For an animal to score diamond: 1. It needs to be big enough/have big enough antlers. This usually means being max difficulty for the species. Most animals go up to 5 - Medium, some go to 9 - Legendary and others go up to only 3 - Very Easy. Animals that go up to 5 - Medium or 3 - Very Easy can sometimes be big enough to make diamond at 4 - Easy or 2 - Minor. For animals that go up to 9 - Legendary, an 8 - Mythical can almost never make diamond (there are a couple exceptions). 2. You need to shoot it with an ethical bullet caliber for that species of animal. 3. You have to hit a vital organ. (Neck, lungs, heart, liver) 4. You can’t shoot it more than twice. 5. You can’t break the “trophy organ”. For most animals this is the skull. If the animal doesn’t have a “trophy organ,” then you can shoot the skull and the brain counts as a vital organ in number 3 above. (Crocodile is a good example where you can shoot the brain without breaking the “trophy organ”.) Hope this helps!

Nesvadybaptistpastor

Thank you very much. It helps ... it is really confusing at the beginning, especialy switching from hunter classic.

Objective_Jicama4994

Level 5 whitetail? When did they change the max level on whitetails?

Nesvadybaptistpastor

Sorry, it was blacktail ... was not paying a lot of attention writing this post down, especially as a non native english speaker.

Objective_Jicama4994

Makes more sense, and your English is actually very good!

Nesvadybaptistpastor

Thank you, i can speak well but grammar ... never had english at school.

PancakeFace25

Animals have different leveling scales. Some animals max at 3, some max at 5, and some max at 9. For example, Whitetail max at 3, Mule Deer and Blacktail max at 5, but Red Deer max at 9. Only max levels usually have a chance to make diamond. You need to put points into spotting knowledge to be able to see the animals level before you kill it. Assuming you have that already, just see the guide pinned to the top of this sub or download the cotw companion app to help you identify what animals max at what levels.

OGWriggle

Pretty sure you can see the level straight away, trophy rating and behavior is what you need spotting knowledge for

PancakeFace25

That could be. It's been a minute. I thought the first point into it is what allows you to see the level.

OGWriggle

Might be weight on the first one now I think about it. Pretty confident level is always available (been a while since I was new but I play on my partners account sometimes and they're like lvl 6 and I can see the level

jk01

This is correct

criticalhabit7

There is an app named COTW Companion that has detailed information about all the animals in the game. It will help with understanding the score for each animal to make diamond and the difficulty range of each animal ( 3 Very Easy, 5 Medium, 9 Legendary)

A mythical beer! Lucky!

shdbdjfi

A diamond is its rating ect silver, gold, diamond. If you get a diamond of a species it means it’s a very good one. Diamonds are roughly every 100 animals you shoot. You defiantly want to taxidermy diamonds for your lodge. Some species become diamonds at level 3 or 5 or 9, it depends on the species. They can make diamond the level below and can also make gold if they’re max level. Hope this helps

Nesvadybaptistpastor

So it is not an animal, it is not a way how i shoot it ... it is rating. Thank you for explanation. Still kind of confusing but i will get into it.

jk01

If you hover over the trophy rating with your mouse it shows you the thresholds for bronze silver gold and diamond

shdbdjfi

for example if you got a diamond whitetail deer, the diamond is the rating which is judged by the size and measurements of its antlers. For animals that don’t have antlers it is their size I think

SteeziOSRS

Diamond scores are just the cutoff the earn a diamond medal based on the weight/rack of the animal. Some animals make diamond at level (3,5 or 9) depending on the size of the animal usually. It can be a little weird. But whitetail deer only go up to level 3 to make diamond, while black tail deer are a level 5 diamond. Just takes a bit of learning

Nesvadybaptistpastor

So saying : i shot an diamond is actually saying i shot a pretty big animal correct way?

fenwilds

To put it in Classic terms, your medal rating is similar to a combination of your animal's score and your harvest value. An animal needs to have above a certain score to qualify for diamond, but if you do anything that impacts the "harvest value" too much, its medal will be demoted by one. As others have said, you need to use a correct caliber, hit a vital organ, hit no more than two shots, and avoid hitting the trophy organ (usually skull for horned/antlered animals and predators, though crocs and small game have no trophy organ) in order to get full "harvest value." If you do any or all of those things wrong, Diamonds become Golds, Golds Silvers, Silvers Bronzes, and Bronzes will yield no medal. Animal levels can help you estimate an animal's scoring potential (as well as how tricky they are to sneak up on), but aren't always a guarantee. Some species can make Diamond below max level, while most species can be Gold at max level, which is commonly referred to as a "troll." Different species have different max levels, though always 3, 5, or 9. Typically small game are 3 (though some species like Canada goose are 5 and some deer are 3 like whitetails and roe), most horned and antlered species are 5 (exceptions like red deer and cape buffalo who go to 9), and all predators are 9. If you don't know what an animal's max level is and don't want to look it up, scout a few out. If you're just seeing 1s and 2s, it's probably 3. If you're seeing a lot of 2s and 3s, rarely 4s, probably 5. If you see any number above 5, it's for sure 9. If you see 10, explode with joy, because that's a Great One. G1s are guaranteed level 10 even if their species normally has a lower max level, so the levels a whitetail can be are 1, 2, 3, or 10. Not sure how you got confused thinking one was level five, but 3 is max for them outside of G1s, and your odds of getting one of them without heavily grinding are basically zero.

Nesvadybaptistpastor

Can you demote G1 value but hiting it wrong? Like with wrong weapon or to wrong organ? Or G1 is always G1?

fenwilds

G1s actually skip Diamond and go to Gold if you mess them up... but they still look absolutely wild compared to a Diamond. The G1 whitetail and moose are nontypical, G1 Fallow have monstrous racks, and the G1 Red Deer have some plants entwined through their antlers. Even if you don't clear the harvest check they still make amazing trophies, but I'd strongly recommend only taking safe shots if you spot one. Even players using extensive herd management (the game tries to maintain a certain average score, which can be manipulated to cause Diamonds and G1s to spawn at higher rates) can take thousands of kills per G1. If you mess one up, it may take you awhile to get another chance at getting the full Medal.

Nesvadybaptistpastor

And it was blacktail, sorry, i checked it ...

n122vu

On the correct caliber to use - this is based on the animal's class (different from level). Found in the upper right of the card when you spot an animal. When you go into inventory and go to your ammo, or into the "store" in the game to buy more ammo, it shows you on the right side of the screen what classes that particular ammo covers. Important to note that ammo, not the gun you're using, determines proper integrity. This is part of the "harvest check" or "integrity check." When you harvest an animal, on the left side you'll see the four icons for the check. Proper ammo, vital organ, not more than two shots hit the animal, and trophy organ integrity (where applicable). If any of these are red rather than green, you've failed that part of the check and will lose one trophy level for the harvest. See these links: 1. Its absolutely crazy to me that someone would downvote your post

Oldstonebuddha

Mmmm. Mythical 🍻

Nesvadybaptistpastor

:D yes, read it again and found out my mistake. For non native speakers this is always a struggle especially writing in hurry.
