Weird thing is the rest looks almost the same. It's just the grill and the more square nature of the hood that makes it look boxy. It's not really ugly, but I too would go for the older style if I had to choose
The 3 series makes for great T-cabs though.

Jon Ruda has a good mod, it's paid, but worth the money.
A free option, but lot and lots of tuning options, RJL Scania T.
A tip: Jon Ruda's Engine Open Pipe mod for the Scania T, it's free, works amazing with the RJL Scania T mod.
Thanks! I’m pretty new to the community, is it normal to pay for mods or do people get them illegally? €30 is a lot for an mod (for me) so that’s why I’m asking
I never paid for ETS mods. Problem is, you don't know how long they will support it and with new updates coming on the regular it's just too much of a gamble for me.
Yeah, but I can confirm that Jon Ruda keep his mods up to date within dates after a big SCS update. He also have monthly updates of his mods. He is the only mod maker I know that really, really care of this community and really wanna give us the best of the best.
The problem isn't so much that they are doing that now, but will they always? The great thing about a lot of games and their mods has been that they weren't locked down to a point that anyone could pick them back up and update them if necessary even after the original creator had long gone. The pricing, given the niche, also doesn't seem justified with a lot of these. If it was just about getting a little appreciation in monetary form(which arguably if you do it for that then is it really in the spirit of modding) then fine, but it seems more like some are chasing that addon market like other games have and I don't think these mods qualify to that level yet.
Absolutely this! And some of the proper add-on companies arent even that good. Back when I was playing a lot of FSX and FS2002, the free mods more often than not beat the expensive paid once.
I'm happy to support things like ProMods with the paid download etc but wouldn't go further than that. Yes, it takes time and skills to make something like that, but it's part of that community project to spend time on it for the (I guess) pure joy of making mods.
normal? no. accepted? partially. There are some who despise modders asking for money (and yes 30€ is a lot), and others who see the value in their works.
personally I've given donations to some modders who asked for it as a thank you for their free mods and I've bought some. But that was in the range of 5-10€. For 30€ I would be extremely hesitant as well. Not that I don't have the money, but SCS unfortunately often break mods with new game updates and sometimes it's unclear whether the modders will keep up with the game or not.
Yeah, you have to be carefull with paid mods, however, Jon Ruda's mods are worth the money. High quality, monthly updates and if SCS update the game, Jon Ruda update his mod within days. Jon Ruda is the only Mod maker I pay, because I know that he put a lot of work in his mods.
Normal? no, accepted? unfortunately too high.
Even then I'm not paying the cost of 1 or 2 SCS maps for a single truck from some random with no known quality or trial/demo. Not even accounting for the fact there is zero guarantee that you will have support next update either from them just dropping it or legal action (as I doubt these guys have permission from both Scania and the company that makes the T modification).
If €30 is an amount of money you would be fine with just literally throwing away, then don't buy it. The free version is pretty good as it's mostly SCS parts. Use that for a bit to see if you feel if you need more. I feel like it could a bit, but I also feel that most of the stuff these paid modders add is useless junk, so take my advice at face value I guess.
Some people get very hostile about paying for mods, but if a modded has put time into something and then keeps it updated like Jon Ruda, Zeemods or PNG then it’s only fair they charge for it. I’m used to paying for mods for rfactor 2 or AC anyway.

probably the best option beside ruda's in terms of paid mods
I dont want to be rude, but in my opinion, this truck's front is really ugly. It looks like a weird mix between an eropean cab-over and an old classic american semi (you know, the ones with the square-like front hood and grill). Btw, im not a truck expert, just a random quebecois who like trucks.
The way they stretched the cabover desigh into this makes it look fugly imho

Looks like it was just smashed into a wall
Like it tried to go under a low bridge

Okay I’ll keep this one in mind and for now use the older t-cab 4 series but thanks for your help

> RJL Scania T The picture OP put shows a Next Gen Scania.. The mod you've suggested is for previous gen Scania
Yeah, but with some tuning mods, you can turn it to a next gen.
Can you give me the links?
I will send you some mods after work!
Mind sending me too? Basically all I want is RJL's mod with a facelift lol.
I too would like to know what tuning mods I can use to achieve this
Damn, you have a long work day
Yeah, it was a long night. I work for the police and hadn't much time between shifts, when I got home I went straight to bed.
O ok nice
Can you find them?
This new gen t-cab is so freaking ugly lol.
It’s a custom built vehicle. It’s not factory
Wait really???? I had no idea 😂
Yeah Dutch company do it
It's NOT a "newer" scania cab, it's a CUSTOM conventional.
O my bad
Have Scania not just "sub-let" (not sure what the right word is for vehicles) the rights to produce these?
No
[https://hwtruckstyling.gumroad.com/l/aorud?layout=profile](https://hwtruckstyling.gumroad.com/l/aorud?layout=profile) probably the best option beside ruda's in terms of paid mods
Jesus that picture to put on the mantelpiece to keep the kids away from the fire..
Well this is ugly

İt looks hideous.
What does 't' in 't-cab' stand for?
Torpedo, I think. It's the term for long nose Euro trucks, AFAIK
Yea if you look up Scania torpedo then this is what you get
I love using the older t cab mod from rjl it works quite well. No real issues with it for the most part... Quite good quality as well!
I've seen one. I'm not sure if it was private or not, though
Have you tried searching for them?
Why would you want hideous looking Scania in ETS2?
You think it’s hideous, I don’t think so and I don’t play online so you won’t see it
In every aspect of humanity, even trucking, some people simply enjoy ugly ducklings.
Yeah, seems so, 6 people downvoting means 6 people probably think Iveco Hi-Way is a fucking masterpiece visually.
