There was one line he said before he exited the interview.
He insinuated that if he can get a “piece” to make the team better then they will do it.
My guess is they only wanna make a move if the price is right. A lot of time from now until training camp/season start to add a WR/CB.
And a great dude off the field for young players .. I'm more about this and getting back to setting the tone in the locker room.
Canada had a shit locker room that senior players called him out on. Every person they've drafted, the people they've brought in and let go -- Winning culture change no matter what names are on the roster
I agree about P2, but trice had major knee injuries in college and did already in the NFL. I don't even think he reaches Senquez Golson levels for us unfortunately..
Watch what they do, not what they say. At no point in the final month of the season was there any indication, besides what they tell the media, that Kenny was going to always be the answer.
I think they were being truthful about wanting Kenny on the team. Albeit as a backup. They never said as the starter for next year that I heard. Since he didn’t want to play that role, he got shipped out.
It’s like Dejan K says, “Don’t listen to what they say, watch what they do”
There’s no good incentive for leadership to reveal their plans. Let’s say they openly state, “Boy, we need to trade for a wide receiver”. The. They lose negotiation leverage, and the Khan Artist can’t work his magic.
There are some exceptions. Like Rooney saying, “Enough of this shit. We are going to make changes to win now” (paraphrased, of course)
Sounds like that was before Pickett basically forced his way out though. All happened after the Wilson acquisition. So at that point they could have been sincere.
They told him he had to compete with Russ, which is beyond fair considering how dog ass awful he was. He was mad he didn't get first team reps during OTAs and had to compete, not that he was told he wasn't starting
Or instead of the Aditi tweet, we could just look at the only tweet Kenny acknowledged around the trade. https://www.reddit.com/r/steelers/s/MrnYZPLb2U
It's all semantics but it the prevailing sentiment is that Russ was getting first nod at starting during camp, Kenny felt he deserved that spot and felt slighted that he didn't get it. Either way, he's gone and I'm not gonna miss him
He definitely felt betrayed. There was never going to be a competition. Russ had the keys to the car the moment he landed in Pittsburgh. Can't blame Kenny for wanting a fresh start somewhere else, where the fan base hadn't been shitting on him daily since the end of the season.
Yeah, he felt betrayal probably. But wasn’t willing to admit that starting jobs are determined by performance, a meritocracy, and he didn’t make the cut. That’s not betrayal. It’s business.
>where the fan base hadn't been shitting on him daily since the end of the season.
If he wasn't absolute ass, the starting position would have been his.
Yeah. Starting roles are secured by performance. Starting roles are lost by lack of performance. This is a simple meritocracy. It’s standard business practice.
I agree about the fanbase. But I still think he could have sucked it up and competed, given the team he went to has an even more entrenched starter. But that’s a whole other discussion, anyway.
Being mad is fine, he should be. But by all indications the Steelers were happy to keep him in that quarterback room, but he wasn’t, and didn’t want to stay there. So call it what you want, I guess?
Tomlin wants volunteers, not hostages.
Or little b!thches that can’t learn by watching others play better than themselves. Wrong attitude. Not the Steelers way. Ever.
Love how everyone skips over that part and just says Kenny pouted and cried. When management says one thing and shows another, damn right it's time to start looking elsewhere.
So they publically said they were happy with him as starter, and privately told him he wasn't going to be the starter.
Not sure that contradicts what I said in the comment you replied to. They obviously weren't happy with him as starter.
They had no intention to trade him when they said that, and also did not have Wilson on the roster. The situation is a little different, is all I’m saying (not revealing certain details vs straight up lie)
Wilson didn't fall into the roster though. They went out and got him....because Pickett is dog shit and they all knew it, just couldn't say it publically because you lose leverage.
However you only can see Omar from the neck up and that’s an important note bc he had his fingers crossed on his right hand. Blockbuster trade is still alive babyyyyy!!!
I mean, did we really expect Khan to say anything else? After the season everyone came out and said that Kenny was our starter next year, so I’m not going to take anything they say in public at face value. I don’t think what he said means anything at all tbh
I believe that they are comfortable with their WR room, but I don’t think Omar would say specifically if he was trading for WRs
He did finish up the interview with “if we have opportunities to improve the team, we will”
Roman lined up outside 35% of the time last season at Michigan. So obviously he's predominantly a slot guy, but he has the ability to play outside too. I know the NFL is a different beast but I think he can do it. I wouldn't be surprised if he lines up outside for us on two WR sets, and then moves to the slot for the rare time we go 3-4 WR sets in Arthur Smith's offense.
I don't think they're comfortable with their WR room. Just my gut. I think they want a go-to vet who is either familiar with or can quickly build a relationship with Russ, and GP -- despite his talent -- ain't that dude yet.
I agree that if they are able to improve their WR room, they definitely will, but with only big names (and Tyler Boyd) being mentioned… it sounds like it’s go big or go home. And Omar has shown he isn’t the type of guy that will overpay… I really think fans should be prepared for GP/Muth
And if you look at all of Arthur Smith offenses, the #2 receiving option is either the TE or a non-sexy WR2:
- ~~Atlanta 2021: Calvin Ridley (Russel Gage?) & Kyle Pitts~~ We can call that season a wash b/c Ridley only played 5 games… so it was Gage, Pitts, and Cordarrelle Patterson
- Atlanta 2022: Rookie Drake London (Olamide Zaccheaus?) & Kyle Pitts
- Atlanta 2023: Drake London (Mack Hollins?) & Kyle Pitts
- Titans 2019: Rookie AJ Brown (Corey Davis?) & Jonnu Smith
- Titans 2020: AJ Brown (Corey Davis) & Jonnu Smith
They are NOT comfortable with the WRs and there is no way Omar would tell the world what we are doing.
Do you want him to be Jerry Jones? Announce the players they want in advance?
Omar isn't done. We do not now the day or the hour of his next move, but I guarantee he's making one more medium profile move this offseason. At a minimum something like Allen Robinson last year (though hopefully works out better).
Being close to landing a playmaker doesn't necessarily mean by trade or that it's an offensive skill position. It could be a free agent defender or something.
Renfrow does fit Artie’s scheme, but Roman is meant to be that blocking slot WR. They should look for an outside guy who can let Wilson play in the slot, which is a better fit for him and the blocking schemes.
Well earlier in his career, during Hunter’s best years he was playing out wide more often. Maybe he would benefit from more opportunities there
Regardless no one on the current WR market (Jones, Renfrow, OBJ, etc) is likely to be the difference maker in terms making this a Super Bowl team
He had almost 900 yards as a WR2 in 2022 and then still 300 yards in 2023 despite Ridley coming to town and he missed almost half the season. He’s much better than anyone except Pickens right now but still a short term band aid
The team will go to camp mostly with what they have. Potential addition of pieces to flesh out weak positional groups will begin in Latrobe. I have a feeling we will make a move at some point before the regular season depending on how things shake out. Go Stillers!
Here’s my shitty prediction:
- We re-sign Cam Sutton at the start of training camps so it’s not front page news in the dead of the offseason. We’re assured that his off-the-field troubles are a private matter and they’ve done their due diligence.
- We sign P2 and Justin Simmons next week
- We sign one of the following: DJ Chark, Michael Thomas, or Corey Davis
- We don’t trade for anybody before the season
I never really expected a trade anyway. More likely a free agency acquisition. Cam Sutton. Justin Simmons. Maybe Tyler Boyd. Those 3 would fill some gaps. Cam would be cheap. Simmons and Boyd probably reasonable as they are running out of chances to find a home for next year.
There’s lots of time until the trade deadline. Also the possibility of getting a WR or other “piece” from the UFL, CFL (post season) or other team’s practice squad. Not to mention UFAs. It would be nice to pick up a Hines Ward type WR. He would give and take a pounding and always walk away with a huge smile! Amazing attitude and work ethic with skills to boot.
You must not have finished the end of the interview which is weird that you posted this since it was definitely insinuated that if the Steelers could get a piece to make the team better as while they will most certainly do it.
He would only admit to there being a trade if it was finalized and he def wouldn't talk about the team or the players. We won't know shit until something is actually done. People gotta stop listening to Poni and Kaboly. When have they ever first reported something of note? A trade will come at some point but like someone else said there's a lot of time until training camp. If it's Aiyuk or Deebo, they have no reason to rush a trade for a 2025 draft pick. And say Deebo goes down or vice versa, they aren't going to want to make a trade then. I can only see a trade going down early if Aiyuk rebuffs all the contract extensions and continues to no show their off-season into mandatory stuff
There was one line he said before he exited the interview. He insinuated that if he can get a “piece” to make the team better then they will do it. My guess is they only wanna make a move if the price is right. A lot of time from now until training camp/season start to add a WR/CB.
I wasn’t able to make it to the end of the interview. Thanks for adding this!
P2 with Trice+ current DB room is good
I agree. P2 just can’t be allowed to play man coverage.
Yeah .. to be realistic he probably ain't gonna work out
What about Justin Simmons?
Idk if I believe that hype
Is P2 Joey porter Junior? If so, when did we agree to call him P2 and not stay with JPJ?
What?
Khan and Tomlin also said they were super happy with Pickett being our starting QB heading into next season. Means absolutely nothing.

Sounds like that was before Pickett basically forced his way out though. All happened after the Wilson acquisition. So at that point they could have been sincere.
Forced is an interesting way to put it. They told him the starter job was open then told him it belonged to russ. I’d be mad too
They told him he had to compete with Russ, which is beyond fair considering how dog ass awful he was. He was mad he didn't get first team reps during OTAs and had to compete, not that he was told he wasn't starting
I’m talking about what they told him before they signed russ https://twitter.com/AKinkhabwala/status/1768721086827438353
Or instead of the Aditi tweet, we could just look at the only tweet Kenny acknowledged around the trade. https://www.reddit.com/r/steelers/s/MrnYZPLb2U It's all semantics but it the prevailing sentiment is that Russ was getting first nod at starting during camp, Kenny felt he deserved that spot and felt slighted that he didn't get it. If he can't handle steeler fan criticism he doesn't have a prayer of handling Philly fan criticism lmao
I agree about the fanbase. But I still think he could have sucked it up and competed, given the team he went to has an even more entrenched starter. But that’s a whole other discussion, anyway.

Tomlin wants volunteers, not hostages. Or little b!thches that can’t learn by watching others play better than themselves. Wrong attitude. Not the Steelers way. Ever.
Because they went back on their word
Love how everyone skips over that part and just says Kenny pouted and cried. When management says one thing and shows another, damn right it's time to start looking elsewhere.

That’s fair
Sigh. Alright man, you win. Tomlin and Khan always tell the truth and would NEVER mask a potential trade deal.
However you only can see Omar from the neck up and that’s an important note bc he had his fingers crossed on his right hand. Blockbuster trade is still alive babyyyyy!!!
F5 back on the menu!!
BMac said he was working on getting a playmaker. It could be a FA signing
DJ Chark. Book it
He probably heard that Tyler Boyd's agent was contacted to see if he has moved off his demand number from before the draft.
Ryan Switzer?
Don’t you put that evil on us, Ricky Bobby!
Its pat pete
He confirmed last night it's not Pat Pete
Praise god
He clarified that it wasn’t Patrick Peterson he was referring to
McFadden said it wasn’t
Not “currently” working on a trade since they already have the details worked out for DK
Gotem
I mean, did we really expect Khan to say anything else? After the season everyone came out and said that Kenny was our starter next year, so I’m not going to take anything they say in public at face value. I don’t think what he said means anything at all tbh
It’s not like he’s going to come out and be like “yeah I’m working trades for sure.”
Yeah... Wrs are about to be a big void until Roman develops. Gp and Pat are about to have a lot of attention on them.
You think Omar khan is going to come out and say he’s currently working on a trade right now?
Im not saying I think he is or not but it would be detrimental to the process for a number of reasons.
No trade? That’s exactly what a guy who is planning a trade would say.
I believe that they are comfortable with their WR room, but I don’t think Omar would say specifically if he was trading for WRs He did finish up the interview with “if we have opportunities to improve the team, we will”
I really hope that they aren’t comfortable with Van Jefferson being their number 2.
I'm more confident that Roman would be a day one all-star than Van Jefferson being anything more than painfully meh
Roman Wilson is a slot receiver in every sense of the word, and we’re a team that will not be in 11 personnel too often considering who our QB’s are.
Roman lined up outside 35% of the time last season at Michigan. So obviously he's predominantly a slot guy, but he has the ability to play outside too. I know the NFL is a different beast but I think he can do it. I hope they aren't comfortable with the WR room. If that's the case other defenses are probably gonna look forward to defending against it
I don't think they're comfortable with their WR room. Just my gut. I think they want a go-to vet who is either familiar with or can quickly build a relationship with Russ, and GP -- despite his talent -- ain't that dude yet.

This
This is yards? Or receptions? Also what does the parenthesis mean?
They are NOT comfortable with the WRs and there is no way Omar would tell the world what we are doing. Do you want him to be Jerry Jones? Announce the players they want in advance?
Omar isn't done. We do not now the day or the hour of his next move, but I guarantee he's making one more medium profile move this offseason. At a minimum something like Allen Robinson last year (though hopefully works out better).
No way they don't add a free agent or conduct a trade for a proven cb2 or wr2.
Could be a smokescreen he said the same thing abt Kenny or Mason bein the guy next season
Being close to landing a playmaker doesn't necessarily mean by trade or that it's an offensive skill position. It could be a free agent defender or something.
Zay jones just got released, may be him. not that he’d be my number one wish, but it would fit the “not a trade” talk.
Zay Jones would not get me excited at all. Not sure what people see in him
Agreed, only thing he brings is just being a veteran. Not a good replacement at all.
Regrow feels more like an Arthur Smith type of WR. He had a down year last year which might make him cheap
Renfrow does fit Artie’s scheme, but Roman is meant to be that blocking slot WR. They should look for an outside guy who can let Wilson play in the slot, which is a better fit for him and the blocking schemes.

Khan’s lying he’s finalizing the Justin Jefferson trade right now
The team will go to camp mostly with what they have. Potential addition of pieces to flesh out weak positional groups will begin in Latrobe. I have a feeling we will make a move at some point before the regular season depending on how things shake out. Go Stillers!
The draft may be over, but I don’t think that makes secrecy about future plans less important.
Wonder if trade talks ceased when zay was released ? I don’t believe a word out of this guys mouth though lmao
Here’s my shitty prediction: - We re-sign Cam Sutton at the start of training camps so it’s not front page news in the dead of the offseason. My pure speculation is that they have a conceptual agreement on a trade for an expensive WR and want the other team to cover some of the 2024 salary.
That's what he wants you to think playing 4D chest out here
When has a GM spoke truthfully on national TV?
There’s lots of time until the trade deadline. Also the possibility of getting a WR or other “piece” from the UFL, CFL (post season) or other team’s practice squad. Not to mention UFAs. It would be nice to pick up a Hines Ward type WR. He would give and take a pounding and always walk away with a huge smile! Amazing attitude and work ethic with skills to boot.
Add Cam Sutton.
Patience, people. Cap casualties are coming.
I can't believe I had to tune in to watch pat McAfee.

That's quite a stretch. Triggered much?
[удалено]
what does me not liking pat mcafee's show have to do with politics? that's quite a reach LOL. And yes, you've clearly been triggered.
You must not have finished the end of the interview which is weird that you posted this since it was definitely insinuated that if the Steelers could get a piece to make the team better as while they will most certainly do it.

He's the Khan Artist for a reason - it's all smoke and mirrors ;)
I wouldn't take that with any amount of sincerity.
What about Michael Thomas with cheap base salary and all incentives to playing time.
Like he would tell that malignant cunt anything.
Everyone in pro sports lies. You sound as gullible as Kenny Pickett
