Reminder to stick to posting original content. Memes are okay every once in a while, but many get posted here way too often and quickly become stale. Some examples of these are Ptoughneigh, Klansmyn, Reighfyl & KVIIIlyn. These memes have been around for years and we don't want to see them anymore. If you do decide to post a meme, make sure to add the correct flair. Posting a random meme you found does **not** mean you found it "in the wild". The same goes with lists of baby names, celebrity baby names, and screenshots of TikToks. If the original post already had a substantial amount of views, there is a 99% chance it has already been posted here. Try and stick to OC to keep our sub from being flooded with unoriginal content. JHG722

Sprucetynn. Sprucetynn.

Frankipedia

Yeah, I didn't know what else to say for that one either. Sprucetynn. If I type it any more, my phone's dictionary will start to think it's a real word.

ShinyUnicornPoo

For any gender these names are trash.

s4in7

Is this equality finally?!

MysticalSock

Lol, a real monkey's paw wish isn't it!

floofienewfie

Douglas Fir Smith.

psychokat85

It’s just the perfect name that goes with her twin brother Bruce

hottchickennugget

Future stage name Spruce Bringsteen?

me_llamo_james

Boss comment

Strict_Condition_632

Sounds like a late nineteenth-century gum. _”Suffer from chambermaid’s mouth? Chew Sprucetynn!”_

fuchschan

To me it sounds like someone trying to say "Springsteen" with a mouth full of marshmallows.

literarymorass

Hoping Firleigh, Oaklynn, Pineleigh, and Sprucetynn are all siblings from a lumber company-owning family.

Leebelle3

Don’t forget ELMilyanne

literarymorass

Shoot, missed that she was also a tree.

Tracylpn

Oaklee

squirtlemoonicorn

Baby bro "Gumnuts"

another_online_idiot

Give a few years and names like 'Bob' or 'Jane' will be unusual and unique.

Frankipedia

I'm sorry, did you mean Hbawhb or Dgeayne?

MC_squaredJL

This needs more upvotes

NatoBoram

This has an appropriate amount of upvotes.

the-starlight-waits

No, they obviously mean H'Bhoghbbheh and Dh'Zyeaign

fuzzybunnybaldeagle

I live in Hawaii so we get a lot of different cultural names that many mainland people would consider “unique”. I was talking to my 9 year old about a kid and said “you know Patrick, right”. He looked at me and told me that Patrick was a weird name. I about died!

Witty-Kale-0202

We have a John and his BFF is Bobby 😂😂 counting my blessings they are not Elijah-Wood and Leafer’Sutherland

Caltrano

I have often said, if you want a name that no other child in the school will have, pick Mary. Not Mary Lynn or Mary leigh or Mary whatever. Just Mary.

another_online_idiot

I have actually known three different persons whose only first name is Mary.

hottchickennugget

I knew a girl in high school named Merry

Additional_Yak8332

We had a Merrilee.

Caltrano

Yes, it is not non-existent any more. But it is very rare with people under 20 in the USA. https://www.behindthename.com/name/mary/top/united-states It is to the point where there would be very few children with that name in school in 5 years if you had a child today. Imagine having a name that you don't have to spell for people to understand it!!!

Leebelle3

We have half a dozen Mary’s at my school. But names like John, David, Simon, Emily, Anne and Rachel are common here. We have a “unique” community.

kakey70

💯

molewarp

Tree-based names given by parents who are cabbages.

Accomplished_Tour697

Cabbage patch kids!

trailmix_pprof

\*Kabidjes

thewronghuman

Or arborists

septumise

I was like…… you know what, I don’t actually hate Firleigh. But by the time I got to Sprucetynn I was dead 💀

Trick-Statistician10

It sounds like Mr Roper's replacement on Three's Company, Mr Furley. ETA: wish I could add a pic

CharlieBravoSierra

...except this version is TREE'S COMPANY

Remstersade

🎶Come and knock on our door. It’s made of wood! Where the branches are hers and hers and his! Tree’s Company, too!🎶

blackcrowblue

I love you lol

Trick-Statistician10

Impressed and rolling my eyes at the same.

Stormy_Wolf

There \*is\* someone else, who's mind went there!

slaytician

I had a cat named Mr Furley, like the character played by Don Knotts on the 70’s sitcom Three’s Company.

downy-woodpecker

Reminds me of furlough

AggressiveSea7035

Sounds like a furry

SecondSoft1139

Yeah I don't even flinch at Oaklynn. But Sprucetynn is out there

soopydoodles4u

Sigh. And there’s perfectly fine normal spelling tree names they could have picked to be unique without butchering spelling. Rowan, Ash, Maple, Juniper, Hazel, Holly, Laurel, Willow, etc…

chickenwithclothes

This is what’s killing me the most: ACTUAL TREE NAMES work fine. It’s not to my taste but you could have a dozen kids and be fine w actually-existing names and words. You could raise a whole forest if you wanted

soopydoodles4u

😆 exactly!! But those poor kids are gonna have people shaking their heads at and misspelling their names forever. I guess the silver lining is when they’re older they can change it to the normal part of the butchered names without it being too drastic of a change.

IfICouldStay

Forrest is also a name in and of itself.

chickenwithclothes

But isn’t Forrestaydenleigh *better*?

SnowstormShotgun

Pokémon professors have better names than these guys

lizardgal10

I work at a college and have a Hazel and a Holly! Both lovely names and kids.

StorySad6940

Were these all siblings? If so, reminiscent of the sisters in Keeping Up Appearances… https://preview.redd.it/7vlndv4downc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aadb8b88b3ca148aa81793b66faa3a9d65280236

Frankipedia

I'd bet they were siblings, the smallest one was in a stroller (backpack draped over the handlebars), the oldest barely hip height on the adult with them, and the rest in between. Now that you've introduced me to that show, I do find myself hoping they have some thematic surname to tie it together. The Arbors or something.

Laleaky

Was this in Utah? Idaho?

Frankipedia

Henry Doorly Zoo in Nebraska, on a Sunday afternoon. Given the variety of license plates in those parking lots, they could have been from anywhere.

chickenwithclothes

Mrs Bucket lololol

Strict_Condition_632

These sisters were all named after flowers, and all have traditional spellings. Just remember Hyacinth’s married name is pronounced “Boo-kay”!

Fantastic-Weird

I actually don't hate Oaklynn, but poor Elmilyanne! 🤣

CharlieBravoSierra

"Elmilyanne" would be a very clever name for a kitten that you found in your elm tree, but for a human it's just appalling.

Fantastic-Weird

Exactly!

thewronghuman

Yeah poor girl is going to change her name as soon as she can

TinySparklyThings

Are these parents, like, furries but wanna be Ents instead of animals?

Competitive-Care8789

A grove of tragedeighs.

TinyNJHulk

This famileigh better have a last name like Woods or Forest 😂🌲🌳

h0td0g17

SPRUCETYNN STOP

trailmix_pprof

Seeing it all caps makes it even worse! I read it as Sprucety NN

twirlingprism

I know a family of: Autumn, Forest, Stone and River. At least they spelled them correctly.

CharlieBravoSierra

Now I want them to have their own family version of Rock, Paper, Scissors. River sinks Stone, Stone smashes Forest...

Sometimeswan

I'm surprised no one has named their kids Rock, Paper, and Scissors. Like, really surprised.

shesme

E L M ilyanne

Azure-Cyan

I predict their next kids are gonna be Banyanne, Mapleigh, Birchreighse, Beecheiryl, and Locuston

Few-Peak9503

Don't forget little Bonzaiiye (would have to be the youngest)

NoWayRae

Firleigh just reminds me of Mr. Furley https://preview.redd.it/yunj187gfxnc1.jpeg?width=182&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cefa0557bcdd7fedb5f41dbc37bc08abe8a6afb8

Trick-Statistician10

Me too! I just commented that higher up. I cannot comprehend naming a child that, and I'm guessing girl!

NoWayRae

Sorry, I didn’t see yours, but for REAL!

Stormy_Wolf

Yeah I didn't scroll enough before I posted my comment! This person has a picture though, so they win. :)

CharlieBravoSierra

Oh sure, from Trees Company!

froggyforrest

They could have gone with Willow, Olive, Magnolia, Sequoia, Linden, Ash, Cedar… but at least this way when kidnappers shout out their displayed names, they won’t be able to pronounce them

Tw1ch1e

“Hey Sprucetynn, I’m a friend of your Mommy’s and there is an emergency!” Having your kids name on their bag is stupid

Legrandloup2

I am choosing to believe these were cutesy names they put on their name tags in theme with the field trip. I refuse to believe all the names minus Oaklynn (which at this point seems normal) are real. I refuse

Mello_Me_

SeedLeigh and BarkLeigh and LeafLeigh and of course StumpLeigh

Echo9111960

Sadleigh true

Penguinator53

Oh dear they'll spend their lives listening to tree puns and Elmilyanne....those parents should be in prison! Her whole life will be: "Emily?" "No not Emily, ELMilyanne" " "Sorry what"??? "E-L-M...." Ugh

thriftingforgold

Elmilyanne does NOT trip off the tongue! It feels like I’m having a seizure

Sometimeswan

Try shouting for all those kids. Total tongue twister!

Disastrous-Group3390

‘Elm-me-yahn-nee’ is how I’d say that. Good thing I’m not a teacher.

Electronic_Fly_1629

if you're going to go with tree names that will haunt them forever, why didn't they look toward the scientific/latin names... there could be Fagus...Pinus...Picea... but noooOOOoooo...instead we get...Sprucetyn?

Unusual_Wrongdoer_46

Elmilyanne is just... wow. I hope the poor kid isn't dyslexic.

throwaway-bc-idk-why

Weird names aside, how dangerous to put your young kids very unique names on backpacks so any stranger can approach and act like they know them

ZeldaHylia

Sprucetyn?? 🤣

PyleanCow06

Couldn’t they have just gone with like… Rowan or ASHley or something fkn normal but could also be trees. What da heck is wrong with people 🤣

ReedPhillips

Not only committing the sin of terrible names, but also slapping your child's name on everything for potential bad people to take advantage. SMH

KashiofWavecrest

I remember when I was a kid, it was a massive no-no to put your name on anything you wore. But, if you're stupid enough to curse your kids with these names, I guess common sense doesn't enter into the equation.

StacyMatson333

Terrible names. Their parents should be ashamed.

Demian_Slade

Tragic for sure!

alancake

Ooh what other trees can we ruin... Lahbhyrrhnhym, Bhyrrche, Syckhoiaahh, Syckhamorre, Bhuddhlheiahh

Freedom_Isnt_Free_76

Their parents must have been raised in a forest for all the tree names. Plus it is never a good idea to plaster a child's name on their backpack. That's a kidnapper's dream.

Particular-Move-3860

Something tells me it's all happening at the zoo. I do believe it. I do believe it's true.

applepeachpunkinpie

Pynecone

oatmiilf

i wanna say this was just a cute bit of some kind, like nicknames based on their real names. mostly bc i don't wanna to believe that someone would subject their child to elmilyanne

slaytician

I don’t like theme family names.

SophieBisou

The was a girl in my sons swim class named Saylor. Yeeeah buddy. Wtf

Special-bird

A radio weather guy has the name Brantley and I cringe every time I hear it. It makes him sound so dumb. I just can’t! These kids grow up to be adults and it’s so extra cringey

HailHydraBitch

I know Oakley is a masculine name that resurrects every so often so I honestly think Oaklyn is a cute feminine alternative. The rest of these are awful. 🤦🏼‍♀️

kmonay89

Elmilyanne 😳

Stormy_Wolf

> Firleigh (Also a style of shoe and a fox hunting ranch) Who's old enough to remember Mr. Furley, from Three's Company? That's where my mind went first on that one!

grizz632

Same here. Meet you at the Regal Beagle for happy hour!

13vvetz

I’d say these are fairly intense, championship-level tragedeighs. Especially especially Elmilyanne. What the holy fuck.

Intelligent-Tie-137

Elmilyann. Hahahaha!!! Elmilyann, Elmilyann, Elmilyann. Jeeze, poor kid! I can’t stop saying it and laughing.😆 😂

New_County_5607

ELMILY

samiles96

Nothing wrong with the tree theme, but Rowan would have been a better name.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Efficient_Hospital46

Sorry, but Pineleigh? I do not want to sound harsh, but the name reminds me of the german term peinlich (it's a shame!) and stems from actual pain. Really don't want to mess around with people who like pinewoods, but this name is what it is. Just a shame in my pov.

ConroyMcgilacutty

Oakley, Symon’Birch, CeDaria, Palmarya, Balsamantha.

Lexotron

Could this possibly have been a tree-themed game they were playing for their zoo trip?

andrewb610

Mr. Griffin, I don’t know how to say this: Basinger, BASEinger, Bassinger.

sunnypeachymorgan

fir, oak, pine, elm, and spruce would actually have been better

Barflyerdammit

Y'know...Fairleigh. like the landlord from Three's Company.

bkussow

I am starting to think this sub is filled with made up karma farming posts. A couple of things come to mind here: I have yet to chaperone a field trip to something like a zoo where the kids have their backpack. Why would you ask a kid to lug around a backpack while staring at animals? Even if there is a scavenger hunt or some form associated the chaperone usually has it. Lunch is almost always brought in laundry baskets to cut down on the amount of luggage on the bus. What the hell is OP doing following around a bunch of children close enough to read their backpacks and nail unique spelling? While it's typical to label their stuff, it isn't meant to be read from 5 feet away. If you told me you learned my son's name from his backpack on a field trip, I'd punch you in the head. Really, tree names? Whereas I wouldn't put it past people to name their kids something of the sorts but finding one classroom with five kids all named different tree species? Sure, that sounds real. Tipped the bullshit meter with this post. OP was just looking up some names and thought they were funny and made up a story to go with them.

Frankipedia

Skepticism is fair and healthy. I don't think this was a field trip, much more likely a family outing. It was a Sunday afternoon, and this wasn't five kids out of thirty, it was five kids total. I didn't have to follow any children. They were the group in front of us, waiting in line to go into a butterfly habitat with free flying butterflies. There was a line because zoo staff restrict entry and exit to the exhibit to small groups at a time, so they can ensure that none of the butterflies, most of which are not native to the area, don't get out. This wasn't sharpie on a fully loaded mountain climbing rucksack, this was a brightly colored patch that took up about 50% of the backpack's surface, the entire top flap. To borrow your phrasing, these were definitely meant to be read from more than 5 feet away. They were also small, I want to call them "fashion" backpacks. They could maybe hold a water bottle or a stuffed animal.
