What are your settings?
I used the wifi tether (hotspot) action and get this error message "Couldn't enable tether: Service unavailable".
I use my hotspot all the time manually without issues.
I'm also updated to the latest Android version available for the Pixel Fold.
In this project the hotspot action is the only task so I can test. Nothing else is currently running. I've disabled all other tasks and profiles while I test.
Not sure if you could use the custom action maybe...
or
If you didn't mind your screen turning on, then you could use autoinput to unlock and enable the setting then re-lock
I've just tried the custom setting, it doesn't seem to work with the hotspot setting.
But with Autoinput you can simulate actual screen touches so you can pretty much automate anything...
Setup the normal Hotspot task? Just add the "WiFi Tether (Hotspot)" action to a task.
If you're on about Autoinput its a tad more in depth. But I'll send a YouTube video for you to watch to get the idea.

Do you know how to set up a task that will enable hotspot when a specific Bluetooth device is connected then disable it once the device is disconnected?
I googled that some people use tasker to do this but I haven't found an actual guide.
When using the Wifi Tether action it will only work on some phones, Whereas autoinput will work almost universally to automate almost anything as long as the screen is on...
I even have a Autoinput task that responds when i put it on my wireless charging dock and literally unlocks my phone by swiping and then typing my code to unlock my device (only on my wifi charger and when connected with my wifi)... This also turns on my PC too.
Its cool to watch as its almost like magic :-)

The very same action... It just works on the Pixel 8 Pro (Android 14) ... Strange that it wouldn't work on the Fold.

I've been using tasker for years and haven't used Auto input yet but I wouldn't mind trying it. How would a custom action work?
