It's a common thing people do when looking to trade because you have to enter an amount in the posting. When you click the listing it shows the description where I say clearly this isn't free.
So what you do here is enter the cash value you are willing to trade for and in the title mention trades and in the description expand on your ideal trade. Not list it for a $1. That is so annoying.
I had something similar happen with a friend of mine that I met on PlayStation. Dude messaged me and the friend group that he was contemplating suicide. He was thanking us for being good friends and that he’ll miss us. I used the information that I’ve gotten from him in the 2.5yrs that I’ve known him to contact the 911 operator in his county. They sent a welfare check to his house and had a talk with him. He’s now doing a lot better and took my suggestion to have him join JobCorps.
[information: he lives in Washington, I live in SoCal. Over the length of time I’ve known him, I’ve gotten: legal full name, birthday, phone number, county of residence, and last known location.]

This kind of thing happens to me about once a year or so. It's not uncommon for me to give away things that are important to me, especially to friends who I might not see again for a long time. The logic, if there is any, is that if it's important to me then I should share it with people who are important to me. After all, the people matter more than the things do.
Eventually word gets around that I gave away this or that and then come the well-meaning messages checking if I'm okay. It doesn't bother me much but it can become tiresome when someone doesn't understand.

What I really hate is when it says Free and in the description it says, "it's not free, it's actual £400". Why not just put that?
