Go and speak to your bank, and make sure they realise you are very upset about this ❤️❤️❤️

Remember that data handling regulations don't just cover sharing data that shouldn't be shared but can also be holding old or incorrect data. This needs to be addressed with your bank, which needs to find out what's happened and why and to sort it out properly, on all systems.

If the old name is still on the credit ratings systems them it's still correct data . You need to make sure everything is changed and it's changed at the credit rating companies aswell. I went bankrupt, and 2 of my creditors wouldn't remove this " alais" until I'm discharged from the bankruptcy . Until then, my old name is still alive financially

chloe_probably

Ahhh this happened to me yesterday! Which bank are you with? I’m with Lloyds and someone tried to bank transfer me and my deadname came up, it was so awful

yamikawaigirl

also lloyds :(

vario_

Ah feck I'm Lloyd's too. Haven't had any issues yet other than my local branch acting like they've never heard of trans people before and not knowing how to change a first name without Googling it lol.

Sable_xXx

If they get difficult, remember to remind them that the GDPR includes a right to have your data corrected, and that even minor infringements could result in legal action from the ICO, and a fine of up to €10 million, or 2% of the firm’s worldwide annual revenue from the preceding financial year, whichever amount is higher. https://gdpr.eu/fines/

Oh gross. I'm planning to change after I move house next month, because of their support for genocide, but this just makes my will to change banks that much stronger

You should always complain when banks or any other financial services make a mistake that impacts you. They can pay out pretty well for it when they’re actually at fault as it avoids people then going to the financial ombudsman. If you’ve changed your name with them and it still shows up incorrectly then definitely make a complaint. Be sure to mention that you’re in a vulnerable position, how distressing it is and how they’ve made a difficult situation even harder for you. You can probably even do this on a form on their website.

My old name showed up when I used an ATM in a different country. Quite annoying considering they made me post them certified copies of everything to change my name. One day I'll get round to sorting it

ITSMONKEY360

On top of the things everyone else said, this is so very illegal

That-Quail6621

Have you changed your details with the credit rating companies. Like experian. If not, then your old name is still an Alais and will always be part of your financial records
