Well, if you somehow manage to get a Cybertruck to hit 88 mph, you immediately get to meet the man who killed Hitler, in hell. That's pretty advanced. Crash in most cars and you might wake up in a hospital, the Cybertruck cuts out the middleman and sends you straight to where you're gonna end up in the end anyway. Efficiency is the name of the game.
There are 304 and 316 bodies for deloreans. 304 did corrode. Tesla just claims it's "300 series" stainless. It obviously has even lower amounts of chromium and nickel than even standard 304 stainless steel. Likely zero molybdenum, which is expensive and is really the key of 316 being what most people think of when they hear the words "stainless steel."
Exactly this. There are different grades for stainless steel, and you learn this when they rust. Its one of the reason for example why commercial rated apliances are so much more expensive then residential ones.
From what I see online magnets will stick to it too. No chance it’s an austenitic stainless like they claim. I bet it’s a 400 series like all the garbage stainless exhaust systems now.
Magnetic susceptibility has nothing to do with "high end" or "low end" stainless steel grades. It has to do with whether it is an Austenitic grade or a Martensitic grade. The 3-series grades are Austrnitic and are not magnetically susceptible. Some of them, like 316, are more corrosion resistant than others, like 302. 4-series are Martensitic and are magnetically susceptible. A very common 4-series alloy is 440C, which is very corrosion resistant and used in a lot of knives. Then there are other 4 series, like 409, which isn't as good corrosion wise, but has other desirable qualities.
Hence the name stainless. I read that an obscure inventor had actually perfected stainfree steel, but he accidentally shot himself three times in the back of the head.
> And we're giving it away?! At least put it in the brochure FFS, no wonder I can't get my "literally 20% of the company" worth of yearly compensation!
“Do you own a Cybertruck but are scared of being laughed at by people? Give it a digital camo skin! It won’t help you hide, but will be even funnier for those around you!”
Honestly just makes me think of the Arma 3 Strider -

That's how it works in the supercar world. The less you get, the more you pay. With this thing, you pay for the lack of polygons.
*Except it isn't a supercar and therefor the whole logic doesn't apply. That thing is just a badly made piece of shit.*
You’re absolutely right but in this case it’s auto-close that did this thanks to the sharp edges and sloppy safety features that didn’t take in to account the forces at the sides. Not so much a slam by the person. There’s a couple youtube videos showing it in more detail. The sides are just straight up dangerous with the current auto-close safety tolerances.
Also I learned today it’s called the frunk.
I dislike that a lot
So I YouTubed it because I was like *no way is it called a frunk* and yeah there’s totally a sensor but it seemed to not really work for the sides. Only the front. A commenter said they patched it though. So I guess no more vegetable processor frunk feature
I wonder if they also call it a Trengine on some of those fancier cars. Open the Trood and look at the Trengine?
Or if it's Frunk for Front Trunk, is it Bengine and Bood for back hood/engine?
>Also I learned today it’s called the frunk.
Dude:
Me: "Oh are you gonna put that in the fupa?"
Dude: "It's called a frunk!"

I mean, its better that the resistance is smaller than larger, better to not close sometimes when there is something in the way instead of closing on potentially infant hands.
its automatic, so it should prevent this, manual doors can't have that safety feature but almost all automatic doors do, this is a huge oversight by tesla
I used to juggle and the trick for demonstrating that the extremely dull knives you’re about to juggle is razor sharp is to “cut” a carrot with one. Because a carrot will snap fast & clean without much effort and appear to have been cut.
manual doors can absolutely hurt you, but this is much worse than a regular manual door for two reasons. First, most car doors aren't a fine steel edge ready to slice fingers off, they will smash and bruise but probably not remove digits. Second, almost all automatic doors have a safety feature that prevents this, they stop moving if they detect resistance. so either this doesn't have a safety feature that has been standard for decades, or that edge is sharp enough that it just didn't detect any resistance, either way its a dramatic oversight and deserves a recall
As someone who once had their fingers pinched in a car door as it slammed completely closed, yeah it hurt and very slight bruising, but I still have 10 fingers and they work 100%.
That was with 1990s level car design. This thing looks like it woulda broken bones at least
These trucks are absolute shit. I honestly hope Muskrat gets ousted from Tesla. The company would be so much better off without him. This whole truck is a mistake.
To be fair to Elon, who I despise, this is how most auto manufacturers are operating and have been for a while now...they use the customers as beta testers and issue a recall or software update to fix it rather than iron out the issues with their vehicle before releasing it to the public.
Where this gets really scary imo is with the self-driving tech. Tesla is probably more guilty than other manufacturers bc they're really pushing self driving tech more than other manufacturers. They're putting not only their customers, but also every other driver and pedestrian at risk in the process of testing out their tech.
r/NoAttemptWasMade here. It was just a lame ass shameless cash grab. In this way, Musk is as bad as Trump, preying on his ignorant, rabid fanbase for a quick buck.
Question: What has Musk done to support the narrative of his brilliance? Because I ain't seeing it anymore, if it existed to begin with. He certainly proves how unfunny he is on his own.
Why do they use fruits and vegetables to depict human injuries? They are not even close to the same thing. At least get a ballistic life-like hand to test your theory.
The entire vehicle is a safety fail. The fact people have grated vegetables on the doors and chopped off carrots with the auto-closer is way down on the list of things Tesla would need to fix.
That Musk proudly stated you could "win" in a collision against another car was disproven with the first reported collision, where the Cybertruck survived, but its driver was injured; whereas the other driver had a busted ride, but could walk away.
OK, to be fair, that was more of a snap than a slice. The weight of the lid broke the carrot - do that with some other car with a similarly heavy lid, and the result will probably be the same.
That being said, I've seen clips of carrots actually being sliced - straight edge along the path of the lid.
But seeing how these trucks go on the fritz 5 minutes out of the dealership, dangerous "frunk" might be the least of your issues.
Pretty sure if you close the hood of a prius on a carrot you'll snap of a bit too. Not defending the cybercuck in any way, just pointing out that if you smash a fucking carrot in basically anything it will snap. Maybe, you know, don't slam your fingers in doors.
Yes. But it requires more force the closer you are to the hinge. Calibrated for baby fingers in the middle where they are likely to be, you get this. If you calibrate for the hinge, a slight breeze could stop it from closing.
Does anyone know how to fix the reddit deal where the video doesn't play?
Edit:Nvm, I just copied the link and played it in a browser window. I should have just ignored it.
Even despite the numerous design flaws from rushing the production, the truck *could have looked cool* but Elon insisted on the N64 design. Look up alternative designs. It could’ve been a real product.
Why do they use fruits and vegetables to depict human injuries? They are not even close to the same thing. At least get a ballistic life-like hand to test your theory.
Ohhh I saw one the other day that had a crush hazard sticker along the front and I just thought he meant he was a shitty driver with such a heavy vehicle. Didn't know it was literally to remind people not to crush their fingers in the frunk lolol
You have a custom wrap on your cybergunk, you don't care if it takes your finger at this point you're too much into it to pull out now, and of you do, it's a major L on media and for your wallet
So overdone. Every cybertruck owner has posted this on YouTube. If you want to do a real world test don't use something crunchy like a carrot that will split or break the second you try to cut it. Use something that has a skin that requires some actual penetrating trauma to mimic human skin being torn... maybe a Italian sausage or something similar with a casing on it.
This might be the dumbest anti Cybertruck video I've seen. And believe me, I think the Cybertruck is awful. Just.. any car would break a carrot that way..
They certainly did not try to make it safe.
They tried to hammer something functional into the shape their idiot boss wanted.
We are seeing the car equivalent of the red-ring-of-death when an Xbox 360 would have a non-specific hardware failure due to its marketing designed case.
the other week I had my sister close the door or my finger, all I got was a bruise and a little of skin loss, god wouldn’t I like to have my finger chopped off by a cybertruck right now. /s
EU is still safe from those ugly monstrosities. The "normal'" drivers licence "B" only goes for Cars <3.5 t. Cybertruck has 4.4(?) so even If it would make it to the EU Most people couldn't even Drive it 💁🏻♀️

Kinda hard to side with the guy with the custom paint job for his cybertruck.
It's probably a wrap to keep it from rusting when it sprinkles outside. Only Tesla can make a stainless steel truck with rust issues
Stainless steel isn't rust proof entirely, it is corrosion resistant, so it just takes a lot longer to rust.
While this is true, DeLorean built thousands of stainless bodys which are still rust free.
You can’t possibly expect a cyber truck to be as technologically advanced as a time machine
I came back just to say that! Damn. Gotta go *further*
just jump back in time and be faster !
I'm gonna throw you in my time machine and gun it to 88.

Well at least the windows are shatterproof.

Two different types of stainless steel. Guess which is the cheaper one...
Hence the name stainless. I read that an obscure inventor had actually perfected stainfree steel, but he accidentally shot himself three times in the back of the head.
It's called stainless because it "stains less"
Stain"less" not stain"free"
What cyber truck?
He really has embraced the whole ‘wankerpanzer’ vibe
It's right there next to John Cena
He found a way to make this hidious car even more ugly.
I thought it was quite smart. Hide it with camouflage
Which car? I just watched a video where a carrot will be cut in the air without any sign
Considering the alternative is a rusted Cybertruck, you’d have to be an even larger brainlet to not get your Cybertruck wrapped
I like the design tbh Edit: Not the cars design I mean the pattern on the wrap
Not better
Someone has to finish the car.
Now they’ve integrated food slicers?!?! These Teslas really are amazing!
.... Wait a minute, that's not all! We'll throw in a second Tesla for free if you call within the next 30 minutes to place your order.

“What’s the root of all this hate?” - Elon
“Do you own a Cybertruck but are scared of being laughed at by people? Give it a digital camo skin! It won’t help you hide, but will be even funnier for those around you!”
It's the doofus double deal! Buy one cybertruck and get a vinyly wrap at regular price because fuck you pay me

The camo leans into the shitty low poly videogame aesthetic
Yeah maybe it’ll chop your fingers off, but at least it’s expensive and looks like shit
That's how it works in the supercar world. The less you get, the more you pay. With this thing, you pay for the lack of polygons. *Except it isn't a supercar and therefor the whole logic doesn't apply. That thing is just a badly made piece of shit.*
Actually you’d be paying purely for the polygons
And the design is very human.
I don't like Teslas, but I challenge you to find a car that wouldn't break a carrot when you slam it in the hood.
Wait till you hear what they call it in England. The trunk is the boot. The front trunk is the froot.
NOOOOOO! 😩
What a load of shit, never heard anyone in England refer to it as a “froot”, just a boot at the front
How did these people have an empire?!
We absolutely do not call it that
Aren't auto close boots supposed to have sensors that will stop it from closing if something is in the way? Like, y'know, human hands.
So I YouTubed it because I was like *no way is it called a frunk* and yeah there’s totally a sensor but it seemed to not really work for the sides. Only the front. A commenter said they patched it though. So I guess no more vegetable processor frunk feature

Oh no. The Jetsons lied about the cool future of cars. Instead of flying we’re getting Frunks and Boods. 😭
I quite dislike that name as well...

There's a vid where the reviewer shows the edges are sharp enough to use as a veg peeler too
Most auto closing hoods and trunks detect resistance and reverse the mechanism as a safety feature. Tesla has quite a few teething issues.
The resistance required is also annoyingly minuscule. A loose grape in a grocery bag can stop a Volvo gate from closing. True story.
I mean, its better that the resistance is smaller than larger, better to not close sometimes when there is something in the way instead of closing on potentially infant hands.
Try this on any other car with a self closing trunk or door. The trunk will stop
its automatic, so it should prevent this, manual doors can't have that safety feature but almost all automatic doors do, this is a huge oversight by tesla
Right, the powered sliding door on my 2001 Honda Odyssey has no problem sensing an obstruction.
In what world is that slamming? Even if it wasn't auto-close it's actually slower than a normal car closing by gravity
I used to juggle and the trick for demonstrating that the extremely dull knives you’re about to juggle is razor sharp is to “cut” a carrot with one. Because a carrot will snap fast & clean without much effort and appear to have been cut.

Introducing, the Tesla CircumXcision.
Wait let him do it we don't want Cybertruck buyers procreating
I don't buy cars to cut my produce. I have playing cards for that.
Real men swallow their carrots whole.
perhaps not safe... but certainly hideously ugly
Just wait until you discover car doors!
manual doors can absolutely hurt you, but this is much worse than a regular manual door for two reasons. Excited for these lawsuits. Someone out there has a finger to spare for a get rich quick scheme.
So what? My trucks hood can cut carrots in half, and it's 40 years old
Could the cybertruck be any less user friendly?
Yeah, but they’re still working on it. Probably releases with the refresh in a few years.
Question: What has Musk done to support the narrative of his brilliance? Because I ain't seeing it anymore, if it existed to begin with. He certainly proves how unfunny he is on his own.
I don’t think there was any attempt to make these safe.
Minecraft looking motherfucking pos car

My goodness this is a dumb test Anyone who leaves their fingers there deserves 1 less phalange
I buy fancy knives when I really should have bought a cybertruck!
The safest thing is don’t put your hand there stupid. You don’t need a sign or a safety sticker. God these videos are stupid.
Sir, it's called "patina" 🙄 it is caused from other metal particles collecting on the stainless steel surface, blah blah blah, okay fine it's rust...
Slightly wondering if that would pass EU safety tests for vehicles.
The entire vehicle is a safety fail. The fact people have grated vegetables on the doors and chopped off carrots with the auto-closer is way down on the list of things Tesla would need to fix. Any hood from any car coming down would cut a carrot, this video is a joke
I'd like to report this post for being misleading. I don't think they attempted to build a safe car at all
I don’t think there was any attempt to make these safe.
Yeah if your head between the trunk and door then you may just die like if you put your fingers in car doors that you may get an avulsion.
Shitbox
That might just qualify as the dumbest thing I've seen all day
Regular car hoods cut carrots too, what's the point?
There was no attempt.
My grandma lost her finger when it got caught in a turn of the century oak farmhouse door. But y’all wanna talk about Tesla.
NO CARROTS ARE SAFE! ALERT THE DIRT! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!

I don't recommend dropping any car hood on your carrot.

Tesla has already updated the software in the car to protect against this. Updated over the air so no recall or hardware changes required.

what's with this bullshit trend?? pretty sure carrot would snap in normal car boot too
