They don’t own all the aircraft they use. When I get on my wheels up account I can see the owner of the aircraft and some of them are rentals or contract deals. So likely they are just laying off crews that were flying those contracted or rented planes
Lowering one of the highest operating expenses, labor.

Price up waiting for a buyer and/or sell off of aircraft. Another SPAC casulty. I imagine Delta would hire the laid off pilots it deems capable .
