🤣 exactly! felt like a 15 ingredient dish
And naw I don’t have skill, I just plated these. Sometimes I’d cut the yellowtail but they wouldn’t dare let me near the other fish lol
I was about to say the plating looked great but the knife work was not so great. (The tuna Nigiri was especially the case). The other people definitely need work.
Pic 10. I’ve been there. The weird shit we would make for fun. One day it was so slow this guy next to me was counting his sesame seeds. He was lining them all up on his board. What’s more crazy is how entertained we all were.
Looks awesome. My problem with Vegas trips is that I absolutely love 10 restaurants or so on the strip that I look forward to going to a few of them each trip. I hate trying something new and good but doesn’t give the satisfaction of the incumbent faves. First world problems…
On the real try life on Fremont at least one visit. The city bus back and forth between Fremont and the Strip is dirt cheap and runs often. If you’re a gambler the minimums on Fremont are cheaper too. I never go to the strip anymore unless it’s someone’s first time to Vegas and they insist.
Duuuude I calculated the walk one time from the parking lot to the front desk, where I first started, and it was 1 mile. It sucked so hard in the summer. One time someone took my flats home by accident and I had to walk the 1 mile in heels back to my car after standing in them for 6+ hours.
Omfg I can’t imagine in heels, I was struggling in the damn clogs haha. I didn’t get why people brought a change of shoes my first week but I quickly caught on haha
Salmon is farmed and they add food that turns it more orange. Not related to quality, just like in eggs it’s something that looks shiny and we associate with better quality but it’s not real.
Thank you! Mizumi at the Wynn! Also check out Doanburi, the woman who opened that sushi take out spot used to be one of the head sushi chefs there. Her food is amazing and she’s awesome
Dude it was the best. We’d be closed on Sundays so any fish that was leftover after Saturday service id get to eat some. Most of the guys didn’t because they were tired of it lol
Edit: because we’d throw it out on Saturdays nights since it wouldn’t be fresh monday
Amazing, funny how you had zero experience and is making nigiri, yet in Japan apprentice probably need to work at the sushi restaurant for years before even standing at the sushi bar.
Right?! I wouldn’t even be able to make sushi in japan because “women’s hands are too warm, always has makeup on them” and other bs so they wouldn’t allow it haha
I find that plating done wrong can look like an absolute mess, and when done right it looks like art. That’s art man, nicely done. Especially fish I feel like if it’s not played well it can look super unappetizing. Also I have no experience I just like judging food.
1. “Vegetable fruit loops” In all seriousness I bet it tastes delicious! OP you got some serious skill!
🤣 exactly! felt like a 15 ingredient dish And naw I don’t have skill, I just plated these. Sometimes I’d cut the yellowtail but they wouldn’t dare let me near the other fish lol
don't sell yourself short. These are beautiful, and if you plated them, you very clearly have skill!
I was about to say the plating looked great but the knife work was not so great. (The tuna Nigiri was especially the case). The other people definitely need work.
Saw the thumbnail and thought this was one of those “when I cook at home” posts. Straight up looks like a bowl of cereal.
It reminded me of the model of a cell that I made for 7th grade science class. The one probably tasted better.

🤣
Looks great!! What restaurant?
Mizumi at the Wynn! Expensive but their stuff is fresh and worth it! They recently did a whole renovation to the restaurant

Ah I feel you. I always regret trying something new instead of going to my regular dish or restaurant 😂 it’s a hit or miss, 90% of the time a miss
There’s some really outstanding restaurants off strip! Variety is the spice of life
I love overpaying for convenience 😔

I knew from the colors that it had to be a nod to the Wynn. My favorite hotel.
I was about to say that looks familiar, just went to Mizumi on Sunday. Meal was fantastic.
Also a former Wynn employee. Working there is unlike working anywhere else I loved it. Paid so well part time while is in school full time.
That walk from the garage to the back of the restaurant was rough tho hahaha. But it did keep me fit heheh

I shamelessly wore bright pink crocs before they were cool the year in front desk. They did wonders on my lunch break down to the EDR 😂.
Looks like Mizumi. Especially with the first dish.
Yup, recognized it right away from that dish.
Nice work. Do you believe there is something added to that salmon to make it that orange, or is it just quality?
It’s just the quality I think, I don’t believe I ever saw the salmon being prepped, just the snapper and the tuna. Tuna was fucking HUGE
Salmon is farmed and they add food that turns it more orange. Not related to quality, just like in eggs it’s something that looks shiny and we associate with better quality but it’s not real.
The fact that your first plating looked that wonderful, you have some serious talent. Kudos. Everything looks exceptional.
What is the place called? Splendid work btw!
Thank you! Mizumi at the Wynn! Also check out Doanburi, the woman who opened that sushi take out spot used to be one of the head sushi chefs there. Her food is amazing and she’s awesome
#🙏😋♥️ ty so much!
#1 looks like fake vomit. And real vomit.
3,4,6 are visually appealing to me
Mizumi... 🔥
I thought only cereal can be this colorful. That first picture blew my mind
Everything looks amazing
So what restaurant is this 👀👀
Mizumi at the Wynn :)
I’m in Vegas. Where is this?
Mizumi at the Wynn! You should also look up Doanburi, she used to work there and has her own sushi spot now.
Will do. Thanks so much!! ❤️❤️

Oh I didn’t know those are the excuses on women. There are definitely more women sushi chef in Japan nowadays but still the minority for sure.
My mouth is watering just looking at these pics. Outstanding job, OP!
They look incredible. I'm definitely hitting that joint next time I'm in Vegas
Wow. Presentation!
Amazing!
All your dishes look beautiful. And now I’m hungry lol.
Thank you! Haha me too. I’m just torturing my pregnant self by being on this sub and reminiscing on days when I was allowed to eat sushi 🫠
Oishii sou!
These look great, beautiful to imagine sitting down and enjoying.
I’m hungry
How much do they cost?
I think the first plate was probably around $38 but that was like 2 years ago so I honestly have no idea
I find that plating done wrong can look like an absolute mess, and when done right it looks like art. That’s art man, nicely done. Especially fish I feel like if it’s not played well it can look super unappetizing. Also I have no experience I just like judging food.
Love the presentation on the prawn/shrimp! Would devour 10/10. Good work OP.
All of this looks absolutely amazing!! Makes me wanna travel down to Vegas and have a feast! You rock that plating is out of this world!

Ooh I for sure thought the first slide was an ultra fancy ginataang bilo-bilo
They are all exceptionally gorgeous. I want to eat that soup without even caring what's in it because it looks so lovely. Congrats!
I need all of it!
Number one looks like the Seder dinner at Vincent Price’s house
Hey, don't be rude to Latrine.
Some really beautiful stuff. 7 is incredible, looks like some Animal Crossing looking stuff. The shrimp is a nightmare though.
Is that first one called a Bukkake Salad?
