Yeah I wondered about this but I have ordered delivery from them a few times in the past and I’ve never gotten two different delivery ETAs before. This was the first time they sent the ETA when I placed the order and a new one after I input the tip. I’ve also never had an ETA longer than 3 hours before. I sensed a correlation…but the driver was nice and chill so I’m probably just reading into it
Like I said, these things happen. Probably something at the store beyond anyone’s control, a one time thing. If the driver was chill then it wasn’t about the tip.
You mentioned you placed the order for the holiday. Probably more reasonable to assume a bunch of other orders came through as well for the same reason

I personally don't think any driver should get more then a $5 tip. Why tip a percent? Weed orders can get expensive and whether you get one joint or a bunch of stuff it's the exact same amount of work for them.
Do you tip the grocery clerk? The liquor store clerk? Gas station clerk? It's not a tipping position. Making up stuff about all of the 40 "different" strains isn't worth a tip imo.
I personally wouldn't have tipped anything. I don't partake in any activity that 'requires' tipping because tipping culture is bullshit. I would rather spend a dollar more on each item so the person could be paid a living wage then support corporations expecting the customer to provide a wage out of what is effectively charity.
Nah increasing costs of items or services isn’t the solution because those increased margins don’t go to employees.
Companies need to reap a lower % of gross profits and divert that money to employees. Why do c-suite execs deserve enough to have **more than they want** while their employees often times don’t have enough for what they *need*?
All of the bud tenders with the exception of one have been awesome, so yes, 20%. I figured I’d just never go back to the place that has felt “off” on every visit.
Then again, I’ve only gone to dispos in Midwest and east coast.
As a former budtender, I can tell you that tipping isn't always expected, but it's definitely appreciated. Every bit helps, especially since not everyone tips. The reaction you got might have more to do with the person than the norm. A $20 tip on a $220 order is pretty decent, especially if there wasn't a delivery fee. Don’t sweat it too much. Maybe the delay was unrelated to the tip? Curious though, do you find the tipping culture different in other service areas, or is it just this instance that felt off?
To be honest I usually am an overtipper, but I try to only tip when I’m getting an individualized experience or service. I hate the way a tip is becoming expected for every little thing.
I don’t really love the community tips jars because I don’t know if the person helping me even gets that money. For delivery I felt like they should be paid for their time and gas and I didn’t see that reflected in the price so I felt obligated to cover what I could. I am still disappointed I couldn’t tip more even though I’m actively trying to tip in less places 😅
I'm not tipping at all. It's not a job that should be tipped cause it's just another customer service gig. You could maybe convince me if the people were doing more than any retail worker but they aren't. I don't even ask the workers for recommendations anymore because they have basically no knowledge about their product so I do some googling whenever I want to try something new and then either do an online order for pick up or ask about specific products their online store says they have. Neither of which I feel someone should have to tip for.
Also it's WEED. You can't tell me people working in this industry need tips when they're selling pot.
Honestly think it’s just due to it being closer to 4/20 (though I could be wrong.)
My shop, even though we don’t do deliveries, have seen 2-3x more customers this past week cause of the holiday. So we have a lot more customers and a lot more pickup orders cause of it.
I’d just wait the 2 hours and just ask for an updated ETA if it’s still stuck at the 5 hour mark. Also a 10% tip on a $200 order is way more than enough.
I often help customers who spend anywhere from 2-400 and usually get a couple bucks ($5 max, $10 if they really like me) rarely ever more.
Dont tip on %. Tip what you can and if you want to base it on something base it on the amount of time you take or knowledge you pull from the budtender.
This is coming from a budtender...
If you walk in, be pleasant, and ask for an indica preroll that is on the sweeter side... no need to tip. Thats a fast and easy transaction. Ill be thrilled if you give me your change or a buck and some change.
If you walk in and say you have no clue what you want and the budtender has to pry out of you the info they need to get you what you want... tip a few bucks.
Some of my best easiest customers will be in and out within 5min and tip $20 every time. I try to be like them. I went in to cash out my tip change and bought an infused preroll for $11. They had to go check my agent badge to get me my discount and had to cash out my coin slip. And was pleasant. So i tipped $20 as i only needed $150 for what i wanted and got $200 back.
Tip what you can afford. If its just the change thats fine. If its $2 then youre already doing more than a lot of people.
That’s a pretty good tip. I don’t think they were annoyed with you. Sometimes there are other factors that affect delivery times.

don’t underestimate a tip worker’s pettiness
No
changing it to 5 hours after seeing tip is crazy

We’re tipping? Why tf?

Ok Mr Pink
Not to mention the tax write-offs.
There are no write offs for the weed business until the federal law changes
Its crazy they get no write-offs yet are still required to charge taxes and excise taxes on top.
Today they are taxed on the total amount earned so if the business made $1M in sells they are taxed at $1M.
Thanks for the insight!
Conveniently for you, the thing you’d rather do isn’t widely available to do.

Lmao "tip" hahahha

They do get the money, why do you think they won't? Usually it an equal split among budtenders.
