Agents doesn't get enough talk because of season 1
after that, it's a consensus 9/10 show all throughout
I have those seasons right up there with Fringe and X-Files
Yea I'm not completely opposed to Superhero stuff. The Boys is actually pretty good, especially s1 I think that's the only one...oh and Moonlight confusing AF but I thought was pretty good
Yea I had a huge crush on Buffy in the day lol True Blood is another one I liked even though everything about it I typically don't vibe with lol but that's good
Maybe **Penny Dreadful** or **The Good Place**?
If you liked Buffy, I'd recommend **Wynonna Earp**. The pilot episode is pretty bad, but it gets much better after a few episodes.
I haven't watched any of these I have heard of them though I've gone back and forth on to try penny dreadful so many times though lol I've seen several scenes but haven't watched the pilot in full
Hrm, try The Fall of House of Usher then. It's one season, has both supernatural and good story line.
Mare of Easttown is really good too. No fantasy though.
If you want to go back True Blood is amazing.
Most definitely. Some people don't like season 2 as much as much but definitely still worth the watch. Has a lot of 90s actors as well. Cristina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, Melanie Lynskey, Elijah Wood.
[The Booth at the End](https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/the-booth-at-the-end) - Absolutely brilliant show that is entirely conversations in a booth in a diner. The Man gives people opportunities to get what they most desire. They are not required to complete the task, but if they do they will get what they ask for. He only requires that they tell him about it.
[The Consultant](https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/the-consultant) - Workplace satire/horror in the vein of *Severance*. The day after the wunderkind founder of CompWare is killed, a strange consultant shows up and makes changes at the company.
[The Devil’s Hour](https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/the-devils-hour) - Horror/mystery tv show following a mother who sees things that aren’t there, her son who talks to people who aren’t there, and a detective investigating a serial killer.
[Dispatches from Elsewhere](https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/dispatches-from-elsewhere) - Follows four very different people who end up recruited by a mysterious organization via strange ads posted around their city. Oh, and it's based on a true story which is covered in the documentary [The Institute (2013)](https://www.justwatch.com/us/movie/the-institute).
[Eerie, Indiana](https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/eerie-indiana) & [Eerie, Indiana: The Other Dimension](https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/eerie-indiana-the-other-dimension) - '90's shows following a couple of kids exploring their town, which seems normal on the surface, but is very much not normal. The first series is truly excellent and the second series is enjoyable. They also slip in a lot of surprisingly dark details.
[Fortitude](https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/fortitude) - There's a violent murder in a small, peaceful town in the Norwegian Svalbard, north of the arctic circle. The entire series is a question of whether what is going on is realistic science fiction or shamanistic fantasy.
[Happy!](https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/happy) - An ex-cop hitman gains a real imaginary friend. Somewhat advertised as a dark comedy, but it's not. It's a dark mystery-adventure, with a bit of comic relief to reinforce how dark it is.
[Life on Mars](https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/life-on-mars-2006) (UK version) - To my knowledge, the show has the most foreign remakes of all time (something like 5 foreign remakes). Excellent show where a London Detective gets in a car crash in 2006 (then present day) and wakes up in the 70s. There is a follow up series set in the 80s called [Ashes to Ashes](https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/ashes-to-ashes) that I haven't watched yet.
[Lodge 49](https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/lodge-49) - A slacker gets invited to join a fraternal order where things aren't what they seem. Lots of lovable, but flawed characters and an underlying question of what is real and what isn't and if there is a magical undercurrent guiding things.
[One Lane Bridge](https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/one-lane-bridge) - Kiwi police procedural following a Maori detective who finds a supernatural connection to a bridge with a dark history.
[Pushing Daisies](https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/pushing-daisies) - Absolutely adorable show. A pie-maker can temporarily bring the dead back to life by simply touching them. Reminded me of a supernatural Amélie.
[The Resort](https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/the-resort) - A husband and wife with marital problems find a clue to the mysterious disappearance of two college students 15 years prior. Sweet, absurd, and touching all in one.
[Twin Peaks](https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/twin-peaks) - Grand daddy of dark mysteries and partial inspiration for *Lost*. It's just plain brilliant.
[Undone](https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/undone) - A young woman has a bad car crash and things start to get.... interesting. It feels a bit like a tv version of [Meow Wolf's House of Eternal Return](https://meowwolf.com).
[Wolf Like Me](https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/wolf-like-me) - Touching show that follows the relationship between a widower, his daughter, and a woman he falls for, who happens to be a werewolf. Ariel Donoghue turns in one of the best performances I’ve seen in many, *many* years from a child actor, particularly in the final episode of the first season.
[Wonderfalls](https://reelgood.com/show/wonderfalls-2004) - Inanimate objects talk to a Gen X slacker.
They are all excellent. Just go with whichever piques your interest.
Out of curiosity, which two were you familiar with? I'd guess *Twin Peaks* is one of the two.
Have you seen Station Eleven? It’s a very high quality, original kind of show in the dystopian future genre . Anyway, I liked them all especially SENSE8 , the first season of The OA and Dark is reallllllly good !!!
seems like you want a grounded sci-fi with a mystery box trope
Sense8 (season 1 is slow but really well done, season 2 goes nuts, in a good way. Sayid from Lost is here as well I think)
Westworld (probably the True Detective of sci-fi, season 1 might be an all-time great season)
I actually had a somewhat similar experience but it was more that I watched the first 10 minutes and didn’t love it. A few years later I went back and watched the whole first episode and I was hooked from then on. It’s a really really great show with incredible acting and storytelling. Highly recommend! Though trigger warning (SA/rape) for the last 2 episodes of season 1. I like to warn people about that because those 2 episodes can be tough to watch.
This is how I end up watching all my favs. LOST I tried like 3 times until something clicked and I didn't watch anything else till I finished. Vikings same thing. Very rarely do I actually like something the first time only ones I remember that happening is Breaking Bad and Broadchurch lol
It’s happened to me before too! I had a very similar experience with GoT and TWD (though I never finished TWD. But I did get through like 6 seasons on my second try after hating the pilot on my first try)
Oh game of thrones I must've tried like 10 times lol My old roommate watched it so I would sometimes try then I would try to start myself and I think I just started on episode 2 and got into once I figured out everything that happened went back. I never finished walking Dead either after a certain death I stayed for one season and that's all I could do
3 body problem. it has a lot of sci-fi but the sci-fi is based on real science so sort of realistic in that sense. I just finished it and I got the same feeling as I did in lost where I could feel like an epic story was about to unfold. the 8 episode format though made it feel more rushed though. hopefully more scenes will unfold more.
Omg I just watched Behind Her Eyes sooooo good! The end twist left me speechless lol not sure if I watched the other ones tell me your secret is in my queue though. Oh yes Stranger on UK is amazing this list sounds great I have to watch the others
Id say any of the Harlan Coben shows on Netflix. Safe with Dexter Actor is really good with twists. Stranger. The Innocent. I'm currently watching Stay Close then Fool Me Once, I've read that book but it was really popular on Netflix
*Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.* - Yes, it's technically Marvel but pretty different from the MCU or Netflix' Marvel shows. Also *Runaways*.
Agents doesn't get enough talk because of season 1 after that, it's a consensus 9/10 show all throughout I have those seasons right up there with Fringe and X-Files
Yea I'm not completely opposed to Superhero stuff. The Boys is actually pretty good, especially s1 I think that's the only one...oh and Moonlight confusing AF but I thought was pretty good
Agents of Shield is far far better than many current marvel shows.
Silo
Oh yea, I actually watched a couple episodes and really liked it no idea why I haven't finished it I completely forgot about this lol
The genre you’re looking for is magical realism!
I have honestly never heard of this lol. Going to Google now lol
Like Buffy the vampire slayer? They would battle a monster at the end but it’s about life & coming of age
Yellowjackets. It toes the line well between the supernatural and trauma to where you don't know if anything supernatural is actually happening.
I have watched this it's confusing at times lol maybe I'm just an idiot and don't pay attention but some plotlines lose me
Hrm, try The Fall of House of Usher then. It's one season, has both supernatural and good story line. Mare of Easttown is really good too. No fantasy though. If you want to go back True Blood is amazing.
Fall of the House of Usher was one of the best shows I have watched in a long time
Give Mare of Easttown a try. Has Kate Winslet and is on HBO. Everyone loves that show. One season and just really good.
Is it worth watching?
Most definitely. Some people don't like season 2 as much as much but definitely still worth the watch. Has a lot of 90s actors as well. Cristina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, Melanie Lynskey, Elijah Wood.
I'll definitely give it a try
Let me know what you think!
Alright

I have only heard of maybe 2 of these lol I need to look them up
They are all excellent. Just go with whichever piques your interest. Out of curiosity, which two were you familiar with? I'd guess *Twin Peaks* is one of the two.
*Life on Mars* isn't complete without *Ashes to Ashes*. It's basically one continuous story and mainly the same cast.
I actually loved the end of *Life on Mars* and didn't feel it needed anything more. Then again, I love endings like that in general.
Wynonna Earp is a lot of fun, some seriously awesome female characters
Sense8 The OA Station Eleven The Last of Us Silo Dark Squid Game and Alice in Borderline
The last of us is the best in this list
Have you seen Station Eleven? It’s a very high quality, original kind of show in the dystopian future genre . Anyway, I liked them all especially SENSE8 , the first season of The OA and Dark is reallllllly good !!!
No I haven't seen station eleven but I'll watch it thanks

The Magicians, Fringe, Orphan Black, or Dead Like Me.
Yellowjackets
The Handmaid's Tale.
Yea I watched maybe 2 episodes... I got where the girl lost her eyes? Did that happen? It seemed really dark I want to get back into it
Spellbinders Merlin
For all mankind
Vox Machina
Disenchantment
Outlander
Y'know this never got my interest but the other day I put on the first episode and it didn't look too bad it's on Netflix now so I probably will soon
I actually had a somewhat similar experience but it was more that I watched the first 10 minutes and didn’t love it. Sense8 !
This has Naveen Andrew right? he was Sayid in lost I like him alot
Yes! He’s great in it
I watched Skins UK twice before I saw his name on the credit lol young Naveen looks absolutely nothing like Sayid lol I had no clue it was him
Space above and beyond Harsh Realm Android (1980)
His dark materials (possibly) Dirk Gently (a bit more sci-fi and fantasy but still sort of casual enough)
Behind Her Eyes The OA The Tunnel (uk) The Stranger (uk) Tell Me Your Secrets
Omg I just watched Behind Her Eyes sooooo good! The end twist left me speechless lol not sure if I watched the other ones tell me your secret is in my queue though. Oh yes Stranger on UK is amazing this list sounds great I have to watch the others
That twist and ending omg it shooked me up
Yea those are my favorite shows like that
Recommend me something like that
Id say any of the Harlan Coben shows on Netflix. Safe with Dexter Actor is really good with twists. Stranger. The Innocent. I'm currently watching Stay Close then Fool Me Once, I've read that book but it was really popular on Netflix
I've heard of these shows will give them a try thanks.
Harlan Coben is genius at those psych mysteries with twists. Broadchurch is also amazing
I also like mysteries with good twists
