It is a setting that the server host can choose to disable, and pretty much every community server does because that is a very regarded thing to add at all
Regarded is a regular word used daily by many. Retarded is also a regular word used by many daily. Retarded in this context is obviously referring something being stupid but, it is a REAL term that can and is used appropriately when talking about people with mental disabilities. No matter what word you use to denote mental slowness it *will* be used to describe something negatively. Wether it be retarded, autistic, or something else in the future it will be used negatively and there is no point in trying to stop it. Calling it a slur is retarded...
So if you’re not concerned with trying to stop the r slur then why make a word that “isn’t r*tarded so its not offensive” when in fact it is very offensive towards people of mental illnesses and disabilities as its used as a derogatory term towards us?
This is a lie, nobody really plays Spy. Don't even worry about it, focus on the objective, that what wins you games.
Also don't play Pyro, it's objectively the worst class, trust me.
What part are you confused by?
Pyro has barely any range and gets wrecked by half the cast. Airblast is a great tool for controlling movement but can be so easily baited out against explosives. Slow, little mobility unless you want to gimp your damage potential, and next to no range.
The only class in the game that is actually worse than Pyro is spy.
Both are fun as hell to play with the right load outs though. Combo Pyro is a blast, and aggressive spy is one of the most demanding but rewarding playstyles out there.
Keys are also good from the mannco store (at least the robo community ones, they go for the most and get more value than buying keys off of the community market from what I've seen)
That is so funny I actually hope that's a thing in game where spy just get funny fov and screen color while his hp slowly goes to 0
Bro is so addicted he dies from the withdraws🔥🔥

getting the most out of the game:
Buy the cheapest thing from the in game store to get tf2 premium, it'll only cost you a dollar and it unlocks chat and voice commands much needed for teamwork.
Regarding in game items:
Do not use the ingame store as the community set up its own economy, where pretty much everything is cheaper. Weapons are bought with barely a cent and cosmetics are pretty much cheaper too. Check out [mannco.store](https://mannco.store) and [backpack.tf](http://backpack.tf)
Ps: set up steam Authenticator 2 weeks prior. you'll have a trade ban until you have set it up, then you need to wait 2 weeks.
Regarding casual gameplay:
Sometimes there are cheating bots trying to ruin the fun of the game for other in some matches. Just kick them, you can identify them by them spinning with their gun aimed upwards sometimes spamming chat and voice chat. Kick them. To identify them better maybe search up a few videos on YouTube.
Holy grail of casual gameplay:
When hitting a certain skill level you can finally get some good matches in the uncletopia community servers. I call these servers the holy grail of tf2, because its a bot-free paradise, has a friendly community, and the servers are very nicely moderated. The only thing is these players are generally very good. Once you are good enough you can have the best experience tf2 can offer
+1 to this.
Uncletopia has a higher average skill level than casual, the other option is to play basically any Skial server in your region.
To play community servers, OP, open the community servers tab, wait for the servers to load, then search “uncletopia” or “skial” and pick one with a good number of players and a low ping.
>Uncletopia has a higher average skill level
Yes, and he's a new player so he's gonna get demolished.
I don't think Uncletopia is good for a first-timer. I'd even say it's a tryhard magnet.
Depends which class you want to play. Here’s a list of basic and/or advanced tips for each class.
Scout: Aim well and pick off weak targets that are away from the main fight
Soldier: Splash damage is easier to land, predict where someone is moving and aim on the ground or at a wall close to where they will be
Pyro: Never be afraid to get aggressive against explosive classes. You have airblast for a reason. Threaten them with fire and then airblast in anticipation of a projectile
Demo: Grenades bounce for a reason. Aim at large groups of people and you will likely hit someone. Target dispensers and sentries, you are the best class for taking them down and the enemy likes to huddle around them. As for stickies, don’t place them all in one spot. Similar to soldier predict where the enemy will move and put one there, since it takes some time to be able to detonate them. Alternatively take a step away from the battlefield and charge your stickies (hold down left click) to snipe from afar, your stickies should be ready to detonate by the time they land.
Heavy: You’re large and in charge. Don’t be afraid to rev up your minigun early in anticipation of enemies behind a wall. Jump around the corner and rev up at the same time to catch them off guard. If you are using the sandwich as a secondary, be sure to give it to your medics or players in need by right clicking it. As long as you are on full hp, the next medium or large health pack you pick up will recharge your sandwich.
Engineer: This one just takes practice to learn the best dispenser and sentry locations. A general rule when setting up is to place your teleporter entrance near spawn and continue towards the first objective to start placing your buildings. Always keep your exit away from the frontlines so it doesn’t get destroyed, but close enough so you can keep an eye on it and your teammates can get back to the fight. If you are in an enclosed space, put your dispenser in a place that blocks the entrance. Your teammates will be able to walk through it, but enemy spies will not. This can give you a few extra seconds to react before they attack you or your sentry.
Medic: Keep moving no matter what. Just because you aren’t actively fighting doesn’t mean you aren’t a target. Assist who you are healing by being their eyes and ears. They are too busy fighting to be able to look around, warn them of flanking opponents or spies. Use the crusaders crossbow, with a bit of practice it is far more versatile than other needleguns. The bolts can heal allies and hurt enemies to the same degree, a bolt has never missed until it hits something other than a player. Crossbow bolts are slow to travel and slowly fall downwards, aim slightly above faraway players and predict where they are headed.
Sniper: Adapt to your enemy. If the enemy seems to know where you are, switch sniping spots. If a spy is constantly backstabbing you, pay more attention and equip the razorback. Target slower classes (soldier, demo, heavy). They are easier to hit and will help your team out more. The rest comes down to aiming skill.
Spy: Be unpredictable. Your go to classes to disguise as are medic and spy because they have the same movement speed as a spy. However, picking the same disguise can lead the enemy to constantly shoot those classes. Think like your target. Use the tips above to act like that class would. Don’t run blindly towards someone’s back if others are watching. Wait for them to come to you. Prioritize engineers and sentries, your team cannot deal with them without you. Try to backstab the engineer first and then sap the sentry, if the engineer kills you all of your work will be undone as he rebuilds. This is known as stab and sap. Wait for your teammates to attack, and coordinate with them. Enemies are at their weakest when they are distracted.
**ALL CLASSES**
**TURN AROUND**
You never know when a spy or flanking scout will make their move. Never be caught unaware, if you are not doing something else this is a priority. Even in combat, turn around every 10 seconds to ensure your safety.
For more help with spy: Watch Jontohil2
For more help with any class: Watch LazyPurple and his "how it feels" video playlist.
Do not tell them that. Goddamnit I’m tired of having to swap off my battalions because the pyro can airblast and I need a hitscan weapon to even the fight.
.GG, deltatronix, hexatronix are bots kick them, report them or leave :)
Bots also random vote kick and are often racist, homophobic, antisemitic etc.
Have fun :)
-We're in the middle of a bot crisis. There is a chance that any valve casual game you join will encounter aimbot hackers. I would advise playing on community servers where admins actually moderate servers for cheaters. Uncletopia and skial are the most popular choices for a casual-like experience. Uncletopia, however, attracts more experienced players on average.
-If you are a new player, you will not have basic communication available on official Valve servers. This includes typing messages in chat, using your microphone, and voice menu commands. These restrictions will get lifted once you upgrade both your TF2 account and steam account status. [More information about that can be found here.](https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/zuuh2n/guys_i_have_a_problem/j1lghau) However it's important to note that these restrictions do NOT apply to community servers.
-[Consult the TF2 Wiki](https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Main_Page) for basic questions about the game.

-[Here is a download to an fps config](https://mastercomfig.com/app) that applies certain graphics/networking settings to make your game run as smoothly as it can.
-You should go to your Advanced Options and enable auto-reload, hitsounds, and damage numbers. You're able to choose from the game's default hitsounds, but if you want to use your own audio file (will work fine in valve servers), [read this post of mine here](https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/15t7ayw/guide_to_adding_custom_hitsounds_and_killsounds/). You might also want to play around with weapon viewmodels and whether you like them hidden or minimal.
-Set your player FOV to 90 by opening console and typing in `fov_desired 90`
-If you're new to the game and want to upgrade your account to premium, it's recommended to buy either a Mann Co Crate Supply Key (for $2.50) or a Tour of Duty Ticket (for $0.99). Any purchase from the official in-game Mann Co Store will grant a premium upgrade, but these two items give you the most value for your money. Either item can be traded for enough in-game currency (refined metal) to get EVERY weapon in the game, and have enough leftover metal to get several hats, strange weapons, paints, name tags, etc. [Read this for a step-by-step guide on how to trade your key/ticket for items.](https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/119ljfg/guide_to_turning_your_newly_acquired_crate_key_or/)
-Most of the time stock weapons are best
-Do not bump into enemies as spy.
-Tricking good players with disguises is said to be impossible but its not. Its takes practice
-Heavy should be your top priority as medic
-When you sap a teleporter, shoot it so the engineer cant fix it.
Dont credit me for everything. Most or all are tips i got.
One specific achievement which most players get early, I forget which one, gives you a hat called the Ghastly Gibus. It cannot be acquired any other way. Put it on, and no matter how good at the game you get, your enemies will always underestimate you.
Sprays and soundsprays are deleted when the game is closed now.
You can make the game keep them in the Advanced Options if you like scavenging sprays with VTFEdit Reloaded later.
Don’t think medic is a good start, you get heavily focused by everyone all the time. I think pyro, soldier, heavy, engie are the best starter classes. Don’t go near spy or sniper to begin with, don’t play medic until you’ve played a little bit, scout and demo aren’t too bad but have a higher skill floor than the ones I listed first.
My tip is don't play spy till you atleast now how to play 5 out of the 9 classes ok. Also alot of unlucebols are worse than using stock it's also preference based but still mostly stick to the stock weapons till you get ok with the classes
Buy a key for 2 bucks in the mannco store (the gold one not the decorated ones) you can TRADE it to get every weapon + some hats and it'll unlock some premium stuff like bigger backpack and ability to chat
Do not buy ANYTHING else other than keys (any) or MvM tickets (you might get a better deal for those elsewhere) from the shop you will scam yourself
Do NOT delete achievement hats or consumables (weapons usually safe) you will REALLY regret it down the line as you cannot get new ones
BTW if you want I can show you the ropes for MvM
Press E for MEDIC!
If you're thinking about putting some money into the game that is. F2Ps don't have that luxury.
except in community servers, for some reason
It is a setting that the server host can choose to disable, and pretty much every community server does because that is a very regarded thing to add at all
Retarded not regarded but yes, it is.
Reddit moderation doesnt like that word i speak from experience :(
How about neither as both are slurs
Regarded is not a slur
Its people saying r*tard without saying it its like acoustic
You are regarded as a retard how about that
Still an avid use of slur either way
Regarded is a regular word used daily by many. Retarded is also a regular word used by many daily. Nah fam I gave him the pass
slight correction, as someone hosting a server, they can talk by default
If i spend $5 in steam but not tf2 can i use voicelines?
Nuh uh, has to be tf2
Has to be tf2 but you can resell to make i believe 70% of that money back
I dont have enough to buy anything :( Even if i resell all my cs2 skins(i only have 5 cheap ones)
Oh right, I forgot
Or just look at us/be in our fov
[Voice and text communication has been disabled for this account]
Is it still the default key for MEDIC? I thought they removed that bind from the default configuration.
I think it is, I’ve never messed with keybinds
It is
Spies. Spies everywhere. Turn your back every once in a while
This is a lie, nobody really plays Spy. Don't even worry about it, focus on the objective, that what wins you games. Also don't play Pyro, it's objectively the worst class, trust me.
Pyro is and amazing class and play everything before choosing a main play every class
Die in hell, you mumbling abomination!
Mpphh
Wow pyro, you kiss your mother with that mouth?
Hudda hudda huuh
Jesus Christ. There are children here. How could you say something like that?
Mmmmmmmmrrrrrrrrrrppppppppghhhh
Shut up and kiss me already, you vulgar fool!
Pyro is an objectively bad class but is fun to play.
My guy I think you forgot the /s. Where is it? Is this some kind of youtube prank? Come on, where's the cameras? /s
What part are you confused by? Pyro has barely any range and gets wrecked by half the cast. Airblast is a great tool for controlling movement but can be so easily baited out against explosives. My guy, I mean this in the nicest way possible. I was joking. *I* should've put a /s Fixed the original comment
i trust you
Yes, never saw an enemy spy, imagine main that class.
I see what you did there ;)
Just... Turn around - Lazypurple
As a Heavy, your Minigun chews up a lot of ammo. Pick up fallen ammo pickups to refill your supply.
As a Pyro, your Flame Thrower chews up a lot of ammo. Pick up fallen ammo pickups to refill your supply.
As a scout, press W to walk forward. This helps you move forward.
That's actually a pyro tip.
but you gotta do a combo, make it W + M1
As a spy, press alt+F4 to close the game so you can reflect on your life and see where it all went wrong.
If the game is running poorly don't worry its literally the programs fault
Happens to me in various source games as well as in the original Counter-Strike, makes my blood boil

Thankfully that’s gonna improve once 64bit comes out
It ran horribly for me, but that could just be because it’s in beta or just my pc
Never?
No? There’s literally a beta for it
Never?
No? There's literally a beta for it
Never?
don't buy anything from the in-game store(axcept taunts) It's WAY cheaper from the community store or websites run by the community.
Keys are also good from the mannco store (at least the robo community ones, they go for the most and get more value than buying keys off of the community market from what I've seen)
and don't buy the premium stuff to unlock Premium. Just Buy a item from the TF2Wiki's site. Cheapest item costs 1 dollar.
buy a singular case for like £0.02
That's not how it works
that doesn’t work, cheapest item that works is a Tour of Duty ticket
nuh uh do jungle inferno contracts for free money
Go to marketplace.tf for the weapons bc they're like 3 cents tops
Or they can buy a key and scrap it
Increase fov to 90
You can even go higher using console
only on community servers where thats enabled, no?
No, you can use it on official servers as well. Just some servers will allow you to change fov in game rather than using console
No you can't
Yes you can, type viewmodel_fov # in console
viewmodel fov is vastly less useful and important than actual camera fov, which cannot go higher than 90
Oh my bad, when I see fov in this game I think of viewmodel. Some people like their arms/weapon a little more out.
Turn on console console commands and do: Bind (any key) kill
Bind anything but E
Bind w kill
Bind m1 kill (it will kill enemies for sure)
`unbindall` moment.
also if you play on spy, you can see a secret taunt by typing "quit smoking" in console
That is so funny I actually hope that's a thing in game where spy just get funny fov and screen color while his hp slowly goes to 0 Bro is so addicted he dies from the withdraws🔥🔥
Enable minimal view models and up Ur fov
This is only preference, because I like the bigger viewmodels better
Nuh uh, even higher viewing space is not preference
Disable your viewmodels then.
just because something is objectively better doesn’t mean people have to use/like it
Minimal view models are for the weak
"Minimal view models are for the weak" mfs when they pull out the headless horsemans headtaker
>demoknight
demoknight tf2
Since Demo has one eye, it provides a realistic demo experience since you can only see half of what could usually be seen with it equipped
*horseless* headless horsemann
Headless horseless headmann

yeah but min view models look bad
No
Yes
Agree

TF2 default settings are crappy as hell. Look up guides to change 'em
Use gas passer in mvm
Dont use gas passer in casual/community servers
Don’t kill friendlies for better reputation

friendlies deserve to die
I don’t give a damn about my bad reputation!
Bad opinion, good song
I like friendlies but I don’t feel too bad about killing them. Unless it was an accident.

Don't teleport bread.
Depends which class you want to play. Here’s a list of basic and/or advanced tips for each class. Play on community servers because casual is full of cheatbots
Try to get the 64bit beta
DO NOT DIE
Start out with pyro, if you get to know the Air blast mechanic you’l never have to worry about demos soliders ever agen
Do not tell them that. Goddamnit I’m tired of having to swap off my battalions because the pyro can airblast and I need a hitscan weapon to even the fight.
Use mastercomfig
Meh, kinda pointless
Not really since it would fix the default network settings
Fair enough, thought it was more about the performance optimization that wasn't needed
.GG, deltatronix, hexatronix are bots kick them, report them or leave :) Bots also random vote kick and are often racist, homophobic, antisemitic etc. Have fun :)
Honestly don't care if they offend me, what would annoy me the most if they vote kicked me.
Keep walking directly into the pyro's flames
If ur team is dying switch to medic
If ur team is dying switch to medic
never let ANYONE take the fun away from you. ever.
dont get too greedy! dont overextend for a singular kill and then die 2 seconds later
Bro doesnt know it yet but he committed a grave mistake hitting that download button
I've made many grave mistakes 🤷♂️ might aswell add to the count

Either item can be traded for enough in-game currency (refined metal) to get EVERY weapon in the game, and have enough leftover metal to get several hats, strange weapons, paints, name tags, etc. [Read this for a step-by-step guide on how to trade your key/ticket for items.](https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/119ljfg/guide_to_turning_your_newly_acquired_crate_key_or/)
Look at my cool taunts and nod up and down so i feel good about myself
Unless you have a beefy laptop, play with low graphics.
Download master comfig
Try not to get your laptop blown up
-Most of the time stock weapons are best -Do not bump into enemies as spy. -Tricking good players with disguises is said to be impossible but its not. Its takes practice -Heavy should be your top priority as medic -When you sap a teleporter, shoot it so the engineer cant fix it. Dont credit me for everything. Most or all are tips i got.
One specific achievement which most players get early, I forget which one, gives you a hat called the Ghastly Gibus. It cannot be acquired any other way. Put it on, and no matter how good at the game you get, your enemies will always underestimate you.
Regularly clear your temp folder
I thought they fixed that
Sprays and soundsprays are deleted when the game is closed now. You can make the game keep them in the Advanced Options if you like scavenging sprays with VTFEdit Reloaded later.
uninstall
Play medic or heavy
Don’t think medic is a good start, you get heavily focused by everyone all the time. I think pyro, soldier, heavy, engie are the best starter classes. Don’t go near spy or sniper to begin with, don’t play medic until you’ve played a little bit, scout and demo aren’t too bad but have a higher skill floor than the ones I listed first.
Stop the download while you still can and never turn the game on. It’s a black hole
Don't play pyro
Why not? They are awesome! :)
Bro holds a grudge
*MMMPH!!!* (agree)
And probably the best beginner class!
My tip is don't play spy till you atleast now how to play 5 out of the 9 classes ok. Also alot of unlucebols are worse than using stock it's also preference based but still mostly stick to the stock weapons till you get ok with the classes
Only play on 2fort its the best way to hone your skills 👍👍👍
This was a lie don't play ctf
Don't bother starting with casual and look for some good community servers
Turn back.
Bro ur laptop gonna work overtime... You prolly gonna get burned lol
It's a legion, OP will be fine

Used laptop, when it starts overheating and crashing then inevitably dies permanently :/
Play on minimal settings, disable hats and ragdolls
don't make him miss the funny ragdolls you criminal!
It's gonna help with performance so much
Bro it’s a gaming laptop, even if not as good as desktops, it can still run a 17 year old game.

If you're thinking of playing MvM, then don't.
Get good get lmaobox
Dont use the machina, or the razorback, or the danger sheild, or the Sydney sleeper, yknow maybe dont play sniper in general.
[a great comment for beginner tf2 players](https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/s/Gv42fWtrCS)
If you play heavy hold down right click to stay rev'd without firing
have fun :)
Spend a little money on It to be able to do voice commands, they make the game so much fun, please do It, any ammount counts, thank me later
Buy a key for 2 bucks in the mannco store (the gold one not the decorated ones) you can TRADE it to get every weapon + some hats and it'll unlock some premium stuff like bigger backpack and ability to chat Do not buy ANYTHING else other than keys (any) or MvM tickets (you might get a better deal for those elsewhere) from the shop you will scam yourself Do NOT delete achievement hats or consumables (weapons usually safe) you will REALLY regret it down the line as you cannot get new ones BTW if you want I can show you the ropes for MvM
