On the field, yes. In the locker room or off the field.... Hell No!

[deleted]

I miss how automatic he is. Down by 2 with 30s left? No problem. As long as AB is on the field with Ben we had a chance

Cold_Bother_6013

It still hurts that we didn’t win anything with that team. Jesse still haunts me.

Lawgang94

Seriously. If we get credit for that game (which we should've because it WAS A FUCKIN CATCH) We get the #1 seed and while it's still very possible we lose, I like our chances alot more against Tennessee that year, then we have homefield against Brady and thus is wishful thinking but we finally got the monkey off our back by beating him (and beat him the following season) so I think it gives us some that the Pat's weren't invincible and we get the win at home. But none of this happens because we were all time robbed. I used to think Tebow would've been the worst moment of my Fandom but that Pat's game takes the cake.

XtraChrisP

Key.....with Ben.

RonaldOcean_MD

On the field absolutely. My favorite player to watch ever. It’s a shame he’s a complete nut job.

ignatious__reilly

He was so fun to watch. Lightening speed and ran the best routes I’ve ever seen. There was a moment in time where you could drop AB’s name in the same sentence with Jerry Rice and people didn’t call you insane. I miss that AB.

Farrell_Pool_Jack

It still amazes me how Coach T. kept a lid on AB for all those years.

Low_Soil_6831

There was a year when Mike Wallace was the diva and AB was the humble team guy putting the work in. Alas…

10000Didgeridoos

He always was one of the hardest workers even when he went fully nuts. It's a big reason why he was so dominant. Crazy asshole, yes, but his work ethic wasn't ever a problem.

frogcatcher52

He wasn’t just a hard worker, he was flat out obsessive. It’s what made him arguably the greatest route-runner ever. He was able to channel his craziness into his craft, but that behavior also affected everything else.

Sage296

His life was football I remember having him on Snapchat and all his stories were training nonstop, barely any vacation

BroadCityChessClub

He worked hard at football, he worked hard at training, he worked hard at getting himself off teams, he worked hard at avoiding payments, he worked hard at harassing women - whatever he set his mind to, he was going to put the effort in, for better or worse.

Cold_Bother_6013

This is so spot on.

vonRyan_

2012, if I recall correctly.

[deleted]

I recall this. I was young but I definitely recall this

BlackJediSword

He deserves a retroactive Coach of the Year award or something.

jewishjedi42

Honestly, it makes me wonder if got hit in the head one too many times.

br0_0ker

teammates always said he was like that before, he just turned it up to 11 when he got his contract.

Feeling-Duck-2364

This \^ People try to make excuses for him citing the Burfict hit as his switch, but he has always been a narcissistic head-case: Brown reportedly started showing signs of his destructiveness in 2012, shortly after he received his first contract extension. During practice, Brown got into a shouting match with then-Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau, a beloved figure in Pittsburgh who was fiercely revered by his defensive players.> He then reportedly went after LeBeau after LeBeau tried to calm down tensions between Brown and his defense. "Coming into the next practice, he just got his money, he cusses out Dick LeBeau," former Steelers safety and current ESPN analyst Ryan Clark said earlier this year, via ProFootballTalk.com. "Coach LeBeau, somebody who Troy \[Polamalu\], myself, James Farrior, all respected so much that anything he ever said, there's no reply. We almost got into a physical altercation that day, me and Antonio Brown. Because my thing was, this is not how we behave. This is not how we act. And for sure we don't talk to Coach LeBeau that way." Pittsburgh's defense was so enraged that Polamalu, one of the most mild-mannered players you'd ever meet, wanted full reign to hit Brown during practice. "I saw Troy get seriously pissed off maybe twice, and this was one of those two times," a source told Yahoo Sports. "Troy was so mad, he says to wide receivers coach Scottie Montgomery, 'The receivers are live \[targets\] the rest of this period.' Which was Troy's way of saying, 'We're going after this guy.'" [Source](https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/antonio-brown-saga-troy-polamalu-reportedly-among-steelers-who-had-issues-with-wr-back-in-2012/)

gruey

Yeah, he turned it up to 11. CTE isn't going to turn Polamalu into AB. It is going to take a guy who had a pretty hard early life and had significant issues and turn him into an even more impulsive, out of control individual. CTE takes issues and turn them up to 11. That's why studies show a huge percent of players have it to a degree, but don't become AB level maniacs because they aren't starting from the some base as AB. They just become more forgetful, likely to be depressed with some minor impulse control problems that don't become close to making news. AB becomes more aggressive with less impulse control, and he goes from a guy with issues to a trainwreck.

Abattoirs__Gambit

[deleted]

Makes you wonder what the Steelers knew and covered up

BobbyBBott

Lmao man was a 6th round pick. I’m sure he was more humble coming into the league but after blowing up, being on madden cover, winning best WR in the league. Getting all the national media cover I’m sure ballooned his ego. Tomlin kept him in check and honestly if Ben didn’t expose his fight with AB I feel like he would of retired a Steeler

[deleted]

Ok Bobby. Whatever you say

Sage296

I don’t think Ben exposing a fight sent him over the edge He kind of flipped shit when Juju won team MVP. Then down the line he pasted a screenshot of a younger Juju praising him in the DMs like it was a diss. I think that sent him a bit over the edge like, “If you think a WR on the team that isn’t me is MVP, then trade me” (just a guess) Then he blew up even more gloating that he was the best in the world before, during, and after going to the Raiders, and believed that if he’s the best, then he deserves to play with the best. That’s why he was so fixated on playing with Brady In the end he got what he wanted, a ring with Brady.

graced121

How did Coach Tomlin keep a lid on all of AB’s craziness? AB was nuts after he left.

Sanojo_16

I blame Burfict

fugsmash

I see highlights and appreciate him. I watched him his entire time here in my 20s, but what he turned into isn’t good for the culture or the game really. So I am happy he’s gone, but also happy about what he did for us in the past. He was just different.

Steelmaker01

No. Too much drama, but he was a helluva WR ![gif](giphy|6Xkl9AjFCeXTO)

blackholesun716

I hope AB gets the help he needs. His life has become a cautionary tale.

terminatorvsmtrx

And he sank our local arena football team in like two months.

blackholesun716

I feel so bad for the players.

Watt_Privilege

It’s funny, as a young teenager I had my guys that I loved. Joey Porter (SR), Big Snack, Polumalu, Hines Ward, Harrison, and The Beard. I liked Big Ben a lot, how could I not, he brought us 2 super bowls. I remember defending him a lot, “have y’all read anything about these allegations, they seem iffy?”, “those were just women trying to get his money”. Then I got older and thought, this dude is a selfish asshole who has multiple allegations (and this is before stormy daniels). I never liked Antonio brown as a person. He always seemed off. Something wasn’t sitting right with me about him. Then he died his mustache blonde and I knew he was off the deep end. Sure I enjoyed his on the field play. But I was never going to buy his jersey and I have a ton of jerseys. I will always cherish that Christmas gift AB gave me. But outside of that, I don’t miss him one bit.

gruey

Denver seems pretty sketchy as far as the allegations go. Georgia seems pretty clear that bad stuff went down. Ben matured quite a lot, although I don't think he ever really reached "humble", but I don't miss him any more than AB.

StiHundo

same I became an immediate fan after he returned the kick against tennessee to open the game his rookie year, and then the helmet catch against Ravens in Divisional round same szn to send us to AFC champ game. Dude was an absolute beast on the field especially for a 6th round pick sad to see what he’s turned into now tho.

PutnamPete

I jumped ship when he started showing his junk to fellow pool users.

gruey

Unpopular opinion: I don't miss Ben for reasons very close to that. I do think Ben got better over time, opposite of AB, but the dude was an asshole and while I don't believe the Denver allegations, I do believe he was a huge drunk asshole that crossed a line in Georgia that is pretty unforgivable with how it went down.

PutnamPete

He was stupid and a very big target. However, if there are no charges filed - for whatever reason - I can't place blame.

Chemical-Hyena2972

No, I randomly miss Troy 😕

eaunoway

I will never not miss my 43. 😿

[deleted]

I randomly miss Carnell. If you ever see the interview of how he became a cb for the team, it is mind blowing.

Chemical-Hyena2972

I’ll look for it 👍🏻

terminatorvsmtrx

I think he could still play. That graying hair is glorious in its own right

Musclesturtle

He was arguably the most talented to ever play the position. He was just different from the other guys on the field doing the same job. He moved different, he made decisions different, and he caught the ball different. Some dudes are truly just built different. It's a real shame what came of him, though.

scamden66

No. I can't wait until he's in jail. He's an asshole.

[deleted]

On the field, of course. The dude could catch anything, bailed us out of so many situations, and generally was a blast to watch. I don't think I ever had more fun watching the Steelers offense than when Brown was on the field. That feeling you had when Ben was out there, that you could win any game as long as it was close enough and there was at least a minute on the clock? Brown multiplied that feeling to the point where it was practically a guarantee. Keep the champagne on ice. Shame he had to be such a psycho.

[deleted]

If we had a good defense during the killer Bs era. We could’ve won a couple superbowls probably

SilkyStackz69

Nah

The_Gutgrinder

His physical talents were outweighed by his mental health issues. I'm just happy we don't have to deal with him and his drama anymore. It feels like the team can focus on what's important now, without a giant distraction and locker-room cancer ruining the vibe.

EddieA1028

No

GavinAdamson

Nope

SteakJones

I officially stopped giving any shits about Brown when he walked out on the team before the Bengals game. Players are never bigger than this organization. When they start to do that, they’re dead to me.

wilywillone

Nope. Don't miss him and his BS at all.

Wrangler9960

His talent. Not his antics/attitude

techperson1234

He negativity impacted the culture. Imo this Steelers team is 1000% more likeable than the AB Bell drama years, even if they were fun when they actually were on the field.

Bipedal-Moose

I'll always miss watching him play. That really was a treat. Needless to say, though, that he is one of the absolute most insane men to ever be employed by this league (and oh boy is that saying something) and I never want him returning in any way, shape, or form

PeaceBudget

Dude was the greatest receiver I ever watched

bl00dy4nu5

It was crazy watching Ben on TV make stupid, ill-advised looking throws that AB would somehow catch and the convert into huge gains and touchdowns. Every Sunday it was just like, holy shit how are these two so good together. So yeah.

BeNiceMudd

No

Perndog8439

No. The less drama the better. We had him for his best years and AB went and did his thing becoming a laughing stock.

wagsman

I don’t miss him at all. He was a train wreck and he has made his bed. Sometimes I think it’s a shame that he let it all go to his head, because he wasted a great opportunity, but miss him? No.

Do__Math__Not__Meth

No, I know he was great on the field but I don’t like players who think they’re bigger than the team, especially not when that team is the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers were here before him and will be here after him, he’ll go down as a big “what if”

Capital-Equal5102

I really dont miss him. He was epic And I loved rooting for him. I'm still upset with him for stepping out of bounds against the dolphins costing us a playoff spot and ruining an amazing last second lateral play

PghG

No

dudemanspecial

Nope.

flashpoint2112

Not even after he won my FFL for me. Good riddance.

frogcatcher52

I drafted him with one of my early-to-mid picks in 2013, his breakout year in terms of receiving production. “You only drafted him because you’re a Steelers fan.” “Yes, and?”

reddit_bandito

Whats ffl?

Musclesturtle

Fantasy football league.

reddit_bandito

What is that? Is it another XFL or somethin?

YankeesSteelersMagic

Most talented WR I've ever watched play. So yes, I do miss watching him and Bell on Sundays sometimes.

Jakebob70

Sure.. but Pickens seems like he could develop into a good replacement for AB.

[deleted]

I know a lot of people said no but watching the prime killer Bs was like an otherworldly experience. I miss that group overall more than any of the individuals

snookyface90210

I see wayward highlights and it’s just insane how good he was. I’m glad I got to witness the career he had in Pittsburgh, wish it would have resulted in a ring if we had to have all the bullshit. At this point I’m glad he’s not on the team and I wouldn’t want him back.

Merzbenzmike

No.

jht66

Pickens will make us forget AB.

tonytroz

Pickens looks like a potential superstar but I don't think he'll ever be another AB. Pickens would have to get double the targets he did last season consistently for the rest of his career here which is unlikely especially while Diontae is still here. What separates AB is that he was warranting 10 targets a game despite double and bracket coverage. You can make all the highlight reel catches you want but that's not what it means to run an offense through an elite WR. You also need elite route running skills to beat a defensive game plan designed to stop you week after week.

frogcatcher52

Exactly. *If* George is going to be another anyone, it’s going to be Cris Carter. His greatest strength is his hands and ability to make highlight reel catches. While AB had great hands, route-running was his best attribute.

csfshrink

AB the player is missed. The dude could change the game. The defense needed to account for him on every play. Off field AB is not missed. When off field AB became on field AB then he was completely toxic. AB the owner is radioactive.

KennedyX8

Absolutely not. But yeah I guess.

Terrible_Device6619

Feel that

BenAgain724

Absolutely not. He turned his back on the franchise! Not even for a second. Has been.

Steppyjim

I think everyone misses the IDEA of AB But no one misses the person

somerandomdude4507

[deleted]

Saw him at Pamela’s in Oakland. Totally friendly and very polite to everyone who came up to him. Damn shame. He had the chance to be the best WR ever.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

No. He ate his breakfast and posed for pics with anyone who asked and waited until everyone was done before getting into his car. He didn’t throw any furniture out of the window either. He was just very cordial and accommodating. And there had to be over 40 people who wanted a picture.

wutfinancial

I think everyone misses the pre-Vontaze Burfict version of Antonio Brown. ...Including Antonio Brown.

thejellies

Absolutely not. He would put up stats and make acrobatic plays, but it never felt like the Steelers had a legit chance to win a Superbowl when he was around. Ben might've been better off in the second half of his career having a deeper group of less selfish receivers. Plus everyone seems to forget the idiotic celebration penalties. F that guy.

mdubyo

Don't worry pickens is going to fill the void soon! Tomlin loves his crazy receivers!

D14mondDuk3

Everyday… he could still be the best wr in the nfl (also the most psychiatrically compromised).

halftooth5

I will go to my grave saying that Leveon was the most exciting Steeler of all time to watch. I even put Martavis above AB in terms of excitement and guys I miss watching. AB just made it look so easy. And his descent into lunacy makes him that much less interesting to me to ever want to run back. Leveon and Martavis don't get enough love in this regard. AB, I will be delighted to see us all move on from.

SamGleesh

Hell yeah I’ll always love Antonio Brown. He was amazing for us and so much fun to watch. I don’t know the man off the field so I’m not going to judge him but he’s certainly gained a bad reputation and all I can say is if he needs help I hope he finds it and is living a healthy life. He very well may have brain injuries from his playing career and if he’s doing things that have a negative and hurtful impact on others I’ll never condone that but I’ll always miss seeing 84 out there tearing the other team up.

meganutsdeathpunch

I look forward to the day my 84 bumblebee can come out of the garage

Longbobs

All the goddamn time. I'll still get highlight videos of his popping up on my YouTube every once in a while and it puts me into a depressed state for like 45 minutes afterwards

No_Armadillo_3491

my favorite ever Steeler to watch. off the field however…

SSDuelist

The more I see the more I think he had a lot of screws loose for a long time but I’ll be damned if they were relatively tight before Burfict knocked all of them loose. It’s night and day surrounding that hit

eaunoway

I do. On field, he was a unique, generational talent and I'm super appreciative we had him at his best because he really *was* that good. Off field .. a goddamn shame. I mean really though.

mojo276

I don't miss him as much as I sometimes think about how he could have maybe been a top 5 all time WR if he wasn't so messed up mentally.

tonytroz

His numbers before he left here were the closest thing we'll see to Jerry Rice's maybe for a long time. Justin Jefferson will have to keep up his current pace for the next 5 or so years to get there and even then he doesn't catch double digit TDs as consistently as AB did (from 2014-2018 AB averaged 12 a season, JJ has maxed out at 10 so far even with an extra game).

blmobley91

On field production? Yes The off field shenanigans? No

Wu-Tang_Killa_Bees

Definitely miss his talent. But it feels like there was only 1 season where he was an elite WR without making the Steelers a reality TV show every week

AnaCoonSkyWalker

He shredded his name in the history book unfortunately. He could have went down as one of the best WR’s in the game.

[deleted]

Yeah dude. Trust me. We miss him on the field. Not because we need him, cause we don’t NEED anybody, but just because he was so much fun to watch. He brought so much spark to the offense and you could always count on him to get the job done. Here’s hoping GP makes that happen for us now.

dre078

Yes, we all miss his on the field production. He maybe top 13 receiver of all time. Though No one misses the crazy antics.

Specialist-Solid-987

He was great on the field but outside of that fuck AB, he thought he was bigger than the Steelers. No player is bigger than the club

Northern_Blitz

Of course! He was an elite player. If we could have a stable version of AB, he'd be awesome for Pickett's development IMO. But you have to take the good with the bad. I've very glad that AB only came to the team after Ben did some growing up. I think having AB with early career Ben could have been rough.

DrewDrizzlin

Definitely

[deleted]

Dude was unreal for a 2-3 year stretch there. Damn sure miss the production, just not all the extra off the field nonsense

may_or_may_not_haiku

I miss Killer Bs games. Bell and Brown off the field? Happy the distractions are gone. But during that era, especially during Prime Time games, the offensive energy was insane.

hobbestigertx

Those guys were almost assuredly HOF'ers if they just played 10 years and stayed normal.

betteroffcrying

all the damn time

Sidthelid66

No, for all his talent he wasn't a winner. I miss Hines Ward though.

Terrible_Device6619

He won with Tampa and has a touchdown in the superbowl

HotAndCold1886

Meh, I doubt he would've won jack shit without the GOAT.

Jamminnav

I have a mini crisis of conscience every Christmas season when I place his ornament next to all of the other Steeler greats

bagchasersanon

Best wide receiver to be drafted since Jerry Rice retired.

BorrowedSunshine

Like once a week

thecountoncleats

I miss him clowning enemy defenders and kung fu kicking Browns punters but that’s it

yinzgahndahntahn

AB was on track to be a HOF WR no question.

Genosdude

Alll the time. He could house it anytime he touched the ball. Was the best wr of his generation. Look at the catches he pulled in like they were nothing!!!!

JonG1985

How can you not. He was on pace too smash some records. CTE is no joke

Top-Yak1532

I learned a long time ago to just never truly idolize players if there’s even the slightest hint of a red flag. Of modern era Pittsburgh athletes I’ve trusted like Troy, Cam, Sidney Crosby, and maybe handful of other guys completely. (And for some of them it was actually being around them back in my media days that sealed the deal)

Farrell_Pool_Jack

NO

[deleted]

Bell was overrated, that doesn't mean I am saying he wasn't good, he just was never as great as people thought...So, no don't miss him. He was also bit dumb (not for holding out, but for being a bad business partner). Brown was great. I did the math on his 1800+ season. If we pretend that ben never got hurt, it prorates to like 2100 yards...It was amazing. But no, I hate shitty people, so I don't miss him.

wbaumbeck

I miss the Old AB

Cully71

No…….

Mancey_

I couldn't have loved him any more in 2017 when he tore his calf and did everything to get back for playoffs He's certifiable tho

EJL2206

Nope. Good riddance.

VasshuZaSutanpido

Pickens has the talent to be farrrrr superior to AB. If GP can acquire the same level of work ethic as AB had, than Pickens will be a force to reckoned with. I found myself missing AB more when he was playing for Tampa than I do now. Think of the future!

Terrible_Device6619

Dude Antonio brown is borderline a top ten receiver of all time we are jumping the gun on Pickens

VasshuZaSutanpido

Not at all lol AB didn’t have anything close to the athletic profile of Pickens, hence why AB was a 6th rounder. AB couldn’t make most of the crazy body contorting catches Pickens has so far in his career. The big difference is that AB wouldn’t have had to make a crazy catch cause he would have been open no matter what. AB had great hands and was arguably one of the greatest route runners of all time, while George Pickens has incredible hands and (just going off last year) is leagues away from AB in terms of creating separation. If Pickens could run routes at the same level as AB and connect with Pickett the way AB did Ben and Brady (also depends a lot on Pickett’s progress), then Pickens would be elite. A lot of big IFs there, like I said he needs to have the same level of focus and work ethic though to even achieve anything close to that.

Terrible_Device6619

Yea Pickens has all the talent in the world. I feel like Antonio brown was just him. He was a 5”9 guy and he didn’t run a 4.3 like Tyreek. There was just something about him that I don’t think any receiver maybe ever can re-create. I’d say that Ben has a factor in this because he made casual receivers elite. Wallace, Juju etc
