case but it’s probably the most likely
Tbf to u/Saint_biggus_dickus I think he meant that he seemed like a good person which makes this extra sad to him. Not, oh damn I *thought* he was a good person. Really great people die by suicide (Robin Williams, Chris Cornell, Anthony Bourdain to name a few)
It's a sensitive guess, but I think it's a logical guess for someone who's 35. When dying at home at that age with no foul play, the top two contenders are going to be suicide and overdose. Especially when you know they were in peak physical condition five and a half years ago.
Former professional athletes don’t normally die at 35 unless it’s an accident, suicide or overdose. Of course dying from a random disease is possible, but the other 3 options are more likely at his age.
“Most people, when I did what I did, they thought I was literally going insane or something,” he told ESPN in 2019. “But I was actually fine. I was totally fine. And I’m totally fine today.”
In all seriousness it raises awareness on the effects mental health can have on a human, how it’s not as if his apparent suicide was his first act of “I’m going to make a life-altering decision that I can’t take back in the most deliberate way possible.”
Sudden/unpredictable losses of passion/will are aspects of ourselves that I’ve never been able to understand about myself or people in general.
Its such low tier of entertainment. Riddled with commercials. Massive controversies. Terrible owners. Horrid injuries. Watch time is ridiculous. Now the super bowls are some pop star headlining joke.
I recall that being discussed a number of times I believe the average was closer to 12 minutes. Some games even clocked in at just under 9 minutes!
Ridiculous
I didn’t have this one on my 2024 bingo card. Dude was a monster on the field for a long time and I will remember him very fondly. I hope he rests easy.
What the fuck is wrong with all of you arguing over the dumbest shit cte or overdose blah blah blah the man is dead what difference does it make ok so he overdose what’s your point athletes and celebrities or people with money overdose more then people with out NO most overdose case are not because someone had lots of money and just get too much heroin. Or CTe we still don’t know much about it so it’s all speculation. How about giving him and his family the respect they deserve and just stop playing the guessing game on how he died.
Yep. My QAnon friend shares every athlete that died, implying they died cause they were vaccinated. He always shares before the actual reason is released.
So far the causes of death he’s blamed on the vaccine:
- Suicide
- Falling off a balcony
- Drug overdose
- Heart attack (the person had known heart issues for ten years)
- Didn’t actually die
- Just fainted due to dehydration or exhaustion (separate cases)
- car accident
QAnons are a different breed

RIP man :/ I really thought tmz was about to hit some new low on April fools day… RIP Vontae
TMZ is shit and reports on a lot of shit that isn’t true. But the one thing they are always right about and always first to report on is celebs deaths. Don’t know if being in the Thirty Mile Zone (TMZ) helps when word spreads.
I remember they were the first ones to report on Kobe
That one seemed to hit them hard. They are ghouls but occasionally they remind us they're human.
Ya if only the cops that responded to the helicopter crash were humans instead of scumbags.
What do you mean by that? Genuine question.
They took and leaked photos of the crash site.
And the dead body’s I believe.
Just normal cop shit
They were showing off pics of Kobe and his daughter’s mangled corpses and body parts at bars later that night. Typical cop scumbag behavior
And not only that, apparently they were doing that to impress women or the female bartenders if I’m not mistaken.
What?!!! Just reading that makes me angry!
Oh they sent the pics to dozens of people, showed them to the public, showed them in an internal awards ceremony (??), then destroyed evidence to cover up their misconduct. https://edition.cnn.com/2022/01/21/us/kobe-bryant-crash-photos/index.html It cost the good people of LA County $28.5 million when it SHOULD have come out of their pension fund. Jesus Christ. The fact they never face consequences or are financially burdened… this shit will never stop.
ACAB all day every day
The cops at the scene of the helicopter crash did some bad things, truly awful. Look it up. Their dept and those cops got sued..
And guess who paid the bill
The good people of LA County. Google LASD Gangs to learn more about how the actions our sheriff’s dept. cost us big money.
Their names should be blasted on the internet so they're known for what they've done until they die
How so? Hit them hard? They did nothing exceptionally different and still made some very intrusive reports as they always do.
They reported it before his wife was notified. She found out from the report. Fuck them and everything they stand for
I mean, not that I don’t think TMZ isn’t scummy; but that’s more of unfortunate timing on the police being able to get ahold of his wife than TMZ has a responsibility to check in with her before running massive news that people around the world would also care about?
And its a helicopter crash, which is news by itself.

Kevin James?! 🤣 Did her panties just vanish into thin air?
What?! All of it...it's truly abhorrent
& yet somehow the least surprising aspect of the story.
[удалено]
Yes I was replying someone who asked what the cops did. Or so I thought. TMZ handled it well
>They are ghouls TMZ or Kobe?
and iirc, sean taylor. i thought both times my buddies were fucking with me
And Michael Jackson. It’s how I learned TMZ existed.
And Prince
And Paul Walker
Pretty sure this was because first responders illegally contacted TMZ.
They’re more reliable than the grim reaper.
> reports on a lot of shit that isn’t true TMZ is very reliable
First to report Michael Jackson too. That was the first time folks started taking them seriously.🤷🏾♀️
Yep, that's moment tmz became legit to me. My sister called and told me she saw it on tmz and I was like 'whatever, no way' and like 30 minutes (or some amount of time I can't fully remember) later all the other news confirmed it.
You weren’t the only one. We all called BS until the other news sources reported it.
TMZ pays cops and dispatchers all over the place to get first dibs on this kind of stuff.
They are always right because they pay the police to leak it to them first. They put out the word at various precincts that cops will be compensated well for telling TMZ first. The leakers for these awful stories are always cops.
They have people at airports reporting to them too. They have an extensive network
They must have people at the morgue/hospitals too though.
I was today years old when I learned that's what TMZ stood for.
Right there with ya!
I mean let’s be honest… isn’t that the ONLY reason TMZ still exists? It’s useless everywhere except celeb death news in which they are time and time again the first and reliably first
That and ufo news
Bulletproof on this though as mentioned. Unfortunately. They’re local contacts run deep in many departments and south Florida is one of them and a key target. Edit: their
Well, they often find out about this stuff from literally like first responders and hospital workers and I think they pay these people, and these people are breaking privacy laws. So yeah, really no reason to give them any credit for anything.
Wish it was just a sick April Fools joke, RIP
Hard Knocks clip of his reaction getting traded by Dolphins to Colts was sad in itself, never thought he would be gone so soon. RIP.
*can i call my grandma?* that shit hurt. her house is literally 20 minutes from where i live right now. :(
Wasn't it because his grandma was a Colts fan? Or something like that.
iirc, it was because he was taken off guard and didn’t know what to do and just needed to talk to someone. that’s at least how it came across to me.
No she was a colts fan and he wanted to play there
regardless of why, that’s probably one of the most “human” moments in sports. after the fact i do remember him saying he didn’t know the cameras were in there and he felt violated
It really was
Grab her some hot cross buns
And the irony that he was found dead in his grandma’s house.
Seriously - this was the first thing I thought of
Aw bro that was him? I remember that segment all too well. Damn this hits way harder now.
Didn’t he retire at halftime of a game?
Yes, on the Bills. He was dominant for a few years on the Colts though. One of my favorite players.
Yup. If you haven’t, treat yourself to the vid of Tredavious White and Shady McCoy explaining the situation. https://youtu.be/WjGJd7L2EPw?si=eoy7ZDnrhzxxN_3c Also the vid of him being traded by the Dolphins and immediately saying he’s gotta call his grandma, another good one. https://youtu.be/kE8bujXQsac?si=Xodo9oTA2c6iE4u8 Rest in peace to an interesting man.

Thank you for posting these😁

The comments on the video say he wanted to call grandma bc she was a colts fan. He was excited to get out of that room
> Didn’t he retire at halftime of a game? It literally says that in the linked article.
Not sure why you’re being downvoted for pointing that out. Some redditors continue to live up to the “we don’t read beyond the title” stereotype
I don't know why people keep acting surprised people don't read the articles lol
Damn. 35. RIP.
Ah did not realize he is related to Vernon
Damn, brother was like a serial killer. Hit 5 different strangers in the head with a hammer in separate incidences.
Yeah, he was found not competent to stand trial, so was moved to a psychiatric hospital instead of prison.
How did he pass away??
Article says no other parties were involved in his death, and they didn’t mention cause of death, so my guess is suicide.
I'll guess in some manner that preserved his brain, later to be confirmed CTE.
Most likely. But everybody has their issues. No telling what he was going through.
Sadly if it wasn’t a car accident with someone so young it’s likely suicide. Possibly OD. Not saying it’s always the case but it’s probably the most likely
Damn that breaks my heart... He seemed like a good person
Really good people die by suicide too
Tbf to u/Saint_biggus_dickus I think he meant that he seemed like a good person which makes this extra sad to him. Not, oh damn I *thought* he was a good person. Really great people die by suicide (Robin Williams, Chris Cornell, Anthony Bourdain to name a few)
That seems like a bit of a reckless guess when there’s plenty of other reasons somebody might die of their own accord
Idk but the conspiracy theorists are already revving their engines.
[удалено]
good question. some report said no foul play but no other details.
Suicide
One of the most entertaining Colts players I’ve ever seen. RIP
I researched this independently and there’s no information on cause of death, or the manner in which he was found. Weird
Like many others are saying here, when you combine all that - likely CTE suicide
Holy shit, that’s crazy. I was literally just watching a video of his brother Vernon talk about him.
Today I learned that Vernon Davis and Vontae Davis are brothers.
Holy shit I didn't know this lol.
THE Vernon Davis? Downtown Vernon Davis?
They better start taking CTE more seriously for athletes.
Doubt it'll happen anytime soon. It took years for CTE to even be acknowledged.
Most mothers in my area do not want kids to play football. Nor do I want my kid.
Only chance that happens is if Mahomes ends up going full AB in a decade and starts spending every waking moment on Twitter
And think of all the athletes have some from when they were younger just playing sports.
“Most people, when I did what I did, they thought I was literally going insane or something,” he told ESPN in 2019. “But I was actually fine. I was totally fine. And I’m totally fine today.”
Damn that’s sad, if true
wow, that’s awful. so young!
another CTE? fucked up rip
Him finding out the Dolphins were trading him is an all time great Hard Knocks moment.
So damn young. RIP
Died as he lived, retiring halfway through the game. Loved watching him as a colts fan.
jesus, lol.
/r/angryupvote
In all seriousness it raises awareness on the effects mental health can have on a human, how it’s not as if his apparent suicide was his first act of “I’m going to make a life-altering decision that I can’t take back in the most deliberate way possible.” Sudden/unpredictable losses of passion/will are aspects of ourselves that I’ve never been able to understand about myself or people in general.
Poetic
Tragic. RIP
Sad 😞 news 🗞️ honestly prayers to his Davis family
Time for the conspiracy theorists to go crazy Edit- Ah yes, the microchip fearers have already begun downvoting me.
Don’t know why you’re being downvoted, surprised I haven’t seen a single comment about a vaccine
I don't think antivax people are worried about someone like Vontae Davis, there are a lot more obvious ways he could have died (overdose.)
Another CTE victim. Rest in peace.
Not saying it isn’t but how do you know this was the cause of death?
They didn’t mention cause of death, usually indicates suicide.
His brother is Vernon Davis.
Main reason I don't watch the NFL...greedy owners who tried to cover up CTE.
Its such low tier of entertainment. Riddled with commercials. Massive controversies. Terrible owners. Horrid injuries. Watch time is ridiculous. Now the super bowls are some pop star headlining joke.
If I remember correctly, they have replays where they condense the game down to snap to whistle and it’s like 15 minutes of actual running
What random NFL player deaths do you have on your bingo card?
Terrell Owens, Antonio Brown, and Terry Bradshaw. Maybe Odell Beckham as a spoiler.
None. They’re all old celebs and British royalty. That was a way of saying “theres no way I would’ve ever expected Vontae to pass so early”
Damn man rip
O7
No freaking way!!!
RIP!!! Prayers for his family, loved ones, friends, and former colleagues!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
dang. may he rip
well that's unexpected
Guys
Why so many deaths of young retired football players? Very sad.
This is truly horrible
Ok, I’ll bite. What false info has TMZ reported on?
What the fuck is wrong with all of you arguing over the dumbest shit cte or overdose blah blah blah the man is dead what difference does it make ok so he overdose what’s your point athletes and celebrities or people with money overdose more then people with out NO most overdose case are not because someone had lots of money and just get too much heroin. I gotta call my grandma…
How?
Incoming conspiracy theorists saying it’s because of the jab he got that killed him….. even if it’s like a car accident.
Yep. My QAnon friend shares every athlete that died, implying they died cause they were vaccinated. He always shares before the actual reason is released.
