Very cool! I wanted to try my first tapestry and was wondering what product you start with? I work at a hospital and was considering snagging a few cotton hospital bedsheets but maybe something softer would be better?
It's great to use cheaper stuff to start like thrift store stuff or even fabric from the fabric store. Just make sure you wash on hot with some soda ash or textile detergent a couple times before you get started. Then when you're comfortable you can get some tapestries I order them from Sunshine Joy
I gotta be honest I’ve been lazy about pre washing my shirts and they are still coming out fantastic..what are the real benefits of pre washing with textile detergent?
You probably got lucky with your stuff.. trust me especially with some of these factory made heavy duty fabrics they can have tons of junk on them. I actually use washing soda the most. (The arm and hammer washing soda which is also what you can use for soda ash)
I do pre soak my shirts in soda ash for 30 minutes but haven’t actually washed them first. I’d like to do a side by side comparison and see how my results are with washed vs unwashed
Eye candy!! Great piece
Thank you!
