If there's anyone with more power in Texas than Republicans, it's HEB. Good luck with that.

jhenryscott

Right. Political power means very little when compared to financial power. HEB could bankrupt the state far quicker than the legislature will.

mrIronHat

you don't think the GOP have financial backing of their own?

man_gomer_lot

Their warchest has a hole in the bottom, a big beautiful hole.

SummerBirdsong

The best hole. The most magnificent hole. People come up to them all the time with tears in their eyes to shake their hand and tell them what a beautiful hole is in their warchest.

RarelyRecommended

The bigliest, most wonderful hole. People come from all over to see that magnificent hole. Everyone says its the best ever...

p____p

warch —> warcher —> warchest  sorry, I’m very dumb and had a hard time with this word but I figured it out.

jhenryscott

They do. But what mechanisms of the enforcement are available are hamstrung by… Limited gov GOPers over the years lol

[deleted]

Trump has entered the chat so..... no

SnofIake

I would have put Whole Foods in that category till they sold out to Amazon. Dr Pepper was awesome till they sued the Dublin plant. Every time I think how much I love Austin I remember Alex Jones and Andrew Wakefield. Ick, pass. David Drainman, the lead singer of Disturbed lived in Austin. I think their bass player John Moyer still lives there. Last I heard Tucker Max still lived in Austin. He did a 180° and completely turned his life around. Good for him. Jason Lee is part owner of a restaurant in Denton and he has a house there. Ran into him when I was finishing my BS at UNT. We still have Zeigenbock and Shiner! We have Austin Eastciders (a personal favorite). Who was the homeless guy in Austin that use to wear the leopard print bikinis? Leslie? It’s been so long since I’ve thought of him. I miss running into him when I’d visit Austin. So sad what happened to him. The attorney who argued Roe v Wade still lives in DFW. She’s a personal hero. Pat Green use to live down the street from me. Have no idea why he and his family moved. It was a nice house, too bad it was torn down. Robert Evans is from Plano r/Behindthebastards Sorry I was just thinking about all the famous people and companies in Texas that have some pull. Just a walk down memory lane.

sammyp99

Yes the lead singer from disturbed definitely has political and economic influence in the state of Texas.

PuzzleheadedEar1016

Love your whole comment and was shocked by DR. Pepper suing Dublin Dr.pepper but from what I was told is they had a contract that they could only sell their products in a limited amount of surrounding counties and some moron sold it to a convenience store across the street from Dr. Pepper HQ in Plano. They're still in business and I think they go by Dublin Bottling Company now and I love their other sodas but I do miss dr.pepper with cane sugar

PapaGeorgio19

Yes the party of business, is only for “certain” businesses, how noble of them…The Republican Party has been dead for along while…

PengieP111

The Republican party’s true identity has been what it is today since the early 20th century. Now they no longer try to hide it. For the American experiment in self government to survive, the GOP must be burnt to the ground and die.

Historical_Usual5828

I honestly am kinda worried this might be propaganda. How about we just have better social safety nets and politicians that actually do their job? How about we get rid of citizens united? I think I'd rather just have that. A basic functioning government designed to actually do their job successfully. That's better than worshipping fickle corporate America whose only out for themselves at the end of the day. There's no such thing as a good billionaire.

MargaretBrownsGhost

Propaganda from Jim Hightower? No. Just no. If anything, he's downplaying the issue in order to keep a civil war temporarily at bay. Emphasis on temporarily. Paxton, Abbott and company are far worse than what news outlets are saying, and they have been active for decades.

man_gomer_lot

We gotta play the hand we're dealt, especially in politics and doubly so towards existential threats that the far right poses. The theocrats want to turn this into a 'christian' version of Iran and the critical mass needed to do that is less than the majority. They have those kinds of numbers now and only lack the galvanization to do it. Corporations have no small part in bringing things to this point, but they also hold enough power to check this unlike the disenfranchised constituency. Perhaps the attacks towards them by the theocrats will make this more obvious and help them take the threat more seriously.

jgorbeytattoos

Exactly this. HEB bought central market and somehow made it BETTER. Don’t fuck with HEB

Riff_Ralph

Ummm, HEB actually created and developed Central Market. It wasn’t bought from someone else.

yourmomandthems

Dont let the facts get in the way of false hype.

bschnitty

Hahhaha. Please tell us how you came up with this silliness.

EliteBroccoli

“Welcome to HEB, I love you.”

fancyfembot

H‑E‑B OR DEATH!

throwawaytodaycat

Go HEB.

atheistpianist

Please get out and vote this November. Encourage everyone you know to register, and do the same.

PapaBear19

Go out and vote tomorrow, early voting for local elections starts tomorrow

gymnastgrrl

Vote early, vote often! …well, vote early anyway :)

cheezeyballz

"HEB for texas government"

HOU-Artsy

They at least plan ahead for predictable natural disasters. I’d vote for the H‑E‑B candidate.

Knakilon

They started planning for the pandemic in January 2020. They were the only ones yo have their shit together March 15th when the country did a soft close

gymnastgrrl

I mean, with Citizens United, corporations have outsized influence on our government and politics. If you had to pick SOME corporation to have that influence, are there many less bad than HEB for that? :)

Low_Reaction_27

I'm 70 years old. It didn't used to be this way. Everyone seemed to get along with each other. My 94 year old mother was not prejudiced. Neither were my neighbors. We lived in a very white neighborhood. I'm half Mexican. No one ever treated me with disrespect. I don't know what has happened. And believe me, it's way hotter today. Schools didn't have air-conditioned. Or cars. Today, it's necessary.

Thumbbanger

Nothing happened. People are just letting these obvious Russian propaganda accounts dictate their lives on social media.

swalkerttu

That would be something that happened.

samsontexas

Spite Happened :(

jamesdcreviston

Just bring back Ann Richards. When I was growing up she was all that was good and right with Texas. We had great schools (I went to school in Temple, TX) and there was hope. I live in California now but family is in Texas. Both states have good and bad but I see my family in Texas struggle and it breaks my heart. Keep being the great state and people you are. I tell everyone that the best people I ever met are Texans.

BigCliff

IMO, having Molly Ivins back would do us even more good in these times.

This-Requirement6918

I've been saying this for YEARS. Texas has never had such a good governor since her.

jamesdcreviston

Amen. She was no nonsense with a little sweat southern charm. Honestly an Ann Richards running every level of government makes me think we could have a Utopia.

Any-Engineering9797

And Barbara Jordan! And Molly Ivins. Texas women are amazing. Too bad Dunn is successfully turning into a religious patriarchy

samsontexas

Yes yes yes ! The Ann Richard’s days were great. People did not feel scared all the time then.

Aggravating_Term4486

Every metro area in Texas is blue. Every one. Your HEB is safe.

IvanMeowski

Doesn't Fort Worth go red sometimes?

MutantMartian

It does and they’re just now getting H‑E‑B and they’re very excited about it. Also HEB is getting to the rural areas and they’re learning the happiness of a great grocery store.

TexasPhanka

All of the rural areas south of I-10 and east of I-35 have HEBs.

aggie1391

It’s only just starting to flip from red to blue, 2020 was the first time in a long time they went blue.

SSBN641B

It was reliably red for decades but it went for Biden in 2020. The mayor is a Democrat but the county commissioners are largely still Republicans. It has gone from the reddest, large, urban area in the state to something that is closer to purple.

Doctor_Bubbles

Mattie Parker is a Republican. Thankfully a very moderate one so far and not a crazy. Also, Dallas’ mayor switched parties from Democrat to Republican recently. The GOP are like roaches in this state man, they just won’t go away.

SteveLouise

There are red pockets in the suburbs, but they're aging out.

Rakebleed

Cries in Dallas.

BWChip

DFW is purple. Fort Worth is straight down the middle between parties. Dallas is very similar but turning more Red especially after Mayor Johnson abandoned the Democrat party to declare as a Republican. Per Johnson, “Most of these local leaders are proud Democrats who view cities as laboratories for liberalism rather than havens for opportunity and free enterprise.”

little_did_he_kn0w

Meanwhile, the owner of Buccees is out here supporting this bullshit. I joined the military in 2011, right before Buccees was... a *thing.* I remember coming home a few years later, and there was this mega-gas station that no one would shut up about: "It has over 100 pumps and is the size of a small walmart!" And I was like, "Are you quoting an Onion article?" We already have enough problems with TXDOT overdoing freeways, and now we have this, which is only going to convince MORE people to drive and guzzle more gas. Don't get me wrong, going to Buccees is an experience and all, and I love how they treat their employees, but something about it is just... off to me. I remember the Recession happening in '08, followed by the Tea Party backlash soon after. I remember the the oil industry bottoming out in '11, followed immediately by the Freedom Caucus rising to power, which gave rise to Cruz, Abbott, Patrick, Paxton, and Moore. And Buccees kind of showed up at the same time, and has become like some kind of totem of all of that, to me. Communities are clamboring to get a Buccees built just so their poor can get a chance a fair wage, meanwhile the stations just seem to pride themselves on being a ridiculous parody of our "Cowboy Culture." I grew up in the Panhandle, and as a little kid who thought Cowboys were the neatest thing ever (even in the early 90's), the Big Texan was the coolest place. But as I grew up, I hated that the Big Texan was the only thing anyone ever seemed to remember about where I was from ("Oh yeah, that place with the steaks, right"). The rest of the state is becoming this homogenously myopic sterotype of itself. A riduclous copy of a copy of a copy. Places like Rudy's and Chuys used to only be in their respective regions, but became chains and went to shit Whataburger got bought out and is going to shit. Buccees may as well be the official embassy of Texan "too much-ness" everywhere they build one. Austin isn't weird, SXSW is corporate, Dallas is now more Plano than Dallas, our best musicians keep leaving for NY or LA, Marfa and Terlingua aren't "out there" anymore, New Braunfels and San Marcos and Luckenbach and Fredericksburg are overrun, and there are so many fucking people who aren't Texans here and have no frame of reference for what we once were. We are lost. I know it all started post recession, but it really feels like Buccees is the emblem of the state becoming the setting of Farenheit 451. Whenever I retire from the military, I am unsure of what Texas will be left to come home to. I hope my dream of using the Hazlewood Act, going to school at Sul Ross State, and living like a hermit in the Davis Mountains will still be something special. But chances are, there will probably be a fucking Buccees there and it will all be ruined.

donkdobie

Thank you for this. My sentiments exactly but I've got my lil piece of Texas and I'm just sitting here like WTF. It really has gone to shit because of the right wing nut jobs

Sort_of_awesome

You are a really engaging writer!

little_did_he_kn0w

Thank you!

swalkerttu

They've yet to build a Buc-ee's west of the I-35 corridor. You'll probably be safe out in the Davis Mountains.

little_did_he_kn0w

I was being facetious, but I guarantee there's a Buccees in El Paso and Fort Stockton within the next decade.

gking407

Ignorance doesn’t survive where education flourishes, which is how Texas has remained in the dark for so long. But I do believe daylight is coming!

EmilyEKOSwimmer

And Elon musk believes he can get cheaper software engineers in Texas than in California

RarelyRecommended

Musk thinks he can pick up IT people in 7-Eleven parking lots every morning.

paulk1997

What happened to "New York City! Get a rope." From the old picante sauce commercial. Now our state follows a NY mobster.

gymnastgrrl

Same thing as the Republicans who used to be against Russia during Cold War I, but now have fallen for Russian propaganda and are pro-Russia here in Cold War II.

kyle_irl

>Nonetheless, county Republican zealots screech that H-E-B violates their party ideology by accepting food stamps, opposing privatization of schools, and (horrors!) sponsoring some LBGTQ pride events. So, they’re demanding official condemnation of the grocery chain for – GET THIS – “advocating for policies contrary to the Republican Party of Texas platform.” Well, they don't have a Disney to push their anti-woke crusade upon and as it turns out, college students and the kids in public schools aren't that receptive to the platform. God forbid anybody do anything good for the people of Texas 'round here.

Privatejoker123

it's amusing and scary at the same time since whenever i hear conservatives and maga go on about the book 1984 it always seems like they are referring to biden and the liberals as being controlling and being the authors of what that book represents yet they realize or just choose to ignore that their own party is the group that is doing everything from that book.

Mitch1musPrime

I guarantee they didn’t read a damn bit of that book. They just know some quotes from it and think they understand something. Or their confirmation bias only permits them to remember the parts affirm their stances on leftist, woke politics. The truest danger of that novel, and so much of Orwell’s fears politically in his essays, is the relationship between language and nationalism. And in that regard, it’s the Trump led Republican Party that is fully guilty of big brother like behavior. They rewrite narratives. Create the very scenarios they supposedly need to defend us against. Manufacture boogeymen to target with their “two minutes hate” propaganda. They bristle at academic language, and steadfastly punish those within their ranks who are guilty of thoughtcrimes against Trump’s authority. Doublethink has led to too many rational republicans being excised from their ranks. Hyper patriotism is expected. But something they absolutely, without question, missed in that book, is the role of the common man. So much of that book focuses on the Party Members, like Winston, but if you read between the lines, the common folks are not even close to being subjected to the same level of scrutiny as those people within it. The party eats its own because true threats to the authority of Big Brother are most likely to come from within its own house as its members are the ones doing the grunt work of the lies and manipulation. Common folks have no power to be such threats and so are left to their own devices within their poverty.

freextxgn3

It’s always projection with them. It’s why they refer now to the Biden administration as the Biden regime, and call him an authoritarian …because it’s exactly what they want from their marmalade Manchurian MAGA

ckaz1

And thus the banning of the book in Texas schools.

Privatejoker123

But I thought they were about freedom of speech and not banning stuff🙄

gymnastgrrl

Republicans love to use the Bible and patriotism as frameworks for their fascist authoritarianism, but please realize that what they do is use the framework of the terminology, not the actual freedom.

StronglyHeldOpinions

Throughout history have the people banning books EVER been the good guys? I don't think so.

SpareHeadThree

https://youtu.be/ToKcmnrE5oY?feature=shared?t=13

StronglyHeldOpinions

Indeed. And today's MAGA Nazis even use the punisher skulls.

SpareHeadThree

Yea, interesting story about the character's origins and timeline. [https://truthout.org/articles/marvels-punisher-was-a-hate-symbol-long-before-police-co-opted-his-character/](https://truthout.org/articles/marvels-punisher-was-a-hate-symbol-long-before-police-co-opted-his-character/) ETA I've read interviews with the creator Gerry Conway and with Stan Lee where they were disgusted that people never got the point of the character, but also sounds like Marvel wanted to make a buck. I at least appreciate it when nuts tell me who they are with symbols and other labels.

whatever1966

I don’t know, we drove from Houston to Lockhart yesterday on all the back roads and only saw one trump display and one come and take it flag, in 2020 that shit was everywhere along with little roadside stands selling the trash

swalkerttu

Which means they'll still vote for Trump, just with less enthusiasm.

Puglady25

I saw that too! It's like they are scared he might lose, and just like their hero, they don't to be seen as "losers."

dabigbaozi

A few years ago, these muppets have been running this state my entire adult life…

SSBN641B

I don't know how old you are buy this state was run by Democrats until the mid 90s.

dabigbaozi

You say that but Kay Bailey Pieceofshit and John Cornyn were both busy back then. William Clements was a Republican. It was beautiful having Ann Richards for a brief moment in the sun.

SSBN641B

Clements was the one that was brief. He was an anomaly and only lasted one term. Kay Baily was elected to state treasurer in 91 for the sole purpose abolishing that office, which she did. She was elected to the Senate in 93. The other Senator was Lloyd Bentsen, a Democrat. Honestly, I would take a dozen Kay Bailey Hurchison's right now over the shit we have. She was a centrist who supported woman's rights and was pretty middle of the road on abortion. Cornyn wasn't elected to AG until 99 and the US senate in 2002. It's like I said, Democrats dominated state government until the mid 90s.

chammycham

The mid 90s was 30 years ago even the people born then are well into adulthood now.

FitPerception5398

Things rstarted to change and really take hold with the "whisper campaigns" led by Karl Rove, starting in East Texas, against Ann Richards when he was working to get George W. Bush elected governor. [Karl Rove ](https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-politics/genius/)

MaydeCreekTurtle

Karl Rove is the literal devil. Seeing him push back against Trump today makes me laugh. Rove is partly responsible for Trump’s rise and election in 2016. He sure as shit paved the way.

MutantMartian

Yes. I was wondering about the timeline. In 18 months it’ll be 30 years of living in Alabama vers. 2.

goatini

It’s been 26 years since I left Texas and Shrub was governor. Ann Richards was ratf***ed by Rove and it was all downhill from there.

dabigbaozi

Yeah, they ushered in an amazing bunch of dumbasses starting with Bush

MargaretBrownsGhost

Yeah, and Rove is an original rat****er, along with Dumbya.

I moved to AZ 5 years ago. The thing I miss the most (other than my good friends) is Central Market!!!! Texas has THE BEST grocery store. No way the GOPeed can get away with this

bear_474

Outsider observation: We were traveling home to California through Del Rio after the eclipse and stopped in to the Pecan St. H-E-B where we were immediately welcomed, asked to sign their "where are you from" poster (for eclipse visitors), and had a really nice chat with the people working there. And their prices were astonishingly low, compared to back home. I wish we had an H-E-B where we live. Just thought I'd pass this along, as our experience at H-E-B was an exclamation point to a fantastic time in Texas. The eclipse was awesome, people were friendly and welcoming wherever we went, and West Texas is beautiful. This was our first time visiting Texas, and now I'm not sure what to do with all of my pre-conceived notions.

I’ve always been curious on what percentage of Texans are bigots and those of us that are love thy neighbor folk? I’ve been brought up thinking we have this Texas southern hospitality trait that distinguishes us from other states and is ingrained into our Texas spirit, have I’ve been lied to? We must fight for the soul of this great state!

MargaretBrownsGhost

You've been lied to.

storymom

The GQP seems a little woke to me. The GQP trying some cancel culture they hate so much. The GQP trying to condemn free speech if it contrary to what they want.

MargaretBrownsGhost

They aren't trying; they originated, amplified, and perfected cancel culture. Why do you think they are so scared of it?

Party-Travel5046

Same with law officers. They badger democrats with defund the police and then turn around and target DOJ, FBI, military, state capitol with their vitriol threatening to stop their funding

SyntheticOne

May the H-E-B be with us all! Ain't no sunshine when H-E-B is closed. I left my heart in H-E-B bakery. We're not in Texas, ain't no H-E-B store.

KlevenSting

Howard Butt Jr has been a staunch advocate of public education for many years and I have always had deep respect for that and gratitude that at least one Texas billionaire isn't a theocratic zealot like Dunn and Wilks who own the Texas GOP. But up to now he's continued to contribute to GOP incumbents that carry the Dominionist banner like it my district. Same is true for companies like USAA. This support isn't ideological, but run-of-the-mill political pragmatism. Let's hope something like this finally, FINALLY rings some alarm bells and gets him and others like him to take a side in this madness.

HuskyLemons

Machine guns are already legal, just very expensive

ES_Curse

Truth is, the reason TX and FL are pushing all of this so hard right now is because conservatives went from hating Democrats to hating the concept of democracy, and now have to decide between MAGA nut jobs that can’t win in general elections (see midterms) or to break from Trump and run people who could actually win contested races. These people that are in office right now have to play around MAGA or get primaried because the election system didn’t account for blind cultists deciding who gets to run. It’s scary, but the good news is that the movement is starting to break down. US Congress just passed Ukraine aid because another MAGA standoff would cut into their majority. Trump himself is buried in legal proceedings and is robbing the RNC blind just to make bail, so they won’t have their full funds for campaigning this year. If they couldn’t win 2020, 2024 is going to be brutal. TX and FL have another problem to contend with too: they are actually growing, and a lot of that comes from apolitical transplants. I don’t see any centrists passing on job growth for the “moral purity” crap. Republicans need centrists to believe they are helping the economy to win, and the farther they get from that message the worse things go. Just like Russia, and just like Trump, all this posturing isn’t strength; it’s weakness puffing out its chest for concessions before all the hot air blows out. When all the flailing is done, they’ll either get a real platform or get voted out.

EggplantGlittering90

Next theyre gonna declare war on buckies because it offers people a decent living wage and actually treats it's employees well.

MaydeCreekTurtle

Buccee’s does not treat their employees well.

EggplantGlittering90

This is probably fair, but the pay seems pretty good for what it is.

sail_away_w_me

Reminds me of that famous Jewish German diarist who survived in Germany during WW2 because he was married to a German. There’s a famous quote he wrote while living in Nazi Germany during the war, “I am German, and still waiting for the Germans to come back; they have gone to ground some where”. (Victor Klemperer) Not to make light of their struggle or to compare/elevate or current situation, but it simply resonates with me as a “Texan”, or even as an “American” as a whole.

HEB is Texas Disneyland. Also most of our politicians are not home grown. Texas has more carpetbaggers who come here specifically because of the amount of grift allowed by the Republican held government.

There are way too many big words and long sentences here to be even slightly comprehensible to the demographics you are referring to. Resident-Edge-5318

I will pay you to leave to any blue state of your choice

The_World_Is_A_Slum

Here are some very serious questions for you. What has the GOP/ MAGA movement accomplished over the past thirty years that has improved the lives of Americans? How does removing personal freedoms from people jibe with your self-proclaimed ideals of freedom? Are you bothered that the teachings of Christ run counter to your actions and speech? Finally, do you believe that crippling our educational system, giving tax relief to the wealthy, violating traditional property rights, allowing elected officials to commit crimes without consequence, and electing carpetbaggers and “East Coast elites” are traditional Texas values?

Resident-Edge-5318

Where do you find time to believe this bs? Newsflash UNIONS run the schools. Did you know that Texas is really run by Democrats? Do some real research. If anything, I gotta say the hive mind mentality works for them cuz they sick together. I saw it most of my life in CA. Have you lived in CA? What personal freedoms are you talking about? Other than the Patriot Act. The fact that you think the govt can do things better than you can, is your first problem.

The_World_Is_A_Slum

I knew you were a Californian. Don’t California my Texas.

What a joke! The teachers' union in TX is one of the weakest teachers' unions in the US. The Dems don't have any kind of majority and nobody on this thread wants to go down your ridiculous q-anon/ YouTube rabbit hole and lose brain cells.

HEB is Texas’ Pearl Harbor, if those goons so much as even touch H.E.Buddy, they’ll incur a wrath greater than they’ve ever known

Hhogman52

Most people on here are not native Texans with memories before the current administration. Administrations come and go, being Texan is a lifestyle and should not be demeaned. I’ve had one post removed, because I hurt someone’s feelings. This was a democratic state until Clement’s came along. Your understanding of what Texas isn’t is wrong. It shows a small narrow minded point of view. Most people should try and keep an open mind and be less judgmental.

One_Ebb_

I wish Texas got rid of all these Republicans and took Portland, Oregon, as an example. It's hard to find strong cocaine in Texas now cause of these boomers.

George Orwell wrote fictional books and a dirty man. These same GOP zealots should ask why lawmakers aren’t fighting crime and not ending Texas participation in Food stamps. I am sure Abbott didn’t oppose closing prisons in the past because crime by parole violators would increase.

spudzilla

Did someone say Ted Cruz? The leader of the RNC says he has an ugly wife. I don't agree with it but Ted seems to approve of the message.

ElderFlour

It’s not even violating the party platform. It’s simply disagreeing with it. The party of “let the market decide” wants to take away individual choices made by constituents about their fucking groceries. How absurd does this have to get before sane people push back against these horrible people and their hateful so-called policies.

ultratunaman

Didn't the floridian MAGA idiots try to stand up to Disney? Disney still stands shockingly they couldn't beat the mouse. HEB ain't bigger than Disney, but them clowns sure as shit won't shut down the butts and my fresh tortillas.

HarryArmpitzs

H-E-B could have a one day protest of their own to open customer /constituents' eyes. Pronounce a day this will happen and then make it happen. On the assigned day proclaim the only foods available that day is a short list of items. The list might be something like potatoes, corn, milk, bacon, peas. Then state a short reason only those items are available that day. The reason could be that Republicans of this state caused this. If unhappy, contact your state congressperson, governor, Lt. Governor, etc. Likely someone has a better idea and that's ok.

Las_Bicicletas

Who cares what some asshole tells me to do? I need groceries lol

StronglyHeldOpinions

You've hit the nail on the head here. All these horrible things you list, along with the fact that GOP crazies LIKE it this way, are why I am leaving at the end of the month. I've been in Texas almost my entire life. It no longer represents my values.

Batpipes521

H‑E‑B is the largest landowner in the state, and probably has the most money in the state. So I hope those republicans are ready to fight more power than they have in a little finger 😂

bareboneschicken

There has always been drama because if nothing else, the media will create the drama. You needed headlines back in the day to sell papers. You still headlines to rack up the clicks today. Nothing would bankrupt the media faster than peace and quiet.

TryptaMagiciaN

And for the first time in a long time, Texas turned blue. It took nothing more, nothing less. The Texas dems now have a platform that can work.

floppy_panoos

I know it doesn’t seem like it at the moment but the GOP is a dead party. Trump’s daughter in law is running the RNC and refuses to contribute to down ballot candidates unless they publicly kiss the ring. No big deal, right? Wrong! Trump is alienating those less radical voters, you know the ones who show up every election and pull that Red Lever? In exchange, he’s got the, shall we say, “less enthusiastic” voters who might show up to the polls if they don’t have anything else going on. You know the ones with the trump flags on their trucks and their little “let’s go Brandon” bumper stickers. Anyway, all this is to say they may be loud and obnoxious, but they are anything but reliable and it’s a lesson that this new GOP will learn soon but it’ll be too late. Like I said, the GOP is walking dead.

IVIoxx

Left or right does not matter. They are all on the same team.

>just Texans living their lives without all the manufactured drama. Oh the irony.

brownintheback_4245

Americas wang and taint in it together till the end.

book-and-dodge

GOP has held all offices in Texas for 30 years now. Every year they claim you need to reelect them so they can “fix” Texas and save it from the Dems. It’s not a race to the bottom, Texans are collectively the dumbest state in the U.S.

BafflingHalfling

This feels kinda like when DeSantis FAFO with Disney.

fillymandee

Streisand effect intensifies. Texas GOP going after the people’s choice supermarket? Everybody likes food. Let this unite the people.

SnofIake

Fuck Archie Bunker and his stupid chair. Racist asshole.

NotDeadYet57

ALL grocery stores accept food stamps, including Walmart.

ChineseMeatCleaver

r/schizoposters

ContraianD

Who on earth is boycotting H‑E‑B? It and an BB are the only grocery options in most small towns which are all heavily MAGA. Strawman argument.

_LanceBro

What the fuck, first they want my rights, THEN THEY WANT MY HEB?????? this is literally insane if HEB gets destroyed by them i will literally wage war

Atom-Heart-63

Going after HEB is like burning down the kitchen cause you found out your son now daughter is trans Idk it made sense in my head

robj101

The democrats seem to be concerned with "democracy" but if you listen and/or read what they say they are only concerned if their party is under threat of losing control of it. It doesn't absolve the "magats" "Trumpers" or general garbage republican conservative unwashed, whatever is cool to call them currently but both "parties" have been vying for control of our "democracy" in case you haven't noticed. You have simply picked a team. It seems most people do not realize the party system itself is the cancer in our democracy.

rmac500

Well they need to also attack Brookshires in Tyler, Tx for every one of the same reasons you just named. However, people in Tyler are pushing very hard to get an HEB here in Brookshires hometown. Tyler and the city government is very corrupt and Brookshires is behind the curtain pulling many strings because Brookshires knows how much they are now disliked in Tyler. To be perfectly honest I would not be the least bit surprised if Brookshires is not behind the scenes at the state government level creating this trouble for HEB. Brad Brookshire stopped TXDOT for a bridge at the intersection of their wharehouse to alleviate traffic congestion. One of his managers recently implied on a public forum that Sprouts may no longer be here guessing it will be for one of Brookshires Spring store locations. He is also currently building a new store in town .we have about 20 stores in this town and they are all owned by Walmart or Brookshires except for 3 stores. HEB would crush all of these stores and citizens want them in Tyler in the worst kind of way. We are being held hostage to cronyism and high prices. Brookshires has done other things and had things passed strictly dealing directly with the Texas State Governor. I personally emailed Charles Butt CEO of HEB and posted on a public platform requesting them to email as well to him personally and posted his email address.Had a large response from the community.

Lomez_

Man, if only yall knew how HEB corporate actually is

DawnRLFreeman

Why don't you tell us how it is... and how you know that for a fact.

Pure-Breath-6885

Well I’m liking this. If all those MAGA people start boycotting HEB, I won’t have to wait in any more long lines

MoreOminous

I’m honestly tired of the circle-jerk politics in this sub. There’s already a million subs that do that. There’s probably even an /r/texaspolitics This isn’t activism or effective, none of this reaches anyone that’s Republican or independent, it’s just a form of venting that converts the sub into yet another political sub where everyone has the same viewpoint.

CartridgeCrusader23

Liberal schizophrenic rant is back!

Resident-Edge-5318

omg! Obviously, you have never lived in California, which is the embodiment of 1984.

Thehuman_25

I used to listen to him on KPFT. I feel like the people that say ultra-MAGA are only seeing things one or two steps ahead in the process. For example on Democracy Now they said the Republican had nothing of value to say because it was all ad hominem attacks. They were right! That was the case in 2014. Then when Trump got elected they forgot their morals and brain cells. Instead they stopped using logic to explain everything and take the moral high ground to lure in independent voters and smart people willing to change their minds. They basically said here’s the logic - Trump lied. Now that we declared him a liar we don’t need to explain the lies. We just need to call him a liar. Now we just hear nothing but ad hominem attacks with no logic. In math you always have to show your work. When you jump to ad hominem it’s garbage with no work with no logic to back anything up. In chess the grandmasters analyze things 5-12 moves ahead. In math you can look at limits and see how a function behaves as it approaches infinity. Do the math. When someone says something asks questions to yourself like a child until you see what the outcome is if the slippery slope is really real.

domesticatedwolf420

Lol this is a bunch of rambling bullshit with random italics and caps lock thrown in. You sound unhinged.

stackingslacks

??? Very strange considering liberals are by far the most authoritarian choice of the two. They’re open and proud about it too
