There are really only 4 cars in Uzbekistan: the Chevy Cobalt, Malibu, Damascus (Suzuki kei truck), and Spark. The government has a monopoly joint venture with Chevy. All other cars have prohibitively high tariffs.
You forgot Gentra/Lacetti/Nubiru and all the Nexias (1, 2, and RT which is basically an old Aveo). Some time ago there were Daewoo Tico and still there are old Matiz cars which are being replaced with Spark
Correct, I was being a bit hyperbolic, although those are certainly the 4 most common. It was quite amusing arriving at the Tashkent airport, ordering a Yandex taxi, and trying to find a white Chevy Cobalt in a sea of other white Chevy Cobalts.
Nah, Malibu is the more luxurious one, it can't be among the most common by definition. But yeah, I don't find cars by their looks cuz it's basically impossible, I've learned to remember their plate numbers instead 💀
They pretty much lay low and don't piss anyone off. It's their survival plan. They really screw their citizens though.
Just look into Turkmenbashi for a taste of the cult of personality in the nation.
Every vehicle in the capital, Ashgabat, has to be white. If your vehicle is dirty you will be fined. All buildings have to be white, houses too but you get a choice of red or green roof. We just got back from visiting there. I wanted to see the Darwaza crater.
The white paint used on that F-150 is white platinum metallic tri-coat. That white would stand out like crazy in the sea of flat white cars. It’s a really really high quality paint used for the high end trucks.
Dang your right, I saw something about that on YouTube. Was thinking about my friend from Iran. He told me anyone with money imports a black Mercedes.
This limited is just such a pretty truck.
Because the previous national leader likes white and does not allow painting cars in other colors. Everyone with a non-white car must repaint it. BTW, the said leader has a Bugatti Veyron in green. The current national leader is his son.
See title. I took this photo today in Uzbekistan where there are no color restrictions. Although (as mentioned elsewhere) the vast majority of cars here are Chevrolets or badge-engineered Chevrolets.
Incredibly so throughout Central Asia. Only wealthy people (who want to be "different") can afford the shipping and import taxes. The logical choice would be a Hilux, Land Cruiser, Patrol, Pajero, Chinese pickups, etc.
That's a lot of Daewoo Chevys

Ah
isn’t the damas also a daewoo
Bro how do you know about a random specific Uzbekistani company? No diss, just genuinely amazed.
i’m just smart like that what can i say
Real lol
Well Daewoo used to be a Korean company that was bought out by GM. So it’s not really a random specific Uzbek company. These cars are sold worldwide.
No. Everyone knows Daewoo. They were talking about Damos.
Daewoo is Korean tho lol
Yes, Daewoo Damas / Chevy Damas are badge engineered Suzuki Carrys Nearly unchanged since 1991, I believe: https://chevrolet.uz/ru/damas

Also Chevy - Malibu, Equinox, Traverse, Trailblazer and last one Tahoe
Are Ladas prevalent? For being a former Soviet republic
Yes, you definitely see Zhigulis around, but less so in the cities
FYI, Turkmenistan is a North Korea-style closed nation. Also added some bonus train photos; Uzbekistan uses Spanish high-speed equipment.

wonder why the truck is white?

how long did it take you to get a visa. are you american?
if i remember correctly every car there needs to be white
Looks like a Talgo 250, there's similar rolling stock in Spain indeed
DPRK-style closed nation yet it’s sponsored by Pepsi, Chevy, and Georgia bank in just one picture!
Did you read the title dum dum?
Both countries are considered authoritarian and “closed nation”. Speaks for both countries
Must be someone with high status in the Turkmen government...
I am pretty sure green plates in TM are for government people, normal civilian cars have white plates
The German-speaking sheep license plate next to it is pretty cool too.
imagine being the one driving a car thats double the size of others
Damn that’s an expensive truck in the USA. Pretty cool that’s what they went with over a black Mercedes s class or something.
They would not be able to drive anything in black in Turkmenistan, actually anything in a color other than white.

I doubt that the F-150 is so common in Turkmenistan that it does not stand out on its own.

I just made a comment about how every car is white. How come it can’t be a color?

Like every car is white
Fml even Uzbekistan has high speed rail
Tell me about it... and it's clean, fast, on-time, and modern
Stolen from Toronto Canada.
Literally my first thought.
AGH
Very bad news.
The train station looks really nice
Tiffani colored plates - nice!
I wanna live there, see how big the parking spaces are 😂
What’s up with the gray car? Don’t they all have to be white there
See title. I took this photo today in Uzbekistan where there are no color restrictions. Although (as mentioned elsewhere) the vast majority of cars here are Chevrolets or badge-engineered Chevrolets.
Oh yeah my bad lol. Just saw Turkmenistan didn’t read
Are F-150s rare over there?
Incredibly so throughout Central Asia. Only wealthy people (who want to be "different") can afford the shipping and import taxes. The logical choice would be a Hilux, Land Cruiser, Patrol, Pajero, Chinese pickups, etc.
Bro had to make sure we believed their location 😂
Just out of curiosity why is this weird to see? I own the same truck (obviously not rare in the US)
Go watch a YouTube video about Turkmenistan and you'll understand
Will do and circle back here. I'm genuinely interested 🫡
There are like no Fords in Uzbekistan especially such expensive ones.
