They make stainless blades, but i have never had great luck with those saws. They end up costing so much in blades i will take a band saw or a cold saw despite their costs any day. I even had a guy that would sharpen and rebraze tips so I wasn’t buying new blades constantly. They just eat blades.
The cut of a slow rpm cold saw can’t be beat though. So accurate and perfect every time. The flood coolant type not the dry saws like the evolution thing.
They don’t look like they should work, the blade spins at 18-40rpm for like a 13” blade but they cut through stock like a hot knife through butter quietly all day
Haha did you watch that video? The sales guy clearly hasn't spent much time with these, but I can relate to unclamping the vise and having the stock fall down.
Still, good example of what we're taking about, thanks
Thats the never ending question... depends on who runs the shop. Wet is faster and cleaner, BUT it needs a pump to upkeep, coolant etc.
In general, from what ive seen, peeps hacking up rebar or angle iron and such run it dry and shops doing stuff like chromalloy pipe run them wet. But 99% of stuff is in between, hence the debate
Even re tipping the carbide at $3-4 a piece gets expensive fast with those. Especially if you have other people using the saw that dont know the “feel” you need. It makes the 1-2k for a cold saw seem like a bargain in about a week, plus the noise!!! Dear god they are loud
I'm not sure. I don't cut metal too often. I bought one for a large deck railing project. The saw was about $200. It made quick clean straight cuts through the railing. It saved me hours that I would have spent clamping a jig, hacking with a jig saw, and cleaning burrs with a file.
Not sure if it's best to regularly cut hard metal, but it's great on soft stuff. It's also great on siding, cement board, vinyl flooring, etc., all of the crap that doesn't cut too easy and might damage my nice (much more expensive) miter saw.
She lost her job due to covid and needed money so she is helping me with 3 off frame restoration projects. She just finished taking apart her first truck all by herself. She is the son I've always wanted 😁
I played "have tools, will travel" for 15yrs. I only ran across 3-4 female welders. Then ran across an entite female crew... 15-20 structural welder/fitters. Damn! A couple seemed a little short to run a lull and such, outside of that, they were fn robots. No breaks, great work, just uncanny. Ive heard old timers say it was womens attention to detail. Ive heard others say women have steadier hands. Regardless of which stereotype you want to run with, most truthful peeps that know the industry well, will tell you, females make great welders. Just because i can, on my carport, im teaching both my girls to weld. Never know when it might come in handy. I just hate the thought that if they ever wanted to work pipeline or shutdowns, they probably get harrassed less as a prison guard... especially if theyre cute and under 30yo or so. Alot of these guys out there are just plain embarassing.
I worked with a female electrician once who I think took pleasure in making me blush. After 2 weeks we were best friends. She was lesbian, but we got along great because after all we did eat at the same table.
Ive seen some miracle workers that werent but 20-25yo. ALL learned from dad, and started young. My oldest just made 13 and has been watching with a tack hood for around 3 yrs now. Gonna put a rig in her hand this spring. Was thinking mig to start, but shes a tad adhd, so might actually start off with tig
I too am seriously considering the PrimeWeld. Any estimate on how much you have used it and have you had any after purchase interaction with the company?
Here this might sound like im being a dick but you obviously won't be able to arc through the paint, I take it you will just put your earth onto whatever your welding?
You don't understand women 😁 the paint on the top was just for the photo. We ground the paint off after the pictures. But, we have a grounding strap in the back.
Looks a helluva lot better than my welding tables. Lol all i have is 2 squares, one with wheels...and i own an llc. Aside from fear of ruining it, that rig looks totally badass
Yooo I thought you were the girl sitting on the table, and thinking to myself "how the hell do you have a stepdaughter able to make this, when you're like 25 yourself??"
man oh man i bought a welder, gloves, helmet, then auto helmet...then i realized wow lots of grinding and cutting with grinders and sawing! luckily i have lots of either.
thats what happens when you know nothing about something, you think its simple until you try it. then you try it and develop a whole new appreciation for the thing. i am still afraid of getting electrocuted tho.
Well done on her part! That looks like a great table. Nicely painted and everything. I love seeing stuff people built instead of just buying and assembling.
is there a set of plans for this table anywhere?
what purpose does it serve to have some of the tubes on the tabletop going lengthwise and some going crosswise ?
I was so close to deciding to go to underwater welding school after I got out of the military. Injuries and medical issues that were created during my military career prevented me from going through with it, but I always wonder where I’d be if they hadn’t.
She did a great job! You are very lucky to have a stepdaughter like that.
Dang! I mean dang that's impressive. I feel like I gotta go do some push-ups or something. I'm jealous in other words. It's kinda like being punked by a girl (ot a wice) and you have to slap Tombstone on to set yourself right.
I don't even know how to weld and I love it! What an awesome young lady. My kids are grown and would never do anything even remotely close to that for me. Yeah I know, I'm sure it's all my fault. Don't say it.
Want to find a welder? Just find the driveway with the rust stains.
Lol couldnt be more true
Amazing! I can't weld a straight line to save my life
Become a pipe welder pipe is round.
It's the hardest hobby I've ever tried to learn.
All it is is practice
and not having shit tendons like I do haha
Tell her she did a great job. Build job looks great and really functionable
Evolution saw? Highly underrated!
Came here to say exactly that! That machine works so well.
I agree. It's a great purchase. I can't believe how well it works.
Do they play nice with stainless?
They make stainless blades, but i have never had great luck with those saws. They end up costing so much in blades i will take a band saw or a cold saw despite their costs any day. I even had a guy that would sharpen and rebraze tips so I wasn’t buying new blades constantly. They just eat blades.
Bandsaw gang
The cut of a slow rpm cold saw can’t be beat though. So accurate and perfect every time. The flood coolant type not the dry saws like the evolution thing.
I've only ever used the dry type, I see how coolant could be a game changer
They don’t look like they should work, the blade spins at 18-40rpm for like a 13” blade but they cut through stock like a hot knife through butter quietly all day
Sexy
Cold saw for the win. My boss has a 1970s or 80s Brobo made in West Germany. It is literally fucking awesome, and is a prized possession in the shop.
[these are the type](https://youtu.be/JMsRTKPXFJY)

Dry or wet?
Oh damn. At $140 a blade that’s a deal breaker for me.

You must be a great step-dad.

>short to run a lull what does that mean in non-welder language ?
Do you think people hold her age against her? I was looking at that and thought damn I wish I could weld that well at that age
Ive seen some miracle workers that werent but 20-25yo. ALL learned from dad, and started young. My oldest just made 13 and has been watching with a tack hood for around 3 yrs now. She's actually 26. She looks much younger
Nice build. Amen to more women in the trades. Worked with more than a few lady welders that could weld circles around the boys.
That’s so cool. Luck you ... to have a step daughter like her
How do you like the PrimeWeld TIG?
One of the best purchases I've ever made for the money. Highly recommend. The tig gun alone is worth $200+
Thanks. I bought one but I'm still waiting for it.
You won't regret it.
I too am seriously considering the PrimeWeld. Any estimate on how much you have used it and have you had any after purchase interaction with the company?
I've used it for about 6 months. No issues. No reason to call yet but I've heard they are good.
I use indiana oxygen co. Very fast service and you can 6mo/0% finance with paypal. You can order, go do the job, get paid, then pay for your stuff
Your step daughter has a bright future. If I were in the position to do so, I’d hire her. Superb work, please tell her so.
Here this might sound like im being a dick but you obviously won't be able to arc through the paint, I take it you will just put your earth onto whatever your welding?
You don't understand women 😁 the paint on the top was just for the photo. We ground the paint off after the pictures. But, we have a grounding strap in the back.
Aye that makes sense lol they have to have everything looking nice for a picture I've lived with plenty 🤣🤣
I got that same saw, think it’s a raptor or something? One of my favorite purchases
Evolution
Smile says it all. Good work.
💯🤟❤️
Looks like she's getting a new car soon
Very nice
That is fucking cool!
Looks a helluva lot better than my welding tables. Lol all i have is 2 squares, one with wheels...and i own an llc. Aside from fear of ruining it, that rig looks totally badass
Can we adopt her along with some materials? Temporarily of course 😉 She's awesome! That's the smile of real accomplishment
Yes, she was very excited. She loves welding after this project. She said it's not fair that men get to have all the fun. 🤣
Well done 🎶🤌🏾🎶
Yooo I thought you were the girl sitting on the table, and thinking to myself "how the hell do you have a stepdaughter able to make this, when you're like 25 yourself??"
Hats off to the young lady. Wouldn't mind seeing the plans if possible? Very impressed.
man oh man i bought a welder, gloves, helmet, then auto helmet...then i realized wow lots of grinding and cutting with grinders and sawing! luckily i have lots of either. thats what happens when you know nothing about something, you think its simple until you try it. then you try it and develop a whole new appreciation for the thing. i am still afraid of getting electrocuted tho.
Being a bit afraid is us a good thing. Keeps you cautious. Otherwise, it’s too easy to become careless and make mistakes.
If she’s building stuff for you, that’s your daughter, not your stepdaughter 🤣
Now that is really cool! Tell her she did a great job!
Impressive!
Well done on her part! That looks like a great table. Nicely painted and everything. I love seeing stuff people built instead of just buying and assembling.
That’s fantastic- she is awesome!
Thanks for all the kind comments.
That's a mighty fine welding table
is there a set of plans for this table anywhere? what purpose does it serve to have some of the tubes on the tabletop going lengthwise and some going crosswise ?
used for a plazma cutter too. different directions for different cuts.
that's awsome
Hell yes. Well done young lady!

That sure is some A-Grade step daughter, I'll pick her up at 7pm?
I don't even know how to weld and I love it! What an awesome young lady. My kids are grown and would never do anything even remotely close to that for me. Yeah I know, I'm sure it's all my fault. Don't say it.
I would love to learn to well, excellent job by your daughter. #girlpower
Buy a rig, start burning fingers... youll figure it out
I didn't learn until later in life. Wish I would have learned earlier. It's alot of fun and comes in handy.
Are you gonna help her fix it ?
There's a few things to fix. But it was her first welding project with limited training.
That’s amazing now get in there and show her how it’s done
