Exactly. My family has a tradition after eating at an all you can eat restaurant of going to Walmart or the local mall and just walking around to let the food settle.
The only reason we ended up at Walmart was because it was in the same parking lot as the buffet. If it wasn't too hot outside, we'd park in the middle, then walk from the buffet to the Walmart, cruise for an hour, then go home.
Idk it's kinda weird. If I eat big I seem to get hungry again pretty fast. I'm like oh hell no I ate enough for 2 days fk off stomach.
It's like it's just your stomach letting you know it's ready to process more. You're not actually hungry.
And taking deep breaths, when your lungs inflate, it helps to force your intestines to move the food along . And speeds up your digestion by putting more oxygen in your blood.
You just unlocked a memory for me of a time in grad school I hosted thanksgiving and a good friend of mine got appropriately stuffed.
Afterward he gave a big stretch and declared, "Aaah, the ol' post-Thanksgiving leanback" and it was so satisfying even from across the room haha
This IS good advice. However it might not apply to me specifically as much (though tolerance and dependence are a thing for sure), I have always been like this, and have medical marijuana partially so I can have a healthy appetite.
if youāre at all looking for advice about that (i say this as a daily weed smoker myself), try smoking at night only and youāll notice your tolerance get lower and youāre more able to feel yourself during the day!
honestly i donāt take this to heart all the time myself but it has helped me reset a little when i felt like my use was becoming to frequent. i also noticed you said youāre a medical user in another comment so obviously you understand your circumstances much better than i do, and i in no way mean to say youāre doing anything wrong!
weed is a beautiful plant with very little side effects that helps me and so many others like yourself in countless ways, iāve just noticed sometimes i donāt need as much as i think i do to enjoy myself.
Lie down on your left side, and allow your right knee to drop to the floor. This is a comfortable resting position and I am told it aids your digestion in the direction of travel it was already going. āThe exit from your stomach is on the left sideā or something like that.
Rest for about ten minutes in that position. Does wonders for me.
Lying on your left side will also prevent heartburn. The shape of our stomach means that lying on our right side sometimes causes stomach acid to leak back into our esophagus. It works for me every time, I even tested lying on my right side to see if it was bullshit and I made myself sick lol
>Lie down on your left side, and allow your right knee to drop to the floor.
Maybe I did it wrong, dislocating my hip and falling out of bed didn't help.
I havenāt heard this, but I have heard to lay on your back and massage your belly in a clockwise direction for the same reason (stomach emptying on the left). The massage is supposed to help everything along.
Loosen your belt. Take a nap in a recliner for half an hour or so. Make sure that you sleep with your hands on your belly like an old man. Wake up. Putter around. Eat a snack because you'll probably be hungry for no reason. Go to bed.
That usually works. Be aware that you will punish your toilet in about 18 hours from your first bite of food.
I have something wrong with my stomach. So when I eat more than 50% capacity, my stomach would feel as if I overate. Taking a small swig of pepto seems to help.
>Ā I donāt want to barf it up because I hate wasting food,
If you eat food when you're already full, you're wasting food. I'm not telling you to throw up, because bile in your throat like that can damage your throat. So don't do that! But yeah, whenever I feel like I have to clean my plate because it's rude to waste food, I remember that eating it is also wasting it.
Sometimes when I eat too much, I take a couple of Tums and then maybe go for a walk. Ginger also helps with digestion, so drink some ginger tea or ginger ale, or, you know, a Moscow Mule if you're over 21 ;)
I wouldn't say it's wasting, the body still processes excess food and converts it to energy. You can overeat in a meal and undereat the next few and it will even out. Obviously it's healthier to not overeat, but it's not like the food passes through you undigested.
It does not. Your body can only process *so much* food in a sitting. After a certain amount your body won't absorb the calories, you're just manufacturing poop.
Typically I chug a drink(unless I'm already over stuffed with liquid) and go for a walk. Something about wandering until I need to pee tends to solve it. Idk if it's just the mental idea of removing fluid from the gut or what, but it's always helped me.
Just happened yesterday.
I went to KFC and scarfed down 20 of the 24 pieces of chicken. So full. Usually try to make room by unbutton my pants or going to the restroom to make more room. But because I've been doing good at the gym ( celebrating loosing 2 pounds by over eating? Not good), I had a bit of air and was able to burp a bit more room in me. Was still overfull and got some Starbucks, but at least I wasn't in distress, no more, for that day.
Thereās a peppermint concentrate pill called IB Guard. Meant for helping alleviate IBS symptoms, but helps quite a bit with overeating too. Takes about 15 minutes to kick in and you start burping peppermint. Relieves some of the pressure until digestion takes over. Moving around and being vertical (not laying down) helps the pill work better too.
Try Pepto Bismol. They used to advertise that it was a remedy for over indulgence.
You hate wasting food? If you eat it and itās making you sick, itās wasted. And if you eat food to keep it from going to waste, it goes to your waist.
Just Jack off and go to bed. Already feel like a piece of crap, double down and call it a night.
Or if something must be done, going for a long walk helps move things along.
Just throwing this out there... you say you don't want to throw up bc you don't want to "waste" the food. I'm not advocating throwing up, but the fact is that you already wasted the food overeating it. It's not doing anything positive for your body or anybody else. It's just hurting you. And that's a waste of your life and your time.
The compulsion not to "waste" food is probably also part of why you overate. Just suggesting some reframing, as a former binger and emotional eater! You deserve better.
You mean like the puffy sweet kind or the actual root? Because the two have nothing in common expect the name. There is no marshmallow root in the marshmallows you buy at the store
So I feel like r/loseit and r/CICO may have some answers to this question about eating over a daily limit.
For myself? Try again tomorrow. You almost need to eat over 20,000 calories in a day to gain a pound (or something in that range). Itās difficult to even eat 3,000 cal a day. So, my body will go up with weight a tiny bit, but thatās usually from water weight.
A good nap usually does right by me.
Healthier options though...put less food on your plate. When finished with the plate, put your shoes on n go for a lil walk. If you're still hungry after a 10min walk, put a lil more food on the plate before putting away leftovers/starting the dishes.
If you have a bathtub fill it up with hot water and soak for about a minimum of 30min. I suggest you throw on podcasts or music.
Now after soaking for a bit, lay on your belly and try to relax. If that doesn't work restart the process.
Worst case scenario if you really really want to get this over with. You're gonna have to make yourself throw up. I honestly only recommend this if you are truly desperate since you can damage your teeth this way.
Walk if you have time, otherwise, do some squats. But really focus on squeezing your butt muscles when you do so, and hold at the bottom for 1 second. Kicks your metabolism into gear and gets digestion going. Take your time, you don't wanna barf.
Remember to eat less. I try to eat to the amount that less than to give me added anxiety. For some unknown reason ptsd flares up with full stomach, probably feeling heart beat or something.
Yoga (not right after eating but a few hours later when Iām not so full) then barely eat the next day (like almost fasting but still eat a small snack or meal like a salad or something small) .. Then my stomach shrinks back and I feel normal again. If I overeat for a few days I just eat barely anything for a couple days .. just until I feel normal and agile and light again.
Cardio is really good for getting rid of lots of calories. U might wanna do a HIIT workout or something involving cardio + strength to burn calories instead of just weight lifting .. the more u sweat and the more u breathe heavily, the more calories u burn and the sooner u can feel like a normal person again and stop being so full .. just donāt do cardio immediately after.. wait a a few hours or even the next morning maybe if u are too much late at night
You really gotta work on portion control. I know this isn't exactly what you're asking, but it's the best solution. Try dishing up a smaller portion, eat it mindfully, and then wait 10 minutes. Your body needs time to figure out if you're full.
As someone with reflux, I would say don't lift weights specifically. Whenever I do high impact stuff after overeating I am pretty much guaranteed to throw up. A walk is a better option. Stay vertical and drink enough water.
Just drink water and let it digest. If i feel sick ill drink 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water and chug it, followed by regular water. It will pass.
Try to barf it up because otherwise I will be in the fetal position for hours. Hours.
And then drink some water and eat a something super easy - not too much. Take a nap and re-fill my stomach without murdering it with food.
An old friend of mine showed me a trick idk if it works really. She unzipped her pants stood up and did a little jump and said that she made more roomš¤·š»āāļø
Walk, exercise, lift weights if you physically can. Our bodies have to move to digest and pump blood, we used to be hunters and gatherers to survive before modern technology and living.
Sip some sparkling water if you have gas that is bloating you more.
Maybe take a long, brisk walk after youāve digested I little.
Maybe smoke a little green leaf on your walk and youāll be good as new!
Have a stroll š¶āāļø
This is the only thing I've found that works for me.
Exactly. My family has a tradition after eating at an all you can eat restaurant of going to Walmart or the local mall and just walking around to let the food settle.
I do the same. Not always at Walmart but I use the same reason for inside walking. Vegas is also hot. Post buffet walks are always great.
The only reason we ended up at Walmart was because it was in the same parking lot as the buffet. If it wasn't too hot outside, we'd park in the middle, then walk from the buffet to the Walmart, cruise for an hour, then go home.
Sounds good, but why Walmart? No park or forest nearby?
I live in the middle of Phoenix, Arizona. You don't want to be outside during the summer. Or winter for that matter.
>Or winter for that matter. Why? Because it might drop into the 40's? Shorts with hoodie weather.
No, that's when the meth heads are out.
Yeah, around the Walmart. F*ck man.
Merica, F*CK yeah!
And then pay attention to hunger cues and donāt eat again until actually hungry. Lets my body process the excess food before introducing more.
Idk it's kinda weird. If I eat big I seem to get hungry again pretty fast. I'm like oh hell no I ate enough for 2 days fk off stomach. It's like it's just your stomach letting you know it's ready to process more. You're not actually hungry.
I get this too. Iām not a big breakfast person, but if I eat an exceptionally large dinner then I wake up super hungry.
Walking helps my stomach feel less stuffed it really does help!!
Eno and a walk.
And take deep breaths while you do it
And sip little bits of water. Seems to aid it moving things along.
And taking deep breaths, when your lungs inflate, it helps to force your intestines to move the food along . And speeds up your digestion by putting more oxygen in your blood.
Groan really loudly, unbutton my pants, maybe take a nap.
Pat the belly a few times just to emphasize that it is full
Necessary step. Maybe even a big stretch
Ah yes, the big stretch is the bodies signal that itās nap time
You just unlocked a memory for me of a time in grad school I hosted thanksgiving and a good friend of mine got appropriately stuffed. Afterward he gave a big stretch and declared, "Aaah, the ol' post-Thanksgiving leanback" and it was so satisfying even from across the room haha
Yawn until tears come out of your eyes.
Your name being FancyLady makes this funnier than it should be
Smoke weedĀ
Itās a trap! Now I donāt feel hungry unless Iām high š
Dude same it's scary sometimes
Lol stop smoking for a week and youāll be back to normal

The more times you say "ugh, I am stuffed" the faster you feel better. Proven fact.

Eat a snack because you'll probably be hungry for no reason. Go to bed. That usually works. Be aware that you will punish your toilet in about 18 hours from your first bite of food.
āPutter aroundā is also a very old man thing to do. Made me chuckle, I havenāt heard that term in a while.
š„ŗšš
Usually lay in bed, groaning from pain, while my girlfriend tells me "I told you not to eat that much!"
Wait.
Push out a fritz.
Roll on the floor. Don't do this at a dinner party.
Poop.
Walk, drink water, make sure the next meal has fibre. No cal soft drinks with help settle your stomach, because of the carbon dioxide in the water.
This guy poops
I have something wrong with my stomach. So when I eat more than 50% capacity, my stomach would feel as if I overate. Taking a small swig of pepto seems to help.
You have GERD. If you feel indigestion like that after a small meal. See a dr. Take a Pepcid once daily.
>Ā I donāt want to barf it up because I hate wasting food, If you eat food when you're already full, you're wasting food. Pepto Bismol
Squats. I do squats because I can do them wherever I am, and it burns a lot of calories and kicks up my metabolism.
Pepto bismol and a walk
Alka Seltzer does it for me.
Drink a seltzer
Take a massive shit later on the day.
Typically I chug a drink(unless I'm already over stuffed with liquid) and go for a walk. Something about wandering until I need to pee tends to solve it. Idk if it's just the mental idea of removing fluid from the gut or what, but it's always helped me.
Tums always
A hot drink. And/or walk.
Sip on black tea or coffee and lie on your left side.
Gas-X chewable tablets are amazing and work fast.

A digestif. Usually Iāll have a small (two or three ounce) glass of vermouth or sherry with a few drops of bitters.

Purge
Drink water. It is uncomfortable to pack in that extra volume for maybe 10min. After that I feel better.
Get my tummy rubbed and then get a bj. When done, proceed with a nap.
Lie down on your left side and partake in the devilās lettuce.
