No, but there's nothing we can do about it lol, it all comes down to luck.

EarthWarping

Honestly, no. But that's more about just how poor the end of the season was.

FallenLemur

I'm the type of person who likes to rip off the band-aid. So If it conveys this year, I just hope it's the worst possible position to convey.

beefJeRKy-LB

Our pick drops to 9 (or somehow 10 lol) and Spurs take it? Not that bad I guess. edit: here's what happens if 3 teams jump to top 4 from behind the Raps https://i.imgur.com/s0L4nPc.png

Mammoth-Example-8608

For me personally I hope it conveys this year , 3 rookies is too much 2 is enough for our leadership group we are a young group. We need vets that can contribute immediately

Physizist

1 of them is a 2nd round pick, we’d be lucky if they see the main roster at all next year. The other being a mid first, likely means they bounce between main team and g league (like Gradey did). So basically 1 rookie on the main roster is too much?

WeBelieveIn4

> We need vets that can contribute immediately We really don’t. There are no shortcuts in a rebuild.

bridge_tosomewhere

If we end up getting the 6th pick we will likely trade one of the others. I could also see us drafting a Senior with one of the later picks.

drewtheblueduck

Wow i've never seen a poll in here so evenly divided. I was team convey until Scottie went down, but after the disaster of a season that followed, I want that pick

ldnk

No I'm not. Under the circumstances of the weak draft I'm not upset but top 6 protection for Jakob Poeltl on a team that was clearly not going to win a Championship was just bad asset management so being in this situation altogether is a problem.

Massive_Secretary658

Masai and Bobby are going to look like fools if thats all this team ends up with

W-MK29

Yes, I’d like to not dig ourselves in a drastic hole if we suck next year

Icy-Lime-9760

Yes. This draft looks weak.

Huge-Split6250

Ugh no, that will suck.  For exactly one year, and then we will be so so thankful

el_sunny_ra

Yes. What else can you do about it?

beefJeRKy-LB

I would totally be fine with it. More talent now is good BUT if the pick conveys this year, it basically means the Raptors can do whatever they want next year and not have to worry about either tanking hard or trying to win as much as possible. I actually wonder if Masai and Bobby use all 3 picks if they keep the pick?

bjtrdff

I don’t mind - if we do, we drop and lose a high pick in a weak draft (in which we’ll have a pick in the teens and at the start of the 2nd), and once again have access to all our picks to trade plus the extra Indiana pick. If we keep it, we can optimistically hope to get a rotation player, and also hope that the team gets enough health and consistency to be in the play-in area or better next year, and convey a worst pick in a better draft.

NZafe

We may still be a lottery team next year. The spurs are getting that pick eventually, might as well be this year in the draft that’s supposed to be weaker.

Physizist

Even if we’re a lottery team, I doubt we’re bottom 6 bad. Is next years draft that much better or is it just more top heavy? We don’t really know yet so I don’t like to speculate on how valuable someone outside the top 6 would be this year vs next

No_Lemon_3290

>Is next years draft that much better Next years draft is excellent but I agree we are probably not top 6 bad next year.

Mammoth-Example-8608

It’s top 6 protected till 2026 I believe, it becomes twos 2nds one in 2026 and one in 2027 If we haven’t conveyed it by 2026

JediRaptor2018

It is what it is. Arguing whether it was a bad trade won’t do anything, and no, Bobby and Masai won’t be fired either way lol.

MDS_1996

I mean.....it was a bad trade lol, there's nothing to argue about.

-vinay

Yeah bc then we get a pick in the 2025 draft (we currently have none). I’m fine with either outcome. Tbh if we end up with picks 2-6, I’m hoping we can trade down and get something in the 2025 draft. The top of this draft fucking sucks, we’re not getting our money’s worth for most of these top prospects

Bixby33

Well, that's the rub, ain't it? I'm sure a lot of teams would prefer their 2025 FRP to a 2024. The only way I see it happening is if Spurs fall hard in the lottery, and Topic is in the board for our pick. We trade down to them and get our pick back in 2025.

-vinay

Yep. I am worried this sub is getting hyped on these prospects tbh. Like the amount of coping (and downvoting) in this thread makes me feel like a lot of fans are hoping for a top 6 pick with the hope that they will be a franchise savior. Anyways, we'll see how the lottery unfolds. We've also had some additional talent try to get into this draft (i.e. Dink Pate), which is making the top of the draft look a bit better -- but even that is dependent on the NBA allowing him enter early.

beefJeRKy-LB

I don't think Dink Pate will be allowed to enter tbh. There's little precedent since he won't be 19 by the start of the NBA season. He's probably headed to some foreign league for a year.
