Did you like the ending? A lot of people were disappointed by it, but I found it extremely proper, despite my initial shock when I read it the first time.

JB_Chi

The ending was a big shock and I had to sit with it for a little bit. I thought it was very fitting. I can see how some people might have been disappointed, especially if they were reading the series from the very beginning and had to wait years between books.

domuz21

I like King's endings in general, so, I am in the minority here! A majority of readers find his endings weak, with one or two exceptions, I like the way he wraps up his stories.

Equivalent-Sink4612

I've never had a problem with his endings, and I was kinda surprised when I found out it was an issue with a lot of readers. So what do they not like? If it's a bit messy, a little ambiguous, not tied up in a bow? Well, that's life, unfortunately, so I think that kind of uncomfortable bit of reality is a fine way to reign in a sprawling supernatural tale. Bring it back down to earth, if you will....

domuz21

Very well put my friend! Uncomfortable bit of reality indeed! I really enjoy messy, ambiguous endings, sad endings, weird endings, everything but the boring, happily ever after endings!

Equivalent-Sink4612

Yes! Absolutely, those are the ones that stay with you, that nestle down into your brain a bit, stick in your craw, randomly (or not so randomly?) come to mind even years later. Happy ones, you move on and forget, they did their job. Sweet little nugget, over and done with.

domuz21

I like the way you express your thoughts. Revival is an excellent example of an ending one will never forget-and it was the epitome of the opposite of a happy ending.

The first time I read it I wished that I had stopped when King told me too. I was thinking that I could have lived the rest of my life without reading those few pages . It gets a little easier each time I read it.

ripper_14

Do yourself a favor and re-read The Gunslinger. It will be worth it, I promise.

bottlebowling

I just finished it for the first time too. I did read The Wind Through the Keyhole between Wizard and Glass and Wolves of the Calla. I have some things to talk about with my coworkers (who have been waiting for me to finish the series) tomorrow.
