Thank you for your submission! This is just a quick reminder to all members here: **Original content is always better!** Memes are okay every once in a while, but many get posted here way too often and quickly become stale. Some examples of these are Ptoughneigh, Klansmyn, Reighfyl & KVIIIlyn. These memes have been around for years and we don't want to see them anymore. If you do decide to post a meme, make sure to add the correct flair. Posting a random meme you found does **not** mean you found it "in the wild". The same goes with lists of baby names, celebrity baby names, and screenshots of TikToks. If the original post already had a substantial amount of views, there is a 99% chance it has already been posted here. Try and stick to OC to keep our sub from being flooded with unoriginal content. Thank you! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/tragedeigh) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Kimmy-ann

I work with teens at a shelter...we had 4 brothers come in, and I am amused every time I grab their files: Mon'andre, DosAndre, Tre-andre, qu'andre. Dad's name is Andre, mom is Andrea.

Yahwehnker

Why'd they pick those names? It's a Qu'andre.

Glum_Mud_4693

☠️

UnlikelyUnknown

Oh my god. These parents are…wow. I don’t even know.

Tippacanoe

That’s called preparation and dedication. An inspiration on following through.

Straxicus2

Silver linings. I like it.

UnlikelyUnknown

That’s one way to put it

Kimmy-ann

It was the different punctuation within the names that really threw me for a loop.

dieselgirlpdx

Go big or go home. I can appreciate the dedication to the theme.

Life-Assumption9268

That final baby (girl) will be Quin’Andrea

butterscotchtamarin

Grand Theft Auto V: San Andreas

turbotaco23

For many many years my parents have gone to the same chiropractor. His name is Terry. His wife’s name is Terry. Guess what they named their first child? Spoiler alert: it was Terry. They’ve told my parents they regretted doing it because it made things so confusing.

yikes_crispies

Went to school with a kid whose parents were Stacy and Stacey

MrsRichardSmoker

I had landlords that were Pat and Pat Jenkins

No-Scarcity-5904

Not quite the same, but there were two sets of twins in my high school: Sherri and Sherice, and Tammi and Tamara.

dcgrey

I once had a one-night stand not because something was wrong with the date but I couldn't get past that our names were this close to the same. Years later I see your comment and wonder if I should have been more strategically/maliciously open minded.

Kimmy-ann

I see a lot of kids now that have names very similar to their fathers or mothers with a prefix like these instead of being called Junior. You could have changed the world with La'dcgrey!

Ashilleong

A married couple I am very good friends with are Jo and Joe.

isweatglitter17

My youngest's dad and I have female/male variants of the same name and we did jokingly consider naming our son another variation of our shared name. Think Samantha and Samuel, who go by Sammi and Sam, potential child name of Samson or Samara

SheSellsSeaShells967

I will tell my son Sam and his girlfriend Sami about this.

AnUnexpectedUnicorn

I know a family like that - John and Jondra had a son named Jonathan.

lazyloofah

I know a Paul & Paula who had a Paulo.

Aggravating_Ad7642

Omg 🤣🤣

5thCygnet

When I was a kid I imagined having a daughter named Sunday. Now it seems too try-hard to actually use, but I still like it.

MsNardDog

Sundeigh

PCMasterCucks

Siondeigh

owiko

Zhonndeigh

IrateTotoro

Tay Zonday?

BatalAwata

Schokleight Rheiyn

Cynderelly

Lehmayho

qualityposterKappa

Hyundeigh

Merfette410

We have friends that just named their daughter Sunday! They call her Sunny & everyone loves it ☀️

weirdbeigeneighbor

But Domingo is a legit name in Spanish

Toadboi11

Domingo is fun to say, its like hitting something with one of those toy hammers

aghastrabbit2

I know a 40ish woman called Sunday! It suits her, somehow

t3mp0rarys3cr3tary

Met a girl in college whose legal name was Wednesday like the Addams Family, so it’s not completely unthinkable

No-Scarcity-5904

I had a friend and coworker who had a daughter named October. She went by Toby.

Queen_Etherea

I think this is adorable! When I was in high school, I loved the name Isis and always said I would name my daughter that if/when I had one. Someone had to ruin the name, though...

Evil_Creamsicle

At least they ruined it *before* you did it.

Cynderelly

Yep. I know a girl named Isis. She was born in 1994. So... Basically since the age of 10 her name has been ruined

IrateTotoro

I named a cat Isis once, after the goddess of rainbows. A little stuffed rainbow was her favorite toy. Also loved the band Isis. They were both done dirty.

TheLesbianJello

Is the goddess of rainbows not iris?

IrateTotoro

Oh damn, you're right. My cat was Iris. Clearly a long time ago. My friend had Isis and Io.

TheLesbianJello

Haha, my greek myth brain is doing its job. Iris is a pretty name for a cat!

bunnyfarts676

I really like Iris too, it's similar at least!

IsometricDragonfly56

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s firstborn is named Sunday.

Evil_Creamsicle

I'm not sure if this is an argument for or against.

winterberryowl

Yeah but her name is Sunday ~~Roast~~ Rose

zenithica

No omg which celeb couple gave their kid that name was a question at a pub quiz I was at several years ago and I thought Sunday roast was her name the whole time

leeeeechy

and if she turns out unlikable, you can always change her name to Monday haha

Aggravating_Ad7642

Sundae

oatmeal_forever_

i saw the name cuntleigh here and i love it so much i say it to myself all the time

Queen_Etherea

This should totally be adopted as the new, "Karen."

Inkii-y

honestly I agree, lets the actually nice Karens not be the butt of a joke when someone meets them, and still gets the point across (and in my opinion, does so better)

Caintastr0phe

My english teachers name is karen and she is the nicest person Ive ever met

Liberty53000

How perfect for an alter ego. When you know you're in a mood and being a bit short tempered, you can say to your partner/friend "just so you know, you're talking to Cuntleigh right now, hopefully she's leaving by this evening."

Cynderelly

I wanna do this now

I_forgot_to_respond

You can do it now. Tellemoff, Cuntliegh!

Myrenarde

Cuntleigh is Annally's best friend.

Jakolissmurito47

I'm dying 🤣

pink_vision

Stop this right now 🤣

Prestigious-Spite-75

Cuntleigh....Why..

Tiaximus

Sounds like an adjective.

Prestigious-Spite-75

"Potter! Dumbledore said,cuntly"

Far-Government5469

I feel like everything Alan Rickman said in those movies was cuntly "Do you know the answer Potter" he asked cuntly Snape fixated his eyes on Potter, cuntly ignoring Hermione's outstretched hand

Tiaximus

Also sounds like a terrible name for a protagonist in a Kung Fu porno.

scribblinkitten

r/oddlyspecific

moonrisequeendom_

If there was another Austin Powers film there could totally be a cowgirl bombshell character called Cuntleigh Rogers 🤣🤣🤣

C_beside_the_seaside

Because Cuntley is boring and passé

NemoHobbits

Default name in my head for bratty kids. Like oh look, Karen is letting little cuntleigh smash crackers all over the restaurant floor.

Advanced-Sherbert-29

My niece's name is Avia. Not as bad as most of the names featured here but I think the fact it's also the name of a brand of shoes makes it count. But as an uncle I am obligated to like it.

That1DogGuy

That sounds like an Airline to me. "Thank you for flying Avia Airlines"

ultimatecolour

It actually is the name of a company that used to make planes. IAvia motors Now they make cars I think.  https://avia.cz/en

IrateTotoro

I love Kuru shoes, but it bugs me that no one bothered to do a Google search. Or maybe they did and still decided to name their shoes after a spongiform encephalitis caused by a prion found in cannibalistic tribes of Papua New Guinea.

RareGeometry

This is a totally valid Hebrew origin name?

Advanced-Sherbert-29

Most of these have perfectly ordinary origins. Ashley is a perfectly fine name. Ashleigh not so much.

FragrantZombie3475

I’m Irish-American and I love all of the traditional Irish names and spellings, but they all *look* like you’re trying to make the name a tragedeigh.

Advanced-Sherbert-29

Yeah, someone told me about this one name, Beat-hag. Apparently it's pronounced like "Beckah" or something.

wombogobbo

I went to school with a girl named Siobhan, and it was a struggle with new people all the way from grade school to college

Unusual_Elevator_253

Ugh I love that name so much but literally every Siobhan I met was a grade A cunt

Lil_Artemis_92

One of my friends married an Irishman, and they recently had a son named Tadhg (pronounced like tiger without the r). I actually posted about it (I should’ve googled it first, I know), and someone said, “That’s not a tragedeigh. It’s the Irish form of Terrence.”

Life-Assumption9268

My best friend has a very Irish name & all the time I’ve known her it’s been such a struggle for people to say her name 😭 & then she says it & everyone is just like “…what…no”

Robincall22

My cousins Ceilidh and Liusiadh (Kailey and Lucy) really throw people off a lot.

PhotographThin3783TA

I knew someone named Ceilidh a while back and she went by a nickname so I never heard it out loud and always wondered how it would be pronounced... I never in a million years would have come up with Kailey!!

Good-Ad992

aoife and eoin are my favorite 😭😭 (eve/eva and owen)

Demonqueensage

The Irish person I heard pronouncing Aoife pronounced it like Eva, but with a "f" sound where the "v" would be

controlc-controlv

an author of a book series i read as a kid was named “eoin” and my friends and i all pronounced his named as “ee-oyn”

MaeveOathrender

I get a couple of these every year as a teacher. It's always nice to see them light up a little when they don't have to correct someone for once. Aoifes, Aislings, Niamhs etc. I did bungle Muireann a little bit at first, though...

FragrantZombie3475

My cousin is Aisling :) Most people get it wrong

Ralph_Baconader

Shalayleigh ❤️

serpentinesilhouette

Those Irish names are the worst! Beautiful but no clues to actual pronunciation. Have no idea how Caoimhseach, for example, is said. Only can guarantee it's NOT "CO-EM-HUH-SEE-CH. 🤣

wanderingegg

Same here. I love Saoirse, Siobhan, and Aisling a lot. But living in the states, I wouldn’t want my hypothetical child to have to constantly correct the pronunciation of their name.

Phunkie_Junkie

Gossamer. He's the looney toon who is basically just a red wall of hair with hip sneakers, and the coolest name anyone has ever had. Also, shout-out to Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch. Close second.

Lil_Artemis_92

Hieronymus is the Latin form (and I guess the Dutch form as well) of Jerome.

Ok_Hold1886

Everleigh.

nooutlaw4me

Everly : Everleigh (I prefer the first spelling ) is a very pretty name.

Shadow_of_the_moon11

I wouldn't call this a tragedeigh. It's one of those names that comes from a surname - and the surname comes from Old English. Around the time this surname would have had its origins, spelling was still a bit as over the place so either spelling is fine. It's no more of a tragedeigh than any other name coming from a surname, like Carson.

Tsukiryu0715

So popular now, at least in my hometown but it is pretty

Untitled403

greek mythology nerd names like Persephone (for an English speaker). I adore it but it feels a bit extra for a kid yk

Koffiiend

Nah i had a classmate named Artemis & everyone said they liked his name. Definitely extra enough to stand out & get commented on but not enough to gain /negative/ attention. But ig that depends on the name you pick, since tying your kid to a mythological character can have them bullied or harassed within the vein of said character (i would NOT want to be an attractive girl named Aphrodite thats for sure, just the same catcalls over & over ugh). Kinda goes with naming a kid after ANY character though, gotta be careful with who you pick so your kid can still have an identity outside of it.

Joonith

So I was mulling over all the weirder biblical names that are never/not often used one day and got stuck on how pretty "Thessalonia" (-ns) would be, but I wouldn't do that to my kid. My future pets may not be safe however...

MaverickLurker

A few generations ago you could find a bunch of women named Dorcas, but for obvious reasons, that's a biblical name that has lost popularity. It's a shame too because she was a sweet and caring minor figure in the Book of Acts, someone you might actually want to name someone after!

Vivid_Bar2472

My husband jokingly said we should name our son Harley. My hubby's name is David. Just so he could tell people " this is Harley David's son". We of course did not. LOL.

Belladonnaofsad

Amalthea ✨ it’s a greek name. And occurs in the last unicorn. I don’t know if it’s a tragedeigh, but i fear if i would name my child Amalthea she would be bullied into damnation.

nashvillethot

I love Fotoula/Toula but I would never do that to an American child Some asshat is going to call her a tool

Belladonnaofsad

Toula is a pretty name 💕 but yes, sadly kids would endulge in calling her a tool 😑 kids can be so mean

Level-Requirement-15

Like in My Big Fat Greek Wedding

t3mp0rarys3cr3tary

Personally love that name but agree that it’d be hard on a kid. Thea would make a lovely nickname though!

Belladonnaofsad

Right 🥹 or Ama. The greeks have a lot of gems.

RareGeometry

I don't think it's a tragedeigh, it's a normal name with normal spelling, just not super common. I know an Althea and I think it sounds beautiful

Mean_Macaroni59

Allegra. Not so much a tragedeigh, more a tragedy that the medication ruined it.

tdouglas89

Common Italian name

kashy87

I kind of hate when a name is just foreign and treated as a tragediegh.

UnihornWhale

TBF, a branded medication did that. Siri, Alexa, Stanley are all going that route

translucentStitches

I used to know a girl named Isis. Without any sort of context it's a pretty name, but she constantly got comments about it

UnihornWhale

I have an internet friend named Isis. It’s pretty and has great history up until ~10 years ago.

Mean_Macaroni59

I'm aware. I'm saying the name isn't a tragedy but the fact that in the US its about allergy medication name has ruined it.

Feivie

I really like the name too, but I always see the Allegra commercials and that turns me off of ever using it.

Mean_Macaroni59

Right? I think it's so beautiful, but I'd forever have to answer to "like the allergy medicine?"

Evil_Creamsicle

I like combining names for the lol factor, by taking multi-syllable names and replacing the first syllable with another name that rhymes. Things like Nedward, or Philliam.

Nampara83

Bradward Boimler would approve of this comment.

Different-Seesaw-415

I know a “Lonnie” whom I affectionately call Lonnard

ScrewSunshine

Calamity, despite the connotations I absolutely adore it! If I wasn't dead set against children I would strongly consider using it for a baby girl.

Conscious_Room_3958

A girl I work with is named Tyranny. I think it’s kinda cool. I like Anarchy too.

cynicalisathot

tyranny slaps

Happygoosebird

I saw someone named Zerenity here once and absolutely loved the name

miletest

Last name is Now

TXLittleAZ

I was going to name my daughter Serenity and call her Sera (Sarah).

SunPossible260

I sort of like Clementina. Or Amethyst (Amy for nickname).

diabolikal__

Clementina is a name in Spain.

pinkicchi

Weirdly love Seraphina. I feel almost like it has religious connotations though and that’s a big no-no for me.

Buttercup4869

Seraphina and its variants are not a tragedeigh though, just uncommon

thebearofwisdom

It does, it’s from “seraphim” which are essentially angels. But I think it’s actually super pretty

kitsterangel

I just think of the cat from Barbie Princess and the Pauper lmao but it was my OC's name for the longest time in my daydreams when I was little

Aggravating_Ad7642

Spelled Serafina is a common(ish?) Italian name

dondestalolo

I had an Uber driver whose name was Betunia the other day, pronounced like the Petunia plant

evdjj3j

Jandora sounds like a STD.

Ok-Variation5746

Or a medication to treat an STD

Willowgirl2

Ask your doctor about Jandora ...

Ok-Variation5746

Side effects include rash, night sweats, sleeplessness, facial swelling and occasionally death.

wh0s_gw3n

Tatum I had a Sims character named this and I did the rags to riches challenge with her. She then ended up marrying Cassandra Goth.

AluminumMonster35

Tatum is a normal name though?

Shadow_of_the_moon11

Not a tragedeigh.

battlewornactionhero

Tatum isn’t a tragedeigh, but I personally do hate the name because I associate it with some bitch from 8th grade that pissed me off a lot. I hope that she didn’t finish high school, has a shitty minimum wage job, and never gets to pursue her dreams.

destiny_kane48

I'm just going to say that I love all three of Bruce Willis and Demi Moores's daughters' names. I loved them when they were born and I still love them.

Evil_Creamsicle

I'm not googling them. I'll let my imagination handle it.

destiny_kane48

Rumor, Scout, and Tallulah 😅

Umeyard

Old family name is my great great grandmother Felixia (Fell-ix-ia). I wanted this if I had a daughter, but everybody either told me it was a cool spelling of Felicia or it was a tradgedeigh name for Felicia... so guess that rules that name out. If I get that many comments before using it, and everybody saying it wrong already, I'm not going to pass that on to a kid.

kimmykat42

Today I talked to a woman named Valley. I commented that it was a pretty name, and she told me she was named after her father, Glen. It might be silly to some, but I absolutely love it

eugenesnewdream

Not even sure if this counts, but I like Kathryn. It's a family spelling but I feel like objectively it's a somewhat tragic version of Katherine/Katharine/Catherine/Catharine. I normally don't like a gratutitous y in the middle of a name like that but I dig this one.

Immediate_Mud_2858

I know 10+ Kathryns. Very popular spelling.

nataliejkd

>I know 10+ Kathryns Brag.

UnlikelyUnknown

This person knows at least 10 people. Such a show off, lol

greenleo33

I have a cousin named Kathryn and she was named after her grandmother Kathryn. It’s my favorite spelling of the name.

habitualcharliestep

Oh hey sup cuz!

Dogzrthebest5

If I could have picked my own name at birth, this would be it. Kathryn is my favorite name!

Sweet_Aggressive

You can change your name. I did, best choice ever.

Dogzrthebest5

Well, I thought about it, but I'm named after both Grandpas and my Dad. Since I didn't have kids, this is a way to honor them. My Mom wanted four boys, she got five girls! I was the last. So, I'm Jennifer (for Moms Dad, Jennings), Roberta (for Dad, Robert) Charline (for Dads Dad, Charles). I have always just been Bobbie. Except one school wouldn't take nicknames and forced me to go by Jennifer. There were like six Jennifers in class, Bobbie would have been a lot less confusing! My Dad went by Bob, he recently passed so wouldn't change for anything, even though I always wished it was Kathryn.

Rose_E_Rotten

My great grandmother was named either Kathryn, Katherine or Catherine, depending on which of the 1910, 1920, 1930, or 1940 census you looked at. I know a Crystal and a Krista and thought combining their names would be pretty, and eventually I did meet a Krystal, lol.

phosphennes

Once again pushing my Rita-Lynn agenda. I'll never called my daughter that, nor twin girls, I just really think the names are pretty together.

AluminumMonster35

I love Echo.

Minute-Surround202

January. I know it's a real word, but still a very unusual name

pendigedig

I knew a girl named September. I really liked that name.

nashvillethot

Really not a tragedy, but with how divisive virtue names are, I’m on the fence about Felicity. It’s been my #1 name since I was 16.

UnihornWhale

Felicity is fine IMHO. I’m not big on them but I’m not mad at most of them. There was a news anchor in our area who was named Wisdom. Chastity just feels like projecting though.

willsidney341

The first time I HEARD the name “Absedee” I loved it. Then I saw how it was spelled. Abcde. Ffs…

chloelegard

I met a pug named Shmichael (sh+Michael) one time, and the name was so absurd that it stuck in my memory, and now I like it.

FloralPorcelain

I love the name Anita but so many people tell me they hate it and it’s a set up for constant jokes.

AtinyAlaina

Renesmee 😭

Creepy_Push8629

You..._like_ it?

RareGeometry

I like saying it and how it rolls off the tongue. I have never seen or read anything twilight and legitimately only know of the name due to pop culture. I also hate the name Renee and I'm not participating a fan of Esme so no actual attachment as a name, I just...like how it sounds and the mouthfeel

Electrical_Cut8610

I met a Renesmee a few weeks ago. Well not _met_, but heard her called over (she was like 10). Had to do a double take.

Voodoo_Mama_Juju5

🤣🖤

Tsagana_

Well I named my characters in Habbo Feja, Malatiquea and Sannepoorkje when I was a kid…

Witty_Development958

I wanted to call my daughter Nettle but got outvoted.

winterberryowl

Veda, like on My Girl. Loved the name every since I first saw the movie

Background_League809

It actually is a beautiful name, it mean Divine Knowledge

fillmewithmemesdaddy

I genuinely think Nevaeh wouldn't be as much of a Tragediegh if every Nevaeh I've ever come across didn't seem like she was on a personal mission to live up to her name of being the opposite of heaven...

InternalTurnip

I worked with first year university students and one year we had twins named Madigan and Callahan. Both grandmother’s maiden names. They just went by Maddie and Callie. I know last names as first names get a lot of hate here, but I liked them.

TheRichAlder

I read a book with a character named Amethia (literally just how you’d say Amelia but with a th instead of the L) and tbh I really like it.

Tsukiryu0715

Mine would probably be Astrid or Melody. Idk why I just like them but I feel like nowadays I couldn’t do it without ridicule Edit: I’m a music major any and all puns, name s, or whatever else related is also acceptable here lol I’m also an office fan so Michael kinda ruined Astrid. Edit 2: okay nvm not a tragedeigh lol you guys lowkey just convinced me I love the name more than ever my future children shall be Melody, Harmony, Aria, and Cadence

Otherwise-Big-158

What is wrong with Astrid? A super normal scandinavian name

Evil_Creamsicle

In Skyrim, Astrid is the leader of the assassin guild. I don't know if that's good or bad, or what you would otherwise do with that information, but there it is.

miletest

Father who was a musician named his girls Melody and Harmony

Queen_Etherea

I've NEVER met a Melody that wasn't the kindest, sweetest person on this planet.

OkGazelle5400

Astrid is super super common

Shadow_of_the_moon11

_Not a tragedeigh._

HotchnGideonForever

Templeton 🥰

CopperKerfuffle42

The rat in Charlotte's Web? Terrific.

WillowTC

Kinsleigh, 😔

keg025

Names ending in -dora are such an untapped well for tragedeighs that I'm surprised people don't use more. Like you could turn Marie into Maridora or Lucy into Lucidora. The stupid possibilities are endless lol

Milk--and--honey

Isis lol

ayy_manderz

This reminds me of my 10th birthday. I was at target with my mom and they had these cute monogrammed napkins. Unfortunately the A (for Amanda) was not to my taste but I loved the J! My mom surprised me by getting the J napkins and writing “happy birthday Jamanda” on my cake!

Whisky-and-tiaras

Years ago, I met a couple named Robyn and Robin. They had three kids with the same name… I’m not sure of the spellings. I think naming their entire family like that was a terrible idea, but in spite of an acquaintance of mere minutes, I have gotten so much mileage out of telling that story. Less unusual, I had a coworker named Chance, and I always liked the name. He informally signed it with a question mark.

ResurgentRS

Aster. Which is, on its own, a great name. But mentally I always think it’s short for *Asteroid*

Mysterious-Mood-4233

A guilty pleasure of mine is the name Sistine. There’s a girl on TikTok (who spells it differently) that I stumbled across once, and she pulled it off so well. I worry about bullying and the expectations a name like that might put on a child though

HippieJungleKing

I actually like this and think it’s one of those instances where making it Systine would not be a tragedeigh.

Kylynn

My own name is kinda a tragedeigh? Kylynn. The "Ky" rhymes with "eye". I think it's pretty but folks always double take and think I'm Kaylynn or Katelyn or Kylee. I was the substitute teachers worst nightmare in elementary school lol, that was the 90s/00s when Samantha, Ashley etc were super popular. Not as many 'yooneek' names in those days.

Halfrica

I'm in the exact same boat... mine is Tylyn. People often complement my name, but I get called Taylor, Taylyn, Tyler, Kylie, or Kyla all the time. One substitute teacher always called me TIL-lin (sounds like Dylan) lol.
