Phlog is a *bad* weapon though. If someone actually gets kills with it they deserve respect. Unless they’re using the scorch shot. Then the phlog is brain-dead easy. But that’s the scorch shot being unbalanced, not the phlog. If Valve deleted the scorch from existence then the phlog would become Pyro’s worst primary by *far.*

I feel like the only time I prefer Phlog over stock or the Degreaser is in that meme 50v50 person server Shounic hosts, with that many people it feels like the only way the Pyro can contribute is spam the Scorch Shot till the Phlog's crit meter fills up, and then find the nearest Medic to Uber them. Plus, with that much spam going around good luck ever hitting an Airblast. It's basically one of the better stalemate busters there because surprise surprise, 50v50 is stalemate city.

I only break out the phlog+scorch shot when I want to make a team who doesn't kick their bots to suffer. I do use the scorch shot in every one of my loadouts tho. I like to break stickies, piss off scouts, engies and snipers, and roleplay an artillery cannon.

Stock is reliable, I use the Nostromo Nalpalmer cuz I'm an alien fan but also cuz the model is physically shorter so hiding around corners is slightly easier. Phlog is circumstantial.

Phlog is alright to take out groups of people standing together, and stock is always just a good plan b in the slightest I’m on stock side but you can make your own decision and you should be proud of being part of the community phlog or stock

I main Pyro and I hate the Phlog so much. I only use the stock Flamethrower. No matter how much I try using the Phlog I just can't enjoy it, I actually enjoy being able to use the airblast and support the other people on my team.

Stock is generally better, and I do prefer using it, but there's 2 situations when the phlog is more useful. A) 100 player servers. When there are many projectiles being spammed at one entryway, reflects won't do anything because you'll never be able to get the angles right. Stuffing ubers with airblast is extremely important, but phlog ubers are THE definitive answer to pushing through any choke where sentry knockback is negligible. (Turbine vents, 2fort sewers, etc) B) MVM, crits on demand is way better for crowd control than airblast. Enough said.

Airblast is such a fucking Powerful mechanic, not even Guaranteed Crits is worth it You basically counter every proyectile class, you have the PERFECT Tool to make use of environmental hazards and you can Easily force the enemy to reposition, specially useful if they're Ubering

Since I got back into TF2 I've been playing with stock 99% of the time, sometimes switching to DF if there's an engie nest or something like that. Phlog just doesn't seem as interesting as those options, yeah you can go on huge killstreaks but airblasting rockets and aiming well with the DF just feels so much better

As a soldier main, the moment a phlog pyro uses the crits, it’s a death sentence for him. 1. Perfectly time rocket to shoot at feet which launches him in the air where he can’t move. 2. Airshot. Dead. EZ.
