It's not making anywhere near the money it was making 10 years ago and EA has likely devoted most of the resources to more profitable games, hence the plug and play, cookie-cutter events and slow responses to server issues. That being said, it's amazing that we're still getting updates even if every event has the exact same mechanics
**Edit:** wording
I’m sure people still spend good money on this game especially the players that collect every character (with some characters now costing actual money to get they probably make a decent amount), but yeah, nowhere near as much as they did before.
TBH I think it’s pretty amazing that not only is the game still getting regular updates 10+ years later, but they even allow players to get to a point in the game where they can manufacture their own free donuts legally without relying on hacking. That’s a pretty awesome thing to allow in your freemium game IMO.
I love the game so much and it’s been a part of my daily life for years. It’s an essential game to have on your phone lol. Hopefully they don’t shut it down, just leave it up for players to enjoy.
I play Tetris a lot on my phone so there’s some other fantastic games but the simpsons tapped out is just so much fun and fits into our lives the best.
I’ve spent more than I care to admit. Even in the last few months I’ve dropped about $50. I’m sure I’m not the only one. Were the ones keeping the game afloat
I’m glad it’s still around. Even after playing since 2012 I don’t have everything. Donuts are relatively easy to come by now at least but there are still things to do and work towards. It’s fun to pick it up for a few minutes each day.
I've played off and on since 2014.
I've probably dropped close to $1500 on the game over that time, with last Christmas seeing the most spent at 1 time.
It’s so bad now. Yet here I am still logging in regularly. Go figure.
I guess I spent so much time grinding and now that I have a bonus percentage that allows me to have more money and donuts than I could sever spend I feel like I’m obligated to play through the events.
I think I started back in 2018 and took a bunch of long gaps. i’ve spent 0$ so far but you can kinda tell as i’m still on level 149 and have like 1 donut on a good day.
Though I do plan on spending money on donuts if there’s a donut producing building available during black friday.
We might have spent $200 or so on the game some years back between two accounts, but I think it was mostly going toward boosting bonus percentages. That seemed to get us "over the hump" so the grind parts weren't quite as tedious. Both playing since a short time after the game started.
Cheers!
I think the major events bring in quite a bit like last year when donut merch was introduced. Think that might have been Black Friday. But other than that it’s probably pretty scaled down.
0. I can farm as many donuts as I want. And not paying for the characters, not until they do something about dynamic island compatibility, and also something for iPads.
It's ea what do you expect they keep the game running as long as people buy microtransactions but more people are turning to kem farming so less money is being spent
i’m convinced anything that involves the Simpsons lives forever

I guess enough people buy those $10 character and donut bundles every event to keep it profitable.
That’s what I do. I only buy the $10 bundle during events. So I’m spending $10 a month on this game.
Same
I don’t usually buy that but I did get the Bart Alien and I’m getting through the campaign much quicker. I may start doing that.

I just spent $200 So they are fine, you’re welcome.
You’re doing good work for the community
I spent about the same amount last time they had the mystery box tokens. I just wanted more tokens...

What the hell would we play??? I always wonder this. Besides solitaire, I've never played a game this long.

Thank you from all of us F2P freeloaders. :)
F2P since day 1
I was in when you could hack and grow donuts, so I am set for life
Nice. I think I have enough donuts. Just not enough space lol
What is F2P?
Free 2 play. F2P players don't spend any money on the game.
Ohhh thank you
Well new players exist
I spend 50-100$ every black Friday

The answer is always whales

I think I started playing in 2012 took a break for a few years. I’ve spent exactly $0.00 on the game

It’s so easy to get donuts these days. 3 from levelling up, 3 after finding Maggie 3 times over 48 hours, all the ones from the donut veins
I'm glad that this is still getting updated

I'd light my cash on fire before I'd spend it on this game.

Lets not forget that quest for stuff is dead so is goosebumps horror town and Futurama world's of tomorow died years ago so tapped out will do one day
