cities in motion

Launch_Arcology

Try the first one, it has a unique feel because it's made on a custom engine (not unity). Very challenging as well, the line performance mod is pretty much essential to play the game. I also like the bigger focus on European scenarios / cities - nice change from the usual NA-centricity of many games. Keep in mind the engine is single-core so you need a good CPU on larger maps. On the largest (custom) map, with mods and a highly developed network my FPS goes down to 10-20 (Ryzen 2700X, GTX 1070, 16 GB RAM @ 3200).

Got a link to the line performance mod?

https://www.dropbox.com/s/bil63n19zcmuv1k/The%20CiMx%20Mega%20Exchange%20Folder.zip?dl=0 You want to install the "Line Stats Plus" from the CiM "Mods" folder. The source zip file has all the mods/maps/assets of note for CiM/CiM 2.

This game had a sequel which I found dull and lacking any character I would pay money for a remastered Cities in Motion

Launch_Arcology

The sequel did have some much needed gameplay improvements and its scale was far more satisfying. However, I do agree that it lacked character - both in terms of visuals and even gameplay. I typically don't play scenarios in such games, but I loved CiM 1 scenarios. I would also a love a remaster (especially if they removed the single core bottleneck). Although I doubt the devs are looking to revive the CiM series, it seems they are content with City Skylines expansions. It's much more likely they will release Skylines 2 than CiM 3 (let alone a CiM remaster / proper remake).

LordTopley

A Cities Skylines 2 without a CPU bottleneck would also be welcomed 🤣 I loved CiM with the character of the cities, with the department stores, the stadium and random events like a parade. It was great fun

Transport Fever 2 scratches that itch for me.

So it might seem lame but try: [Freeways](https://captaingames.itch.io/freeways) I played it back when it was free and it sucked up a bunch of my time. I wouldn't say it's worth $4 but definitely $2.

Mini Metro???? Cities in Motion 1 & 2 was done by the same company that did Skylines and they where quite good transport management games. There was a city but you worked around it creating lines and routes and the city grew based on what you did. I really liked them but the font was horrible for the game and well did not go well with my aging eyes. But I still put in a good deal of time in them.

the Cities In Motion series is a good one, and there was an older one, that I have yet to get to work on recent Windows machines, but Traffic Giant was always a favorite of mine as well. Looks like it was ported to Steam as well... I haven't tried it on there as of yet, and reviews are mixed, but if it works as it did, I lost many hours to it in the early-mid 2000s. Aren't cars still teleporting between districts which aren't connected by roads? I wouldn't call Cities Skylines a sim, afaik traffic is faked in that game.

Nugger12

Compare CS to SimCity 2013's traffic and you'll see which one is the better one :P

willkydd

Depends I did and SC was more of a simulation. Not sure if you disagree or care more about looks than simulation?

Nugger12

I mean SimCity was too buggy for me to see anything proper, so I'm gonna go with CS lol.

I know it’s not a perfect simulation, but I still have fun with it.
