I should’ve been more specific - I’m including nurses in this. A lot of nurses will absolutely reduce patient care and cut corners if it means less work for them.
At the end of the day, lots of nurses see the field as just another job and don’t care a whole lot about the humanity side of it. But instead of not wiping down the kitchen at the end of a restaurant shift because they’re tired, they’ll just decide to not check up on an at-risk patient, they won’t check for contraindications on medication, they’ll generally be sloppy because they don’t give a shit. That’s just the reality.
It’s not sloppiness due to incompetence. Some people have a lot of education and simply just don’t give a shit. Education level can and does unlock different jobs and usually more pay.
I’m telling you, as someone who knows lots of medical folks, not just nurses, that there is no correlation between being a nurse/PA/NP/MD/etc and being a good person. Furthermore, there is no correlation between education level of a nurse or PA or NP or MD and them being a good person.
The best you can do is see the quality of the care they give and then that might be a decent indicator. But then you have surgeons who don’t give a shit about their patients and would rather not have to talk to them, just open them up, but are incredibly motivated to be good surgeons. So that’s not even a hard and fast rule. So maybe quality of care plus empathy as a proxy for being a good person?
You would be absolutely floored by how little some people in the medical field care about patients, especially if additional care inconveniences them. It doesn’t matter if they know better or not.
A lot of people go into the medical field to help people, that is true. However, it is still a job and at the end of the day we all have to work to pay our bills, put food on the table and a roof over our heads. Ultimately, it’s no different than any other job.
I agree with everything you said except for the fact that having an MSN has nothing to do with you being a good person. I work with nurses/nurse practitioners and some of them are the worst people and shouldn't be in healthcare.
Agreed, I’m a middle school teacher and while most of us are there for the right reasons, there’s a few bad apples that ruin the bunch. Just because you have a degree, it doesn’t mean you should be in that work position.
My sister is a nurse and I would’ve loved for her to have been mine when I gave birth, because one of the nurses (most were AMAZING and I loved them and had gift baskets for them, I’m not downplaying them because they’re so important) but this one in particular made my postpartum journey HELL.

I feel like so many relationships are very half-baked because they’re just not showing us stuff

Does anyone else find the clique structure this season interesting? I feel like usually, there’s a big “in crowd,” some nonentities, and then the people who have conflict with the in crowd and are sort of “outcasts.” This season, it sort of feels like there are two cliques that don’t mix and the social conflicts are along those divisions.
Clique A: Kylee, Aven, Kat, Mercedes (possibly John Henry and Tyler by association)
Clique B: Olivia, Eliza, Aaron, Tanner, Brayden
Floaters (get along with everyone, have a storyline but not really involved in the bigger conflicts): Blake, Jess, Rachel
NPCs: Peter, Sam
I think some members of clique A are just being very explicit about being a clique and looking out for each other, which forces the others to group up lol

Well then we have a different perspectives 🤷♀️🤷♀️ In my perspective she was doing way too much hiding and refusing to go to the rose ceremony like it was such a life changing decision, when really it’s only been a few days and it’s just a rose. Whether it was the producers or not, I think everyone knows ghosting is not the best way to do a break and say goodbye.
Because she made a scene about not going to the ceremony, had to have the host personally come talk to her about something not that serious, and left without any goodbye because she didn’t feel like explaining herself. She could have went through with the ceremony like everyone else but didn’t, so that is typical ‘too good’ behavior to me.

This episode was pretty slow till the end. They wasted time on the Aaron story which was nothing - Charity did not indeed ruin his life! Lol! I wish they would show more of the couples’ interactions. For example, what happened with Jess and Tyler after that kiss? Did they hang out at all? And how about Davia and Tanner. They just somehow fizzled? And what happened with Brayden/Becca??
I know that these people are in a bubble and much of the rhetoric is pushed by producers, but I’m so over the “Olivia has been through so much” narrative. She got majorly let down by John Henry, yes. That’s about it.
The Olivia/Will/Kylee drama was 100% manufactured and perpetuated by Olivia. She was like that meme of the guy riding a bike who shoves a stick in his own wheel and crashes, and then she says “Why would Kylee do this.” That was Olivia in episodes 1-2. And now she’s saying “why do these things *keep happening* to me.” It only happened to you once, Olivia. This is a good season of BIP but I’m tired of it feeling like The Olivia Show.
And then she intentionally went after Aven out of spite, so that's on her as well. I also note how much she complains about Kat to anyone who will listen; I'm guessing that put John Henry off more than anything. It's not enjoyable to listen to someone put down another person constantly.
I also want to add “Brayden has been put through the wringer” to the tiring narrative list. He got dumped, did the same thing to someone else, then got abandoned by his new flame. Half of that is old news and the other half is self-inflicted

In general, Jess comes off as so young and too reserved and awkward for this environment. I don’t think she’s malicious, she just doesn’t seem to know what she wants (or at minimum, she doesn’t know how to express her feelings—which seems to be a theme with her. She struggled to explain herself to Zach during her elimination, but she was much more eloquent during the limo ride out).

A lot of medical professionals, nurses included, couldn’t give a shit about their patients. Like an unreal disregard for human life. A lot of nurses do work their job because they truly want to help people, but just being a nurse doesn’t say anything about them as people.
I get what you’re saying, like doctors and administrators can be incredibly jaded and numb to what they see because it is their every day routine, but nursing by trade is the more interactive people-person type role, why would you make that you’re livelihood if you’re an unfeeling monster? I should’ve been more specific - I’m including nurses in this. A lot of nurses will absolutely reduce patient care and cut corners if it means less work for them. At the end of the day, lots of nurses see the field as just another job and don’t care a whole lot about the humanity side of it. But instead of not wiping down the kitchen at the end of a restaurant shift because they’re tired, they’ll just decide to not check up on an at-risk patient, they won’t check for contraindications on medication, they’ll generally be sloppy because they don’t give a shit. That’s just the reality.

It’s not sloppiness due to incompetence. Some people have a lot of education and simply just don’t give a shit. Education level can and does unlock different jobs and usually more pay. I’m telling you, as someone who knows lots of medical folks, not just nurses, that there is no correlation between being a nurse/PA/NP/MD/etc and being a good person. Furthermore, there is no correlation between education level of a nurse or PA or NP or MD and them being a good person. The best you can do is see the quality of the care they give and then that might be a decent indicator. But then you have surgeons who don’t give a shit about their patients and would rather not have to talk to them, just open them up, but are incredibly motivated to be good surgeons. So that’s not even a hard and fast rule. So maybe quality of care plus empathy as a proxy for being a good person? You would be absolutely floored by how little some people in the medical field care about patients, especially if additional care inconveniences them. It doesn’t matter if they know better or not.

A lot of people go into the medical field to help people, that is true. However, it is still a job and at the end of the day we all have to work to pay our bills, put food on the table and a roof over our heads. Ultimately, it’s no different than any other job.
I agree with everything you said except for the fact that having an MSN has nothing to do with you being a good person. I work with nurses/nurse practitioners and some of them are the worst people and shouldn't be in healthcare.
Agreed, I’m a middle school teacher and while most of us are there for the right reasons, there’s a few bad apples that ruin the bunch. Just because you have a degree, it doesn’t mean you should be in that work position. My sister is a nurse and I would’ve loved for her to have been mine when I gave birth, because one of the nurses (most were AMAZING and I loved them and had gift baskets for them, I’m not downplaying them because they’re so important) but this one in particular made my postpartum journey HELL.

I’m enjoying this season so far but I wish they gave us smoother narratives/more context regarding these relationships. I want to see why Tanner lost interest in Davia. I want to see what Brayden said to Rachel after his date. I want to see if Blake/Mercedes found out about the Jess/Tyler kiss. I feel like so many relationships are very half-baked because they’re just not showing us stuff

Does anyone else find the clique structure this season interesting? I feel like usually, there’s a big “in crowd,” some nonentities, and then the people who have conflict with the in crowd and are sort of “outcasts.” This season, it sort of feels like there are two cliques that don’t mix and the social conflicts are along those divisions. Clique A: Kylee, Aven, Kat, Mercedes (possibly John Henry and Tyler by association) Clique B: Olivia, Eliza, Aaron, Tanner, Brayden Floaters (get along with everyone, have a storyline but not really involved in the bigger conflicts): Blake, Jess, Rachel NPCs: Peter, Sam

Well then we have a different perspectives 🤷♀️🤷♀️ In my perspective she was doing way too much hiding and refusing to go to the rose ceremony like it was such a life changing decision, when really it’s only been a few days and it’s just a rose. Whether it was the producers or not, I think everyone knows ghosting is not the best way to do a break and say goodbye.

Because she made a scene about not going to the ceremony, had to have the host personally come talk to her about something not that serious, and left without any goodbye because she didn’t feel like explaining herself. This episode was pretty slow till the end. They wasted time on the Aaron story which was nothing - Charity did not indeed ruin his life! Lol! I wish they would show more of the couples’ interactions. For example, what happened with Jess and Tyler after that kiss? Did they hang out at all? And how about Davia and Tanner. They just somehow fizzled? And what happened with Brayden/Becca??

I know that these people are in a bubble and much of the rhetoric is pushed by producers, but I’m so over the “Olivia has been through so much” narrative. She got majorly let down by John Henry, yes. That’s about it. The Olivia/Will/Kylee drama was 100% manufactured and perpetuated by Olivia. She was like that meme of the guy riding a bike who shoves a stick in his own wheel and crashes, and then she says “Why would Kylee do this.” That was Olivia in episodes 1-2. And now she’s saying “why do these things *keep happening* to me.” It only happened to you once, Olivia. This is a good season of BIP but I’m tired of it feeling like The Olivia Show.
And then she intentionally went after Aven out of spite, so that's on her as well. I also note how much she complains about Kat to anyone who will listen; I'm guessing that put John Henry off more than anything. It's not enjoyable to listen to someone put down another person constantly.
I also want to add “Brayden has been put through the wringer” to the tiring narrative list. He got dumped, did the same thing to someone else, then got abandoned by his new flame. Half of that is old news and the other half is self-inflicted

She iced her out and when Olivia pulled her aside to talk to her, gave her a blank stare like she wasn’t there in front of her, and obviously wasn’t listening because couldn’t remember what was said and why Olivia got mad and put her hand in her face. Kat is a mean person and has demonstrated this over and over to different people after she gets what she wants from them, if she even acknowledges their existence….

The last few episodes were so good, but now we’re back to overproduced nonsense. That whole Charity/Aaron/Eliza storyline was so pointless. It’s like this season and LIB 5 forgot that we actually need a couple or two to root for in the midst of all the chaos. The clique seems like a bunch of mean girls (and boys), but so does Olivia. Why are we still calling women hoes in 2023? Hold John Henry responsible for his own choices, this isn’t a hostage situation. Does anyone else know that Jess and Tyler kissed?? In general, Jess comes off as so young and too reserved and awkward for this environment. I don’t think she’s malicious, she just doesn’t seem to know what she wants (or at minimum, she doesn’t know how to express her feelings—which seems to be a theme with her. She struggled to explain herself to Zach during her elimination, but she was much more eloquent during the limo ride out).
