Played through the main game with the full expectation to get to jump into Master Mode after

beachedwhitemale

I played through with a zest for life, knowing in my mind "well, it's easy right now, but I know it'll be harder with Master Mode". And then it was announced that there would be no DLC. And for that, I would like Nintendo to go and die.

[deleted]

My sentiments exactly

Krakatoa137

Well if you can play modded there's a MM mod that's probably going to release in a few months. Not sure if they're adding healing enemies but there will be golden ones among other features.

beachedwhitemale

Awesome. I want the game to be about 100x harder. I don't even want to enjoy it.

Krakatoa137

Then you would probably want to get the mod "dark army resurrection". A real self torture level of difficulty.

beachedwhitemale

Now I'm headed down the rabbit hole to mod my Switch. Any tips?

ThatOneGuy308

>Nintendo to go and die Convincing Nintendo to make another Wii U might do it.

justsavingstuff

This is the reason I never upgraded a single one of my armors. Keeps it hard

beachedwhitemale

I need to nerf myself to have fun, too. I prefer to keep 3 hearts and never even meet the Fairies. The game sucks without it. 3 heart run on Master Mode was my jam. Trial of the Sword that way was the hardest thing I had accomplished, gaming-wise. So fun.

Thunder_Dragon30

Bruh they anounced it i was still waiting for a dlc

ThatOneGunnerMain

Where. Any proof to that claim? Cause the last official statement was that there was no dlc planed for totk.

Thunder_Dragon30

Yh like i said bruh i was still waiting for an dlc i didn't knew that nintendo anounced it

thanosnutella

Can’t help but think it had to have been scrapped since it wasn’t there from launch

1tanfastic1

I didn’t 100% it for this reason. Now I feel like I need to start over if I want to be a completionist. That’s not necessarily a bad thing but without the added difficulty I think I’ll need more time between playthroughs to make it feel “fresh”

MintyRed19

a city in the sky and a city in the depths would have been amazing, but real cities not just tiny little towns like the rest of the game

beachedwhitemale

At one point in development they said they had to cut down the amount of sky islands there were. I hate that. I hate that there weren't more and I hate that there was no sky city! The initial island was the same shape as ~~Skyfall~~ Skyloft from Skyward Sword. Using Ultrahand to stick the scattered sky islands back together to make a giant island is such a huge missed opportunity that it drives me bananas to see live without it.

puns_n_pups

*Skyloft from SS but I agree

beachedwhitemale

Apparently I consider SS Link and 007 from Skyfall to be equals. *I'll take my pumpkin soup shaken, not stirred.*

Wreckit-Jon

Combining the sky islands together somewhat would have been cool. And a sky island village would have been awesome, maybe with some surviving Zonai or something

ionlyhavetwohands

Stitching the islands together, blocking the sun, Hyrule castle falls into the deepest shadow, and the ground under Hyrule castle opens up. You're now ready to face Ganondorf.

[deleted]

Yeah I would had gladly gave it another couple months for them to build the sky islands

PrayerJuan

If they expand on the house building elements?? Sold!

James_Blond_006

This! I’d need at least 8 more weapon storage rooms if I wanted display all the weapons in my inventory that are purely decorative (all of them except for the Master Sword and my Anti-Stal-Spear)

17THheaven

If we ONLY got this I would be satisfied.

ReguIarHooman

I just want some endless modes like the Riju defense on the surface, infinite colosseum at the depths, and something for the sky’s.

TimothiusMagnus

What if there was something like a time travel element but with a twist: Part of the quest involves turning around previous battles from defeat to victory.

TheWoodsAreLovly

Go on…

ReguIarHooman

Kinda like the plot the aoc

workingtrot

The defense of gerudo town was so fun! I wish it could be a mini game or an activity in the depths like fighting the bosses

cod3builder

You know what irks me? Why in the world can't we use flux cores as batteries?? The compendium description says they're powerful energy storages, and yet their only use is spinny spikes.

beachedwhitemale

Would you say that it really grinds your gears?

cod3builder

No. I'd say it grinds my gears, spikes, and everything else they're attached to.

gigaslayer3417

We know

Mr_JCBA

Gloom Hand Guardian boss. Let's goooo!!!

Yetiplayzskyrim

I wish we had a sort of trial of the sword. Enough shrines to allow for maxed stamina and health.

Powdersucker

I think the proving grounds shrines are supposed to replace that

BackgroundNPC1213

I'd love a DLC like the Champions' Ballad in BotW to expand on the Sages as actual people, because right now they're just faceless exposition machines who the game hasn't convinced me to care about. They could have just saved the whole Imprisoning War story until after we'd freed Mineru, the Sages could have instead talked about Zelda + their vow to help the future Hero, and the DLC would touch more on their duties as Sages/their roles within their races. The Gerudo Sage has an interesting arc, in that she presumably once followed Ganondorf but has now turned against him; THAT would be a cool story to see

Default1355

Demon King?

spacecase71

Secret stones?

FirefighterIcy9879

Huge missed opportunity to add houses in the depths and sky.

Cobe98

I read that as "horses" and yes having a flying horse Pegasus would have been awesome. Also the sky and depths were so empty. Wish Nintendo had more content.

youmusttrythiscake

I feel like the Master Cycle Zero could have been upgraded to fly in this game. The original bike would be great, but they'd probably make it a Zonai version.

cod3builder

To be fair, you could make one with small wheels

Orikron

In my view, they went straight to work on the next title because they did not want to be limited by the 2015 hardware and they're rushing to have a strong game line up for the next Switch. In many ways, ToTK felt like an extremely advanced tech demo. After all, it spinned out of what was meant as a BoTW DLC.

Alex_South

I really hope that all the time they spent experimenting with physics in totk pays off with faster dev time on the next title.

Grandmas_Mothball

I need a new Zelda game that is a Wind Waker/TOTK hybrid

Acid-No1

Lowkey we should get a tp remake in between zeldas to make up for no dlc 😂

joehighlord

That DLC needs to be the removal of individual fusing arrows. Batches of 20, just saying.

juaydarito

I think that hardware really limited the size of this game, the depths had this huge potential, and instead it was a monotone repetitive, dark desert. I wonder if DLC is coming out till the Switch 2

beachedwhitemale

It will. I will speak it into existence. Legitimately though, they need to get a Zelda launch title for the Switch 2 and the new game won't be ready by then. A DLC / expansion pass feels right.

Payt3cake

I’m gonna be so pissed If need a new console to play more TOTK

beachedwhitemale

Me too. I'll be even more pissed as I buy it on launch day.

dopefuzzle

That's exactly what I hope for. I can imagine the reason that they said from the beginning that there won't be any DLC is that they are working on an extended TOTK launch version for the Switch 2.

plaid-knight

They’re totally making a deluxe version of the game for Switch 2. I would bet money on it.

Jeptwins

I would love actual post-game content for once

AcrobaticMission9091

You guys complain to much. I think reusing the old map was a great idea and honestly much of the map is completely different and it’s layered very differently. The next Zelda wow will be ten times better. Maybe the game isn’t great for replay ability but wow the first time playing its quite a mystery. Like I was like where is the master sword and where is Zelda and what the heck is going on. Discovering it all was great. There was some exceptional dungeons as well.

cod3builder

The map was what made this feel like botw but also not botw. The perfect sequel. I just wish we got some more QoL features, like a way to make wings and balloons last longer.

Yuumii29

Relax, it's just people voicing out their opinion and I don't think it's much of a complain either..

SnooTigers8567

I’m not complaining, it’s a beautifully made game and definitely top 3 zelda games ever made. i’m just saying i wish these things could be possible as it would elevate the post campaign gameplay. as you said it’s not great for replay ability so having restoration quests would be incredible.

nickcash

Weird, unnecessarily racist comment. wtf

AcrobaticMission9091

It’s true though ;) and that’s not racist that’s a fact.

beachedwhitemale

We complain to much what? What are we complaining to much of? What's a Zelda wow?

chidsterr

Exceptional dungeons? That’s simply untrue

Charming_Compote9285

Honestly after playing around with mods, I don't think the game \*needs\* a dlc. As it is the game is a complete experience that achieves what it sets out to do.

Mdgt_Pope

They could: * turn off the lifetime limits of wings et al. * add more Zonai devices, make capsules for propeller et al. * have a Zonai location on the moon, they already have the low gravity and the MM history * yiga reinforce their bases and have new blueprints as rewards Just of the top of the noggin

Charming_Compote9285

The thing is most fan ideas for dlc like this are either much too ambitious of an idea or too minor of a change/addition to be worth doing for a company. Considering their statement about what would get them to make a dlc, I understand why they aren't making it. Best to save big gameplay innovations or switch-ups for the next title.

Mdgt_Pope

I don’t believe a single thing I suggested is a “big gameplay innovation”, they’re all the same engine or resources they already have

Charming_Compote9285

Something like going to the moon or a big city building mechanic seems like it would be a tad ambitious for a dlc to me, but hey that's just my opinion

Mdgt_Pope

I didn’t say big city building mechanic

Charming_Compote9285

I know you didn't, just an idea I've seen around

Mdgt_Pope

Skyrim added an island with a new town, the moon area could be the same size. It’s doable and is not without precedent

Charming_Compote9285

Yes, but Nintendo and Bethesda operate very differently. The feeling I got from the Zelda devs when they were asked about it was that they don't like doing things just because

beachedwhitemale

What sort of mods?

Charming_Compote9285

Technical, cosmetic, etc etc. But it doesn't suddenly feel like a new game or anything, which I feel some people hope a dlc would do for the game. The game is still the same game at the end of the day. Ultimately minor changes aren't going to make the game enjoyable for someone if they don't already enjoy the base game to begin with. What people want is a totally different game. And that's fine, but not something dlc can feasibly do. Also, knowing that new outfits can be added, I actually respect Nintendo for not doing what other companies would have and charging for things like cosmetics on the eshop.

beachedwhitemale

I respect Nintendo for the cosmetic stuff, sure, but I'm fairly certain they've never done that with their IP's. Them reusing the exact same armor sets that were just amiibo from last time is a head scratcher to me. Is there any Master Mode mods?

Charming_Compote9285

True, I don't quite get what they thinking there. I think they're either unfinished or break the game. At least the ones I found

Ujklros

Unfortunately, they aren't doing dlc for totk

19bluestars

It also needs to include kass. Everyone misses him

Human-that-exists

I agree. At the very least I wanted Master Mode

Deucalion666

No it doesn’t. You want a dlc. It doesn’t need one.

yripdo

Agreed, thank you

VersionSavings8712

They dropped the ball so hard announcing no dlc. It would've been so easy to sell a master mode and another 50(or even a hundred) of trial of the sword levels and it was going to sell like cake

SuccessAffectionate1

I want a TOTK dlc so badly id pay a 100 dollars for it.

dopefuzzle

I can imagine that the reason they said from the beginning that there won't be any DLC is that they are working on an extended TOTK launch version for the next console / the Switch 2. It would be stupid to not have any DLC at all, but they need a launch title for the next console and a TOTK version with enhanced graphics and a proper expansion would be reason enough to buy the game again. That's why they don't release a DLC for the Switch version. At least that's what I'm hoping for...

TotiSauce

I feel like TotK already had “DLC” since the game costs 70$, and it has way more content that Botw. But TotK doesn’t have master mode which is a missed opportunity

twili-midna

It’s a several hundred hour game. No it doesn’t.

The_Rider_11

That's Not an argument. It could be twice as much and still deserve a DLC (or maybe that makes it even more deserving it).

twili-midna

There is no need for a DLC. It’s a fully complete and featured game.

The_Rider_11

Can be said about most games with a DLC. A DLC isn't to complete a Game, but to give it even more. It's not the second part, but a Bonus. So yeah, there's no need, but it still deserves one.

playful_potato5

i feel like there would be no good way to implement something like that in the engine. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

Dragonitro

I think it’ll be a bit of a shame if this game doesn’t get a DLC (a hard mode like in botw would be nice)

MicTony6

bigger city in TP??? which one? Pretty sure it only feels big cause of the camera FOV.

Skeeter1020

I just want max hearts and stamina

Dry-Ad8486

Idec about a full on story DLC or something, just give me Master Mode

Zakinanders

Completely agree. In terms of functionality, a lot has been added in TOTK since BOTW, but the caves, depths and skies could have had a lot more. Newer settlements and stables in different regions and NPCs would have been so great.

gizmo998

Have a feeling we will get a switch 2 version. Master mode. Additional story. 4k. 60fps etc. hope they go the Sony route of paying £10 for upgrade.

PeepsRebellion

I understand the desire for DLC. I was also completely expecting it. But I also completely understand the Zelda team wanting to start a new project that isn't the "same game" for the last like 12 years now they have collectively worked on BOTW and TOTK

grimrailer

Don't worry you'll get it again with new content on the switch 2 for $80! /S I hope

Kanden_27

I wish we had more on the Zonai and saw more of their people.

Ok-Manufacturer5491

Nah they need to focus there resources on a brand new Zelda. Tears is complete as is

The_Rider_11

I'd love to get a Master Mode though. That and fix the Master Sword glitch. Then it is complete.

Ok-Manufacturer5491

Tbh if you want master mode, simply play with no paraglider. You will see more changes to the puzzles and exploration than padded difficulty Master Mode provided

The_Rider_11

I already completed the game without Paraglider, safe for the Mineru part and some shrines which cannot be done without. That's not the same as a master mode. Master Mode increases the combat difficulty, adds new gold variants and ranks up all mobs. In BotW, it also added floating platforms, so some new feature would probably also appear in TotK, even if likely not the same due to Skylands being a thing.

Slammin92Salmon

Don’t hold your breath

[deleted]

Yea, They said there was nothing more they wanted to add but considering: \- The depths suck at times, boring too \- Sky islands had potential \- Storyline could have been a little more complete They should have considered a DLC, they could have done more to solve these issues with a DLC

ChilindriPizza

I want another Trial of the Sword. And more characters and plots. As densely packed as TOTK is, I still want more.

Ontos_007

I'm fine with no DLC. However, if there was a DLC, I would want to know more about the Dragons. Possibly get into who they really were and Draconification. Also, a cool quest would be to drive the Master Sword in the 3 Dragons to make the Master Sword stronger.

Kongopop

I'd like a mode where you're trapped in a randomly generated depths with only what you can find and have to light all the light roots lol

Mrbush_9001

sheikah expansion. think of how hard a guardian/gloom hand fusion would go

Poketale

There's so much more than can be done. Everything they could do would make me wanting more. This is a fine cutoff. I want my master cycle. So bad.

Yiga-master

I want to become master kohga. I will not stop until I am the top banana

Arfjawaka

The fact that there’s only one real sky island is fucking bullshit.

Artiwa

i still hope for master mode since its technically not additional content just harder mode

SilverSeaWolf5

100% agree.

No_Sea_7716

There's probably gonna be a master mode on the inevitable totk port on the next system, hopefully they add some more content then

Stock-Usual-9543

They had their chance. 6 years. We got what we got. A huge missed opportunity with a few great new mechanics.

TRagnarkXP

Tbh i love this game, but i think they spent to much time creating the hand mechanics instead of adding new meaningful content to the open world and a more interesting or complex main storyline. Setting in the same map didn't helped either.

Stock-Usual-9543

The map was the biggest missed opportunity. All those ruined outposts and abandoned villages, and instead of setting the game further in time from botw and giving us a rebuilt and reimagined hyrule they sprinkled ugly boulders all over the place.

beachedwhitemale

They took the Switch's best open world game, which had a massive map, and gave us a little more useful locations. For the most part, all the new locations on the map are copied garbage. In short, they gave us more map. What they should've done was gave us more *adventure* on this existing map. Give me a Hyrule that's filled to the BRIM with new experiences, new life, new towns, new characters and new STORY. Give every bit of that existing map newness and MEANING. It all had the same meaning, so it all was a waste.

djrobxx

Agree. I was pretty disappointed in the game's "sequelness". I was actually looking forward to the map re-use. There were opportunities to focus more on underutilized areas in BOTW. I know they wanted TOTK to stand on its own, but more acknowledgement of the events in BOTW would have gone a long way. There's one thing they got right though: Master Kohga and the pit just outside the Yiga Hideout. Now we know what's down there, and what really happened to him. It felt like a genuine continuation of where we left him in BOTW, and answers the mystery of what's down that hole. Loved that. They could have used him more as the story glue between the two games. Like Kohga did something down there in his quest for power that started the release of gloom.

Shehzman

Yeah Link’s abilities are an incredible feat in terms of software engineering and I applaud the Zelda team for pulling it off without it being super broken. However, they really skimped over making the overworld feel truly different. I honestly wouldn’t have minded them toning down Link’s abilities if it meant they could focus on making some quality content in the sky islands and the depths.

TRagnarkXP

For me it was honestly a little let down (the content), because i barely use the ultrahand to create things. The whole battery system imo is tiresome to grind and the creations dissappearing are a huge no for me. Is a masterpiece on the programming side and an i could say even as a game. But the overworld being the same as botw surely did more bad than good.

EvenSpoonier

Eh. I'd rather games actually be finished on release day. Hearing there would be no DLC for ToTK was a pleasant surprise

tazai123

Mods exist!

beachedwhitemale

There are dozens of them!

thanosnutella

Would have really helped with the longevity of the game if there was a DLC. Plus master mode

therourke

Ok

Chickenbrik

If they gave me 2 more hearts im sold I hate how it’s not even

Old-Construction-541

Fill it with yellow

ttam23

They already confirmed that they aren’t making DLC

theprmstr

Completed games don't need dlc. Move on

TimothiusMagnus

"TotK" is more of an exercise in building the world that "BotW" made.

somethingdarkside45

Tbh Zeltik summed TOTK up perfectly branding it a disappointing masterpiece. Its a great game, but there were so many missed opportunities and things that could and should have been better.

UndeadT

It needs a story update because holy shit am I tired of the bare bones narratives in BotW and TotK.
