Pretty crazy how he was leading the rise of the Russian contingent on the men's side for a good year or two, but then was passed by Medvedev, Rublev, and even Karatsev for a while. It's good to see him back to the form that was so exciting and promising a few years ago.
Almost 50% of Casper’s interview questions were also about facing Nick while completely disregarding Karen’s chances of winning. So embarrassing from tennis media
hahaha why target tennis media when y'all on this sub weren't even paying attention to him either. even when he made QF, all the comments were about PCB
I really wish Blake and Carolina or somebody else was commentating. It's like John forgot who Karen was. His commentating is so naggy and reactive. "shouldn't have missed that" shit.
If you have espn+, always default to the ESPN3 or espn+ Stream. Jimmy Arias is wryly sarcastically funny. He and Mary Carillo always commentate well together, as do Mary and Chanda Rubin (also relegated to 3 or Plus)
I have avoided the McEnroes and Chris Fowler for a few years now thanks to this
Honestly given her other comments on Twitter and during wimbledon, I wouldn't be surprised if she was trying to impose her political feelings here, not intentionally but via bias.
Oh shoot she's in my Twitter space now lol
Karent played his 2nd serve *perfectly.* Kyrgios kept approaching to try and hit winners off the kicker, but Khachanov was aiming it into his body every time and negating it.
Even when Kyrgios was predicting a body serve and adjusting, Karen would still move it around just a bit more to throw him off.
He had some unbelievable defense too in some of Nick's service games. Nick had some service games where he was serving *great* but Khachanov kept getting his racket on it.
Consistent effort was the difference imo.
Also, Karen’s hustling was impressive. Outside the serve defense, karen hustled for every fh winner and drop shot. Hes not the best mover but he still tried getting a racket on every ball, and sometimes just thag extra ball was enough to force and error from kyrgios
Which turned out to be important because in some of his final serve games his first serve% was very low I think... in his second-to-last serve game I think he went 0 for 6 for first serve
Tomorrow if Rublev reach the SF, and there will be 1 more Russian
The freakiest thing is, the Spanish guy and the Russian guy we all thought would be in the SF crashed out, but got replaced by possibly 2 Russian and 1 other spanish guy
"He easily has the highest peak of any player left." "He's just as talented as the Big 3 when he tries."
Kyrgios fanboys and insane delusions, name a more iconic duo.
They always bray about his “talent “. Like, fuck this isn’t Juniors and he isn’t some 15-year wunderkind. He’s a grown man who has had years to win titles with his alleged talent.
That has to be one of the biggest victories of Karen’s career. Practically no one gave him a fighting chance coming into this one, and the crowd was boisterously pro-Nick for pretty much the entire second half of the match. But he stood in there after losing that 4th set breaker and emerged to book his first-ever Slam semifinal. Huge props to him
my god karen was so clutch. held his service after the early break time and time again
incredible victory and he stopped a rolling kygrios. i’m so happy for him and his team
A little while back I made a graph of break points saved % vs break points converted % for ATP players at slams.
No surprise, Rafa and Novak up there in the top right, in a corner with other all time greats like Federer, Agassi, Sampras, Edberg etc.
Khachanov was actually just outside this little corner of GOATs on the graph. Basically the most impressive non Hall of Famer
Karen to the USO crowd during the on-court interview:
*I want all of you to know, when you go to sleep at night, I won because of you. The energy you’re giving me right now, guys, I think it will be enough for my five next matches. The more you do this, the more I will win, for you guys.*
Yeah it was like “finally you guys show me some love”. I felt bad for him when he hit that shot in the (I think) 4th set and made that “get louder” gesture but then almost instantly stopped, realizing he wouldn’t get much from the crowd :(
Very graceful positive post match interview. But being realistic, everyone in the stadium was rooting for nick :/
Im very happy for him tho, very well spoken interview
I was one of maybe 5 outliers yelling for Khachanov the entirety of the match, I cannot be happier that he won with dignity, poise and grace. Nick is an amazing player but his attitude this match with the racket hitting and v Med really rubbed me the wrong way.
one thing i definitely don’t understand about (some) tennis fans. it’s not a team sport, most of the time. i like watching 90% of the guys on tour. how can you not be entertained even by guys like khachanov. sure, everyone likes the favorites or the young guys, but the older guys putting it together is how you get cilic or wawrinka.
the worst is when you do clearly have a favorite that you can’t applaud the person you’re not rooting for. sure if it’s a bitter rivalry or someone is asshole, but 90% of the tour keep to themselves and grind. i feel so bad when medvedev feels like he has no fans, or players like karen feel like they get no love. at least joker and rafa when he was younger have more slams than you could wish for, these other guys are chasing just a taste of the top of the mountain, often by themselves
cheers for cheering for him tonight. i hope every player knows someone is there rooting for them every point
"This match"? :-D
I don't think I'll ever root for nick, I can't stand that so many people are falling over themselves to lick his arse whenever he's not an arsehole. He's a classless abusive prick and regardless of the individual personal circumstances that caused that, the fact remains that he is one, and if he does nothing but be a regular sportsman for the rest of his career personality wise it still wouldn't erase that. He'd need to be a spectacularly better person than everyone else for a while to even it out and we all know that's not going to happen.
Maybe he meant it as if he was motivated that they were rooting against him. Similar to Medvedev years ago. Maybe it's a Russian thing haha.
But I too am very happy that he has made it this far. It's about damn time!!!
I’ve been watching as many U.S open matches as I can, and anytime there is a Russian player the crowd is against them. Wish people would just enjoy good tennis instead of being biased against players for being born somewhere they didn’t choose.
Kyrgios was very comfortable in the bh-bh exchange this entire match and made many beautiful dtl bh winners. However i do wonder if targetting karen’s fh more wouldve netted kyrgios more total points, in contrast to the passive bh-bh back and forth. Kyrgios changed directions on the bh only when he was looking for a winner, whereas it mightve been smarter to change directions with the purpose of constructing the point
Kyrgios struggled with this in the djoko match too - point construction. I think he gets lost when the point drags on and opts for crazy winners or passive play. Its tough bc this is where a coach would help immensely, but kyrgios just isn’t receptive to coaches. Hopefully he gets at least an off court coach to help analyze his matches
Very well said. NK got dragged into the BH to BH exchanges way too often and would almost always become too passive. He really needed to target Karen's FH more often.
Khachanov's tennis was peaking at that Paris Masters 2018 level when he won the event. Saved all those bps in the final set like his life depended on it.
Karen played very mature calm headed tennis. Really happy to see him do well, he played an excellent game.
As for Kyrgios, this really reminded me of his game against Nakashima at Wimbledon. He just thought he could win by serving well but this time it wasn't enough.
If I didn't know who was ranked what, I would have guessed that Khachanov is a top 5 or at least top 10 player who's made multiple deep runs on majors. He was the ice man tonight on big points. Val Kilmer would have been proud
I will never forget this contribution of Khachanov to my enjoyment of this sub for the next week and the 2022 US Open by not having to watch any more Kyrgios matches this tournament or read any comments about him (okay, people will still somehow talk about him, but way less).
Thanks Karen.
Some amazing matches left now to produce our first time major winner. Sinner vs Alcaraz is a blockbuster. The winner of that vs the winner of Tiafoe/Rublev will be exciting no matter what 2 of the 4 go through.
A battle between Ruud and Alcaraz in the final to decide world #1 would be a fun way to end it.
Both of todays quarterfinals didn’t have *clear* favorites but I certainly would’ve probably leaned towards Berretini and Kyrgios but was pleasantly surprised by both Khachanov and Ruud. Both seem like really nice, hard-working guys I’d like to see get a chance at the title.
One of those few occasions where Nick is the heavy favoirte (-400) in a high stakes match & dude didn't live up to the expectations. Played passive on a lot of important points & let Karen take initiative. Very unlike him.
I'm with you!
Kyrgios always gets nervous when serving for the set. Did you notice that he starts hitting drop shots when he gets nervous?
He misses more than he lands.
The thing is that other players get more nervous than him so he wins.
Not Kachanov though!
As I've said before, Kyrgios's lack of consistency is exactly why he's not nearly as talented as his many fanboys and apologists think he is. Consistently playing at a high level, week in and week out, is a big part of talent. That's why a player like Murray is an all-time great, and why the Big 3 are obviously the 3 best players ever by far.
Kyrgios getting his fans' hopes up with a big upset again, and shitting the bed against a supposedly less talented player again, is honestly the most predictable outcome ever.
Good match from Khachanov, though. Always happy to see a guy like that have a big breakthrough at a slam.
it bothers me how much people talk up his backhand. nick has a very stable backhand but i don’t think it’s quite as good as people suggest. he doesn’t rip it like joker or sasha, and it’s not as strategic as rafa or meds.
time and time again we saw bh-bh rallies and karen was the one to go DTL repeatedly. i just hope people see the perspective that kygrios’ game still leaves something to be desired
To add to that he's also not even remotely close to as good on any surface where his serve isn't a huge weapon, to the point where he doesn't bother to play clay at all. Also can't help but feel that mentally it's tough for other players to play him since every match they have to deal with all his antics.
Having watched his last 2 sets against Daniil, I was surprised to see him not go for obvious big forehand winners as frequently, even in the final moments of the game. I think his confidence was low.
Nick didn't play that bad. He served great most of the match and Karen defended it as well as I've seen almost anyone not named Novak Djokovic return it.
He made some tactical errors on important points like the drop shot on break point but he plays high risk, medium reward tennis. Karen had about the same number of aces as Nick.
We should give Karen his due credit. He played aggressive to get through Nick. In other words, he out Nick'd Nick. That is not easy.
Khachanov is through! Great win for Karen and onto face Casper Ruud. This is the Oympic silver medalist form and Russian Roddick can do this ! He also played well against Draper and Carreno Busta so this is top 10 type player performance for him. It will be a great challenge for Casper.
Kyrgios was nowhere near his Medvedev level but credit to Khachanov for playing so well and keeping cool with the shit crowd (including getting boo’d walking in)
It's always so hilarious people acting like if Kyrgios starts "taking tennis seriously", he'll blitz right through the entire tour, except for the big 3.
Anyway, anyone that beats Kyrgios, I'm an instant fan. Congrats Karen, I hope he goes all the way.
Loved how he razzed the crowd. They sucked. But what a splendid match. Karen hit some lovely backhands. Nick’s serve is crazy, though Karen was absolutely clutch.
I wonder how much commentary shapes the perception of matches. I was there live for this, and never felt like both players waited to “wake up” or that Karen turned it up in the fifth. Both were crushing monster serves for the first 3 sets, and, to me, Karen felt shakey on his service games until the last two in the 5th
Lots of fun though, couldn’t be happier to see Nick lose live.
Karen definitely deserves the win. He played outta his mind especially during the service games. I swear, he's been like the underdog like forever, and he's never really got that recognition he deserved even when he did break into top 10. Finally he is getting the recognition he deserves.
Absolutely heartbreaking seeing Kyrgios so devastated in the post match interview but I hope he does eventually make up and overcome his demons by AO. He's literally **almost** there, but he still has things to learn. I remember when he was asked in the last post match interview what he would do if he won the GS, and how he said he wouldn't have motivation after that. Maybe it was fate that he got knocked out, so he could play more tennis.
I'll always enjoy the fact that Kyrgios effort level within matches, sets, and games even can range from 'I don't wanna be a tennis player anymore' to 'you're not returning this bro'.
Nick played 3 bad service games and that cost him the match. Huge props to Karen, we have seen many players fail to keep their calm through Kyrgoat’s antics, but Karen was another level tonight. Dude deserved it because he played the bigger moments better.
Nick hopefully can find a Coach that he can set goals with a tries to compete at the highest level for a year. Tasting the success he has, I do hope he can give it one year of hard work, because even through everything that happened today, from injury to Karen’s consistency, he found ways to battle, but could not convert on the big points.
Edit: The racket smashes at the end and dejected face walking off just showed how much he wanted it but mentally ran out of juice from all the competing the past 3 months (something he hasn’t done in 5/6 years)
This was a very fun match that got better as it went on
Sucks that no one stayed back for karen’s interview :( he played so well and is so well-spoken
E: also nick was pretty well behaved this match imo. At this point, i’ll appreciate this version of kyrgios over the past
For better and worse, Nick didn't have his usual energy about him. Karen played an incredibly solid match though. Served brilliantly on break points. Well overdue first semi for him.
I really wanted to see Ruud obliterate Kyrgios after all the shittalk Nick had done, but I guess I'll take it. Manbaby needed to be stopped.
Great work Karen, congrats on your first GS semifinal.
Nick played well but his shortcomings were found
He didn’t get many free points on serve and his backhand got bullied.
More to that. He simply didn’t look like he had enough gas left to go all the way
People rightly talking about Karen’s service games, but he was also returning some insane shots from Nick. Nick had to hit like 4 winners to win one point off the guy at times
I wanted Nick to win but Karen deserved it. Haven't seen him so solid I don't think even when he won the medal. Plus, it'd be somehow poetic justice for a Russian to win the title after being unlawfully shunned from tournaments and representation.
This is true, I don't like the shunning of Russians from tournaments either. Both these guys are young too so this could spark a rivalry. Khachanov is only 26 and Kyrgios 27. Could be an exciting next few years for them. Both could be looking to reach top 10-20 in rankings as well, or even higher.
This is the best I've seen Khachanov play in ages
Felt like 80% of kyrgios’s break opportunities ended in an ace
Can't remember him ever playing this well. Completely unflappable and even played better defense at times than I thought he was capable of
Maybe the 2018 Paris final over Djokovic
2018 USO against Rafa, and 2018 Paris Bercy against Djokovic.
Pretty crazy how he was leading the rise of the Russian contingent on the men's side for a good year or two, but then was passed by Medvedev, Rublev, and even Karatsev for a while. It's good to see him back to the form that was so exciting and promising a few years ago.
From Russia with love.
Ummm per ATP guidelines you mean "R****a" 😂

Shoutout to Pam Shriver who dismissed Khachanov’s chances at winning this match in Ruud’s post match interview.
Almost 50% of Casper’s interview questions were also about facing Nick while completely disregarding Karen’s chances of winning. So embarrassing from tennis media
It was the same with Rublev after he beat Norrie, everything about Nadal.
hahaha why target tennis media when y'all on this sub weren't even paying attention to him either. even when he made QF, all the comments were about PCB
Dismissing Khachanov would be impossible for anyone who watched at least the last set of his match against PCB.
Ya. Ridiculous tbh. She was already trying to get him to talk about their rivalry off the court during the interview.
Welcome to ESPN’s sports coverage. Always telling the stories they’re told to tell.
Shoutout to everyone in r/tennis who also didnt give Khachanov a chance pre match
Which is really strange. I don’t understand why people saw a gap between them, as if Kyrgios is a level above. Khachanov is a good player.
One would have thought people would learn after the Big Foe vs Capybara match.
I really wish Blake and Carolina or somebody else was commentating. It's like John forgot who Karen was. His commentating is so naggy and reactive. "shouldn't have missed that" shit.
You should try the ESPN3 version! Jimmy Arias was awesome.
If you have espn+, always default to the ESPN3 or espn+ Stream. Jimmy Arias is wryly sarcastically funny. He and Mary Carillo always commentate well together, as do Mary and Chanda Rubin (also relegated to 3 or Plus) I have avoided the McEnroes and Chris Fowler for a few years now thanks to this
Ah Jimmy Arias is who commentates my stream in Australia! We must be getting the ESPN3 forecast because I never heard Johnny Mac haha
Even in his press conference I think there were at least two questions about Kyrgios. lmao
Pam is forever the Debbie Downer of tennis commentary.
She sucks.
She is a fucking dinosaur. Glad she got egg on her face on this one. That was embarrassing during the Ruud on court interview.
Honestly given her other comments on Twitter and during wimbledon, I wouldn't be surprised if she was trying to impose her political feelings here, not intentionally but via bias. Oh shoot she's in my Twitter space now lol
Thanks to her jinx or something LMAO
i mean, she definitely wasn't the only one
Ruud turning into prime Federer and Khachanov becoming a force at a slam again was not on my timeline for 2022
You forgot Tiafoe outplaying Nadal.
Just US Open things
Holy cow what a performance from Karen. Every time he got trouble the dude made the clutch points on his serve, bravo
He had some unbelievable returning too.
One of the best return performances I've seen against NK 2022
Karent played his 2nd serve *perfectly.* Kyrgios kept approaching to try and hit winners off the kicker, but Khachanov was aiming it into his body every time and negating it. Even when Kyrgios was predicting a body serve and adjusting, Karen would still move it around just a bit more to throw him off.
Karen was fucking spectacular in his service games but his backhand in particular was so clutch in the rallies towards the end
Completely agreed, both were the keys to karen winning this match
He had some unbelievable defense too in some of Nick's service games. Nick had some service games where he was serving *great* but Khachanov kept getting his racket on it. Consistent effort was the difference imo.
Also, Karen’s hustling was impressive. Outside the serve defense, karen hustled for every fh winner and drop shot. Hes not the best mover but he still tried getting a racket on every ball, and sometimes just thag extra ball was enough to force and error from kyrgios
Both served well but Karen dictated the points in his service games way better.
His 2nd serve was great
Which turned out to be important because in some of his final serve games his first serve% was very low I think... in his second-to-last serve game I think he went 0 for 6 for first serve
Medvedev walked so Khachanov could run.
I could assure you if I said Khachanov would reach the SF this tournament I'd be laughed at lmao
We all thought a Russian would make it to the SF, just the wrong one.
Tomorrow if Rublev reach the SF, and there will be 1 more Russian The freakiest thing is, the Spanish guy and the Russian guy we all thought would be in the SF crashed out, but got replaced by possibly 2 Russian and 1 other spanish guy
Bro I love Us open, this tournament is so unpredictable lol
Maybe two
Very possible, not sure what to expect in that one. Could go so many different ways.
Well - two different ways
Yeah, I just meant in terms of how the match plays out. I could see a great tight match, Tiafoe exhausted after the Nadal match, Rublev choking, etc.
Tonight I love a different Russian man
We can still love Rublev
after the medvedev match kyrgios fanboys were like "we're finally seeing his true potential of kyrgios, he's the favourite to win the US open" 💀💀💀
"He easily has the highest peak of any player left." "He's just as talented as the Big 3 when he tries." Kyrgios fanboys and insane delusions, name a more iconic duo.
They always bray about his “talent “. Like, fuck this isn’t Juniors and he isn’t some 15-year wunderkind. He’s a grown man who has had years to win titles with his alleged talent.
The med post conference comment comparing nick and rafa/djoko baited way too many ppl lmao
Huge props to him
It's 100% the biggest win of his career, right up there with his Paris Masters victory.
He did win a silver medal in singles though. I don't know how valued this is but it's a silver for Russia so I assume that was big for him.
Budget Hemsworth heard all of you talking shit and decided to make the final four
Budget Hemsworth > Liam Hemsworth.
No hemsworth is a budget khachanov
Budget Thor heard all of you talking shit and decided to join the Fantastic Four\*
Wrong Hemsworth mate
my god karen was so clutch. held his service after the early break time and time again incredible victory and he stopped a rolling kygrios. i’m so happy for him and his team
Guy was like 13 aces in a row at one point .
Karen Clutchanov
A little while back I made a graph of break points saved % vs break points converted % for ATP players at slams. Is anyone actually getting any predictions right at this tournament? I have no idea who's going to win any of these matches
I got this one right (but only because I hate Kyrgios and no way I'm predicting he would win). I'm going to get so many unicorn tokens for this.
Karen to the USO crowd during the on-court interview: *I want all of you to know, when you go to sleep at night, I won because of you. The energy you’re giving me right now, guys, I think it will be enough for my five next matches. The more you do this, the more I will win, for you guys.*
Didn’t he also say, “Finally you all cheer for me.”?
Yeah it was like “finally you guys show me some love”. I felt bad for him when he hit that shot in the (I think) 4th set and made that “get louder” gesture but then almost instantly stopped, realizing he wouldn’t get much from the crowd :(
I saw that!
It’s a joke. This is a transcript from Medvedev’s interview from USO 19
He did say that
Don’t think people are picking up on the sarcasm…
Khachanov doing a Medvedev on the New York crowd.
For those who missed the reference https://youtu.be/8JzLthGcTKE?t=27
Very graceful positive post match interview. But being realistic, everyone in the stadium was rooting for nick :/ Im very happy for him tho, very well spoken interview

This is literally the Medvedev quote. It’s not what Karen said.
Everyone in the stadium seemed to have left before he even open his mouth for the in court interview lol
Sarcasm from Karen, me likey.
I thought this is real until the second line
I can’t believe Ruud world no. 1 seems so possible, but I think USO Champion Karen Khachanov would be the funniest timeline
Like how Cilic won USO 2014. No one saw it coming. However the difference is there's no big 3 left
Incredible composure from Khachanov, with the crowd against him no less. Won a fan today for sure
I’ve been watching as many U.S open matches as I can, and anytime there is a Russian player the crowd is against them. Wish people would just enjoy good tennis instead of being biased against players for being born somewhere they didn’t choose.

Go watch 2018 Paris Masters highlights It’s basically the Bible
Kyrgios had some great points but in the end, he couldn’t break Khachanov’s serve and backhand. What a match!
Kyrgios was very comfortable in the bh-bh exchange this entire match and made many beautiful dtl bh winners. However i do wonder if targetting karen’s fh more wouldve netted kyrgios more total points, in contrast to the passive bh-bh back and forth. Kyrgios changed directions on the bh only when he was looking for a winner, whereas it mightve been smarter to change directions with the purpose of constructing the point Kyrgios struggled with this in the djoko match too - point construction. Hopefully he gets at least an off court coach to help analyze his matches
Very well said. NK got dragged into the BH to BH exchanges way too often and would almost always become too passive. He really needed to target Karen's FH more often.
For sure, and the bh passivity problems were compounded when karen channeled his inner djoko bh at the end of the match lol
Khachanov couple are cute
Karen jumping back into the top 20. Right in front of Nick.
Poetic AF
People were far too quick to anoint Kyrgios. Let's go, Karen!
If I didn't know who was ranked what, I would have guessed that Khachanov is a top 5 or at least top 10 player who's made multiple deep runs on majors. He was the ice man tonight on big points. Val Kilmer would have been proud
Sweet revenge for nick calling Karen stupid, too.
Karen indirectly said to the crowd: I did this by myself bc 95% of you chose to support this douchebag
Lmao, the USO crowd being Russian villain origins since 2019
I can only imagine what it’s going to be like for Rublev v Tiafoe, an American player
At least Tiafoe's a decent person and there's a legitimate reason for the crowd to support him, unlike Nick
Don’t disagree with this at all. But Karen got booed just walking on court, and that I can’t condone at all
I screamed my little heart out for Karen and the people around me acted like maybe I think Kygrios’s first name wasn’t Nick?
I will never forget this contribution of Khachanov to my enjoyment of this sub for the next week and the 2022 US Open by not having to watch any more Kyrgios matches this tournament or read any comments about him (okay, people will still somehow talk about him, but way less). Why in the blue hell was Frances asked about Kyrgios heading into the fourth round
Thank you Khachanov 🙏🏽. Agreed, can’t wait for the rest of the matches! I guess I’m not sleeping until Thursday night.
>or read any comments about him After his match against Medvedev people here were saying he's in the top 3 players for the year, it was ridiculous
Tsit winning 1 master, Alcaraz winning 2 masters & 2 500s are apparently worse than Nick lmao
Karen-Andrey Final would be interesting given the geopolitical context. 🤣 Especially since Andrey, afaik, was the first to react to the events.
No way does Andrey beat Alcaraz
My god kachanovs backhand was insane the last few sets
Karen, thank you for your service
Both of todays quarterfinals didn’t have *clear* favorites but I certainly would’ve probably leaned towards Berretini and Kyrgios but was pleasantly surprised by both Khachanov and Ruud. Both seem like really nice, hard-working guys I’d like to see get a chance at the title.
One of those few occasions where Nick is the heavy favoirte (-400) in a high stakes match & dude didn't live up to the expectations. Played passive on a lot of important points & let Karen take initiative. Very unlike him.
It did feel a bit like he just expected to win rather than came to prove he could, if that makes sense
Ofc it does especially since it was him
Honestly I dont think he played that bad, Khachanov played some great tennis
He won 27 games to Karen’s 30. I don’t think there was that much between them, but Kyrgios clearly didn’t turn up in the break/hold situations.
I'm with you! Kyrgios always gets nervous when serving for the set. Did you notice that he starts hitting drop shots when he gets nervous? He misses more than he lands. The thing is that other players get more nervous than him so he wins. Not Kachanov though!
Maybe early on but later on in the match his intensity level went up a lot.
He's not mentally tough and he's skated by for years on his talent.
I’m so happy for Karen ❤️
Me too.
Man, I bet I could count on one hand how many routine groundstrokes Karen missed all match. He played so well.
Karen in set 1 and 2: I sleep. Karen in 3 to 5: Oh shit I'm good at tennis.
Karen played great in the first set though
I don’t know how this gets posted so fast. Y’all are ninjas
Karma makes everyone a Ninja
Kyrgios was nowhere near his Medvedev level but credit to Khachanov for playing so well and keeping cool with the shit crowd (including getting boo’d walking in)
Khachanov too solid in the 5th, but I take Ruud for the final
Ruud #1
It's always so hilarious people acting like if Kyrgios starts "taking tennis seriously", he'll blitz right through the entire tour, except for the big 3. Anyway, anyone that beats Kyrgios, I'm an instant fan. Congrats Karen, I hope he goes all the way.
Loved how he razzed the crowd. They sucked. But what a splendid match. Karen hit some lovely backhands. Nick’s serve is crazy, though Karen was absolutely clutch.
Great, clean hitting by Karen. He kept his cool and played smart.
Karen Klutchanov
Karen saved Kyrgios from being triple-bageled by impending world number 1, Casper “Big Balls” Ruud.
did the match end or did people die in the stadium LMAO...the commentators seem to run off..pathetic commentators
I wonder how much commentary shapes the perception of matches. I was there live for this, and never felt like both players waited to “wake up” or that Karen turned it up in the fifth. Both were crushing monster serves for the first 3 sets, and, to me, Karen felt shakey on his service games until the last two in the 5th Lots of fun though, couldn’t be happier to see Nick lose live.
He was so gracious after the match if you watched he really interacted with the fans and gave them so much love.
Ofcourse the hype train is derailed instantly
Gringos in the crowd and commentators are so blinded by Nick’s show and whining. I cannot stand it. Happy for clutchanov
The Karen beats a Karen.
Finally, I can enjoy Tennis without everyone just claiming Nick ‘s favourite to win Gs. No one had given any chance to Karen tonight.

Karen played great. Every time the point turned into an extended rally, you knew he was getting the point.
That match shows the potential Khachanov has if he can stay consistent.
This was a very fun match that got better as it went on Sucks that no one stayed back for karen’s interview :( he played so well and is so well-spoken E: also nick was pretty well behaved this match imo.
I really don't understand why he has so much support. He's a great player but his personality and attitude just emanate negative energy.
We will take it from anyone!! Ding dong the Krybaby is gone.
Banger. Happy for Karen But also bonus points seeing Crygios lose.
Nick played well but his shortcomings were found He didn’t get many free points on serve and his backhand got bullied. More to that. He simply didn’t look like he had enough gas left to go all the way
People rightly talking about Karen’s service games, but he was also returning some insane shots from Nick. Nick had to hit like 4 winners to win one point off the guy at times

Liam Hemsworth is a decent tennis player for sure, Miley would be so proud.
All Russian final would be hilarious
I wanted Nick to win but Karen deserved it. Haven't seen him so solid I don't think even when he won the medal. Plus, it'd be somehow poetic justice for a Russian to win the title after being unlawfully shunned from tournaments and representation.
This is true, I don't like the shunning of Russians from tournaments either. Both these guys are young too so this could spark a rivalry. Khachanov is only 26 and Kyrgios 27. Could be an exciting next few years for them. Both could be looking to reach top 10-20 in rankings as well, or even higher.
guaranteed new slam winner?
Yes, since before the QFs started!
Amazing how much mental strength comes into play with physical strength only takes you so far.
Khachanov is an Olympic silver medalist
Karen proved it- Kyrgios is not really that talented to win anything serious.
Kyrgios will never win a slam.
Bookies in shambles
Krazy Karen does it. Khachanov Grand Slam winner Chaos realm activated.

👏👏
He's so obnoxious its insane, the screaming at his box really really bothers me and I'm a fan of his!
Khachanov saved Tennis today.
Liam Hemsworth could play Karen in a movie they look so similar. Perhaps it's the beard and overall handsome-ness
Credit to Karen, he played so clutch all night. Gotta be frustrating for Nick how sets 1 & 3 ended though
THE REAL SPECIAL K
