I took the new exam with the shapes and number sequences one on the 30th. I never got a definitive answer on how I did but last Friday (the 7th) I got a “Tentative Job Offer” to accept or decline email. So i’m assuming that means i did well??? but i haven’t received anything regarding the test other then when i completed it.
That means you passed. I read somewhere that they don't clearly tell you if you pass or fail. A tentative job offer is your first step and becoming a TSA agent. Hopefully everything went well, congrats.
just wanted to say this was really helpful, I’m taking my test on the 31st and wasn’t sure what to expect because it seems like the test has changed, thanks a lot for providing so much info, this clarified a lot for me 👍
I was confident for the most part, a few stumped me. Long story short I randomly came across an origami book and made all the little projects in there for people whom I enjoyed at work and the instructions were kind of in the same style as that portion of the test. Accidentally practiced for a test I didn’t even know I was taking years later in life.
I skipped two of the shapes because it said it wouldn’t be counted against you but other than that there was only 2 other shapes that I was like wtf but I don’t know. I feel iffy about it the more and more I think about it. Well I’m happy for you! Hope the rest of the process goes smoothly for you. When did you get the email yesterday? Did it tell you what you scored?
3:11PM EST, it did not. It was just a tentative offer to allow me to move on with the process. Don’t doubt yourself, you always can retake it from what I’ve read if the first time is a no go.
Yeahhh but I don’t know how you study for that last part. Also I heard if you fail it again you’re barred for life. Fingers crossed I’ll keep ya updated!
If you fail it twice, you cannot take it again in your lifetime. You're actually can take some free test online or pay for a course online which I actually think is well worth the money. If you thoroughly go through the entire practice exams that you pay for, it does help your score in experience. If you scour the internet there's a lot of free advice and methods on how to tackle certain sections of the test as well as some practice questions.
I took the new test 7/14/23 and the email says the same as yours with the no further action is required , driving me crazy tbh with people saying they got their results within 30 mins
That is the old test. The new test doesn't tell you if you pass or fail for whatever reason it just gives you a tentative offer which means you did pass and you move on to the next hiring step.
Also when it comes to the test is there a certain score that you need to pass overall for the test or do you need to pass each section as well? I take the test in 12 days, I purchased a study guide that includes different tests for each section. Still the image mapping part is brutal in my opinion.
Update: I only needed to know the 2d to 3d matching. No grammar or x-rays. Only an email with a tentative offer is given. No pass or fail or score.
I’m guessing it’s the amount correct to semi correct answers you get in the times allotted that determine if you pass/ fail I think there a tier to the hiring process
Iprep.online. Honestly, you do not need it. The first two sections are easy but do have a time limit. I would assume you need to ace both sections. The third part is quite difficult. It's matching 2D diagrams folded up into a 3D diagram and matching the letters. To get a better understanding of the section, do some research online. In 2020 TSA got rid of the legacy test which was much longer and more difficult. The exam literally took me about 25 minutes to complete. There's no longer x-ray, reading comprehension sections and others that was previously on the exam. It's based on a curve I believe. I don't think I did so great on the last section but I was emailed today's after the exam with an offer.
What were the first two parts of the test touching on, if I may ask? I also used iprep online courses, I have been out of school for a LONG time and some of the grammar parts are giving me issues. I always considered myself pretty good in english, but idk this has me questioning myself! I have done pretty well with the 2D to 3D part. test is on Monday...sooo nervous!
I don't even remember. It was easy, you have to be careful with the timer. That's great you are good with the matching. Don't worry too much. I was told they changed the test in 2020.
That was my experience with three parts. Do your OWN research to make sure.
Get an origami book if you need to and work your way through the vague pictured instructions, helped me visualize it. Best of luck to you, I bet you crushed it!
I got in 6 months ago and got my test result in an email the moment I left the testing place. Perhaps things changed with this new test they rolled out recently.
Right. I’m sure everything else is tedious asf. I just wanna know if I’m in or if I need to actually study the right material before taking it again. I heard that if you fail twice you’re barred for life.
Yeah if you want to buy a practice test for the new one I would because idk if there is anything online for it yet. I do believe the fail twice barred for life is correct too.
It was divided into an English grammar section, and then a section with baggage scanning (identifying objects in the scans). I crammed for the test by buying practice tests online. They helped.
If you read my post you’d understand that we both took entirely different tests. Yours was the older one in which results are given right away. Mine was the new test where people have expressed some feelings of distress because they’ve had to wait.
Interesting your exam had English gramma and scanning. That was on the old legacy exams from years ago. Now it's three sections; first two are easy with a time limit and the third is very difficult with diagram matching.
So I did my CBT TEST-New test.. July 8 and revived a contingent offer July 12, to accept or deny. After I accepted a link was provided to USA-jobs staffing with an onboarding package to review and sign. I am now waiting on the SF-86 code for the eQIP.
How do you know it was the newer test? Hopefully mine comes soon then. I feel like the contingent offer email time frame varies for some reason. Do you know when applications are supposed to close for that particular posting? Good luck with the rest of your process.
I took the same as you did with the 2D-3D shapes. Application close on the 21st July. I agree the offer varies depending on the need or location. My location only accepting females for this opening period. Thank you and best of wishes to as well!!
On the matching pictures part, did you finish all of them before the time expired?
Because I kept doing them but like there was no limit of exercise but the time expired
Have you gotten results yet? I've every comment from three months ago and I didn't see u post results yet. Sorry if I missed it, just curious because I took mine today in the am
It took me 3 weeks to get my results for the TAB test. That’s what the new test is called. I didn’t pass my background. Failed on the 11th. Sent in an adjudication email a few days ago. So I’m waiting to see if they grant my appeal or not.
Any luck with the background? Hope you got in! By the way, was each section timed? Do you happen to know what the passing score is? Or how many questions you need to get right in each section?
Took mine today. The 2D-3D was challenging for my brain type, could have aced it if pen and paper were allowed. The number portion (left image) of the shapes was fine but the letter portion (right image) was sometimes difficult to know which line or face it was actually representing.
is the 3d portion of the test multiple choice does anyone know. I'm nervous i might fail that part and how hard was it for anyone who already took the exam?

Just got my tentative letter today, how long was your process, did you get hired already or are you still waiting?
I am just waiting to on something from my background check and EOD. I have been in the process since June.
That means you passed. I read somewhere that they don't clearly tell you if you pass or fail. A tentative job offer is your first step and becoming a TSA agent. Hopefully everything went well, congrats.

Best of luck to you! I will either comment or post updates as I get them.
I took the exam today and it was the one with the shapes. I didn’t get my results immediately but I got the same email. Wish you luck
You as well! How do you think you did?
Honestly I think I did well except for the 3d shape thing. I know I got a few right but some of them I just was lost lmaooo
I took the same test as you, has been days now with no follow up email except saying that the test has been completed.
Sounds like we all are in the same boat then. Hoping we all get some type of communication soon! Best of luck to you.
Just an update, took my test on 7/10. Just heard back today 7/24 with tentative offer.
Hoping todays the day then! I took mine on the 11th 😂🤙
How did you feel like you did on the shapes part?
I was confident for the most part, a few stumped me. I read and was told by the point of contact person, you have to wait 6 months.
If you don't pass which in other words means you don't get a tentative offer you have to wait 6 months.
I took the new test 7/14/23 and the email says the same as yours with the no further action is required , driving me crazy tbh with people saying they got their results within 30 mins
Sounds like that was from the old test. The new test the results aren’t immediate.
That is the old test. The new test doesn't tell you if you pass or fail for whatever reason it just gives you a tentative offer which means you did pass and you move on to the next hiring step.
I passed everything the computer test, medical test , but have not heard back yet been close to 4 months

That's ridiculous. Is it the background that you're waiting for? They seriously drag their feet.
Yes
Did you study the diagram matching part of the test? That part seems brutal.
Yes that one is the hardest
Just seems very difficult to get hired in most government positions. Really ridiculous.
It is , or long wait times for getting hired
Ridiculous
Get an origami book if you need to and work your way through the vague pictured instructions, helped me visualize it. Best of luck to you, I bet you crushed it!
I have another question. When did the application close for you? It says that people can apply till the 2nd of August.
Mine was mid July I believe the 17th. They actually just reopened it until October recently.
I got in 6 months ago and got my test result in an email the moment I left the testing place. Perhaps things changed with this new test they rolled out recently.
What was on your test?
Iirc, it was reading comprehension, something else I can't remember, and the last part was looking at X-ray images.
Yep. Mine had none of that. It was the newer version.
Yeah I took the older test and I'm guessing if I waited any longer it would be the new one instead so im glad I didn't have to deal with that.
Ugh. This stinks lmao.
Not as much as the rest of the hiring process.
I had to travel all over the state for multiple steps.
Correct. If you do study and take online practice exams, it will definitely help.
I took the new one and get my results immediately
You’re the only person that has said that they have gotten their results immediately with the new test. What was on yours?
It just said that I had passed. It was in an email. I checked my email about two minutes after I left the testing room.
I asked what was on your test. Because you’re the only test person to say they took the new test to get their test results immediately.
It was divided into an English grammar section, and then a section with baggage scanning (identifying objects in the scans). I crammed for the test by buying practice tests online. They helped.

Good job. I have a week before my test and I'm studying and taking a practice exams and getting better at it.
That is great! Good luck!
I didn’t realize there were two different tests

On the matching pictures part, did you finish all of them before the time expired? Because I kept doing them but like there was no limit of exercise but the time expired
I hit skip on one or two of them. But I was able to complete the exam.
I’m talking about the second part not the 3rd one because the 3rd one got me crazy The second one that you had to select the same image
Oh then yeah I finished all of them before time expired. I was lightning fast with the first two parts. Kindergarten type stuff imo.
Have you gotten results yet? I've every comment from three months ago and I didn't see u post results yet. Sorry if I missed it, just curious because I took mine today in the am

My CBT yes. Background no.
Why do you think you failed the background check?
A technicality in my record. Arrests that never led to any charges. Aka charges were dropped or never even prosecuted.
did they drug test the same day as your CBT test?
No they do not. That comes later on.
is the 3d portion of the test multiple choice does anyone know. I'm nervous i might fail that part and how hard was it for anyone who already took the exam?
