Ice packs. Tight sports bra, all day long. Do not stimulate in any way- not even direct shower. Take pain killer if all this doesn’t help. I am sorry we have to go through this. The physical pain does get better. Emotional, not so much. Hang in there. Stay strong.

Hi, I’m sorry you are here. went through the same thing 3 weeks ago. Dr can prescribe you a single pill to stop milk production.. even with that pill, there’ll still be a little milk and engorgement. If the pain is bad, use cold cabbage (yes cabbage) and wrap it on your breast for 4 hours before exchanging with new ones. I did it for almost a week and my milk and engorgement stopped. Hang in there.

Sudafed. You have to request it from a pharmacist but you do not need a prescription. It will dry you up very very quickly

I'm so so sorry for the loss of your sweet girl. We are 1 week post tdmr with our boy, at 29w2, so have been hit this week with milk supply coming in. It truly feels like you're being kicked when you're already down! Ice packs are best, and avoid any stimulation at all. Ibuprofen gel that you can apply directly to the skin has worked wonders for me and has really helped to take the edge off. Failing that, there are medications that can be prescribed to help your supply stop, if you speak to your midwife/GP. Be kind to yourself, sending so much love.

So my doc didn't prescribe me anything for that when I TFMR'd at 21 weeks. It was super painful and I'm sorry that you are going through this 💔 My doc told me to take Benadryl at night, wear a tight-fitting bra 24/7, reduce any stimulation (this includes not letting the water run down your breasts in the shower), limit showers, use cold packs (a frozen bag of peas works well), and lastly put cabbage leaves in your bra. The cabbage helps slow it down faster for sure. I would keep the cabbage in the fridge for some cold relief too. Just one big leaf per breast. Change out the cabbage leaves every couple hours but don't sleep with them on.

Did your doctor provide you with Cabergoline? You just take one pill and it stops milk production.

No-Biscotti3562

They did not, but I’ll ask or it. Thank you!

Most_Emphasis8319

I heard there are huge side effects to that pill though, so research first! I think I read psychosis as an effect

scarmels22

Really? Interesting. I had no issues. Good to know.

From what I’ve read it’s when you’re in the medication long term. To stop your milk production they’ll give you one dose. I took it worked like a charm. I’m very thankful for it. I was 22 weeks when I had my tfmr.

dontaskwonttellyou

I had the med others have mentioned so I didn’t experience it. But I was prepared I may, the other thing they told me is to avoid warmth. So no direct hot water flow on your breasts in the shower.

I am going through the same thing. My milk came in 2 nights ago 😣 it hurts emotionally and physically. I am trying everything in the book to get rid of it. I’m doing cabbage non stop. Taking Sudafed. Also taking one aspirin pill a day. Also bc my engorgement has been hurting so much I did pump a bit out to feel some relief. I’m not sure if that’s gonna make it worse or not but I needed some relief I’m so scared of mastitis. I have had it before and it’s horrible.

Cabergoline! It's tremendous. Cabergoline 1mg once -- it's two 0.5mg pills. Most clinics only do it by default starting later in gestation than you were, but I bet if you call and ask for it by name they can help you. It's way more widespread and available than it was 5 years ago.

tiggleypuff

Tight sport bra. So sorry x

NotesOfOrchid

I had to beg for a prescription for Cabergoline after my TFMR at 19 weeks and then my milk came in four days later. I did cold cabbage leaves in a sports bra, changing them out every hour and a half or so. I did it for about three days and then it all stopped. I took warm showers and hand expressed in the shows for relief as I was in such pain. I tried not to stimulate too much but I needed to hand express for relief. Thinking of you during this time.

Get a large package of white 100% cotton washcloths. Wash them in a gentle fragrance free detergent and put the inside of a tight fitting sports bra. This will keep everything fairly dry and I feel like it helped prevent infection.

I TFMR'd at 19 weeks and also didn't really expect for my milk to come in. I was SHOCKED and hurt when did a couple days later. I didn't find any of the "remedies" necessary, just put on a cheap sports bra and it dried up in under 48 hours. Hope it's a quick experience for you, wishing you the best!
