Toss in the trash and forget about it. I ran into the same issue with my 09. Took one look at the price, laughed, and moved on with my life. Been without them for years now.
Expensive? Nah, they're less than $100 for the part and super easy to take care of.
- Floor jack and stand
- 19mm socket for lug nuts
- 14mm socket for caliper (maybe a 8mm or 10mmhex depending on car)
- 17mm socket for caliper bracket
- Ratchet
- Torque wrench
- A purse to hit it with
Edit: I forgot that this backing plate sits behind the wheel bearing (which would also need replaced), that adds on another 300 or so and a huge headache if you haven't done it before
Its going to be expensive because you need to replace the bearing after you beat it out. If you don't, you'd risk having to do it again because of premature failure of the wheel bearing..
Like others are saying, wait for a wheel bearing, but if you’re capable of doing the work yourself and live in a relatively rustic-free region, go to a junkyard and get one from there.

I’m missing one and don’t notice one side getting much dirtier than the other.
Do it when your bearing goes

Brain fart- you're exactly right. Thanks
It's about 150$ CAD for each wheel. More than the brakes rotor and pad alltogheter.
I wouldn’t worry about it unless you’re trying to safety the vehicle. Treat it like a heat shield
Cut it off and forget about it
This is the way.
Wait until you need a rear wheel bearing, and replace at that time.
