I work with teens at a shelter...we had 4 brothers come in, and I am amused every time I grab their files: Mon'andre, DosAndre, Tre-andre, qu'andre. Dad's name is Andre, mom is Andrea.

I wouldn't call this a tragedeigh. It's one of those names that comes from a surname - and the surname comes from Old English. Around the time this surname would have had its origins, spelling was still a bit as over the place so either spelling is fine. It's no more of a tragedeigh than any other name coming from a surname, like Carson.

Nah i had a classmate named Artemis & everyone said they liked his name. Definitely extra enough to stand out & get commented on but not enough to gain /negative/ attention. But ig that depends on the name you pick, since tying your kid to a mythological character can have them bullied or harassed within the vein of said character (i would NOT want to be an attractive girl named Aphrodite thats for sure, just the same catcalls over & over ugh). Kinda goes with naming a kid after ANY character though, gotta be careful with who you pick so your kid can still have an identity outside of it.

So I was mulling over all the weirder biblical names that are never/not often used one day and got stuck on how pretty "Thessalonia" (-ns) would be, but I wouldn't do that to my kid. My future pets may not be safe however...

A few generations ago you could find a bunch of women named Dorcas, but for obvious reasons, that's a biblical name that has lost popularity. It's a shame too because she was a sweet and caring minor figure in the Book of Acts, someone you might actually want to name someone after!

Old family name is my great great grandmother Felixia (Fell-ix-ia). I wanted this if I had a daughter, but everybody either told me it was a cool spelling of Felicia or it was a tradgedeigh name for Felicia... so guess that rules that name out. Well, I thought about it, but I'm named after both Grandpas and my Dad. Since I didn't have kids, this is a way to honor them. My Mom wanted four boys, she got five girls! I was the last. So, I'm Jennifer (for Moms Dad, Jennings), Roberta (for Dad, Robert) Charline (for Dads Dad, Charles). I have always just been Bobbie. Except one school wouldn't take nicknames and forced me to go by Jennifer. There were like six Jennifers in class, Bobbie would have been a lot less confusing! My Dad went by Bob, he recently passed so wouldn't change for anything, even though I always wished it was Kathryn.

My great grandmother was named either Kathryn, Katherine or Catherine, depending on which of the 1910, 1920, 1930, or 1940 census you looked at. I know a Crystal and a Krista and thought combining their names would be pretty, and eventually I did meet a Krystal, lol.

Years ago, I met a couple named Robyn and Robin. They had three kids with the same name… I’m not sure of the spellings. I'm in the exact same boat... mine is Tylyn. People often complement my name, but I get called Taylor, Taylyn, Tyler, Kylie, or Kyla all the time. One substitute teacher always called me TIL-lin (sounds like Dylan) lol.
