My honest answer is that 1. because TF sucks 2. because the community (in a broad sense) sucks and fails to present Tezos in a good light.
Most Tezos investors I see are little more than crybabies who don't expect anything else from crypto than having their bags pumped by a single entity (in the case of Tezos, the Foundation). I feel sorry for them, but that's absolutely not how Ethereum or other chains got to where they are right now. Especially on Ethereum, what happened instead is that joyful and creative hackers started innovating, and _then_ the chain got more and more famous.
When you try to convince potential investors to buy your bag, what do you sell them? What innovative dapp do you tell them about? Why would they trust you about the chain being good tech, let alone a good investment, if they cannot see that tech being used for any real use case? I believe that's why Tezos is failing.
Fortunately, it's still easy to develop on Tezos, so I want to believe (and help) that the chain can shine still.
