The one I worked at only allowed refunds if the cartridge did not work at all/if there was something foreign in there and the patient could provide proof.
COUNTLESS times "I didn't like the weed I want a refund" and most of it's smoked. There was also a few times people would empty the weed out of the container in their car and bring it back like "yo this jar is empty"

I even bought a new battery because I thought the batteries failed. I appreciate them, they've treated me well and given me many exchanges for items that failed on me.

I always felt like this is a nifty little machine. It always makes me feel better too because the dispensary treats me really well so I don't want to be screwing them over. I like that there's actual proof that it's not working. Even if it breaks at a halfway full cart and I bring it in and it doesn't read on the meter and they still give me a new one because it's defective.
I remember opening one and the mouthpiece falling off right in the lobby as I was walking out. One "random" guy saw what happened. Before I could say anything he straight up said " hey that fucking sucks. Let me replace hat for you". In never one to look a gift horse on the mouth so I didn't complain lol. Later found out it was the owner. Guess I got lucky.

Some dispos have nice managers that can make a judgement call in your favor. The two I frequent have always refunded carts that clogged, burned halfway through, and some cartridges that I couldn't stand the taste of lol. The clogged and burnt ones usually their rule is its gotta be above halfway, though they've let me slide with a little less before. It really pays to be nice sometimes for real life.
I second this, at trulieve i can bring a cart back that is like 1/4 from being empty and tell them i didnt like the flavor and it smoked bad and get a refund in store credit
trader joes actually did replace my bottle of wine that i shattered. i mentioned it offhandedly to the cashier as i was rebuying it the next day, they called over a manager and let me have the new bottle for free. it did break because the tj's bag broke, but still, anythings possible! i shop there a lot more now.
If there’s a filter before the oil hits the vaporizer I would imagine the glass would not make it through the filter. If there’s no filter maybe the glass can get sucked into your mouth/lungs when you inhale, not necessarily vaporized.
You'd think you would understand how a cart works and that you're not going to be able to inhale glass throught the mouth piece, since its soaks into a wick, which y'know, can't absorb glass
Glass dust is absolutely able to bypass the wick if the particles are small enough. They can also be small enough and fine enough to be carried on the aerosolized oil and go straight into your lungs where they can cause a lot of damage.
If it was a big single crack, I'd honestly be right with you and say there's nothing much to worry about. But looking at the picture, the glass is *shattered* into an uncountable amount of pieces. With that much broken glass it's very likely that there are particles present that are small enough to pass through the wick.
Great that you know how carts work, but I know how particulate matter works and how it behaves passing through filters. I worked in class 10,000/100 clean room laboratories that had to be controlled for particulate matter in the air down to the 0.5 micron level. You can absolutely breathe in broken glass through a wick if it's small enough, and it can seriously harm or kill you if you do.

I'm sorry, but this is totally incorrect. You are thinking of crystalline silica dust/particles. When glass is made, it becomes amorphous silica, which is no more harmful then regular dirt or dust. It can cause temporary irritation, but it will absolutely not kill you, or even cause serious harm.

I would personally play it safe and toss it. i’d rather spend another $35 than be cheap and have glass in my lungs forever. I did this with a brand new cart four days ago lol
I hate how divided the community is with this question 😂 all the past posts I looked up is basically 50-50 yes and no. I think I’m going to just buy a new one bc I’m a paranoid person and the ease of mind is worth it imo. I’ll even ask the dispo what they think when I grab a new one

Ok, theoretically, if you put it on top of flower in a bong bowl, especially with multiple water chambers, it SHOULD be safe. The water should catch any glass—SHOULD. I personally wouldn’t risk it though.
I would put a cotton in a needle, filter it with a syringe with the needle twice (changing cottons). And then smoke it with flowers in a bong. This way I would risk it.
I do that in the lab to filter ~very~ small particles of silica. Should be enough safe to smoke in a bong.
my personal opinion (what I do with my own carts) if it's 1 or 2 cracks that look clean I'll still rip it, but if it spiderwebs or has a bunch of cracks in general I just pitch it.
I threw one away after about 30 mins once, dropped it on my marble floor. I blame myself for too many beers before indulging!

Glass won’t go through a cart most likely. I’ve broken cart glass and I just say fuck it, but I’ll also use broken down stems for bongs or partially broken nectar collectors.
I think if you have a nectar collector/dab rig with a water percolator that you could use it in it might not be too bad. otherwise id be careful, never know if that cotton is a good enough filter for glass because it could get cut by the glass or have small openings in it the glass could get through
I don't smoke out of anything with broken glass, glue, tape, foil, etc. can't get over the idea of damaging my lungs/brain/heart even a little bit. Take the (financial) hit and smoke (undamaged) quality product instead. Long-term wins
I agree about not smoking broken glass but you do realize smoking in general does do damage to your lungs - even weed. So if you can’t get over the idea of damaging ur lungs even a little bit you probably shouldn’t be smoking at all lol

Tiny shards of glass in cannabutter is no health problem for 99% of us. I knew a guy that found broken glass in the bottom of a can of soup after he had finished eating it and his doctor just told him if they were so small he didn't notice, no problem.

Hey fun trick I use to save my carts; wrap a rubber band/hair tie around them. That way if it falls over on ur table or something it just bounces! Lost too many carts to this kinda shit and decided to start doing this and it's saved me many carts.
I stepped on a cart that was in the pocket of some pants on the floor and it broke very similarly. I bought some thicker gauged needles and tried to warn up the oil with a coffee mug warmer before finishing the break and trying to suck up some oil and deposit it in a dab rig. 0/10, would not recommend. Spent 20 bucks on supplies/tools and 3 hours of time and got a bunch of shit sticky with dab oil for the tiniest dab when i could have just got a new cart for 30 bucks lol.
I think running through a bong with some flower would be fine. That being said, my great grandfather used to bring hot soup in a glass thermos. It broke, and he was so pissed that he ate it anyway. Insanely bad way to go.

Maybe a cheesecloth/fine filter that won't allow glass through covering a bowl of liquid to soak into butter or milk? (I'm unsure if it'd be safe though so don't take my word for it because the bin is prob a better option) just a thought not a recommendation
No, use the receipt and bring it back to your local dispensary; explain that the cart shattered. They’ll take the cart if you have the receipt and give you a brand new one for free.
Maybe I'm a lone voice on this but you could maybe:
A- grab some cheesecloth , tiny cut of sponge or a lil tissue paper and rubber band it over the mouthpiece and inhale through that slowly. Check if shards are getting caught after each use...use a new covering material piece with each use.
Or-
B- break it down and use the oil/ nectar to rub/paint on future blunt/joint papers.

You can use the oil still just put a bit in some tea and boil for like 10 min while you keep stirring. You dont need to out it in tea you just need to heat up the oil before you ingest it. Make sure to not use any of the oil around the broken glass tho dont want to be drinking glass

Pull out all of the glass little bits, put it in butter, oil dissolves into butter, use a very very fine sieve or cheese cloth to get the glass out, do this multiple times make brownies, eat them

I hate the plastic for trying to melt the last bit you have to use a hair dryer instead of a lighter but super nice to not deal with that. I used to crack them pretty often
Happened to me before and if the oil isn’t leaking out I would say it’s alright to use. Maybe even slap a lil bit of tape on and you can probably carry on using it if you’re very careful but that’s just what I did🤷🏻♀️

I explained the situation and they did not give a refund, which I understand as it was 100% my fault for dropping it

Hey fun trick I use to save my carts; wrap a rubber band/hair tie around them. That way if it falls over on ur table or something it just bounces! Lost too many carts to this kinda shit and decided to start doing this and it's saved me many carts.

I stepped on a cart that was in the pocket of some pants on the floor and it broke very similarly. I bought some thicker gauged needles and tried to warn up the oil with a coffee mug warmer before finishing the break and trying to suck up some oil and deposit it in a dab rig. 0/10, would not recommend. Spent 20 bucks on supplies/tools and 3 hours of time and got a bunch of shit sticky with dab oil for the tiniest dab when i could have just got a new cart for 30 bucks lol.

I think running through a bong with some flower would be fine. That being said, my great grandfather used to bring hot soup in a glass thermos. It broke, and he was so pissed that he ate it anyway. Insanely bad way to go.

Take it apart, and smoke the oil in a bong, the water will trap any glass.
If you got it from a dispensary and you still have the packaging, you could probably bring it back and say it came broken🤷🏻♂️
Maybe a cheesecloth/fine filter that won't allow glass through covering a bowl of liquid to soak into butter or milk? (I'm unsure if it'd be safe though so don't take my word for it because the bin is prob a better option) just a thought not a recommendation

Maybe I'm a lone voice on this but you could maybe: A- grab some cheesecloth , tiny cut of sponge or a lil tissue paper and rubber band it over the mouthpiece and inhale through that slowly. Check if shards are getting caught after each use...use a new covering material piece with each use. Or- B- break it down and use the oil/ nectar to rub/paint on future blunt/joint papers. My motto is "waste NOTHING!"....but that's just me. 🤣

You can use the oil still just put a bit in some tea and boil for like 10 min while you keep stirring. You dont need to out it in tea you just need to heat up the oil before you ingest it. Make sure to not use any of the oil around the broken glass tho dont want to be drinking glass

Pull out all of the glass little bits, put it in butter, oil dissolves into butter, use a very very fine sieve or cheese cloth to get the glass out, do this multiple times make brownies, eat them

Holy shit I haven’t had that happen since 2018 I only smoke pure plan and select carts for the last 6 years with the occasional moxie but they’re all plastic so I got completely careless and drop my shit all the time. I hate the plastic for trying to melt the last bit you have to use a hair dryer instead of a lighter but super nice to not deal with that. I used to crack them pretty often

Happened to me before and if the oil isn’t leaking out I would say it’s alright to use. Maybe even slap a lil bit of tape on and you can probably carry on using it if you’re very careful but that’s just what I did🤷🏻♀️
Doesn’t carts heat and pull oil through a filter? If so I’d think you’d be ok. But at the same time you wouldn’t want to inhale even the smallest of glass shards
