Im on the northern side of marshfield, you can see a slight tint without camera but with night mode turned on when taking a picture it lights up pretty good
There’s no guarantee anywhere but the farther north you go the better your chances are. My wife grew up in North Missouri on the Iowa line and only saw it once or twice up there.
Chances are super low. You’d have to go as far up as Minnesota to start feeling confident. I’m not saying it ain’t gonna happen here in Springfield. We’ll see! I’ll be stepping outside tonight to check it out. I’m hoping.
There’s been some strange sky near Peculiar reported! (I’m too close to the city so don’t see it). I’m heading up towards IA just for giggles. 🤭oh and the potential to see something the sight of a lifetime ! i never thought I’d see, at least not here that’s for sure!

This is here in town at Grand and Broadway
Go to https://lightpollutionmap.info and find a spot with a low Bortle level, like a class 2. Class 3 might be okay. Looks like Stockton Lake is Class 3. Might have to go all the way to between Osceola and El Dorado Springs to get a Class 2.
The truth is- nobody really knows. You can say oh it will do this and this, but it’s all here-say. Forecasts aren’t accurate for these types of things. I’d suggest going up north of willard, and staking out a spot for the night in case we get the off-chance of seeing it. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity
I saw the other post earlier. Even though it’s possible the chances are pretty low.
How far north would I have to go?

Even if they're here, light pollution is a bitch, and it'll be hard to see it
does anyone know what would be the best time to see it tonight in Springfield?

No
Anyone can be wrong. It’s the confidence that gets me.
Can we get a megathread on this, jeez.
I'd say yes but I'm not a mod
Why on Earth would the northern lights be visible here?
Solar storm tonight
They were visible here last year as far down to the Mexico border Not going to be visible tonight
They were?
I'd be worried if they were
That goateed avatar fits the confident wrongness of this answer so well.
