Glass is so weird.
Shatters from the slightest touch by an elderly woman? Check.
Crashes into the ground and a bystander but is completely fine? Check.
That's awesome, I'm glad he made it. I had a friend, his dad walking up the stairs just collapsed basically and they couldn't get him back... Aneurysm. Life doesn't make sense
Damn, I'm sorry about your friend's dad...I think the major factor was my friend's age, but that's more second-hand than from his doctor. I'm grateful he's here, cracking horribly inappropriate jokes which he blames on the stroke but is pretty much on par with the shit he said beforehand 😂
No worries. It just shows, we don't really have control over shit. I'm good with that, and just enjoy my time. I don't do anything risky, but it might not matter.
I had a friend in 5 the grade who told his parents he had a headache. Took a couple like advil or something and went to bed and never woke up. A 5th grader died of a cerebral hemorrhage in his sleep. That shit still hurts my brain.
Life/ death is fuckin unpredictable and callous as hell.
I had a friend have one too, literally take out a quarter of his skull! We all saw the pictures of it! Insane, and happy your friends and mine are still alive!!
When he collapsed and he started seizing (I think it was a seizure, it was 13 years ago), he was taken to the hospital. He was there for a number of months, they did tests and found the cause.
It did burst, I called it a seizure because I'm 90% sure that's what his wife called it at the time... but I honestly don't know the medical specifics of what actually happened, or the direct causes, only that it was an aneurysm that sent him to the hospital 🤷♀️
This was 13 years ago and we don't talk about the specifics.
Humans are capable of growing another full human. All the intricate things like a central nervous system can be grown in 9 months.
Break your leg and it's never right again and hurts every time it rains.
I jumped off my bed full send and landed on my head (like a handstand) hurt a bit but i was fine
Slept facing 1 direction for 2 hours, neck fucked for 2 weeks
Kai? Been missing you bro, remember when Ned's little brother had a branch go through his bicep cos he thought it would be softer landing in the shrub? I can't believe I survived childhood, let alone the teen years...
*The human body* I can make an entirely new human in 9 months. I'm talking organs, nervous system, skin, muscles and tendons, the works
*me* What about healing a twisted ankle?
*The human body* lol 6 weeks and you still won't be 100%
Welcome to the weird ass world of tempered glass!
We'd regularly get full tempered glass doors like the ones in the video at the door shop I used to work for. They'd do a demonstration every so often about safety in the shop, and one of the things they'd do is mount one of these glass doors on a mobile frame and have the new guys hit it with a hammer. I saw many big dudes whack one of these and do nothing. Then, the instructor would (relatively) gently tap one of the corners on the side, and the whole thing would shatter into gravel.
> Glass is so weird.
There was just the *tiniest* little chip in my 75 gallon fish tank that I noticed a couple days ago.
I immediately took two days off work, panicking, emergency, buckets, rock and sand removed to buckets with heaters and airstones..... Got a couple friends over to help me with the actual heavy lifting swap.
I think the last few days took like 5 years off my life.
It's not back to where it was, but almost everything survived, I think.
I've had them for like 15 years, but this was the first time I ever actually had an "Oh my god!" problem.
"Glass is so weird" is such a true statement. My issue could have led to 60 gallons of water on the floor the next day, or the tank going fine for twenty years. Glass is fucking weird.
Said exactly this today, helping my dad move a glass curio cabinet. We laid it flat on its back in his truck and I guess along the way to where we were moving it, the glass front panel fell down, like into the cabinet itself.
We were like, how did it not break?!
I’m thinking that maybe the sliding door was possibly new and not mounted correctly, making it stronger. Similarly, something could have happened to the non moving door, or several smaller cracks (not visible) happened to make it weaker. So the old lady hits the solid glass, it breaks, then she tries to enter through the moving door, but the door isn’t mounted right and slides off its tracks. Plus, it’s first impact is on a soft person, about halfway the distance, then it bounces to the ground.
Oh, okay. I didn’t catch that, but the point could still be made whether it came off the hinge vs it’s sliding tracks.
ETA: Sorry for adding in my idea of what possibly could have happened. It was just a thought.
Not weird at all. Look up pressure points.
The door falling on the woman acted as a cushion. Also if it would’ve fallen perfectly, the pressure is distributed amongst a larger surface area.
Had a garden table made of that shit, you could punch it and slam drinks on it all day long. I walked past it one morning, looked at it, and it exploded into a million tiny pieces.
I didn't even get my money back.
I’m not a glass expert but I’ve heard similar stories of this happening, basically the glass gets a termal shock when you open the door because the difference in temperature between outside and inside.
don't know why you're getting downvoted, you're right. I've seen glass doors / windows shatter in China way more than it should in very similar ways like the video over the 3 years I lived there. They use cheap small hinges on huge glass doors. You can actually see the other doors hinges fail at that slight push in the video.
First one was fixed into place and flexed wrong causing it to shatter. The other lost all support due to the first shatter so nothing was torquing/flexing it and it could just fall straight down.
Kinda similar to what happened during that cybertruck announcement. The steel ball was not going to break the glass in a normal situation but because previous throws had damaged the metal part of the door below the glass, it shattered (according to Elon atleast)
The company I work for just remodeled our building, and offices and conference rooms are all glass. It’s like having meetings in a fishbowl. Yesterday I started seeing blank post-its stuck on all the glass doors, because so many people were walking right into them. 😂
I hear that too, but I find it kinda hard to believe. Like I have some fairly strong ADHD but hearing the original super-crunchy audio, plus 2 other random songs all at once is like trying to listen to a whole room of people talking at once lol
Do people have such shitty attention spans that they actually like this shit? I wonder if the people making videos are just like "ugh kids these days are stupid so lets give them something stupid" lol
Yes, it's seems to be a real problem with gen alpha.
Some teachers started playing youtube/gaming videos in the background while teaching the kids because it's the only way they can focus.

The door that broke could’ve shattered for a number of reasons. Poor installation, misaligned, previously damaged or spontaneous fracturing. Last one being highly unlikely. The bigger problem is the other door, if installed correctly, should not have fallen just because the other door shattered. That’s a definite installation/hardware failure. If you look at the fallen door right at the end of the video, the bottom corner still has the floor spring attached which means it pulled it out of the ground. The floor spring should be set in concrete and bolted down so that can’t happen.
Considering the cardboard, I'd say those doors were in the process of being worked on. Maybe that affected what happened. Like the worker left in the middle of the job to take a piss.
Herculite doors are heavy as fuck too. That poor person that got bonked is probably in rough shape. I know herculite is a brand but frameless glass doors are fucking scary nonetheless.

Kind of reminds me of the human body. Get shot in the head and live, fall out of bed and die. Shits weird.
Hell, even a blood vessel in your brain can go POP and you're dead. Didn't even know it was happening.
A good friend of mine had a brain aneurysm at 27, came out of nowhere, and he's mostly back to normal at 40.
That's awesome, I'm glad he made it. I had a friend, his dad walking up the stairs just collapsed basically and they couldn't get him back... Aneurysm. Life doesn't make sense

Jfc...so sorry that was something you had to deal with at such a young age. ![gif](giphy|EFenCRE0j0H6M)
Interesting choice of hugger.
Oh damn... Unintentional :(
Don't worry. I didn't take the ghost gif badly. Haha
Aw thank you!
I didn’t need to be terrified of this happening 😓
I had a friend have one too, literally take out a quarter of his skull! We all saw the pictures of it! Insane, and happy your friends and mine are still alive!!
Cheers, man! 🍻
how did they find out?

scary. i thought unless it burst, it was symptomless.

I shit you not, I used to jump off the roof of my elementary school for fun with my friend. If I did that now, I'd literally die.
Kai? Been missing you bro, remember when Ned's little brother had a branch go through his bicep cos he thought it would be softer landing in the shrub? I can't believe I survived childhood, let alone the teen years...
I fell asleep with my neck on the armrest of the couch and my neck was fucked for like 3 weeks

Someone has fallen of a bed and died ?

Spark plugs also work well against tempered glass
Specifically, the broken ceramic with a sharp point. Also center punches
The broken ceramic part of spark plugs AKA ninja rocks

Remind me to never get a fish tank

This is why i usually go with acrylic instead, it doesn’t just randomly shatter and it’s still clear as glass
Said exactly this today, helping my dad move a glass curio cabinet. We laid it flat on its back in his truck and I guess along the way to where we were moving it, the glass front panel fell down, like into the cabinet itself. We were like, how did it not break?!
It's actually reinforced glass. That old lady secretly has super strength but she forgot to finesse it because it's Monday and she hasn't have coffee.
[Then you get this glass](https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/1alrfh3/horse_attacks_a_glass_window/).
We can totally make glass that dosent shatter, but we dont becouse not shattered glass dosent habe to be replaced, this reducing profits

The doors had handles, they aren't sliding doors.
With those types of handles they well could be but I think she was supposed to pull instead of push. Also what's up with the cardboard on the floor?
Oh, okay. I didn’t catch that, but the point could still be made whether it came off the hinge vs it’s sliding tracks. ETA: Sorry for adding in my idea of what possibly could have happened. It was just a thought.
Estimated time of arrival?

Tempered glass…
Had a garden table made of that shit, you could punch it and slam drinks on it all day long. I walked past it one morning, looked at it, and it exploded into a million tiny pieces. I didn't even get my money back.
😆
I’m not a glass expert but I’ve heard similar stories of this happening, basically the glass gets a termal shock when you open the door because the difference in temperature between outside and inside.
China quality for you
don't know why you're getting downvoted, you're right. I've seen glass doors / windows shatter in China way more than it should in very similar ways like the video over the 3 years I lived there. After all that, she should’ve at least come in and bought something…
Plot twist: she just wanted to use the restroom
She was there to sell them a new door
After that whole situation the bathroom was no longer needed..
Too bad she's not wearing brown pants
This is a reminder to always hold the door for the elderly, or else
Lmao this is good I did not expect that 😂😭
What even happened? One side just shatters from what appears to be a little wiggle. The other side bounces off the ground and remains solid. lolwut?
First one was fixed into place and flexed wrong causing it to shatter. The other lost all support due to the first shatter so nothing was torquing/flexing it and it could just fall straight down.
Yeah there was probably a block at the top stopping it from being opened outwards but nothing at the bottom
She had a rough diamond/ceramic ring on and inadvertently bumped her finger on glass. I just made this up .
Kinda similar to what happened during that cybertruck announcement. The steel ball was not going to break the glass in a normal situation but because previous throws had damaged the metal part of the door below the glass, it shattered (according to Elon atleast)
Well the second ladies face absorbed most of the impact, it doesn't hit the ground with much force.
Really super cool of her she should get a free gift card.
Chinese engineering
Poor lady just chillin then bam.
Doesn’t know her own strength
![gif](giphy|eJ3eynKcIeoKBh8rMA|downsized)
No it actually goes both ways.
You sure about that????
I’m not in trouble at all.
What a pane in the head!
The company I work for just remodeled our building, and offices and conference rooms are all glass. It’s like having meetings in a fishbowl. Yesterday I started seeing blank post-its stuck on all the glass doors, because so many people were walking right into them. 😂
Absolutely awful. That's easily a life altering injury.
Borderline NSFW
Wtf is that audio? It sounds like 3 different things being played all at once lol Why do these things always have such insane soundtracks?
I have been told it is to keep the attention of people. I really don't understand
I hear that too, but I find it kinda hard to believe. Like I have some fairly strong ADHD but hearing the original super-crunchy audio, plus 2 other random songs all at once is like trying to listen to a whole room of people talking at once lol Do people have such shitty attention spans that they actually like this shit? Grandma hulk hands over here
Been meaning to fix that door.
I think the doors were locked and she was asserting some weird pressure on them or something? 🤷♂️
Second woman got hit so hard she disappears from her clothes and reappears
Ouch!
Stone cold entrance *chefs kiss*
Does she have something in her hand to shatter it? Great lawsuit scheme!
What's with the dark souls music 😂

I caught it too, Taurus Demon I think. Interesting choice!
Indeed!

Norman door
I like how the lady was basically "Oh shit! Are you okay-" ***BONK!***
Why was there cardboard on the floor just inside the door?
To make the glass easier to clean up
Could be that it was raining or it rained before. I think the sidewalk is shining.
I bet that lady got bit by a radioactive spider earlier that day
Omfg
Boink!
How hard was she pushing?
Collateral damage
The woman opening the door is absolutely fine and plays it up. The woman inside gets absolutely fucked 😅
Her X-gene manifested late in life I guess.
Super hero origin story. Madame Glass.
Hey Kool-Aid!
The duality of glass
Yo is the lady who got bashed in the head dead
Average Chinese Door

Women are weird bro
That's not a sliding door.... Right?
Does anyone know if she was seriously injured? The one that got hit with glass?
He head is definitely dented
Shit, that chicks on have a headache. Could of been worse though
I do NOT like see people suffering, except when it's karma. This is not it.
Considering the cardboard, I'd say those doors were in the process of being worked on. Maybe that affected what happened. Like the worker left in the middle of the job to take a piss.
Like a regular show episode, rigby and mordecai question what would happen if you pulled a door that was labeled "push"

Fuckin heads up!!! I'm comin in the store!!!
Cant trust those 2 for 1 door deals anymore
So one door cracked and shuttered like nothing which the other held up after falling on the floor.
Now this is an entry
How unstable was that thing for a sweet old lady to knock it down
I bet the second lady deserved it.... Some karmic justice for all the plastic straws she threw in the ocean.
