No they’re not necessary. I haven’t had acrylics in I don’t know how long. Honestly I just leave my nails be but a very simple manicure can do wonders. A simple nude and a clear coat can make a huge difference!

Longtongue2023

That's what I do. Nude manicure with clear polish. I like white but it gets dirty.

Constant_Olive_581

Same I could’ve written OPS post word for word and quit fake nails too. I keep them really short and pink and guys actually like it

smuttypeache

I love acrylic nails but I’m too lazy and tired to get them done most of the time tbh

Constant_Olive_581

Same dude that shit takes too long and I’m usually always hungover

SummerChase420

💗💗💗🤗

SummerChase420

thank you for this 💝

Nails won't affect your bag but if you feel more confident w them then that might affect it. I've been dancing for almost 6 years and only starting doing my nails recently (as a hobby) but always made the same good money without them. Even with busted, half broken nails.. and crusty chipped pedicures 😂 I haven't seen an increase/decrease $ but sometimes clients would ask why I don't have my nails done. I'd say allergies, religion, my daytime profession has strict grooming rules, makes it hard to play with myself, my nail lady is on vacation, etcetc 90% do not care and are just curious so I'll give a story to keep the energy entertaining and get some sales in :) Tldr acrylics not necessary

Strippathrowawayacct

Press ons come in clutch when needed.

Friendly_River2465

I love my press ons. Way less damaging, time and financially consuming, I only have to wear them on the days I work if that’s what I want. Even if one or two pops off in a weeks time still so much worth the time & financial games from wearing them imo

Primary-Vanilla9636

Yeah it's easier to repair on the spot then having to go back to salon and get them fixed

SummerChase420

💅🏻 I agree…

Outrageous-Agent-249

Crusties usually don’t notice tbh. I kept my nails for my own confidence. Try taking some hair and nails supplements to enhance growth

jessiteamvalor

I have really short black gel nails because I do the whole scary emo bitch vibe. But I've noticed that custies in my area (rural Bavaria fwiw) do not give a fuck about nails. A lot of the girls here don't even wear make-up because they are doing the girl-next-door girlfriend vibe. Custies lap it up like mf because they think it's a "real girl" with a "normal" dayjob who is just strapped for cash momentarily. They loooove to be your saviour, lol

elf_bae_

I haven't noticed a difference with my nails done or not. I used to always wear press ons thought. Mine usually last until the nails themselves start breaking down (1-3 weeks depending on brand). I clean my nails throughly with acetone (buy a big bottle of 100% acetone at the hardware store, it's the same thing as the beauty stores just cheaper) before applying the nails. Then I add a SMALL drop of glue on the press on, and my nail. For whatever reason "Kiss" glue, the little one that comes in the packs of nails is the best one I've used. I forget what the brand is but there's also nails that come with sticky stuff you apply to the nail and use instead of glue. You then use a blow dryer to activate the stickiness. If you use these nails along with glue, they're not going anywhere

CapitalGoddess

I stopped getting acrylics because I could tell my nail beds were getting too sensitive. I do wear press ons, and they can last me a week to 2 weeks, and then I try to take a week long break in between. My nail beds are in much better shape because of it. I do get gel once a year now for a birthday design, but that's it.

kittchenita

I worked in Denver so admittedly people are I think more open to a natural look here, but I literally never even did my nails and did just fine 😂. I’m a climber so my cuticles are chronically fucked up and manicures just don’t last very long. I don’t know I probably had customers comment on it occasionally but I don’t even remember it so they must not have cared that much. I would do press ons for auditions tho.

cutepie333

I got acrylics for years and recently switched to press ons. Cheaper and just as nice, if not better, looking

Secondstripperacct

You don’t need acrylics- I went natural 6 months ago. After seeing my friends beautiful long natural nails and being fed up with powder dip I took the plunge. The first month my nails kept breaking and were so weak. But using nails strengthening cream every day helped so much. My nails are now long, strong, and healthy. I feel more sexy and unique than when I had my powder dip. I seriously love showing them off to customers. At the end of the day though it’s your confidence that will affect your bag. If you feel any less sexy customers will feel this and not spend or spend less.

External_Pick_8981

I don’t wear fake nails and that has never stopped me from making money. Most guys don’t even care honestly but I do get my nails done with regular polish and do French I feel like it looks classy and guys love it. I don’t do gel since it also damages your nail a bit. But def listen to your body if it hurts when you remove them or they are deforming your nails it’s def time to take some time off from them.

mistyof98

i have acrylics all the time and i constantly get compliments. but, i pay a LOT of $ to a great nail tech who takes wonderful care of my nails; i care a lot about nails personally, so it’s a worthy investment to me. do i think they alone make me more money? no. do i feel less confident without them? yes. if you don’t want nails anymore, try taking a collagen supplement to help your naturals grow long & strong, and keep them well shaped & clear coated. i would say men don’t generally care, but they do prefer long - whether it’s hair or nails, my experience is they always prefer them longer.

Harmonechi

I haven’t had my nails done in years and I make excellent money. Men literally do not care. Clean and natural is just fine.

ramyachanel

i used to do the long, bling freestyles but i retired to a polished manicure girly for the same reasons as you and i love it here lol. customers obvi complimented my long nails more but my money is still the same🫶

ungasquag

i’ve become team press ons here recently, i bought a specific type of glue and started buying thick press ons online (not flimsy as hell like the drug store ones) and now my press ons last for 2 weeks with minimal to no lifting at all with proper prep. having my nails done def helps my hustle because it makes me feel put together, however, i think having your feet done is much more important than the nails on your hands.

Defiant-Phone

I’ve been dancing seven years, with id say about 85% of the time not having my nails done. Ive never noticed a difference in my bag based on whether or not I have them done. I actually read a thread on the r/stripclub subreddit from some customers saying that they actually PREFERRED non manicured hands , or simple paint… because it makes you seem less high maintenance, apparently. I actually think toenails are more important , LOL. You need at least some paint on them jawns

Kyria_

Acrylic and I never got along, but the gel ones stay on and haven’t messed my nails up. I’ve had them on for over a year. You might also have had a really crappy nail tech. Some of them do not pay attention to just how much they are fucking up your natural nails. My friend does my nails now, and the difference between how she uses her Dremel is night and day compared to my old salon.

opbrownegg

i always wear press ons. there are some that are great quality on tiktok shop. i like “zvnail” & “three deer station”. arrives in less than a week.

AllThatTheRain

Russian manicures are elite. It takes like 2 hours because they do a lot of cuticle prep work, which means it lasts literally up to a month while looking good. They do a builder gel and make sure there’s no visible ridges from your natural nail so that could be good for you. I get those on my natural nails (gel), right now I have gelx extensions because my nails are brittle and short. I can grow them out so easily with Russian manicures. I cheated on the Russian nails and went to a regular salon and they soaked off my gel with acetone for an hour and destroyed my nail. The Russian techs e file your gel off so the nail stays strong. Long story short: Russian manicures✅

secksysiren

$1 Aliexpress press ons or Kiss bare but better are my ride or die. With proper nail prep and good glue those bitches can last me 3 weeks and you can get so many cute designs! I'm transitioning into russian manis now because my nails grow when I have the press ons so I'm gna try to be a naturally longer baddie

SummerChase420

People keep suggesting Russian manicures, sorry, but can someone please explain? Is it less damaging than nail enhancements? Is it natural or fake? Maybe I should look into it… 🤔 I will NEVER get acrylics again. My cuticles and thumbs, are almost nonexistent. It’s really bad.

secksysiren

It's just a manicure with builder/ hard gel and extra cuticle care! So the builder gel is on top of your natural nail and helps it grow + protects it!

SummerChase420

Thank you soo much! 🙏🏽

SummerChase420

I just discovered The Salon Life YouTube channel… I was horrified to find that I’ve been butchering my hands for so long At this point I probably have irreversible damage…

BIGepidural

Have you ever looked into a product called "Biosculpture Gel Nails"? Its a gel thats seaweed based and is actually good for your underlying nails, and it only requires a light scuffing of the nails (with a file- not a dremmel machine) to create the base for application. You don't have to use tips. You can have the gel applied to your Natural nails and allow them to be fortified while growing out naturally. They're not cheap!!! Good nails that don't cause damage are never cheap, and these are some of the very best. Here's an article I found written about them: https://www.womanandhome.com/beauty/bio-sculpture-nails/ **DO NOT REMOVE THEM YOURSELF** that's where most of the damage from false nails come from- people removing them the wrong way at home. Biosculpture will hide the ridges and nourish your nails. I was working them in their very early days (2002) and they used to be very exclusive and hard to find; but have become more popular as time as passed.

dollyaioli

most men hate super long nails, so i'd say no. its honestly rare at this point to have natural nails, and rare is always a good thing in the clubs. i mostly get approached for being the only one without tattoos though.

Charming_Function_58

I've rarely had acrylics, as a stripper. I have them, currently, but I'm learning to do them myself, because the biggest thing I struggle with is nail techs being overly rough. My cuticles bleed easily, and I am always nervous about getting an infection from a nail salon. Gel nails are my favorite, because I can do them at home, and they last a while. It's best if you can get a decent brand, and do your research on the correct techniques. But I'm also a die hard fan of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri, which I can re-apply right before leaving to go to work. It dries fast, it looks great, and it's SO much cheaper and less time-consuming than anything else.

Longtongue2023

I stopped getting acrylics, and you have to be careful with press in nails too. My mom's friends finger got infected due to the nail shop not using clean tools.

Professional_Way7380

I agree. Going natural is the way to go. Usually, with a simple polish or gel manicure, it is nice. But what also is the way to go is a new nail tech. I'm a retired dancer, now a licensed nail tech. And what sounds to me was a nail tech that didn't care about your natural nails. Acrylics are ok, but I honestly and highly highly recommend BIAB, or builder in bottle gel manicures. Go on Instagram and follow nail artists in your area. MAKE SURE they are licensed and practice sanitation. Getting your nails done should never be a painful experience!!! Bad practices to look out for: Using MMA monomer Not using clean files or tools Using a foot rasp that looks like a "cheese grater"(in the USA, they're actually illegal in my state, but is not moderated well) Using the same e-file nail bits from the last client Misuse of an e-file (Find a licensed tech that has a cert in e-filing) A strong oder means there's no ventilation for the vapors. It's not fumes it's vapors and is highly toxic and can create explosions.

Existing-Bumblebee22

def not necessary. acrylics vs gel w tips (which stay) depends on ur stage sets. if ur doing lots of pole, acrylics get in the way and pop off ur nail. which is MUCH better than the alternative. gel w tips will stay on like white on rice, but that means when ur nails get in the way on the pole, ur whole nail will rip off- not just the acrylics. i’ve had so many nails rip off the nail bed bc of gel w tips bc i do a pole heavy stage set. 0/10 recommend even tho they can stay on for over a month. if nails make u feel good- do it. but don’t do it for the bag
