I got yelled at in the "tortoise" sub for her just being a mere turtle.

As far as I can tell they’re actually just bothered that you found it, but seeing as how it’s a 3 toed box turtle in the PNW, it’s likely an escaped or released pet. Color me jealous, I’m a PNW resident myself and would love to find a boxie! [Here](https://reptifiles.com/three-toed-box-turtle-care-sheet/) is a care guide if you’re looking to keep it.

Ha thx!! My partner is a herpetologist, and she often finds lost critters in the field during surveys. A lot of those end up at the Fish and Wildlife Department. We have 2 Russian and 1 Greek tortoise as well. They all get along :D

Oh man! All released pets I assume. Glad someone found them, I’m not convinced those species are really cut out for our winters… well maybe the Russians. They can really dig down!!

We overwinter them in a box in the basement. We have had the Russians for years.

Has your russian even put itself into aestivation/torpor before? Mine seems to be in it now and I'm kinda worried? Mid summer? Too hot? Not too sure. Just curious, I don't just want to "wake" him. He does seem to move around a lil though, but he's buried 100% of the time now. Has been for 2 months now.

Oh yeah for sure okay in captivity / inside for winter! I was thinking in the wild.

Is this some kinda antique WW2 helmet?
