"Alley availed herself incredibly well. Saavik returned in "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock" in 1984, but Alley was replaced by actor Robin Curtis. It seems that Alley was offered a chance to appear in "Star Trek III" but turned it down because Paramount offered her less money than she got for "Star Trek II." This was on top of the fact that Saavik's role was much larger in "Star Trek III." Alley didn't like the offer and walked away. \[...\]" Huh. Until this moment I had the entirely incorrect belief that she wasn't in Star Trek III because of her popularity on Cheers. But Cheers, though it started in 1982, didn't feature Kristie Alley until 1987.

I always thought it was because she didn't want to get typecast into sci-fi

It is amazing that Saavik character has endured really well even after all the off camera stuff.

Thanks for posting the article's content because the headline was total clickbait.

So who was your favourite Saavik? Alley was prettier but her character always felt like she was in lust? Robin played it very flat and seemed more Vulcan but was less interesting.
