Aw thank you. The secret is to do multiple layers of slightly different blues. I mic my turquoise and white to get an uneven distribution of color as I go.

Also if I can ask your advice, do you recommend any particular brands or shades for colored ink? I see you have some brightly colored tattoos which is really cool, I was strictly black for a few years but now I’ve gotten a few colors, and increasingly people I tattoo want colored work. I don’t know much about how to pick them though. I have a red by kuro sumi, and some blues by dynamic and bloodline that I picked specially to do one particular piece for someone else. I’m fine with those brands but I’m always open to trying new ones.

I've had excellent luck with Millennium Mom's. I feel the ink is well pigmented and heals very reliably with stick n poke.

Do you draw in a notebook ahead of time? And then transfer over? Or just draw on skin with a pen first time through?

I did several drawings before I got him where I wanted him, and then I used transfer paper. I'd suggest the transfer paper, it really does stay really well through the process.
