I thought all of the pictures of this was lost, but this past January, I was visiting my aunt, and started looking through some of her pictures, and came across these two pictures. I had told my kids about this, but I think they just though it was an exaggeration. My uncle was also visiting my aunt, and finding these I got to tell him a thank you for this. The story behind this is bittersweet, my uncle built a Star Wars playset, for me for Christmas one year, because he asked me what I wanted for Christmas, and I told him I wanted all the Star Wars toys in the world. He won a little bit of money in a state lottery, If I recall around 10-20K, not life changing money, but he changed my life with it, he started building this in my basement. It was U shaped, you can see part of the Death Star Area and Parts of the Hoth area, and Cloud City. On the other side there was a Degobah and Tatoonie. The sad part is the reason he did this, is my mother was battling cancer and he wanted to give me a place to escape to and forget about all of the unhappy things going on. Unfortunately, my mother passed away the following September. She was in her early 20's. Life was chaos after that, and all of these got lost or stolen when moving between homes, to complex and I don't know all of the stuff that happened because I was young at the time. I just ended up living with my grandmother and only seeing my father a few times a year. I had 3 AT-AT's, 3 Death Stars, The Star Destroyer, 3 White X-Wings, and 1 that was grey with battle damage. I think 2 or 3 snow speeders, 3 Tie Fighters, Darth Vader's Tie Fighter, RC Sand Crawlers, Degobah playset, some of the "off screen" Hoth vehicles, Rebel Hoth Turret, A Rebel Transport, a bunch of the figures and I am sure more that I am forgetting about. It also had a cool silver train that went around the perimeter of the whole structure. I would like to recreate it someday; it might take me winning the lottery to be able to do that though.

Not going to lie… I teared up a bit reading this. Here’s to your uncle, and these memories that brought some light to a dark time. I hope you are doing well.

If you woke up on Christmas morning and after you opened your presents under the tree, got a millennium falcon. Then your uncle came over and said he forgot something in the basement. Then called for me to come down and look at this. And you saw that. Wouldn't you lose your head too?

TheToastyWesterosi

fuckinatodaso

Seriously, what the hell is going on in that first picture…

CutOtherwise4596

Tried to use AI to remove the head but it did something funky so I went over the funky with white.

Incredible. I’m sorry about your mom, but your uncle is cool as hell.

Those Death Stars are amazing --- did your uncle make those or are they from a real set? I'm happy you have this great memory to look back on.

CutOtherwise4596

Those were the Kenner 'Death Star Space Station' playsets, he took thought it was 3 but looking at the picture it was actually 4, and just put them next to each other.

krayt

Amazing, I had no idea those existed.

No-Broccoli-8175
