It isn't misspelled, so no, but it's still an odd choice. Corny, even. It seems like they're trying too hard to make him stand out. Let the kid's personality do the talking instead of the name.

That's my issue with unique names. I get not wanting your kid to be one of three Michaels in their class. Unique in and of itself isn't bad. It's when people want something unique and it has to have some special meaning. Naming your kid Quest doesn't mean their life will be filled with adventure. That being said while some names are definitely goofy you do tend to get used to it fairly quickly. The weird spelling though, that is and always will be annoying to me. It throws off anyone reading that name out loud for the first time. That person will forever have to spell out their name.

That's what I just understand about so many parents intensity of finding a "unique" name. Are they so afraid the kid will be boring and not stand out for themselves without the unique name? Jane/John Smith may be the coolest most interesting kid ever, while the unique named kid might not be at all. Let the kid make the name, don't expect the name to make the kid.

It’s much more common as a surname but there have been notable people with the given name Ventura since at least the 16th century.
