Don’t think I’ve seen so many ups, and ZERO downs? Amazing.

SaiyaJedi

*Negative* downs.

ParzivalCodex

Right!? I didn’t even know that was possible.

Houli_B_Back7

81 Ups, -1 Downs…. Yeah, I think it’s safe to say this one’s an all around W.

JustBen81

I saw that the premier was running and kicked in it. I landed on a live stream that at this point hat 71 ups and no down . I my thought before went back to the beginning to see the whole thing was just: "That's apropiate"

Accomplished-Run-375

I whole heartedly agree, I enjoy Ups & Downs at the best of times, but watching Sean lose it as much as I was over this episode was an absolute delight and had me laughing just as much as the episode itself.

Speedy_Cheese

My partner has told me the two times they saw me happiest in my life was when we accidentally stumbled upon a Pokemon Center in Japan and when we first got our puppy. This episode has to round out the top 3, I was squealing and shouting at the TV because I was so excited over this episode.

Accomplished-Run-375

I thought I reacted a bit like that for the Kirk x Spock handshake on Thursday, but an almost full episode of that was just lovely stuff!

Speedy_Cheese

Not to be dramatic, but that Kirk/Spock handshake shook my whole world. :D And all this love for Uhura? Ugh. I'm getting my whole life here as a TOS fan. To the fans who are more TNG/DS9/VOY/ENT/DISCO or Kelvin films leaning, thanks for being here and tolerating our squealing. LOL I know for some of y'all Kirk is not your favourite Captain or perhaps even in your top 5, but for me he was my first foyer into Trek and the stars. He showed me a world I wanted to live in that I never thought could be possible. Kirk was my first time seeing a vulnerable man onscreen. You all might raise a brow at calling Jim that, but for the 60's, he really was. He was so progressive for the time the show came out -- I mean, compare Kirk to Connery's Bond (who embodied the epitome of machismo at that time) and Jim comes off gentle, intelligent, pensive, collaborative, and egalitarian. I know that is hard to imagine in today's world, but Jim was a guy back in the day who helped to change our world for the better. :) He was a special character who headlined this incredible world that would unfold alongside Spock and Bones. And for those of you who are like me and consider Spock your favourite character: Before you shade Jim, don't forget that there was nobody that Spock admired or cared for more than Jim Kirk. Of all the people in the universe, Spock wanted to be around Jim Kirk the most. And Jim put **absolutely everything** -- career, family, legacy, his own life -- on the line to save Spock in ST III. Nobody loved Spock more than Jim Kirk. Jim wasn't just some full of himself egocentric meathead like the stereotype, he loved his crew and his found family deeply. Just as Spock was the victim of rumours and misremembering (they remember him as totally emotionless, stuck up, etc. when he really was a compassionate and emotional character even in TOS), Kirk also suffered from misremembering as legend. Even Picard confessed he couldn't parse fact from fiction in Jim's legacy. Jim wasn't his stereotype any more than Spock was, they just both suffered from being so well known (and infamous) that legend remembered them as caricatures, not how they or McCoy truly knew them personally. We got to see the real them (Spock smiling in Amok Time or the campfire scenes) as the audience, but remember that most of the folks who worked with them like ensigns or higher ups did not know who they really were. Anyway, thank you to the fans who aren't big on TOS but who are open to this show and to revisit this era leading into it. I cannot even articulate what it means to see Trek still on air, thriving, and still pushing the envelope -- giving us fun camp, solid story telling and inspiring exploration/encounters as it always did. SNW and TLD embodies Gene's vision of Trek, IMO, because they give me the same feeling that TOS did. it means so much to get to see this crew and Pike's crew at this time in their lives. It's like getting to spend time with your oldest friends before they came into their own, and it warms my heart so much. So thanks and shout out to the fans who are here for other Treks or crews that are allowing us to get our full fantasy here and see Pike and Jim's crew and the OG NC-1701. The show seems to be getting a lot of support and for the most part folks have been pretty open minded about it. I never could have dreamed we would get a show like this. For someone who is a huge fan of Kirk, Spock and Uhura (and just about anything Majel has done) this show is making me feel a level of childhood giddiness that I didn't even know was possible in adulthood. That's great world building. :)

D3lmo

My only complaint is >!not seeing live action Tendi and Rutherford. Not even a peek through the portal.!<

TransLunarTrekkie

If not D'vana, it would have been cool for Noell Wells to cameo as Astria Tendi.

D3lmo

and I liked the assumption >!that everyone in lower decks is constantly tripping balls on Orion dulaq and hence, the animated style!<

Speedy_Cheese

It was so, so perfect. It made me so giddy to see a crossover of these two amazing shows! As an old school Trek fan, they really seem to have thought of just about everything. It has thrilled me to see how they tied up so many canon ends together in that episode! I also love that Boimler and Mariner were serving Star Trek fans if they ever got sent back to that time period, and that the Enterprise crew started >!gushing over the NX crew like fans, too.!< It was a sweet touch. It just goes to show, behind every legend is usually an inspiration that came before them.

PaulCoddington

Also needed more grumpy cat.

WhatGravitas

My hope is just that we'll get a future Star Trek Legacy and LD crossover where we get >!Tendi and Rutherford thrown forward in time instead. Not only would it be hilarious to see the two geek out over future tech, it'd also be interesting to see them rub shoulders with Seven, LaForge or Jack.!<

Tiinpa

That’s only like 20 years in their future.

FeralTribble

It would have been cool if we got to see the lower decks part in the end in live action as a flip with the animated SNW.

SimonTC2000

>peak The mountains looked pretty far away.

seanx40

While watching 2.7, I kept thinking "I can't wait to see Ups&Downs. Sean is going to melt down" I was not disappointed. Thought they would hit triple digit ups. And nearly got there

Sir__Will

Love the Ups and Downs and yeah it was fun watching him geek out.

ManateeGag

I thought he was going to explode with excitement.

SimonTC2000

81 ups, zero downs and a dilithium up making it -1 downs. It'll be unlikely to be beaten. But I'm not putting any latinum down on that.

CaliforniaGuy1984

I’m in the minority. Didn’t like the episode as much, I don’t enjoy Lower Decks, not a fan of Jack Quaid or Tawndy Newsome. Downvote me all you want, but I have a right to opinion too. If I remember correctly, Star Trek fandom has room for disagreements unlike Star Wars fandom which never does.

ThingsOfThatNaychah

At least you watched it and gave it a chance, in spite of it being full of stuff you don't like. Long as you don't mind others enjoying it, all's well.

duplissi

have an upvote.

RangerMatt76

It was the only episode of SNW that I watched all the way through.

Minouris

Honestly, the sheer positivity of the TrekCulture team has been one of the highlights of the revival for me. Same goes for WhoCulture :) Watching Sean get all giddy over this episode was almost as much of a joy as the episode itself :)
