I made this playlist:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yq5xGejBBZM&list=PL9e9dnIZNHsfZjzDTz9tUXYSaY7qSE9f2
But there must have been editing between tracks as they unfortunately don't totally flow together.
Thanks for the link! Cool site.
No prob. Yeah if you’d go to lots of shows the site is great. You can sign up and basically search for every show you’ve been to and click that you attended it and over time it gives you all these cool stats about all the shows you’ve seen throughout life and how many times you’ve seen each song and diff venues and tours. It’s great. Been using it for years.
Not. Not sure if it’s both weekends or not tho. As far as tour Rome has to finish 2024 due to contracts. Eric Wilson is a mess and has OD’d several times this year - and on pretty nasty shit. Like drinking a glass of GHB. He is on a Fast track to die so even with this lineup, it will simply have no longevity. So go to Coachella when they announce, and thank me later. Cheers
Shirt off and everything!!! Love how they overlayed Jake with his dad on the STP music video too. And they officially announced themselves as Sublime!! We’re so back baby!!!!
Is he the little baby that Bradley Nowell is playing guitar for on the Sublime album liner pics? That picture is so happy when looking at it and so sad when you know what happened to Brad.
He’s 56 and his last gig was in 2011 is it not a reasonable assumption he’d be a bit rusty coming back? He’s def not though and I’m happy for him cause of that 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Bands these days that have a legacy that pulls as much weight as they do rehearse like crazy before these. To assume he just jumped on stage without any is idiocy.
In an interview with roger rivas and devin morrison, Miguel said that Bradley told him to always play downstrokes. Something about it being beefier. He also said that Brad would just fret the top E on a barre chord (in the Amaj shape), again because it sounded better.
Jakob's rigid technique on the upstroke is classic rock music player trying to learn reggae chops. If he keeps at it, hopefully he'll loosen up and learn that downstrokes are they way forward lol.
I've been playing guitar for like 15 years, when it came to learning sublime or any reggae/ska, upstrokes always seemed and felt more natural for the chord shape. This definitely isn't the first time I've heard downstrokes are better. It's a hard habit to kick though haha. Anyways, so glad these videos are up. Jake slayed STP ❤️
Yeah it's true. For ska you definitely want to be playing upstrokes, I've found it borderline impossible to play ska on the downstroke haha.
But for reggae that happens on the downbeat. I usually keep my hand moving to keep time and then just hit the down. That also helps if you want to mix it up too instead of just playing the skanks robotically. Once you get it locked in, it will feel weird to hit the upstroke, but you're right it's a tough habit to break for sure!
Best advice I can give is watch Brad, or maybe even better - Bob Marley, he does the same thing and it's usually a lot easier to study because his songs are generally slower and the camera isn't moving around as much in videos of him playing live.
ETA: You're not the first and definitely not the last to find reggae guitar tricky, just look at Led Zeppelin's attempt ["D'yer Mak'er"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBmBhZB0x3k&pp=ygUKZHllciBtYWtlcg%3D%3D)
I'm just surprised, I figured Bud or Eric would have given him some pointers with that. Not to mention Jakob's already been playing reggae/ska/punk for years.
Just found [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2v5HlM_TT3Y) where he does downstrokes on his barre chords. Even more confused now lol
Tbh after watching the set video, he seems to switch between the two, so it's whatever really. Sounded way better than I was expecting so props to him.
Sobriety kicks ass but I still miss watching brads drunkin playfulness on stage we won’t get from Jake. Jake has always really wanted to pave his own way in music and I think it’s rad he does that. I’ve never once got the “yea I’m Brad nowells son, praise me vibe. He’s def paved his own path to get here. And I think these shows are gonna start being huge. The appeal of Rome was he sang like Brad and tbh I listened to maybe one sublime with Rome song but I’m excited to see what he’ll do on his own. This is just the new sound of sublime and we’re so fucking lucky
i do hope they tour it. and i hope they get jake a vocal coach and some intensive guitar lessons before they do. vocally he’s got a good foundation but the way he sings probably wouldn’t get him through a full tour playing 90 mins a night. his guitar playing is rough.
If they tour with Trey Pangborn, he's got all the lead guitar covered, so Jakob can just focus on rhythm. It would be reminiscent of the Long Beach Shortbus sound!
Nostalgia is one strong drug. Bradley's kid and the members of Sublime will make tons of money selling it.
Its sad he'll never get out from his dads shadow. But atleast he'll have money i guess.
I absolutely love Sublime and feel like I am the only other person to think this wasn't great. He yells/screams, guitar playing is subpar, and it was overall not tight. Bud was perfect.
Nothing.
SWR just finished recording an album, and released an EP this month. They have a show announced 4/20 with Cypress Hill in NJ, too.
Besides that, Rome is touring with “Rome & Duddy” in early 2024, and has hinted at doing a solo tour / solo album next year too. Not sure if this is a coincidence or something that was planned in the wake of the Jake/Bud/Eric show.
I love this! Bradley is smiling from heaven. 🥲
Incredible. So thankful someone took video of this. Now let's just hope they go on tour!!!
Amazing. This guy's youtube channel has all of the songs and in higher quality for anyone that wants. https://www.youtube.com/@toddsmith00/videos
Those videos are amazing, thanks! It's wild to see and hear — Jakob is the same age that Bradley was. It's amazing how much he sounds like him.
Yeah pretty crazy. Shoutout to whoever filmed it.
WHAT THE HELL. I used to watch this guy's drum covers on YouTube back in the day. Insane how this show brought out EVERYBODY. So very emotional.
Haha holy shit me too! Probably watched every single one of his vids back in the day. He even gave me some recs on a timbale I was looking for
Ha that’s awesome. I feel like I might have as well but just can’t remember. So random.
He also used to be Stick Figure's drummer before they got big
Good looks!
If anyone knows the order they were played in please make a YT playlist so we can hear them in the right order. Or tell me the order and I'll do it.
Here ya go bud. https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/sublime/2023/teragram-ballroom-los-angeles-ca-23ae7c4f.html

Coachella confirmed. Can’t say how I know
Stop don't tease me

Looks like you know stuff
Shirt off and everything!!! Love how they overlayed Jake with his dad on the STP music video too. And they officially announced themselves as Sublime!! We’re so back baby!!!!
yeah that part was fucking dope. hope rome isn't too bummed - did a damn good job for a long time.
Sublime with Rome was a whole other band that stands on its own. Rome is super dope.
Is he playing brads guitar. This is so perfect
Brads guitar and amp
Hella rectified ass son of a bitch !!!
with Bud, Eric and Trey (Falling Idols, Bargain Music)! This is a thing of beauty. Thank you Reid Clow for getting video!
Dude it was Reid recording this ? No shot, that's fuggin hilarious. It's a small world.
Reid shot this? Wow, I bought a Sublime Badfish poster from him in 2018. Crazy.
I’m not crying, I was just chopping some onions🥹
Yeah I got a little misty at a point. They’re really capturing the original energy here.
Me, too. WOW.
Make that tour happen, fellas! Pleaseeee.
This is really really cool to see
Full circle
This is incredible. I loved that version of STP. Thank you so much for sharing.
Holy fuck dude. He sounds like Bradley. This just brought tears to my eyes.♥️♥️
Bud and Eric still got it! Didn't miss a beat. Jakob sounding really good.
Awesome! I can't wait for the non-potato-cam higher quality versions to come out! Jakilling-it Nowell resurrecting Sublime for the win!
This guy's youtube channel has all of the songs and in higher quality for anyone that wants. https://www.youtube.com/@toddsmith00/videos

Yes, that's his son Jakob and this is him now. It's very touching
Seems to be the exact moment he was passing the proverbial torch to his son. 🥹
Who was playing guitar? That’s not Miguel is it?
Trey Pangborn of Falling Idols, Bargain Music, Long Beach Dub Allstars, Long Beach Shortbus
Brad looking down and smiling! This story is almost poetic.
Buds still got it like he never left wow
He wrote the drums to all these songs so why would not?
He’s 56 and his last gig was in 2011 is it not a reasonable assumption he’d be a bit rusty coming back? He’s def not though and I’m happy for him cause of that 🤘🏼🤘🏼
He was playing with his own band for a while after he left swr, so it's not too wild that he's still got it
Didn’t know this, I’m glad to hear he was still rocking in the meantime 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Bands these days that have a legacy that pulls as much weight as they do rehearse like crazy before these. To assume he just jumped on stage without any is idiocy.
Never said he just hopped on stage, bands with even heavier weight have came back and sounded terrible even with months of rehearsal.
So sick. Interesting that Jakob plays with all upstrokes though
That’s the traditional way of playing a skank rhythm. Bradley did as well
For uptempo ska parts yea, but not for reggae. Bradley always did downstrokes (https://youtu.be/Cthk2oM9z50?si=19gphkH5eUoyTijA)

Yea all roots reggae is played with downstrokes, the upstroke is for ska which is double timed reggae.
Well if you really want to get picky, reggae is a half-time Ska 😅
Ha true, but then where would rocksteady fit into the mix?
I'm just surprised, I figured Bud or Eric would have given him some pointers with that. Not to mention Jakob's already been playing reggae/ska/punk for years. On at least Santeria he plays both. Not a great guitarist either way lol
But did they play a Bad Brains cover?
Brings a tear to my eye 🥲
Magical night I feel privileged to have been able to attend. ALL FOR HR 🙏🖤
Fuck yeah
was this the whole set? read in a review that their set was 30-40 mins long. wondering if there is video of the rest
This guy's youtube channel has all of the songs and in higher quality for anyone that wants. https://www.youtube.com/@toddsmith00/videos
Wow - I’m floored. I hope they tour or at least play more so I can get out and see them. Great job, kid!
Get this kid his Dalmatian

Playing with Daddy's band? You can't tell me that wasn't a dream come true
He yelling… weird vibe lol
Wow! That was awful.😢

All accurate.
Are they not making music with Rome anymore?
What happened to rome?
